  • 2 Portal Instances on Same Server

I am trying to create a second portal instance in a separate database on the same server. The 9iAS lives on another server. I have already successfully got the first portal up and running with web browser access. However, I'm not sure how to get the second portal up and running with that ssodatan script.
I tried specifying a separate port (7778) in that script and started a second port listening in httpd.conf, but this doesn't work. I also tried specifying a separate port and separate url (like portal302 and portal302_sso) in the http parts of that script, but this didn't work either.
Each portal has it's own login server installed, so I don't want to associate both portals with a single login server.
    Can someone help me??? Thanks.

    Kathryn,
Presumably you installed both Portal instances in different schemas (i.e. Portal30 and Portal309 etc.). If so, then all you will have to do is run the ssodatan script against each, referencing the exact http address for each. Once you have done this you should be able to contact both from the same http port (i.e. port 80) by referencing them in the URL (i.e. http://www.foo.com/pls/portal30 and http://www.foo.com/pls/portal309.

  • New Portal instance

    Hi.
I want to create a second portal instance on the same 9iAS. I begun the process with OPCA. After ask for the schema's names it's shows a warning about reinstall OWA packages, and then some questions arises:
Q.1 We have 3.0.9.8.4 patch applied. Are going these cummulative patches to be lost?
Q.2 The date field from files in \admin\plsql\owa\ and others subdirs, shows that these files have not been overwritten by that patch. It's that correct?

    Hi Jeff,
If you've got everything installed and you're able to access the Portal Page http://<hostname.domain>:<port>/pls/portal. Login as portal/<ias_admin> password, you should be good to go unless I've misinterpreted your question. Once you'v downloaded and configured the Middle-tier and the Infrastructure, and you have certain components running through the EMWebsite <http://hostname.domain:1810>(username=ias_admin, password=<ias_admin password>, you should be good to go. Please look at OTN=>Documentation => Oracle9iAS. Alterntativley, please repost to this forum.

  • Problems crossing Portal instances

We have 2 separate portal instances (intranet/extranet). The intranet iAS has a typical setup to the intranet portal node plus login server and 2 additional DADs pointing to the extranet portal node and its login server. The same is for the extranet iAS. So we can connect from each side through the IAS to the both portal nodes and their login servers.
When the extranet iAS is connecting to the intranet portal node the user will produce an ORA 6510 (stale connection) and we have to restart the iAS. Did anyone already experience this problem?
Next thing is that on the global settings page you can see the the login server settings and the "Query Path URL Prefix" contains strange values (Intranet portal contains extranet login server URL and vice versa). Can anyone explain the meaning of this field. What do we do if we have different login server URLs (more than one) depending on the portal url ?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Ved, thanks for your time.
First, the version of 9iAS is Release 1.0.2.2.2a and Portal is 3.0.9.8.0.
    My Oracle Database is 8.1.7
Second, it4s a new portal instance. It4s create when you install the 9iAS.
Third, I view the Apache logs and found this:
    access_log
    "GET /pls/portal30/portal30.home HTTP/1.1" 503 423
    error_log
[error] mod_plsql: /pls/portal30/portal30.home HTTP-403 ORA-1017 <B>Proxy log On failed.</B><BR>Please verify that you have specified correct connectivity information i.e. username, password & connect-string in the DAD

  • Portal Runtime Error while checking the Transaction in Portal

    Hi all,
We r in the phase of setting the configuration of Portal. We did the the template installer but when iam checking the transactions in Portal ( System Administration--> Support--->SAP Apllication) , it is throwing me the following error.
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A
Missing Property 'ClassName' in property file for layer'Transaction/WinguiSSOLayer'..
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Can anybody help me in this regard.
    Thank in Advance.

    Hi Niyati,
    I guess check through -->
Under "Personalize > User Profile" the checkbox "Activate Accessibility Feature" must be unchecked!
as, people earlier also faced this issue and SAP provided this solution.
Also an alternative solution for this is like --
    Go to:
    <Drive>\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<Instance No.>\j2ee\cluster\server<Server No.>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap\property\Transaction
and see the content of the 'WebGuiSSOLayer.properties' file.
One of the entries is ''ClassName'. The value on a 'valid' portal is: com.sapportals.portal.sapapplication.itsdetection.ITSDetectionLayer
If it's not the case, then go to:
    <Drive>\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<Instance No.>\j2ee\cluster\server<Server No.>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
rename the file 'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par.bak' to 'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par' open the par file and edit the file ''WebGuiSSOLayer.properties' (add the relevant entry for ClassName).
Save the file (still with the par extension)
Restart the portal (if everything is OK then the bak extension will be added to the filename).
Just try this, hope it works.
    Reward points if helpful

  • Portal Runtime Error when opening Webflow workitem in UWL

    Hi,
I have recently configured the UWL to pick up workitems from SAP workflow on a background system. The workitems are appearing OK in the Task folder. However, when I try to open a workitem by double-clicking on it, I get the following error:
    Portal Runtime Error
An Exception occurred while processing your request. Send the exception ID to your portal administrator.
    Exception ID: 05:33_30/09/10_0010_24209150
Refer to the log file for details about this exception.
NB. This only seems to happen for items that would be shown via the SAP GUI (E.g. a Confirming a task completion or user decision). The workitem runs OK if it is for a task that is visualised as a Web Dynpro app and specified in transaction SWFVISU.
I have not configured Delta Refresh options in the Workflow Administrator so do not know if this is a possible reason (I assumed that this would not cause a problem and would simply mean that refreshes only occur once every 60 seconds). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to Portal & UWL I would also be grateful if someone could tell where I can find the relevant log files referenced in the original error.
    Regards
    Simon

    Hey Simon,
Welcome to UWL :).  Portal Runtime Errors in UWL don't always signify that there is a UWL issue.  This could be a permissions problem, etc.  I'm not sure what version of the portal that you are using.  But here is a little trick for you when checking logs...you can enter in the following: irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.logviewer.default
and check the log file with the id that was given in the error.
Exception ID: 05:33_30/09/10_0010_24209150 is your exception id.  Search for the log files in the default trace and see what the exact error message is.  If you can post this here it would be great.
The log files can be found in the following location:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<InstanceNumber>/j2ee/cluster/
    server<number>/log
or by entering the URL that I mentioned above.
Please let me know in the next reply what the portal version is:
You can get this information by doing the following:
    a. log on to the portal
    b. backspace out the irj/portal section of the URL
    c. click enter.
    d. You are now at the J2EE administration page.
    e. Next, click on the system information link
    f. Please click on the all components link
    g. Please attach this information to the message.
I am interested mostly in the UWLJWF component but if you can attach the full software component info to this post that would be great...
Please note, that note number 1133821 is an important note that is needed in the UWL.  Did you maintain your RFC destination accordingly?

    Dear all,
Does anybody have a clue what problem might couse the <b>Portal Runtime Error</b> described below?
It does seem to occur when a second user wants to access the <b>Component</b>.
    <b>Portal Runtime Error</b>
An exception occurred while processing a request for :

See the details for the exception ID in the log file
    Thxs in advance

    Hi Dominik,
Having a closer look at the problem, we found it is not the number of users.
It seems our JAVA components keeps the conenctions with SAP open and reopens a new one every time we start the component.
If we finished solving the problem, I will publish the solution.
    Greetings,

I tried using nwa but I could not get the search criteria to be entered for this .I tried using date ,time. but not possible to find it. What does this signify 0015_203196350 ??
Can I search in nwa with exception id ? IF so,Please tell me how?
Also after adding javadeveloper role how  can i c heck logs from portal itself.
I dont have access to server to check the log files there..
Is there any other way to check logs?
    Thanks ,
    Preeti

    Hi,
Well please check that if your server has logviewer installed, if yes then follow these steps -->
Add the reference in the provider.xml of tc.monitoring.logviewer:
To do this you have to:
    1. Stop the SAP Webas Engine
    2. Start the "expert tool" i.e. offlinecfgeditor under
    <sapwebas_home>/<instance>/JC<nn>/j2ee/configtool
    3. Navigate to
    cluster_data/<server>|<dispatcher>/cfg/services/tc.monitoring.logviewer-provider.xml
for both dispatcher and server nodes
    4. switch to edit mode and add the following reference inside the xml, inside the "references" tags:
       <reference type="library" strength="hard">
            tc~ni
      </reference>
    5. Repeat for both dispatcher and server nodes
    6. Restart the SAP Webas Engine
And if logviewer isnt installed on server then please follow this -->
Use the download center on the SAP Service Marketplace:
    SAP Service Marketplace service.sap.com
Support Packages and Patches -> Additional Components ->
    SAP JAVA LOG VIEWER
    Also do the configuration :
    Logviewer_use_NI=true
    Logviewer_NI_port=26000
    The standard port is: 26000
For more details please folow these SAP NOTES 721854 & 812776.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Ameya

  • Problem in accessing second database instance on same host (ORA-12514)

    Hi,
I had a database ICMDB installed on my machine. After that i created a second database instance (Service name: BI_APPS) using DBCA on the same machine. Using NETCA i also created a new listener OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListenerBI_APPS_LISTENER on port 1522 on my machine. Then i configured this listener to listen for connections to service BI_APPS by adding the following to my tnsnames.ora:
    BI_APPS_LISTENER =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.2.109)(PORT = 1522))
Then i changed the port in my tns entry for BI_APPS to 1522 as follows:
    BI_APPS =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.2.109)(PORT = 1522))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = BI_APPS)
I then restarted the following services:
    OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
    OracleServiceBIAPPS
    OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListenerBI_APPS_LISTENER
After this, when i try to access my first DB ICMDB via toad, the connection is successful. However, when i try to access the service BI_APPS i get the following error:

    Hi Ed,
I understand your point, however whenever i have tried to use the same listener to access my second instance, this is the error i have always received:
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
That does not indicate you need a second listener.
And, after deleting the listener.ora file ,if i try the the command lsnrctl start, i get the error:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Hence i restored the files. What do i do?
I've never experienced a 12560 trying to start a listener.  I'll need to see if I can create a test system on Windows and try to recreate.  Will be a good subject for my blog, that has been too long with no new content.
Since this is windows, I'd first check that the Windows service for the listenr is started.
Whatever, multiple listeners is NOT the solution.

  • Alert Mail configuration in Solution Manager 7.1 for Portal Runtime errors

    Dear Friends,
We have EP7.01 SP5  installed on windows environment with Oracle DB. Also we have  SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0.
Please help to provide steps to configure
    proactive mail alert configuration ,
    GRMG for High availability
    Any portal runtime errors
for PORTAL services in Solution Manager.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

    Hello Venkat,
You will have to include the Portal system in the Central System administration of your Solution Manager.
As the EP system will be monitored by a sapccmsr running with -j2ee option this one can be configured separately. The agent will be started using the monitoring segment of the J2EE instance and therefore can be started more than once.
Here you should also use the latest sapccmsr agents.
The following link provides details on the required agents:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ca/118110ff542640b7c86b570cc61ae3/frameset.htm
    Please refer the below notes.
214247     RZ20: Questions on configuration of monitoring data
704349     Activating the CCMS monitoring for TREX 6.1 (NW2004
Note the EP system can only be monitored by using the SAPCCMSR agents. and then by implement a central autoreaction method you can generate e-mails from CCMS.
Automatic emails will get generated when certain thresholds are met. You must configure the thresholds from the central monitoring system for the nodes that you want email to be generated.
Please follow the steps in the note to configure central auto reaction.
429265 CCMS monitor architecture: Central auto-reaction
In the central monitoring system ( Solution Manager in your case ), Goto RZ20, choose the monitor for the nodes that you are monitoring. Select the node, click properties, & check the threshold values.
Also refer to the following notes:
547024 - Transfer the EP 5.0 Monitoring-Data to SAP CCMS
    644783 -P 6.0 Monitoring via CCMS / SolMan
Also, check the following link that has information on portal monitoring  :
    http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700002004322004E
I guess this is a whole lot of information to assimilate and will be helpful to you to setup what you intend to.

  • Bex Web Application Designer issue: portal communication error

    hi experts,
I am working with Bex Web Application Designer in BI7. we are using SP9. When i try to use the Web template its giving below error.
The Requested operation could not be performed due to portal communication error.
its message class is RSBOPLAP and message number is 018 and description is Java System error: An unknown error occured During portal communication.
when i double click the below error details given.
    Diagnosis
An error occurred in the BI components on the SAP J2EE Engine.
    System Response
    Procedure
Contact your system administrator to have the error analyzed in detail.
    Procedure for System Administration
Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information. You can save your settings by choosing the "Save" icon. The change to the log level is active immediately. Once you have successfully analyzed the error, you should set the log level back to its default value using the appropriate pushbutton; continuous writing to the log file negatively affects the overall performance of the system.
please give solutions to resolve the issue.
    regards
    vadlamudi

    hi shambhu,
thanks for the reply, yes its related to basis but they are unable to trace it out. is SP9 support Bex Report Designer and Bex WAD??
    regards

    hostname: ezpdb01-lp
    OS: AIX 6.1
    Oracle: 10.2.0.4
    Any advice?

    Hi Bill,
Your are able to execute command start SAP succefully by using host
    ezpdb01
I am using the correct hostname...
    listener.ora
    HOST = ezpdb01-lp
    tnsnames.ora
    HOST = ezpdb01-lp
    UNIX - hostname
    ezpdb01-lp
    1)
    ezpdb01-lp:ezpadm 7> startsap ezpdb01-lp
    no start profiles found
    2)
    ezpdb01-lp:ezpadm 7> startsap ezpdb01
I get the same error in JdbcCon.log
    Start: Tue Dec 01 08:45:53 MST 2009
    Error: Couldn't connect to DB
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    1. Now first step take backup of tnsname.ora & listner.ora
    2. Edit hostname present from ezpdb01-lp to ezpdb01 in both the file.
    3. Now try to start sap with command
    startsap ezpdb01
, if still error exits then pls paste the contain present in sqlnet.ora.
    Thanks

  • Portal runtime error: where can I find the system log?

I got a portal runtime error. Like this:
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 10:22_16/05/08_0007_13424550
Where can I find the log file / more details?
    Thanks
    René

    Hello rene,
    2 ways for accessing log:
    1) browse portal filesystem : \usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\<server instance>\log\
    2) use sap log applications
I suggest you to use logviewer or visual admin(it contains logviewer) applications. It will display formated logfile and you will be able to filter on severity / User Name / date / .......
if you are using visual admin, just connect with Visual Admin then browse to  <server name> / services / log viewer then  again <server name> \usr\sap\J2E\JC00
j2ee\cluster\server0\log and then click on defaultTrace.trc
it is pretty the same navigation when using logviewer
    Kind Regards
