Crazy photo colors in all aps except Photoshop
I have a dual G5 (with iiyama monitor) that I use with no problem in Photoshop. Colors display perfectly from all photo files and calibrate perfectly with printer. However, in Mail and iPhoto, the photo colors are super saturated-- psychodelic- looking-- making images totally useless. When I e-mail the files to my laptop, the colors display fine on the laptop and on my Powermac G4 -- Clearly, there is something wrong in the G5 settings, but have spent hours looking with no luck. ?? Ok, did that and inserted a disk with images-- interestingly, the thumbnails all looked fine then the minute I dragged one into iPhoto, got the crazy colors again just like in my first account.
This is a software problem. All photos display fine in Photoshop. When using the "find" command in the finder, all images display ok when "found" and shown. All display ok in Preview thumbnail format AND some display fine when opened in Preview, but others are goofy when opened in Preview (even though their thumbnails are fine). In iPhoto everything is goofy: thumbnails and opened images.
I went back to Photoshop and examined the profiles: All the ones that are goofy when opened in Preview have EXIF profile data. All the ones that are ok when opened in Preview do not have EXIF profile data.

I really don't understand it, but tried using AppleScript menu/colorsync/remove profile command on some files then put them into iPhoto and bingo: they were fine. I also, then, found this discussion of the problem in the iPhoto forum: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1553791�
****** ME OFF that Apple would not make sure iPhoto plays well with others (espeically a player as big as Photoshop) before marketing it. Thanks for your concern and suggestions-- had I not followed them, I wouldn't have discovered the problem, always half-assuming it was hardware.

I finally got to my references. This had to do with "soft proofing" on screen in Photoshop.
So this may not help you at all. Re: Strange sRGB soft-proofing behavior So go ahead and leave that setting at Basic.
However there is a Color Management forum that you also go to and see if anyone has answers for your particular problem.

How to get accurate photo printouts using FlexScan S1932 screen, Photoshop CS3 and Canon MX925 ? ALL ARE calibrated with i1Pro . WHO SHOULD GOVERN THE PRINTOUT , THE CS3 OR THE PRINTER ?
You need to work with the calibration parameters to get a good match from screen to print. There are no fixed values - basically whatever settings produce a match are the right ones.
First, set the white point - luminance and color - so that screen white is a visual equivalent to paper white. You can be very specific about this, with a viewing booth right next to the display and a particular paper as target. Or you can take a more generalistic approach. That too will usually work well, as long as you keep the aim in sight: screen white = paper white.
Don't trust the white point presets. You will usually have to adjust to compensate for your working environment. Make sure you can adjust both along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale and the green/magenta axis. Any given Kelvin value may well be wrong on the green/magenta axis.
Next set a realistic black point. This is important. Monitor manufacturers throw about completely unrealistic contrast ranges that you will never see on paper. A good glossy inkjet paper will be in the vicinity of 250-300:1, or a black point around 0.4 - 0.5 cd/m² if your white point is at 120. If you have a monitor that goes down to, say, 0.2, which most monitors today will, you're in for an unpleasant surprise.
Leave gamma at 2.2. Gamma is remapped from profile to profile and is "invisible" - the net result is always linear. You just want to stay close to native so that the monitor behaves at its best.
If you have a wide gamut monitor soft proofing in Photoshop can be useful. With a standard gamut monitor it's mostly a waste of time since monitor gamut is the limiting one.
Oh, and let Photoshop manage color. Make sure you have the right paper/ink profile and also make sure you have the right paper selected in the printer driver. This controls the total amount of ink. -
I take a photo color put them in lightroom 5 or photoshop and they turn black and white
I put color photo in either lightroom 5 or photoshop and they turn duotonr. When they first go into LM they stay color for a while than turn B & W IT seem the B7W is imbeded. Help before I jump off a bridge.

When importing photos from computer, all colors change to garish saturated
I just imported some photos(jpgs) from my Windows XP/hard drive into Lightroom for the first time. All the colors changed to really garish, bright, highly saturated, in all views, on all photos. Faces are bright red, ground is bright orange, red clothing is blinding.
This has happened one other time: when I make PDFs from Acrobat Professional. The colors turn all highly saturated and unnatural. Does anyone know why this is or how to help? I have 10,000 photos and they look fine in Photoshop, my Canon Zoombrowser, Windows viewers, everywhere else.

In a color managed app, the three exports in prophotoRGB, adobeRGB and sRGB should look almost identical safe for some minor shifts if you have a wide gamut display or a display with a primary very different from sRGB (certain laptop displays). If they look different, and you are using a color managed app, chances are your monitor calibration is no good. Apps that are color managed are Photoshop, Safari, Apple's preview, Lightroom, recent versions of irfanview (older were not managed). Apps that are not color managed and will give you the wrong color on any display are Windows picture viewer pre vista, (internet) explorer, Google Picasa, etc. Let me assure you that Lightroom correctly exports to sRGB. They did not get this wrong.
Conclusion: On a calibrated normal gamut display sRGB exports WILL look identical to Lightroom when you are using color managed apps to view your export. In non-managed apps, the colors will be close but there will be only minor color shifts that are usually only visible to critical viewers. On wide gamut displays in color managed apps there might be small differences in saturation i certain limited cases (flowers and such). -
Adobe Creative Suite Premium All Re-install Except PhotoShop
I have been using Creative Suite Premium for over 4 years. It was working fine until several days ago when Photoshop locked up. After closing it, I have was not able to get Photoshop to run. I have tried to uninstall and re-install the entire suite several times. All of the programs in CS installed fine and I can open them and work in them, EXCEPT PhotoShop. PhotoShop is the main program I use. When I tried to install just PhotoShop, I got an error message that the serial number is invalid. I re-checked and re-entered the serial number several times, but always got the same error message. I don't understand whay happened in the first place and why the problem is only with PhotoShop.
I use PhotoShop on a daily basis with my job, so I need it to be up and running. I am also on a limited income and budget and cannot afford to buy their expensive upgrades, nor should I have to since the program has been working fine all this time.
I tried the Tech suppport chat and after a lengthy wait and discussion, was told that Tech Support does support CS. I know Adobe is trying to force me to spend hudnreds of dollars to upgrade, but if I am forced to buy new software, it won't be from Adobe.
Does anyone out there know of a solution to fix this? Thanks.Before uninstall/reinstalling any software always try to fix the preference file first. Reason is, if the file is corrupted, reinstalling the app will not fix it, as it assumes that you want to keep your prefered settings, hence preference file.
Most apps will recreate the file if it can not find it, but to be safe, moving the file to another location, will allow you to put it back if it does not recreate the file. -
I have prepared a photo book, made a pdf and when I press "buy thhe book" it tells me that the book is missing photos on one ore more pages. The book does not miss any photos or text, all layouts are ok, the background color is ok. Can anybody help me?
You are missing one or more photos - youprobably have a page background that requires a photo which is behind a page with photos on it - all pages must either have a photo or be a color - if you have a gray background it requires a photo - look through the book carefully and be sure to look at the background on any full page photos - you will find one or more missing photos

i have an iphone 4s and has not been a year yet no water damage but there is a white cloudy screen around the edges and will start going crazy with different colors and all someone please gel what is wrong with it?I switched the usb port and did the whole recovery holding of the buttons ect... And it worked, the computer detected the phone and i was able to click restore. However, the computer says preparing iphone for restore and it is still doing the restarting thing where the apple fades away and then comes back like it is restarting. If i can somehow get past this i will be able to go back to factory settings and resolve my problem, but this is where i am stuck.

I just bought my apple tv yesterday and SET UP THE HOME SHARING ON MY COMPUTER, I CAN STREAM MY PHOTOS AND SEE ALL THE VIDEOS AND LISTEN SONGS IN MY ITUNES, BUT CAN NOT DO HOME SHARING, ON THE TV, ALWAYS SHOWS "TURN ON HOME SHARING ON YOUR OMPUTER WITH YOUR ID WHICH I DID BUT NOTHING HAPPEN. WHAT'S WRONG? WHAT SHALL I DO NOW?
I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time! -
Green menubar & "bad" colors in all apps on G5
This problem surfaced when I first installed 10.5 months ago, & persists after fully erasing disk & reinstalling with 10.5.2 -- and did NOT occur under 10.4.x or before.
I have a blue-green menubar at top (main menubar) since 10.5 was installed -- ALSO
All colors in any image viewed -- i.e, .jpg or other photo images in image-oriented app's such as Preview -- will be badly distorted and altered unrecognizably IF the image is viewed at any size larger than thumbnail. Same for iPhoto and other apps, as I said.
Images viewed over the internet are fine, but will lose proper color if downloaded and viewed! Videoconference images with iChat have good color, same for online with Safari and Firefox. However, anything viewed in Preview will open with colors so altered that the image is useless.
HELP!! This makes my G5 useless for viewing "field visit" photos for my visit or any image that's emailed to me. I can't imagine that I'm the only person with this problem, especially since it persisted AFTER I wiped the drive and reinstalled from original 10.5 family-pack installer dvd.
Any guidance, any hope would be greatly appreciated, even via email. First problem that I couldn't solve, ever, in 20 years of Macs, so I'm baffled.I post this so anyone else going through this will have a hint on where to go to solve it.
The solution was simple: turns out that the display used for this particular G5 had an odd interaction with the Mac's color prefs (and that same monitor works perfectly with all other Macs!)-- I have NO idea regarding cause or in what the mixup is rooted, so if someone at Apple wants more info, contact me! However, simply having the computer boot ONCE with any other monitor causes something in the Mac to reset, and transferring it back to the original monitor leaves the colors set properly, and the problem disappears.
Something very subtle is happening, here -- and someone with more tech and system-software background than I have might want to put some thought into this. It will rear its nasty little head in other situations, I'll bet on that. Feel free to email me if you want more data.
Problem monitor was ANY projection monitor, and in this case specifically a XR-30X DLP projector. Note that this was NOT a problem with simple color-table or color values - everything displays perfectly, even in complex color depth, just fine EXCEPT the color of the menubar and the colors are totally distorted in any image above thumbnail size in ANY image format in any application displaying photo quality images (that draws its color table from the computer rather than from internet instructions). AND note that the projector handles the colors properly when the VGA cable is transferred to it from another monitor, and afterward, so the miscue is happening on the computer end, not in the projector. Only if the computer was booted from the projector does the interaction occur. Get the drift? Thanks! Let me know if more info is useful, and I'll email it or post it here or as instructed. -
Problems keep color same in picture in Photoshop CS6?
Whenever I zoom in, in Photoshop CS6 the color changes between the orignal photo color, to a more contrasted color, and then back. It happens when I also use the lasso tool, patch tool, zoom, etc. I would just like help making this go away. Any information would be helpful. I've included a video, with a random image. P.S The effect happens with any picture in RBG, but goes away when I switch to CMYK. It also happnes If I type in text.
This means either your card or driver are not up to the task. Find the make and model of the card and go to manufactors website and download the latest driver version. Win8 is still new so all the fixes are not in yet with drivers. Good luck.
Some with Win8 are experiencing screen flickering which MS and GPU manufactors are aware of. Seems to be more prevalent in ATI cards.
