Create a parallax banner slider in edge?

Hi there
I'd like to create a banner slider with a parallax effect, and would like to use EDGE to do it so that others in the office can edit it. IDeally it will fade between a few background images, with each getting lightly animated elements and text overtop.

It is a Flash design and is unlikely javascript is involved with the interaction. There are probably a couple of ways to approach such a design, but if you have no experience with Flash, you will probably struggle to create it. The basics involve place the different images in a movieclip and controlling the horizontal position of that movieclip based on mouse interaction/position. THe position controls are based on what values are needed to have a particular section of the movieclip occupy the main section of the viewing area. Actionscript Tweens are probably employed to manage the position transitions.

Creating a "parallax" effect in Keynote

Is it possible to create a"parallax" effect in Keynote? It is the effect of moving in a synchronized fashion different backgrounds on the same slide at different speeds.

Thank you very much for your response. This is helpful. I know that scrolling is not possible with Keynote but I suspect the effect can be simulated in Keynote. I placed several images on the same slide as layers. Then I have played with the "move" animation feature and the timing modifiers and have gotten close on the look and feel of parallax. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Slider in Edge Animate

Hi there,
Can anyone point me to a guide on how to create a slider in Edge Animate? What I need is a simple slider (left - right) and a number (eg. 0). If I click the slider (mousedown) and move it the number will change (0 - 100). You get the idea.

What is the best way to create a flash banner that features video?

Hi I have created a html5 video banner but I also need to create a flash banner that will host a video in it
I have created the flash banner but not sure where to start in order to add video to it. I understand the best way is to host the video file on a server but how do I get that video to play within the banner?

You can incorporate an FLVPlayback component that automatically loads the desired video. You could also make use of the NetStream class instead of having the component. Google either one to get information on using them.

Intro banner slide show gallery

I'm trying to find a banner slide show or tutor to build in flash a banner similar to the one on this page http://www.greggavedon.com/ . I have searched on google and can only seem to find tutor or programs that are sinlge image banner rotators. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Dreameaver can't create something like that out of the box, you need to use some type of script for the 'scrolling' to work.

Help Needed! I have created a 13 Min Slide Show in iPhoto (iMac Mavericks) but am having problem with adding music.

I created a 13 min Slide Show in iPhoto but have a question on adding music. I would like to add music clips that are set to change at the beginning of certian slides so that there is a varity of music during the show rather than a continuous theme clip. I know you can add multiple clips but can you pin them to change at a particular point in the program? Right now the music clips just run to their time limit and the next one starts. Isn't there a way to edit them the way it can be done in iMovie? Its frustrating to be able to create a nice slide show and not be able to manage the music background. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't have that fine grained control of the soundtrack in iPhoto. It's designed for a quick job, not a complex one.
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:

It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. You can select 5 (or more images) and place them by dragging in Adobe InDesign. After creating document go to File > Place, navigate to images and select them. In InDesign start dragging and press right arrow key couple of times then release mouse button. You can export file as PDF, JPG, PNG image from File > Export.

Can Pages create a large banner?

I'm trying to create a large banner (2 or 2.5 ft. x 5 or 6 ft) by "tiling" multiple pages together to create one large image of text. Can Pages do this, and if so how?

You are able to define a media geometry that is independent of the media geometry in your presently registered printer.
If you define a media geometry that is larger than the media geometry in your presently registered printer, the system lets you scale down the media geometry.
The media geometry scales as a whole - you can specify the scaling manually or you can let the system compute the scaling (fit once, fit twice - called two up, fit four times - called four up, etc.).
You cannot set multiple origins within the media geometry and manually tile the larger media geometry onto the smaller media geometry supported in your presently registered printer.
This is a limitation of Apple's implementation and not of the underlying printing model.

How can I make a slideshow of animated slides in Edge?

I've watched Paul Trani's great tutorial on making an interactive slideshow of images in which people can click through the images (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teYOHY5bGyk) and I've made a nice slideshow.
But I now want to make a slideshow just like that but use animated Edge compositions instead of JPEGs or PNGs for the slides that will play when that slide appears . . . does anyone know how to do this?

How can you create a screen width slide show?

I have created screen width images that resize depending on the screen resolution using the fill option.
However, when I use any of the slide show widgets and size them to the edge of the site, it doesn't fill the screen width on the live mode. It always leaves a margin.
What can I do?

Widgets do not support full width or responsive. I hope they do support it in the near future though.

How to Create a consistent Gradient w/ Soft Edge & Filter

Hello, Im using photoshop 6, and Im trying to apply an effect for a banner photo, that will be consistent for other banner photos of the same size.
I've attached a photo of this.
As you can see the gradient (which contains the text) starts with a grey color then transitions to white. The right edge that meets the blue sky isnt a hard edge but rather a soft edge.
Im not sure how to create that soft edge. Someone else had mentioned to use the gradient with colors from grey to white then to transparent to create that soft right edge. Im not sure how to set that up.
I used a brush in this case, and as you can see, the line is uneven.
Also I believe the Filter used here is Ripple or Ocean Ripple.
I was hoping if someone could walk me through what the correct steps would be to create that effect, so that I can use this consistently for several photos

Oh, I see, PS 6. The parts here about Fill Layers and Layer Styles won't apply, but the editing method is the same:
First, open the Gradient Editor by clicking on the Gradient in the Option Bar or the dialog for a Gradient Fill Layer:
Set up a Gray-to-White Gradient, and add a transparent stop just pas the White stop:
Enter a name, and click on "New" to save it. You can also save as part of a Layer Style with Gradient Overlay.

Static Banner Resizes - Is Edge For Me?

I saw a video that showed how easy resizing a banner can be with Edge.
I know its primarily for motion and interactive banners, but I was wondering if Edge is also helpful for static banners like jpgs?
Our company also will have to create some animated banners down the road but I think HTML5 is too new of a technology for them to put their money on, but I assume it has flash and gif output capabilities.
So for static ads in the meantime, and possible animated (non HTML5 for the time being) ads, would you recommend I start using Edge?
Or is edge not meant for these uses.

From personal experience, a lot of the companies offering ad spots are still only accepting .swf, .gif, .jpg formats. None of which can be directly output from edge. The only instance in which they would accept HTML5 was if we hosted the content and then provided them a link to tether to their banner space. This seems like a fine option if you have hosting space. But I know that's a limit for some.
You cannot export .swf files from edge, so if you are planning on building non HTML5 animated banners you'd be better off using flash.
And if you are working with static ads, paint would be better than Edge . About the only way to export a static image from edge is to take a screen shot.
