Create a new calendar in mountain lion

How do I create a brand new calendar for someone else using mountain lion?

I mean the calendar app that comes with Mountain Lion. I have my own calendar with many entries.
Another family member would like their own calendar. I have tried to create new and all of my entries come up on the new one. I want a fresh blank calendar.

  • Trying to add a new calendar to Mountain Lion iCal

I have two Macs using 10.6.8 and if I add a calendar to iCal on either Mac I have the choice of adding a calendar (or Calendar Group) "On My Mac" or in my "CalDev Calendars".  I do have most of my calendars syncing via CalDev to my server.  When I go to my 10.8.2 server to add a calendar, I only have an option to add a calendar to "CalDev Calendars" with no option of adding a Calendar Group.
How do I add a calendar (or Calendar Group) "On My Mac" and not in "CalDev Calendars" in Mountain Lion iCal?

Ok I solved my own problem.
I only had "CalDev Calendars" on my server iCal, so I un-enabled the calendar account in iCal preferences, then added a calendar and an "On My Mac" calendar appeared.  I re-enabled my "CalDev Calendars" in preferences and now I have both "CalDev Calendars" and "On My Mac" calendars on my server iCal.  This also returned the menu items missing under "file" menu.

  • I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto.  Every time I try to export to iPhoto slideshow folder, it freezes.  Help!

I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

    Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
    HD/ Library
    and
    HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

  • HT201250 New Mac w/ Mountain Lion, backup is Snow Leopard

I backed up all files from my old snow leopard OS, this notebook was stolen, My new MAC has Mountain Lion, will I be able to just select a restore point
in Time Machine or will I have to do it manually. I don't know enough to know the difference in the two OSx's.

I read that Apple has loosened their licensing restrictions on older MAC OS versions like Snow Leopard.  This would allow you to run Snow Leopard on a new MAC running Mountain Lion by using a program like Fusion or Parallels to create a virtual machine.  Does anyone know if this is true?
I would like to upgrade to a new MAC but can't.  Some of the software that I use withthe company I work for is PPC based and there will not be updates for at least another year.
It was a common Urban Myth that Apple's Snow Leopard EULA prohibited its virtualization in Lion or Mt. Lion.  This myth has been debunked over the last year or so.
Hence, Apple did not necessarily relax any "licensing restrictions" that did not exist in the first place in this regard.
As I noted to you in your other thread:

If you list for me your PowerPC applications that you need continued access to, I may have more information for you.  Please do not double-post your answer to this question.

At the same time, there are plenty of posts Apple allows to remain on these boards (by way of a link to another site) explaining how to install a client version of SL in a VM.
Actually I initially posted these installation instructions on this forum, but discovered that this forum's lack of editing capability interfered with my ability to keep the initial post updated.  This problem caused readers to have to review the complete thread to stay up-to-date.  On MacRumors, readers need only read the first post for complete up-to-date installation instructions.

  • How do I create a new calendar for the current year, using last years calendar's birthday's/photos and comments from the lower pages?

Each year for the past 5 years I make a family calendar and send copies to all he family members around the globe.  I hate that I have to recreate all the birthdays and special occasions from scratch, and re-drag all the photos onto these dates, in the lower half of the page of each month on the new calendar.  How can I create a new calendar for the current year and port all of these photos/comments into the new calendar from last years calendar, to save having to redo all this work!!  I am not talking about the upper half page of the photos only...I am referring to the calendar page of each month.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open iWeb so you see your original site in the left hand pane. Use the File->New Site menu option to create a new site. Give it the name you want.
Now select a page in your original site and type Command+D. That will duplicate the page. Drag the duplicate page down to the new site and rename it as needed. Do that for the other pages you need in the original site.

  • I have a hdd from late 2009 that I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard to lion to mountain lion.  I want to upgrade the hdd to ssd.  Do I need to buy a new copy of mountain lion to install on the ssd?  If not, then what is the procedure to transfer?

I have a hdd from a late 2009 mbp.  I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard to lion to mountain lion.  Now I want to upgrade to a ssd.  Do I need to purchase a new copy of mountain lion to go on my new ssd? If I don't, then what is the procedure to transfer mountain lion with my 4 user accounts onto the new ssd from the hdd?
I'm confused on if I can use the recovery hd on a thumb drive to install mountain lion on my ssd.  Will it be pheasible with so many OS X upgrades?  And then how do I get my user accounts onto the ssd from the hdd.  Do I use migration assistant?  Do I need to make a time machine backup first?  Should I use something called Carbon Clone or something like that?
    Thanks for reading

If you have a cable that connects and external HDD to the MBP, it will do.  If it is something like this, an  enclosure will not be needed for the swap:
An enclosure allows you to use your old HDD for storage or backup purposes.  The cable will not.
Here are instructions as to how the swap can be performed using DISK UTITY.  Substitute You cable for the enclosure in same:
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MBP
    1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
    2. You will need a HDD enclosure.  One with a USB connection will do.  A 9 pin Firewire is better.
    3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
    4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE.  From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field.  Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.  Click on the 'Erase' button.
    5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top).  Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination'  field.  Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more.  A Firewire will speed up the transfer.  This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
    6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives.  Start the MBP and you have finished the installation.  The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
    7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.
If there is any confusion on your part, post back.
    Ciao.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

  • Is there a way to create a new Calendar that replicates all events

Is there a way to create a new Calendar that replicates all events from a subscribed calendar ? Mobile Me is great but my most important Calendar is technically in the "Subscriptions" category so it doesn't get pushed to me iPhone. I want to create a new Calendar and have it just automatically copy all the events from the subscribed calendar and keep up to date with that one.

    lincolnroadjeff,
I subscribed to a Holiday calendar that I also wanted to be published, and the only workaround that I found was to export the calendar, delete the subscription, and then import the calendar.
This obviously will only work with a subscription that is not often updated/subject to change.

  • Can I create a new calendar in ICal on my iPad?

Can I create a new calendar in ICal on my IPad?

Tap and hold a file. When it starts to shake, drag it on top of another file. This will create your folder. By the way, you can't create any nested folders (folders inside of folders).

  • How can I create a new calendar on iCal iPad 2????

I need to create a new calendar on iCalendar from my iPad 2? The app doesn't have the "new calendar" button like the Mac version.

Wait until iOS 5 is released on wednesday, then you will be able to create them directly on the iPad - from http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html#more :
Add, rename, and delete calendars directly from your device.
Until then you can only add calendars by syncing :
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)
    or
In Settings on iPad, turn on Calendars in your MobileMe, Google, Yahoo!, or Microsoft Exchange account to sync your calendar information over the air. If your company or organization supports it, you can also set up a CalDAV account

  • Mail "unexpectedly quits" after migration from snow leopard to new iMac running Mountain Lion

Mail "unexpectedly quits" after migration from snow leopard time machine files to new iMac running Mountain Lion.  I can run connection doctor OK.  But the activity window is blank.   If you try to open message viewer window then mail program crashes.  Would really like to get my old emails back as the old imac is totally dead.  Thanks for any help.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • How do I transfer my Quicken 2004 data from old MacBook to new Imac with Mountain Lion

I want to transfer my Quicken 2004 (upgraded to 2006) data from MacBook running OSX 10.5.8 to new Imac running Mountain Lion with Quicken 2007 Lion.  How do I do this?  I thought from what I've read on line that all I needed to do was upgrade the quicken to 2006 and then the data would be readable by Quicken 2007 Lion.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK: This information is VERY helpful!  Note my comments below:

Here is what I'm doing step by step:
Open Quicken 2006 (it did automatically convert the Quicken 2004 data) -- GOOD!
    Do not do these steps
    I went to File> Export> All
Named the file "Copy of Quicken Data.qif" and saved it to the desktop of my MacBook.
At this point if I send the file as is it would not open on the other end saying that Power PC apps are not supported.
I discovered that if I  go to File> Get Info in the Finder window before I send it and change the setting "Open with" from "Preview" to "Quicken 2006", that the file would be recognized by the new computer.
Compress the converted Quicken 2006 data file by Control-Clicking on the converted Quicken 2006 data file and it should save with a .zip extension.
Send the automatically converted and compressed Quicken 2006 data file with the zip extension I send it to myself via email as an attachment, I save the attachment to the desktop of the Imac.  Uncompress it by double-clicking it.
    I open Quicken 2007 Lion
Go to File>Open File... Import>From QIF
Select the converted and uncompressed Quicken 2006 data file attachment that you saved to the desktop of the iMac and then uncompressed. "Copy of Quicken Data.qif"
It begins to download, then I get a warning
"Quicken is unable to import "Copy of Quicken Data.qif" becasue the transaction displayed below is too large...  it goes on to say that there is possibly too much text in the split line detail etc.
It should open in Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion
Thanks for your time, any insights would be much appreciated.
