Create a DVD movie using AVI clips stored on my I Book G4

I need to know how to create a movie to be read by any DVD player. I have my project set up as a I-movie project with I-Movie HD 5.0 but I don't know how to convert it. Using Magic Movie creator, it doesn't work because I have to camcorder connected (??) . I have no DVD burner on the I Book, so I will need to burn the DVD on other equipment and carry the final movie file with a portable hard disk. So I do I create the DVD movie file?

is iDVD installed on your Mac?
it's the 'videoDVD-maker' of iLife..
no need for conversion, you simply drag your iM-project into iDVD.
sitenote: you posted in the iMovie09 section of this board.. ( ? )

find the info anywhere in help.

I would suggest that you go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that Advanced Tools are enabled.
Then, you can drag your new video clip on top of your old clip and a popup menu should appear. Choose REPLACE.

  • I have 3  h.264 files which i want to create a dvd movie with?

    hi guys
    i hope you can help.
i have 3 seperate h.264 files (video has been graded and colour corrected) which i want to put on a dvd as one seamless movie.
my friend did the exporting and had to do it in smaller chunks because it kept crashing his computer., the format he used was h.264, now its very important that i can create a dvd movie with these files to be viewed on a standalone dvd player..
how would do i this? most efficient method and preserve  good quality?

One thing to be aware of is when you burn a disk image in Encore, you'll end up with a .iso disk image file.  In the past I made the mistake of dragging the .iso file into the  dvd-r folder and burning it from finder.   This made it so it burned as a data DVD that didn't play on my DVD player.  In order to make playable copies of the DVD using the disc image you have to use the apple Disk Utility application located in utilities to burn a playable DVD.  Do this...
Open Disk Utility located in / Applications / Utilities /  Disk Utility.
Click Burn in  the tool bar at the top of the window and select your Adobe Encore disc image (.iso).
          3.  Select the Appropriate DVD burning drive and insert your blank disc. Make sure your disc is free of dust and fingerprints before burning to reduce the probability of failure.
         4. Click Burn to create your DVD disc.
         5. Remember to test your disc in several DVD players if possible before burning additional copies.

I'm afraid this is by design.
You cannot Airplay Mirror a DVD using DVD Player - Apple block  screen mirroring of certain image data which might be protected.
I've a funny feeling Airplay mirroring can potentially be interecpted and decoded so someone could potentially copy the video stream (which would be poorer than DVD anyway).

  • Create a DVD (Movie) From a Video Received via Email (???)

Someone is sending me a video of a family event via email; not yet sure what format it will be (.mov or whatever) and it's coming via a Windows computer. Assuming that the movie will play when the email arrives, how can I burn the movie to a DVD so I can play it back on a TV later on?
I suppose I'd drag it to my desktop, but from there I'm not at all sure how to burn it to a DVD so it will play as a movie on my TV's DVD player.
What app(s) do I use (?), and can someone provide some "See Spot run" instructions, as DVD burning is not my forte'.
    Thanks in advance!

+Why burn with Titanium (which I don't have) if I can burn with either iMovie or iDVD (depending on if I want to snazz it up)?+
Well, Toast has a few other things included which may come in handy and I've just gotten used to using it, but there is no need for it, especially for basic burning. So, yes, you can use iMovie or iDVD.
+As an alternative, can I go to iDVD>File>OneStep DVD From Movie (which I would have dragged to the desktop from the email)and do it that way?+
One-Step DVD is to transfer video directly from a camcorder to burn to a DVD (check iDVD help). I've never used that feature because I tend to do a lot of "snazzing" including customizing the themes, creating intros with several layers of video and live fonts, etc. But there is another possibility: Magic iDVD: "lets you create professional quality DVD with minimal effort" - again, check iDVD help; there are step by step instructions. I haven't used that feature either.
You might want to consider checking out the appropriate forums for both iMovie and iDVD for tips and/or questions - some very knowledgeable people hang out there. You'll find that with a little effort, you can create some really cool movies. And remember that both iMovie and iDVD only accept certain formats, so if you get an error or it won't let you drag it, run it through MPEG Streamclip first.
Edit: As an afterthought, I'm wondering if you will actually be able to get that movie via email - most ISP's impose limits on file size.

  • Creating a DVD movie

Trying to create a movie dvd. I select the project and click on share. The drop down list does not have IDVD as an option. I can right click on the project and get a drop down list that has "share idvd" as an option. After clicking this option it processes the movie and then stops. Any ideas?

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • How to create a Quicktime movie using Cocoa QTKit

I am trying to find some example code on how to create a short Quicktime movie in a Cocoa app. The sample code I've seen so far is all for capturing the frames from an external source (e.g. camera).
Also, I am looking for how to control the compression engine to ensure that I can create a small Quicktime file if there is a lot of frames with small amounts of change in them.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • Create NTSC DVD with PAL .avi?

I have a PAL mini DV tape that I had transferred over as a PAL AVI file. When I import the file in imove and export a .MOV it doesn't play on my Apple TV? Do I need to convert the file to NTSC before importing to iMovie or is there a way for iMovie to do it? Thanks!

  • Picture quality poor when i make a movie using stills

Whenever i create a dvd movie using stills, the final product appears to lose quality. I.E. the pictures seem to shimmer and move for example a picture of a lake will look as though the lake is moving water rather than a still image. Any ideas on how to just keep it as a still image without parts of the photo appearing to shimmer or move.

Just another option that worked for me:
try creating the movie in iPhoto (turn off the background music feature, if it's still in 09; i was using 08) or even in Keynote. Then export/share as a quicktime movie and bring that into gargeBand for adding music tracks, then to iMovie for titling, then to iDVD
It may be a little convoluted, but the quality is better, imho.

  • Creating DVD movies from divx and srt subs...

    Hi people!
Just want to create a dvd movie with a divx movie and the subtitles in srt file format i downloaded,so to play it on my dvd player...
I suppose i must convert the movie first but i don't know to what format, with what program and the command i must use!
Afterwards how can i burn it to a dvd?For burning cds i am using k3b...Suppose i can do that job by selecting "New video DVD project",right?
Sorry for my English but i am from Greece...Thank you!

spumux, part of dvdauthor, is what you need to mux in the subtitles:
    http://dvdauthor.sourceforge.net/doc/spumux.html
That will generate a complete mpeg movie. From there, dvdauthor will produce the correct files for a DVD filesystem. I haven't tried to produce a DVD in well over a year, and I've never worked with subtitles, so I can't get real specific.
So, first I would look into spumux and get that part of your movie handled. Then I'd go back to the Gentoo documentation to learn dvdauthor for the final output. I'm sure there must be some sort of GUI program to make this process a lot easier, but I don't know of any.

  • Creating a dvd

Is there a simple way to create a dvd from a sony handycam other than the iMovie? I find it comlicating to transfer the scenes from the camera and then how to make it work as a continious movie?

    Hi jeday,
I think the iMovie is the most simpliest yet excellent editing software for mac.
you can try create "easy dvd" directly using iDVD instead of iMovie if you just want to transfer everything continuously and burned it into a dvd media.
Open your iDVD, and select one step dvd.
    Good Luck.

  • HELP! I've created a blue movie!

Just created my first movie using Premier Pro CS5. Just a standard QuickTime DV Pal. As I've done with CS4, I went to File - Export - Media. I set it to QuickTime PAL DV then clicked Export. To my surprise it started rendering without first opening Adobe Media Encoder CS5. Is that normal?
Anyway, when I viewed the rendered file in QuickTime I noticed that certain sections that should be in colour were just bright blue. Initially I thought I'd left in an unwanted Video effect for those particular sections. But no. I can't get to the bottom of the problem. The entire .prproj file renders fine in CS4 using Adobe Media Encoder CS4. The two individual movies render fine on their own in CS5. Even earlier sections of the same movie render fine. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I'm mystified.
    SOLUTION
Only good news is that I've got a solution:
Instead of clicking Export in the Export Settings box, I click Queue. This takes me to the Adobe Media Encoder CS5. I then click Start Queue. Resultant QuickTime movie is fine!
But it should still work using Export shouldn't it?
    Any ideas anyone?

Guys that is why the PRO external MONITOR is needed and it is expensive!
And color management of your monitor is often not the broadcasting one (I just bought nVIDIA CUDA 3800FX graphic card the other day, and when I installed it, it asked me which monitor color profile I wanna use to work with... And it is much more then just sRGB and sADOBE ones... Almost like pro-printers!!!
I use hardware gadget to calibrate my monitors, but still check all my work up on CRT TV-set (nowadays you can get really good second hand CRT TVs, since people are all changing them for "slim" ones - and TUBE TV (CRT) is still the most reliable one!!! So, if you can't afford real studio MONITOR (I know that  I can't), my advise to you is to buy some good SONY CRT TV-set (at least 32" screen)  somewhere from the second hand market!!!
I would also suggest using some other DV codecs then QUICK TIME one, I tried many of them in the time I was working with DV materials, and my personal favorite was MAIN CONCEPT DV codec, although Panasonic had good one... And someone just told me yesterday on 5D forum that QUICK TIME codecs (being APPLE's product) aren't suitable for 64bit computing, so they crush down your quality to 32-bit ---- I don't know if that is correct - just telling you what I was told!
And about exporting or queing (for opening Media Encoder) ---- It is still Media Encoder's engine rendering your file directly from Premiere, they just made it so that if you have only one file to render, you save time and extra process of going into ENCODER's window....
But, if you still wanna do it from there (which I personally do, 'cause you can still change some custom setting from there, or you intend to export more files, but not one at the time, just press QUEUE - and your MEDIA ENCODER WINDOW will pop up!!!
Good luck and all the best in the New Year!!!!

  • DVD Movies will not play in SuperDrive after upgrading to Lion?

I just discovered that I cannot play any DVD movies using the Super Drive.  It spins up and down a couple of time and then ejects the DVD.  I tried several DVD's I have.

Well, that about does it. I inserted a music CD into my MBP, finished listening to it and now the CD is stuck in my machine. I can hear and feel it try to eject but something is stopping it so it ***** it back in. I cant figure out how to get it out. I have had nothing but trouble wit this machine. I am beginning to think I made a very expensive mistake buying this thing. I'm from Louisiana, perhaps this Mac has a better capacity to soak up oil in the Gulf than to actually WORK as a computer.
All this has happened in about 6 hours. Buyers remorse has fully set in.

  • I have created several short (3-5 minute) movies using iMovie 10.0.6 and Yosemite.  I want to create one movie that includes these short movies that I can then either burn to a DVD or show in iMovie's Theater.  How can I do it?

I have created several short (3-5 minute) movies using iMovie 10.0.6 and Yosemite.  I want to combine those short movies into one movie that I can loop and burn on a DVD or show in iMovie Theater.  How can I do it?  The movies are now shared to iTunes.

Another easy way to fix this.
What I've noticed is that upon upgrading your projects and events to work with iMovie 10, initially it will work... Until you quit iMovie and reopen it again. Any events with hashtags will show up without the star next to the iMovie event. SO, if you happen to read this, after upgrading to iMovie 10 from its predecessor, immediately change the event name to NOT include a hashtag/pound symbol.
Otherwise, if it's too late, you can either do the above or this...
Hold down option and click on iMovie. This will prompt you Locate, Create a New Library, Cancel this window, or Choose a different library. What you want to do is create a new library, call it whatever you want to, this will only be temporary. After the program opens, it should be a blank Library. Then go to File > Open Library > iMovie Library (your original library) and proceed to change the name of your events. Quit the program. Go into your Movies folder in Finder, delete the library you temporarily created, and your back in business.
