How exactly can I load TEXT DATA to a Hyperion Planning application?

I have a data file that has TEXT data that I want to load to planning. I do not wish for this text data to be displayed in a Smart List, rather I want to use the new Planning data type "Text"
In chapter 5 of the Planning Admin Guide in the Matrix for Data Load Tools, it says the Planning Outline Load Utility can load Text Data values.
I can't make sense out of the the instructions to load data with this utility. Can someone please help me?

I like your idea of flipping the Data Load Dimension and the Driver Dimension. Unfortunately Planning won't let me set Period as a Data Load Dimension.
I only get Account, CCCC, Employee, SCCC, and SAU_CAU_Facility (5 of the 11 dimensions in this application).
So that's why I set the Data Load Dimension and the Driver Dimension as I did. It ran but with some kickouts on missing members. So 16 of the 19 records I sent processed and I understand why these three kicked out in the error file:_

Getting error in loading Text data to Planning

Hi,
I am planning to load text data to Planning. Following John's blog to do this,

I have Completed Data Load Administration task also in the Planning app.
I have mapped Data file and SQL table to the Target. When i map Text_Id with FY13(In blog it is MP3), that Join is showing x(wrong symbol) on that.
Is it means, mapping is not correct??
After that if i click on Flow tab, it is not showing any diagrams. I am getting this msg instead of diagrams,
odi-20350 your diagram contains one or more FATAL/CRITICAL errors preventing display of the Flow Editor
(I guess, because it contains errors in the mapping)
where can i find the error logs or error msg's regarding the issue in the ODI??
Any comments would be appreciated...!

I have followed exact steps from your blog to load Textdata to Hyperion 11.1.1.3. But after executing the inferface i am getting the below error.
TP1 is Period dimension member.(Driver Dimension member name). In the error msg, it is showing as Object not found. But i have that member is there in Hyperion Planning application.

How to load text data from multiple source systems.

Hello Gurus,
I am facing an issue of loading master data text into 0Material. I have loaded attribute data from 2 source systems. But i am not able load text data from the same 2 source systems as i am not able to see 0logsys in transfermation rules of 0MATERIAL.
Please gimme some inputs to proceed.

Hi,
I dont think that you need the source system info here, texts are mapped to attributs and attributs to source systems.
so try to load simply:
material key, text, lang (optional)

go to transactio rso2 in your source system ie r/3.
there u have three three fields for transaction data
attributes.
text.
choose text and proceed as u did for trancsaction data load.

Error while loading text data from R3 to BW

Hi,
After mapping my DataSource created in R/3 system to my Infosource, I was taken to the maintenance screen of the transfer structure. I proposed the transfer rules. But my traffic signal of my transfer rule is not turning green. If I continue to activate my transfer rules and then tried to schedule for data load. I encounter an error during extraction.
I received a message in the AWB when trying to schedule the load.
"Assign a language field to IOBJ 0LANGU; longtext"
When I tried to schedule the load(by pressing continue for the message)
I got the following errors:
Transfer errors:
--Data Package 1: Arrived in BW;Processing:Too many error records - update terminated.
Processing errors:
--Data Package 1(2821 Records):Errors occured
Update(0new/0changed) Errors occured
Record 1:COSTC45: Data record1('EI3 E'):Duplicate data record
Similarly several records listed.
Please help me solve this issue. Thanks.

Location and Employee will acts as a primary keys in both P and T tables. You have to Load Location and Employee and job in ur data.
Location Employee Job
India ABC Admin
US ABC Supervisor
In the above example the Location and Employee will be the primary keys. Depending on those same keys the data will gets overwirited.

How to have a member formula to reference a text data type member?

Hi there
I am just wondering how do you use a member formula to grab the text in a text data type member?
Our situation is that we have a text data type member in the Accounts dimension (called Project Manager). This is a free text field users can input a project manager's name. However, for our reporting purposes we want to report the Project Manager next to a list of Accounts (i.e. in the same row). The way we have tried to achieve this is to create dynamic calc text data type members in the Version dimension that simply refer to the Project Manager account using the reference function (->).
Although this works, when we run a report we get a number (assuming this is just the reference ID to the RDBMS field) instead of the actual name. We have set the dynamic calc member to text data type as well. We are using a planning connection as well.
Does anyone know how to make this work?

Are you talking about FR reports, does it display the text if you reference the original member using a planning connection, if it does then it probably looks like you can't do it using the method you are trying as it is an essbase formula and in theory it will just return a number.

When loading text data for 0material,it is getting an error and for material description we have both characterstics and numerics .
*Error:"Data Records (00000000001E00000001):version(00000000001E00000001) is not valid."*

Is it a planning application or is it a pure essbase application as this is a planning forum, if it is a planning application then you cannot load text directly to essbase and you will need to use an alternative method e.g. Outlineload utility, EPMA data synchronizer, ODI

Loading Text Datatype account members using rule file

Hi,
I have seen some blogs but still having the issue to load the text data type value to my Planning application.
I am using EPM 11.1.2.1, my planning application has 3 plan type including workforce where i have few attributes of employee(position, role,location etc) free text input using planning webform. so i define those account members as Text data type.
Note: we don't have ODI or any other tool used for metadata or Data loading.
I am using **Outline Load utility** to refresh my dimension , do we have a way to load text data type using load rule. i tried using Load rule and getting following error

You can use the outline load utility to load data, there are examples available at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin/ch05s02s01.html
If you are trying to load using an essbase rules file then you will experience issues trying to load text to essbase, essbase only stores a numeric value for planning text data and it is the planning relational database that stores the text value, this is why the outline load utility would be better to use.
