Create a large image browseable by sections

how can i create a site with a large image that can be divided into sections accessed by links?
richmagazine.jp

the easiest way is to overlay the large image with transparent movieclips, assign instance names and mouse handlers to the movieclips.

    Check the help files on slicing. If you mean within the
    document window,
    use the marquee selection tools.

    You are able to define a media geometry that is independent of the media geometry in your presently registered printer.
    If you define a media geometry that is larger than the media geometry in your presently registered printer, the system lets you scale down the media geometry.
    The media geometry scales as a whole - you can specify the scaling manually or you can let the system compute the scaling (fit once, fit twice - called two up, fit four times - called four up, etc.).
    You cannot set multiple origins within the media geometry and manually tile the larger media geometry onto the smaller media geometry supported in your presently registered printer.
    This is a limitation of Apple's implementation and not of the underlying printing model.
    This is before breakfast coffee, hope my random access memory is working.

  • Large image popup

    Hi,
    Does any one know of an extension which creates a large image
    popup on mouse over and it works with images from a database
    too.

    Hi Zabeth,
    Thanks for your reply!
    How exactly can i define the hotspot and not the image as the rollover? I guess i replace the:
    <a class="thumbnail" href="#thumb"><img src="sales1.1_thumb.jpg" width="80px" height="60px" border="0" /><span>
    <img src="sales1.2.jpg" />
    </span>
    </a>
    with something like:
    <a class="thumbnail" href="#thumb"><map name="Map" id="Map"> <area shape="rect" coords="33,140,114,260" href="#" /></map><span>
    <img src="sales1.2.jpg" />
    </span>
    </a>
    However this obviously doesnt work! Am i on the right direction!?
    Thanks

  • Unable to create large image file in iphoto

    I make a lot of panoramic images by stitching together overlapping images with hugin in TIFF format, then edit them in iphoto and use it to export them in jpeg format for greater versitality of use. So far I haven't had any trouble, even with large images as big as ~25,000x2000 pixels and ~90MB file size.
    However, I have come across a problem recently trying to export an edited version of a particularly large one - 38,062x1799 136MB file size. I can export an unedited version to jpeg without trouble, but when I tried to export an edited version it gave me an error saying it couldn't create the file. I looked around here for solutions and found the suggestion to check the file size in finder, it was zero. After experimenting I've found that the file size goes to zero as soon as any changes are made to the file, the edited image can still be viewed in iphoto, but does not display if you try to zoom in. I have tried making the TIFF file again with hugin to see if it is a problem with the file, but I also experience the same problem with the newly made file.
    I am working on a Macbook air (1.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory, Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB, Version 10.7.5 OS X) in iphoto '11 version 9.2.2 (629.40). Any suggestions for getting round this issue?

    I thought of something that might help with working out what's going on.
    After I make any edits to the image, if I move on to the info tab the image initially goes a bit blurry as it often does with large images, but instead of coming up as a clear image after a few seconds like normal, I get the image I've attached here and the file size changes to zero. To be able to see the thumbnail of the edited image I need to come back out to the library again, but the file size is still zero. If I revert to original the file size is restored.

  • Creating thumbnail "tables" of artwork next to the larger image

    I'm trying to figure out how this person created their site in iweb. Below is the link to their website.

    I'm new to the program, but would really appreciate any advice on how to achieve this look with the thumbnail images to the right of the larger images.
    Thanks in advance.

    It's a flash based slideshow. You can create a nearly identical one from iPhoto with the Flash Album Exporter plugin for iPhoto. The layout you would want to use is SimpleView. You can find it at VersionTracker.com.

  • Labview crashes when creating large image files

    I have a problem with Labview 6.0.2( I've tested evaluation version 7.0 too).
    I'm constructing a very large image, for example: 4500x4500 pixels. Labview crashes when converting the pixture to a pixmap. The image is fully constructed on my screen (in a picture control), but when converting it to a pixmap (for saving the image in a known format (bmp, jpg, tiff)), Labview crashes.
    I did some testing and when the number of pixels exceeded the limit of 2^24(16777216), the file 'image.cpp' crashes on line 1570. The vi to convert it to a pixmap is: P'icture to pixmap.vi'
    Does someone know a workaround for this problem? Or is there a fix for it?
    Thank you!

    I've tested the 6i version of my VI in Labview 7.0 evalutation version. It raised an error but not the same error:
    d:\lvworm\src\lvsource\compatexport.cpp(37) : DAbort: Called a routine not in the compatibility LVRT table
    $Id: //labview/branches/Wormhole/dev/lvsource/compatexport.cpp#11 $
    0x004BD4CB - LabVIEW_Eval + 0
    0x0EB710D9 - lvs248 + 0
    0x094C87A0 - + 0
    So i replaced the picture VI's with the 7.0 evalutation version VI's, and it worked. It is now possible for me to construct very large image files!
    I see no attached VI to test. But i guess it is also solved in Labview 7.0
    I used this file to convert the picture to image data:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0 Evaluation\vi.lib
    \picture\pictutil.llb\Picture to Pixmap.vi
    And this file to convert image data to bmp:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0 Evaluation\vi.lib\picture\bmp.llb\Write BMP File.vi
    I guess i have to write a workaround for this problem:
    divide the picture in blocks of 4096 x 4096 and then merge the image data arrays of the bloks together.

  • How to create a pop-up window with a larger image

    Again, I'm looking to do something very simple and can't figure it out. I want users to be able to hover over/click on an image and there pops up a larger version of the image, much like you see on online catalogs and shopping sites. I've looked into Lightbox and jQuery but don't understand how to incorporate the code into my pages. Is there a simpler way using DW CS4?
    Thanks,
    Gail

    Select the thumbnail image and link it to the larger image file.
    Use DW Behaviors Panel and hit the plus + sign.
    Choose Open Browser Window.  This will invoke another panel for adjusting the size and other attributes of your pop-up window.
    Hit OK.

  • Creating a custom DataBuffer for very LARGE images

    I would like to work with very large images (up to 100MB) in an application.
    Only for image manipulating, not rendering for screen.
    My idea is to write my own DataBuffer which use Hard Drive,maybe with some "intelligent" swapping.
    But At first performance doesnt matter.
    I try this:ColorModel cm = ColorModel.getRGBdefault();
    SampleModel sm = cm.createCompatibleSampleModel(w,h);
    DataBuffer db =  new  myDataBufferInt(size);
    WritableRaster raster = Raster.createWritableRaster(sm,db,null);But somebody dont like myDataBuffer

    public  class myDataBufferInt extends DataBuffer {
    public myDataBufferInt(int size) {
            super(TYPE_INT,size);
        . . . }The question is how to manage large image?
    What kind of subclasses I have to write?
    Thank you all

  • Tiling or slicing large images in tables? Completely outdated?

    I'm working through the XHTML tutorials on Lynda.com
    The instructor does a demo of slicing a large image with sections that have animated .gifs. He slices the static portions and slices the animated portions and then combines them in a 3 slice x 3 slice table.
    He says "I still prefer to do this with tables, since it's what it was designed for."
    I know tables are outdated, but I'm not sure if it's in all respects. Like if I was going to do a data table, I certainly would use tables...
    Im not sure when this video was made, but is it still in practice and a good practice?
    He then shows a similar demo of how to combine slices using CSS. Is this outdated too? Are people still slicing large images?

    Unlike print design where everything is static and unchanging, web pages need to be flexible and web accessible to accommodate all users, displays and devices.
    Image slices have their plusses and minuses.  Occasionally, you may need them to create a flexible container that resizes to content.
         3 image slices in a CSS layout ~
         http://alt-web.com/DEMOS/Image-slices-in-a-CSS-based-layout.shtml
    That said, you can add visual interest to web pages without a lot of images using CSS.
         2-image web page design ~
         http://alt-web.com/TEMPLATES/2-image-web-design.shtml
    Finally, have a look at CSS Zen Garden where the power of CSS is demonstrated.
    Each page contains identical HTML markup but with wildly different styles.
    Hopefully this will inspire you to move away from tables and use CSS for primary layouts.

  • Create a "draggable" image in Flash CS6 Pro

    Hi folks,
    Firstly, whilst the answer would be great, i'm also hoping for people to point me in the right direction for finding these answers myself...
    I'm new to CS6, and relatively innexperienced with flash in general (certainly new to AS3).
    I'm working my way through a project, and right now, i'm trying to create a background image or layer, that that is bigger than my canvas, the idea being that you can click, and drag the mouse to look around it, but NOT pull the edges of the image over the canvas (i'm sure theres a more appropriate word than canvas too).
    My main issue is that i'm struggling with terminology, so whilst I know what i want to acheive, putting it into words that experts understand, or gives relevant google hits, is proving to be an issue.
    Hope someone can help.
    Tim.

    This is pretty easy but will require some code. Here's a sample file you can look at. (we call the canvas the "Stage").
    In this example I made a 200x200 document size with an object that is 400x400. What the code will do is figure out how much larger the image is than the stage. It will then calculate a rectangle size and position where the object is allowed to be dragged.
    Example FLA (saved down to CS4)
    The code is pretty simple:
    // what code to run when the mouse is pressed
    mygfx.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, handleMouseDownF);
    // what code to run when the mouse is released or leaves the
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, handleMouseUpF);
    function handleMouseDownF(e:MouseEvent):void
              // get the extra area we need which it's allowed
              // to move in (object size minus the stage size)
              var extraWidth:int = int(mygfx.width - stage.stageWidth);
              var extraHeight:int = int(mygfx.height - stage.stageHeight);
              // use that extra space to make a negative value rectangle
              mygfx.startDrag(false,new Rectangle(
                        (-1 * extraWidth), // x
                        (-1 * extraHeight), // y
                        extraWidth, // width
                        extraHeight)); // height
    function handleMouseUpF(e:MouseEvent):void
              mygfx.stopDrag();
    To start I converted the big ugly object into a symbol (F8), a MovieClip. I then clicked on that MovieClip and in the properties panel I gave it the instance name "mygfx". This allows me to access that object in code by just using it's name, like you see in the code above. I'm trying to keep it simple.
    I attached a couple listeners for the events MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN (the user is holding down the left mouse button on the object) and MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP (the user let the left button go). I'm running a different function for those 2 different events as you can see.
    The math is easy but the concept of what's going on here is a little harder to explain.
    When I created the symbol, I used the default upper left registration point. That means any time you move the object on stage, the x/y position reported in the Info Panel will be the location ot the "upper left" of the object. Check the help section if you don't know what registration points are.
    With upper left registration and the object placed at x:0, y:0 on the stage, you can only see 1/4 of the upper left of the image. In this circumstance you can use a special function called "startDrag()" on any display object to allow the user to drag it. To keep it on screen you can specify a rectangular area it must be confined to. That's where the simple math came in.
    I subtracted the stages size from the larger image size which told me how many pixels to the left and up the drag was allowed to go. You want to subtract the stage size so you reduce the amount it can move so it won't go off the stage. We know the stage is 200x200 and the object is double at 400x400, so 400-200=200. So I want to make the limiting bounding Rectangle(-200,-200,200,200). That means I can move the object up negative 200 pixels and left negative 200 pixels. If you change the size of the object the math will calculate the correct amount (as long as the image is larger than the stage height/width). Just keeping it easy for now.
    Lastly when the user lets the mouse up the dragging is stopped with the display objects "stopDrag()" function.
