Create a variant for SP01...possible?

I use SP01 every day and find myself repeating the selection criteria every time. Can the selections be saved as a variant somehow?

I use SAPGUI scripting to monitor client status, spool status, job status and this helps me to avoid few clicks. I have tools to monitor all these but just in case I want to see for few systems;
I have GUI script for client status monitor, I run this every day morning with direct logging enabled(using shortcut) from SAPGUI shortcut on my PC; so I login to these systems and see client status; I have similar script for SP01 --> remove user id and change dates --> look for "F5" or filtered for other than successful spools.
You can record the transactions and re-run them very easily. Please refer to GUI scripting at help.sap.com for more help;

I am trying to create transaction variant for KCH1 transaction code.
I am able to deactivate standard navigation options Change, Copy, Delete for the menu called "Group" in the main screen.
But I am unable to disable the standard navigation options for the menu u201CGroupu201D in the second screen where we enter possible profit center values in hierarchal structure. I want to deactivate u201COther Groupu201D , u201CChangeu201D and u201CCopyu201D In the hierarchy screen.

As I have already mentioned in my previous message, I am able to deactivate standard menu options by using Menu functions for Main screen where we provide Profit center group value which needs to be created. For this screen I have passed GUID START_CO and was able to deactivate required options. But for the Hirarchial screen, I am unable to deactivate some of the menu options. In menu functions I have passed LIST_01(GUID for the screen) and deactivated the options but was not reflecting which testing the transaction variant.
Anyone please let me know if transaction variant work for my scenario. If no please suggest a solution.

How to create a variant for a selection screen button

hi ,
      i have created a selection screen for a normal report .
In the selection screen there is one button after the selct option for company code. when user enters some company code and presses the button the user i call a able contraol in which user gives some additional values for the comapny code.
how do i create variant. when i create varaint for the slection screen it does not take into account the other screen i called .
so every time user has to click that button and enter some values and execute. please suggest some way.

Hi,
      Inorder to create a variant for selection screen report, you need to enter valid data on the screen and click on the SAVE button which is available in the Menu.
      And regarding the button you were asking about after select option, it is not created manually it comes automatically,, you can remove this by mentioning no-extension after the select-option. You can get clear information of this if you do F1 help on select-option.
My advice to you, make effect use of F1 help.

Create a variant for Purchase register

while implementing MM& CIN for my client, created one T.code YDOM ( customized T.code) for purchase register.
with YDOM t.code users can see the purchase register reports. but some entries are not showing values.
user is asking why some entries not showing any value?
with the help of YDOM t.code, shall i create any Variant? so that remianing entries values flow correctly.
what is the procedure to create a variant for YDOM t.code?

do you mean that system is displaying the fields but values are not coming in there then variant is not the solution and you need to check with an abaper why data is not flowing there

Follow these steps..
1. in SE38 enter Program name 'RSEIDOCB'.
2. Click on variants button
3. enter variant name click on create
4. in selection screen enter default values
5. Click on attributes
4. Enter meaning
5. Press Shft + F4
6. Bottom of Screen will popup invisible fields
7. go down to screen
8. select field and click on selection variables button
   (you to have to tick selection variable check box)
9. here click on down arrow button very next to field
10.you can choose values from list and assign to field.
then save variant.

Hi,
Please do not use an already created variant for index deletion. It might delete indices of some other cube.
You can follow the following steps -
1. Open the chain in Edit mode and click on "Process Types" button
2. On the Left hand side you will have various process types. Choose "Data Target Administration" and expand it.
3. Choose the first process "Delete Index" (it will be marked with a trash bin sign) and drag it to your chain
4. It will ask you create a variant. Press the create Button
5. In new window enter the Process Variant technical name and description
6. Then in new window choose Object Type = Cube through dropdown and Object name via browsing. After choosing the cube name click on "Transfer Selections"
7. Save and return to your chain
8. It will automatically generate a create index step also after delete index.
9. You need to break the link between create and delete step and insert infopackage in between to get the following steps - delete index --> load cube --> create index.

In that case you can use transaction SHD0 to create a transaction variant for F-30 with its screen variant for screen# 122. And you also want to creat a so called Variant Transaction Z-something for F-30 using the mentioned transaction variant. You restrict users to use that Z-something. For other unrestricted process, the system will still cal F-30. Here is the documentation:

Error while trying to create Transaction variant for FV60 layout change

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to change the "order/sequence" of FV60 layout (rearranging columns). For which I tried to create Transaction Variant (in sandbox). I keyed in the t-code (FV60) and gave a variant name in the field for Transaction variant. But it gives me a wierd error - "Enter transaction code". Has anybody come across this before? This is enhancement pack 7 so the config button is not available.

Hi Amit,
When you run a report program in foregorund(If you have a selction-screen), by pressing F8 button, it takes you to the screen where when you press execute button, the report is executed.
In this screen, you can enter the requirec values which you wish to store in the variables in the selection-screen and press SAVE button, then a variant will be created. You can create the required variants for your report and then when executing the same report in background, the process goes in this way,
Go to SE38->Program-> Execute->Background, there you can give the variant name and press EXECUTE IMMEDIATELY and your program runs in background for the given variant.

and while saving the variant it is showing only 'T' (entries from TVARVC table) in "selection variable" field and not showing 'D' (Dynamic selection) for the above field.

Unable to create global variant for BEx query

Good Day BI Experts.
I would like to be able to provide some of my power users with the ability to create global variants to BEx queries executed using Analyzer. When they try to save a global variant now, they receive the message "You are not authorized to create variant name". Is there a generic role that can be assigned to the user for this? Or perhaps a PFCG setting to an existing role? I'm rather new at this, so details would be appreciated.

Your users need to have create and change access for auth object S_RS_PARAM to create variants.
You can enforce a naming convention by maintaining the values of "tech name of variant" like Z*, according to your needs.

If you have a general role for report users, add the auth object to that one in PFCG if it's not already there. In the latter case, you might have to change the values, to let your users maitain things...

Creating a variant for background scheduling

Hi All ,
I have 3 seperate executable programs which take filename as an input on the selection screen ( from the application server ) . Now the requirement is to schedule these programs as background jobs using a variant , but the variant is not possible as there can be many files in the directory at the same time with different filenames.
We need to execute all the avalaible files in the application server directory at that time .
If someone can give any idea how it can be possible to schedule these in background , I would appreciate the same .

To create a maintenance view variant for an existing maintenance dialog.
When you create a maintenance view variant, no new dialog is generated, i.e. all screens and function modules of the original dialog are used. For this reason, all basis dialog checks are made in view variant maintenance.
Prerequisites
The basis dialog for which the maintenance variant is created already exists.
Procedure
Start maintenance dialog generation.
Choose Edit view variant in the initial screen.
The Generate table maintenance dialog: View variant initial screen appears.
Enter the maintenance view variant name and choose Create.
The Dictionary: Maintain view <maintenance view variant name> screen appears.
Enter the basis dialog name under Tables, and an explanatory text under Short description.
The dependent subobjects are added in the Tables column.
Choose the View fields tab.
The basis view key fields are automatically put in the maintenance view variant.
The key fields must not be deleted from the maintenance view variant.
To put function fields in the maintenance view variant, choose Tab. fields.
Specify other view variant attributes under Selection conditions.
The maintenance view selection conditions and then the maintenance view variant selection conditions apply in data maintenance. The maintenance view selection conditions only apply if they were generated in the maintenance dialog. How to create a variant for a program without selection screen

I've created one program which takes the data from 30 tables and loads into one final table.
This program is already moved to Production.
But while creating variant it's not allowing, since the program doesn't have the selection screen.
Is there anyway where I can create a variant in production without selection screen directly as the program code is already moved to production.
