Create a ALV Report without manual FieldCat definition (OO)

Hi ABAP'ers!!!
To use the class CL_GUI_ALV_GRID for display the content of a internal table (not a structure) i need to create a fieldcat object manually to perform it...??? Has a way to do it without a hand's on work...???
Can i inherit this class to add a functionality (method) for made it for me....???

As an alternative you could use set_table_for_first_display and pass the structure name. Then use get_frontend_fieldcatalog to get the field catalogue.  Then modify the field catalogue.  Then set the field catalogue using set_frontend_fieldcatalog and finally update the screen using refresh_table_display.  It's a bit long winded but tidier than using the FM to generate the ALV.  See the example below.

    YOu do not need to create the XDODTEXE, its seeded for you. You need to do the following:
    1. Create and test the data template
    2. Load the data template to the template manager against a data definition
    3. Create a concurrent program definition that uses the XDODTEXE as its executable
    4. Create parameters (if required) for the CP and DT that match in name

  • Create a ALV report with fields editable and  entry to be saved in ztable

    Hello Experts,
    I have created the ALV report which has two of the fields editable. Now whenever user puts an entry in the ALV it has to be saved in the ZTABLE.
    The report is displayed with editable fields but i'm not sure what has to be written in the 'USER COMMAND' subroutine to save the entries in ztable.

    Hi,
    I have worked on similar requirement. You can do that on sy-ucomm value only and you have to call a FM and a method. For that end user has to click on a button which you need to create in the application toolbar. Say that button function code is 'SAVE'. Write the following code in your user command :

  • I've created a character report without user

    I've created a character report without user parameters that works just fine.
    The moment I've created a user parameter, without even putting it in a query, instead of
    a report I've got the message: "REP-1219: 'repeating_frame_name' has no size - length or with is zero".
    The same message I've got few times before:
    1. When in the Layout Model -> Main Section Width and Height were not set correctly. Setting Width and Height to right numbers solved the problem
    2. When 2 frames were overlapping. Turning off Snap to grid and moving the frames just a little from one another solved my problem.
    What should I do this time ?

    I see....  I guess in that case you shoul use also Cell Definition.  Let me explain you step by step.
    You´ve already created a structure at ROW level.
    1) Create another structure at COLUMN level and name it, for instance, "Balance KF".
    2) Within the new structure, create 1 selection field filtering the apropiate key figure.  Give it an auxiliar name "auxiliar", cause it´s going to be used just for calculations (not visible in queries).
    3) Set properties of this selection as Hidden.
    4) Create 2 new selection filds within the same structure.  Name them but don´t make any selection of characteristics, cause we´re going to assign values with cell option (these are col 1 and col 2 in my previous example).
    5) In the tool bar you will find a "Cells" button.
    6) You have to write formulas en col 1 and col 2 (as you were working in an workbook), making reference to the values in hidden column.  In column 1 make reference to account level values; in column 2 make reference to total level values.
    If you have problems defining reference cells, let me know, but this will solve your issue.

    I have an ALV report with header and footer. When I download the report into excel, after every 30 (approx) records there is a header and a footer. But I do not need it.
    I need header only once and footer only once in the excel sheet. Please let me know how to achieve it.

    I don't think it can work as it calls the top-of-page at each page in batch mode. Better code should be something like :

    So why develop a report if there is no data? I can only think that you have a bunch of static text, maybe an instruction page you want to publish? If so, you still need a data source, it can be a dummy source

    Have your DBA install FOP and then find a good xml style sheet editor. Or have them install jasperreports and then use ireports to format them...

    Hi all, i'm trying to insert a (Jointer) of 3 selections form diffrent tables in an other dynamic table but i dont know the size of my final table, so i dont know how to create a fieldcatalog.

    If you know which fields (ABAP Dictionary) you're selecting then you know their size; use the following FM call: DD_NAMETAB_TO_DDFIELDS
    Then you can use the following method to create your dynamic table: cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
