Create a 2nd completely different web gallery

I was just wondering if it was possible to create two web galleries. Such as I'd have one with personal events etc, and another for a group or sports team or whatnot. Everything I publish goes to one gallery. Can you divide this into two completely separate galleries? Or does your .Mac account only give you access to one Web Gallery?

Brendon:
I believe there's only one web gallery to a .Mac account. I created one and went looking for it on the iDisk. It's located in the Web/Sites/_Gallery folder. Only the image files are located there. The controlling html files must be on some other Apple server and not accessible by users.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can I redirect to a completely different web container?

    Hi all
How can I redirect from a Servlet to a completely different web container. For example let's say I have MyServlet running on machine A, and according to a parameter in the request, I would like to redirect to host B (to another location).
I tried to use RequestDispatcher.forward, but it uses a relative location (even if I added the absolute URL, like http://hostb:port/new_location).
Can I redirect to another container?
    thanks,

Do you need to send the data to the second site as well? That's where you will run into problems.

  • Can iWeb Be Used To Create and Edit Completely Seperate Web-Sites/Pages?

Is it possible to use iWeb to create completely separate web-sites/pages? As far as I can tell even what is called NEW SITE simple creates a new nested SITE folder.
I want to use iWeb to edit totally separate web-sites.
I want to be able to make a single word change on my home page without having to upload and replace my entire site.
My work around for example would be to keep my Photo and Movie Album separate (where most of my memory intensive files reside)from the part of my site which is mostly text. And when I make a single word change to my home page I would simply upload that page. I would have a link from my home page to my Photo and Movie Album - much like I edit web-pages in Dreamweaver.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.

  • IPhoto '08: Events, (Smart) Albums, Web Gallery & Slideshows ???

I recently upgraded to iPhoto '08 and I am confused.
I must admit I used iPhoto before to look at my pictures but I never bothered with any albums or slideshows or whatever, but now with more and more pictures I need to organize.
So this new iPhoto comes with all sorts of way to organize such as Events, (Smart) Albums, Web Galleries & Slideshows. Quiet frankly I am LOST as to what to use when or for what ???
Okay I can get Web Galleries is for posting on the .mac as a gallery. Why did they do this again if you iWeb that creates photo pages???? Why is this not integrated in iWeb????
Now moving on. What's the difference between Events, (Smart Albums) and Slideshows. They seem to be ways to organize your photos. BUT why have THREE of them? When to use which one?
Any help or comment appreciated as I am confused ....

Events, Smart Albums, Albums and slideshows are different. Here is a short explanation of each:
Events= Every time you import photos from your camera or via drag & drop a new Event is created. This is the basic (automatic) way that iPhoto organizes your photos. Events are date based and can be split or merged based on your preferences. For example, you go to a birthday party and take a few photos, a few days later you go to a picnic and take a few photos. When you import the images, iPhoto will split the pictures into two distinct events. (Check The iPhoto Preferences/Events for some options).
Albums= These are containers that you create to easily group photos in any way you prefer (ex. Combine photos from a couple of holiday parties into one album). You can drag and drop photos in Albums. When you delete a photo in an Album it does not get deleted from the main library. Albums contain links to the photos, not the actual photos. You can manually re-order the photos in an Album. It is always a good idea to create an Album first, edit and re-order your photos there and then create a slideshow, book or web gallery from the Album.
Smart Albums= These are Albums you create that have specific rules, they automatically get updated every time a photo meets the specific set of rules. Smart Albums (SA) can have one or more rules. ex. You have 2 different cameras and you automatically want to see the photos captured by each camera. You create 2 Smart Albums that contain the Rule = Camera Model > is > Nikon D40 (or whatever). Next time you import photos from that camera, the SA will show these photos automatically. (Note: These are links, but if you delete an image, unless you delete it permanently it will re-appear in the SA, as long as it still has the required value of the SA. You can sort by Keyword, Ratings etc using Smart Albums, and you can have multiple sort rules, like Keyword = Birthday and Rating is 5 stars.
Slideshows= iPhoto has 2 types of slideshows available. The first is the "quick" slideshow. You can select any Album or Smart Album click on the Play button, set the transition select the music and you are ready to go. The 2nd type, the Cinematic Slideshow, are albums created specifically as Slideshows. They contain photos you selected and you want to see on your screen in a slideshow presentation. You can set specific transitions between slides, set individual slide times, select music and specify where the Ken Burns effect will start in a slide and where it will end. They are more elaborate than the Quick slideshows.
Web Galleries = are a quick way to share photos with friends, you just select the Photos and click on the Web Gallery button. You set some basic options and publish. Visitors get to see the photos in 3-4 different views including a slideshow, but you can also allow the viewers to add photos to your web gallery. Every time you add a new photo to a web gallery album in iPhoto, it will update the web site when you click the little publish icon next to the name. You can also set tan option to make this happen at specific intervals. (Check the iPhoto Preferences/Web Gallery).
I hope this answered some of your questions. Good luck.

  • Aperture 2, Stacks and Web Gallery

I have had so many issues with this lately. I shot photos today, picked my favorites and created a web gallery. I then ordered my 40 photos in the web gallery in a very specific order to tell a story.
1st I noticed that the order sorted some how and I lost my custom sort. So I reordered it into a specific order.
Then I was working with stacks. I wanted to organize the rest of the photos in the project to find others that I missed before and to promote images to find better picks.
Then I noticed the Web Gallery would then automatically add all images in the stack next to the single photo in the Web Gallery.
2nd. My web gallery has hundreds of photos, mostly ones that I did not want displayed. Also my custom order was lost and I once again had to try to reorganize.
To make what could be a longer story short, I had to break all the stacks that I spent time on in order to remove the unwanted photos from the web gallery.
Are we forced to make a choice between using Stacks and Web Galleries? Can they NEVER be used together?

After much frustration and time looking at this issue, and reading this topic in forums, discussions and the Aperture User Manual (pg. 562 - 567) - for which there is no clear explanation of this - You can only use the stack pick in the Web Gallery.
    Exactly!
Which means : If you want maximum flexibility in creating Web Galleries, DO NOT use stacks.
I suppose this depends on what you are using stacks for. If you are grouping images in stacks that you want to use, you can certainly do that, but that will be problematic in Aperture in places other than gallery, because that is simply not what stacks are designed to do. If you have several shots so similar you will only use one, but don't want to throw the rest away (you might change your mind later) put them in a stack. Makes it easy to compare and "pick" which one to output. If you have a number of photos that are roughly similar, but you will be using more than one - you can initially stack them, but will probably be better off splitting the stack later. Say I am shooting sports and get a high-speed sequence of a breakaway. I could put the whole sequence in a stack initially, but some of those images are different enough that I might want to publish two or three (out of, say, 15 shots). I might get them all in one stack through auto stack, or even manually stack them initially, but I will probably set one pick and extract a few others. The alternates will be there in case I find a use for them later. Same thing with portraiture. When shooting portraits, I can get a lot of almost identical images - with small nuances in facial expression being the only difference. Another kind of stacking I often do is when I create new versions from the master and make color and exposure adjustments.
What happens to the thousands of stacks that people have already created in Aperture and would like to simply get photographs online? You must rework your entire organization (if you use stacks) to accommodate this inconsistency.
I think Aperture is actually pretty consistent regarding stacks and alternates. Alternates are ignored if you try to create a web journal, web gallery, web page, or a book. I see no problem getting them online - the picks will display, extract alternates if you want them to display also.
And to further complicate a situation, when you select one photograph in a stack, and create a 'Web Gallery', once created, every photograph in that stack is put into the 'Web Gallery'
In other words, there is no 'Ignore Stack Groupings' option in Web Galleries and since Picks can be anywhere in the stack - this creates an organizational nightmare.
Yes, if you try to drag a single image to another project or album, the rest of the stack comes along for the ride. I know this bugs you, but I actually like the way it works. Where you see this as inconsistent - I see it being very consistent. If I create a stack - that stack is identical in all locations. I can change the pick for different albums, but if i alter a stack in any other way - it is changed everywhere. This doesn't take up an real space on your computer - it is all just referencing back to the master images anyway. If seeing all those alternates in the stack bother you, just close the stack By the way, your pick cannot be "anywhere in a stack" - the pick is always on top. Your "album pick" can be anywhere in a stack, but close the stack and the album pick is what you will see.
Maybe you would do better using albums for the kind of organization you are doing - it sounds to me like you are using stacks kind of like albums anyway. Just select a stack and "create album from selection." Then you can unstack your stacks and work with albums instead. Then when you drag an image to a web gallery you won't get alternates.
But leave the stacks the way they are please - I love them just the way they are

  • Web Gallery: image adjustments during creation of web gallery?

I've noticed that when my images get uploaded to a web gallery, they look very different: it looks like they've been gamma'ed up, desaturated and had sharpening applied. It's quite a significant difference and it don't look good. I checked to see if it was a standard mac/pc gamma correction going on, but it didn't seem like it.
Any thoughts on why this is happening and what I can do to stop it?
    thanks,

I just did some digging and it seems that this washing out only happens on images that I've edited, but the way the image appears in the web gallery is WAY different than the way it appears in my iPhoto library. Perhaps when it's creating the image for the web gallery it's just not making my edits accurately?
Any thoughts on how to fix it? It's such a bummer.

  • Web Gallery CS4 Journal with Slideshow giving too much info

I have photos from a number of authors. There are also various functions for which I want a slide show for each. I would like the information on the left of the slide to give the Description (if present), and the person who took the photo.
No matter how many items I uncheck in various metadata panels, I still get:
    Creation date
    Date file modified
    Camera make
    Camera model
    x resolution
    y resolutin
    resolution unit
    Image size
    Metering mode
    File source
    Focal length
    Max aperture value
    Flash fired
I have unchecked any of these that I have found ANYWHERE in Bridge, but cannot get rid of them. This information is definitely not necessary on the website where they will be posted.
Does anyone know how to get rid of these items. It is a real pain to try to remove them from the xml file when saved to disk (and there are a LOT of photos to process.
I am using OSX 10.5.7 and supposedly Bridge is up to date.

    Hi there!
I have found a much easier way to fix this, and you don't have to start over by building your web galleries in Photoshop. You just have to alter the code a little bit.
By all means, create your way cool web galleries in Bridge, but look in the "resources" folder that Bridge creates when it makes a web gallery. Inside the "resources" folder you will find a file called "group.xml". Open it in Dreamweaver or whatever you use and view the code. Scroll down until you see <item>. The next lines will contain all that pesky information you want to delete. For example, you might see <title>filename.jpg<title>. Simply delete the file name so that you end up with <title><title>.
That's it! Repeat for all the information you need to delete, or write in something better. Then hit F5 to refresh the code.
Even an artist like me can do it. No geeky talents needed. Enjoy.

  • Web gallery quirks

    Greetings,
    1) Is there a way to delete the reflection effect on photos in a web gallery?
    2) Is the grid layout really the only one in which titles are visible?
    Thanks for your help!
    BnB

I followed these directions and the albums still don't show up. Then to experiment, I deleted one of the albums from the gallery menu on the left side of the screen in iPhoto. I then went to the event and tried to publish it. It brought up the checklist menu and I checked the appropriate boxes and then continued. Usually when publishing there will be a bar indicating that the album is publishing and a web address of the album when it is done. Nothing happened at all this time. It just brought up a page of the thumbnails for the album. It did not even create an entry under the web gallery menu where my other "published" albums are. Does any of this help?

    Hi there,
I am creating a photo album with web gallery in Bridge CS5. I find out that Is it possible to enable vertical scroll in to the portrait pictures? Usually portrait pictures  are too small when they are diminish to the screen. Here is an example of an portrait with vertical scroll, and I think they work better that way. Or what do you think?
Is it possible to find third party template to Bridge CS5 web gallery software that has scrollable slide area? Or is it possible to make couple of modifications to the basic templates?
    Thanks in advance.

The web host check and found no problems on their end.
why do my flash sites not work?
is it a limitation due to Lightroom being currently in Trial status?
    Someone help...

I am also not about to run Flash templates.  The basic template appears through the website but the images never load. Unlike Sascha, I don't have a trail version.  I am running 2.4. Anyone ever figure out a solution to this problem?  Thanks. -m

  • IWeb not seeing .Mac Web gallery photo albums

I uploaded a photo album created in iPhoto to .Mac Web Gallery. The photo album is accessible on the web.
When I go into iWeb to put a link to it, I've gone to Insert>.Mac Web Gallery, which is what the instructions say you are supposed to do. However, it says "No albums or movies available."
I saw Jason's post about a similar issue, but he said his problem was only related to creating an album with Aperture. My album was created with iPhoto, though, and it should work.
Can someone help me resolve this issue? How can I make an album in Web Gallery available to my iWeb website?

Having the same issue as use, and I'm publishing my Web Galleries with iPhoto, so no Aperture connection here. I was able to drag the web gallery from the Media window into a picture page, which populated the page with images, but it doesn't act like a Web Gallery connection, because images uploaded to the Web Gallery don't show up in the iWeb version of the picture pages.
    Hopefully there's a solution soon.

If you created the gallery in Iphoto open iphoto, select the gallery, click on "settings" at the bottom, make the changes and re-publish.

    Hi JJMack,
Can you please explain how you use Phoshop Scripts to generate web galleries?  I've created a Photoshop script to bulk add captions/descriptions from a text file to image files, so I have some JS scripting skill.  Are you willing to share your scripts?
I really like the ability to setup the oder of my gallery in Bridge (images in rows and columns) then directly generate a small 20-40 image gallery, with descriptions, file names, etc.
I'm also looking at Lightroom 5 to produce small web galleries.  It appears that the post-processor from Turning Point is suggested.
I only use the Bridge as a metadata Editor and I do not use Lightroom.  I know the Bridge can be scripted where files can be selected in Bridge the passed to Photoshop and Photoshop Scripts like the Image Processor scripts through Bridge talk.  My script does not have Support for the Bridge through Bridge talk.  You may be able to add that support, My Scripts use some of the metadata fields like Photoshop Wed Galleries used them and also has an option to support EXIF information.   When the Web Gallery is created Photoshop starts your web browser on it like Photoshop Web Gallery feature did so you can verify it,   My Script does not Upload the galleries to you web server like the Bridge output module can.  I rather use FTP then tie up Photoshop transferring the gallery over the web.  My Scripts are just hacks of a Script Jeff created for the Simpleviewer Flash Web Gallery,  The script support  that Flash Gallery and their other Flash Galleries and the Flash WS-Slideshow Gallery so mobile devices without Flash support can not view my galleries.  So some nice tablets with High resolution displays are not supported,   The Scripts basically uses canned HTML for the Gallery Viewer and writes the XML file for your Images getting the information for title and description ect from the image files metadata,  The Format of the gallery is also controlled in the XML file written by the script.   I just hack at JavaScript and because I don't use the Bridge for selection and order it did not brother me that Jeff's code did not support or use Bridge talk It simply includes all image from a folder into the gallery it creates. It uses Photoshop Script to create the gallery tree with Thumbnails and web size images with optional visible watermark text stamp,  Web image size is set like fit image my scripts default size is 1600x1200. All my Photoshop stuff is free and downloadable from this link

  • Web gallery albums disappear

The problem: An album in iphoto web gallery has just disappeared from my iphoto program. I created a replacement album in web gallery but now when I go to my web gallery I see the old one and the new one. I cannot delete the old one as it does not show on my dot mac account and in iphoto. How do I delete the old one? Why do these albums disappear from iphoto in the first place.

How do I delete the old one?
THis is the easy qustion - go to your iDisk and delete the gallery -- finder ==> iDisk ==> web ==> sites ==> _gallery
Why do these albums disappear from iphoto in the first place.
    That is the hard question.
First be sure you are using the latest version of iphoto - 7.1.3
Second be careful not to make changes to the gallery while it is updating (this should NOT be a problem but appears to sometimes cause problems)
Third report to Apple -- iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
Because of this issue (although have not experienced it myself) I suggest creating standard albums for all galleries and doing all of your changes before creating the gallery - this avoids some problems and gives you a back up in case you need to regenerate the gallery due to a problem
