Create Accessible Forms in Acrobat Pro XI/Forms Central

Hello FormCentral Development Team -
I read a previous thread that FormsCentral does not create Accessible Forms (Section 508 or WCAG 2.0) and must be made accessible in Acrobat Pro XI by a series of steps in the software. However, when I tried to follow the instructions of 1)Adding Tags; 2) Setting langugage; 3) Document Structure, etc., all of these options are grayed out. I've inserted a scree shot on a test form created in FormCentral and opened in Acrobat Pro XI for remediate. What am I doing wrong?

Use this FAQ on how to edit a FormsCentral PDF and then follow the steps to make the form accessible:  http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3661
Thanks,
Josh

  • Creating Forms in Acrobat Pro

I have created a form in Acrobat Pro. I want to be able to email it out to my clients, have them fill it out, save it and email it back to me.
I've got the form created. I looks great and works well if you've got ACrobat Pro. But all my clients just have reader.
They can't fill out the form and email it back. I get a lot of errors saying that their version of Acrobat can only save a blank copy.
What can I do to fix this? I really need them to be able to fill out this form and email it back to me.
    Thanks.

Really. Have to say that's kind of irritating.
Not really sure what Adobe is trying to accomplish with that. I have Acrobat Pro, all my clients have Reader... what's the big deal? Why 500? why not 600 or 510?
There are too many rules to keep up with... I'm moving to Canada. They are less strict up there... lol.
Thanks for the heads up. It'll be years before I reach the 500 uses. Maybe by then Adobe won't care.

  • Reader Extending Designer Form in Acrobat Pro 8

    Dear All,
Last year I managed to put together an organisational survey where users fill in a form created in Designer 7.0 and then hit a submit button which spits all entered data out to an MS Database. It worked great.
I reader extended this survey to work on adobe reader 7.0 as that was what was installed on most of the client machines at the time.
Now I am revising the survey for 2008 but running into a problem which has just about got the better of me.
No matter what I do, running the reader extended form in adobe reader ver x.x does not submit the entered data to the database. Yet if I run it in Acrobat Pro or the preview tab through Designer, it works fine.
For simplicity, I have created a test form.
It only has a text field which is linked to a field within an MS database. The MS database only has 1 field.
The form then has a submit button which contains the following java code for the click event.
    xfa.sourceSet.test.update();
    xfa.sourceSet.test.close();
    app.alert("Worked!!!!");
Another button (which is set to invisible) contains the following java code
    xfa.sourceSet.test.open();
    xfa.sourceSet.test.addNew();
which is triggered on the initialize event.
All works fine until I have to open the form in Acrobat Pro 8 to reader extend it. The saved reader extended version when opened in any reader version, does nothing when clicking the submit button. Yet I know it has been successfully reader extended because when opening in reader 7.0 it says you can save data entered in this form.
I have tried with Designer 7.0 but same thing.
When I open the form I created in early 2007 in Reader 7.0 and it works I sit mystified and say "How?"
The issue is definetly with the reader extending.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated as I have exhausted all avenues I can think of.
    Thanking You in advance.
    Daniel

Acrobat 8 Professional includes LiveCycle Designer 8, so if the form was created with LiveCycle Designer 8 or older, the yes should have the option to edit the form. Acrobat 8 Professional under the menu option 'Forms' will have an option to open the form in LiveCycle Designer. If the form was created with a newer version, there could be some issues with newer features not available in version 8.

  • Acrobat Pro Multiple form question

I am creating a form in Acrobat Pro to be distributed and tracked throught the response tracker. The form that I am doing would have 6 sets of the same form fields for different entries into the tracker. Does anyone know how I can do this so each entry is recorded separately in the tracking fields?

One distributed PDF will have only one entry in Tracker. If you want to manage data from Subforms in a PDF form you need to use LiveCycle designer and bind xml or any other database to your form and then you can easily manage the data you want.

  • How do I edit a "fill and print form" using Acrobat Pro XI?

We recently upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Pro, version 11. We have some staff who previously created "fill and print" forms with Adobe Acrobat 10. However, now when they try to use version 11 to edit the form, they receive the following message: This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
If I remember correctly, version 10 (or some package suite) use to install LiveCycle along with version 10. This doesn't seem to be the case with version 11. So... How do we obtain LiveCycle Designer? Is it still available to install on a desktop or is it only available in the cloud?  Or, preferably, is there a way to edit the form using Acrobat Pro version 11?
I don't work with Adobe forms, so any information you can provide will be extremely helpful. Thanks.

LCD forms can only be edited in LCD. However, Adobe stopped distributing LCD together with Acrobat. You need to purchase it separately now, but if you had a previous license you can get it at a large discount, I think. Try the LCD forums for more info about that.

  • Import data into a form in Acrobat Pro X

Have followed directions on importing data in text format into a form in Acrobat Pro X . Does not work. Is it possible to import a large amount of data into a form and have multiple forms created? Very frustrating and disappointing.

Here's a recent topic that discusses this type of thing: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3397600
Note that some of the code that was posted isn't correct, but you will see the general approach outlined. It does require some JavaScript programming. Have you done any before?

  • Can I export or convert an existing FormsCentral form into an adobe acrobat pro fillable form?

What is the best method for exporting or converting an existing FormsCentral form into an adobe acrobat pro fillable form?

    Good day in2psy,
As FormsCentral is a web-based service that hosts the forms you create, you cannot download them and use them locally on your computer.
    Kind regards,

  • Once you create a printable form in Acrobat Pro 9, how do you add a submit button?

I have created printable PDF forms, but don't know how to add a submit button so they can be filled out and emailed. Currently if the people filling them out only have Reader they can only be printed out. They cannot be saved, and they cannot be emailed. Can the submit functionality be added in Adobe Acrobat Pro, or do you have to do that with a third party software?

Yes, you can use the Extend Features in Adobe Reader, shown here but grayed out since I don't have a form open.
When you do that, the people filling out the form will be able to Save a copy of the form for themselves and to forward a copy of the PDF to you. You might want to make a copy of the form first if you might have to make changes in the future since the Extended form cannot be edited directly.

  • Creating an interactive form in Acrobat Pro 9.5.5

Can anyone advise if what I am planning is possible given the version I am using. I am using a Mac.
I am trying to create a briefing form for a design studio that will allow people requesting artwork to enter the relevant information (dates, page count etc.) and then for the form to calculate the number of days that it will take and the cost (based on a daily rate x number of days).
The form will initally be produced in InDesign CS5 and exported as a PDF and then edited in Acrobat Pro 9.5. Essentially, the form needs to be able to calculate date ranges (i.e. number of work days between two dates) and then calculate prices based on a daily work rate (which would be hidden to the user). I would also need it to calculate totals say based on the following example:
1-2 page document - allow ten days.
For every additional 2 pages add a day
"Is photography required?" If yes, add a day for up to 5 photos. etc.
Before I even attempt this, I need to know if it is even possible given the version I am using. If not, I will explore doing it in Excel, but I would far prefer using Acrobat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible to do the calculations using JavaScript. The hardest part may be determining what's a working day and what's not. If it's certain days of the week (Mon-Fri) it's not too much of a problem, but it can get complicated if you have to contend with holidays or other irregular non-work days.

  • How to create barcode form in Acrobat Pro XI

i have checked a few video's regarding creating bar code eForm in Acrobat Pro X. However, i am finding difficulities to adding a bar code (No such field is available) in Acrobat Pro XI FormsCentral, is there any plug-in/update required?

omg... is there any way i can get it done within Acrobat Pro XI? It will always create the form in FormsCentral.

  • Problems with creating forms in Acrobat Pro 9

I like (sort of) the new style for creating forms. However; execution leave much to be desired.
I spent 6 hours yesterday adding about 20 (a mix of Text and check boxes) boxes to one page on a two page pdf. about every 2 minutes or so I would have a crash.
Using OSX4.11 on a 1.67 GB PowerBook (powerpc) 17" Laptop (system Ram is 2 GB). I made the mistake of instead of buying the CD package from Adobe opted to download from Adobe (on a 1 MB DSL line) took a couple of hours to download) I created a DVD installer disk. But anyway after a certain point the program asked for system password and did a reinstall/repair. Still didn't help.
In previous versions there was a way to adjust memory Cache there is none in this version. usually I had to set to 1000 just to keep Acrobat from Crashing, looking at a PDF. Now there is no way to set.
keeps on I am going to have to decompress acrobat 8 so I can do forms.

No Haxies. I decompressed my back up of Acrobat 8 and used a original copy of the PDF to create the forms. Acrobat didn't have the first hiccup. took all of 15 minutes.
I tried to do the same on Acrobat 9, after I used AppleJack to dump all my cache files. same results about ever 2-1/2 - 3 minutes Crash City.
If you want to look at the original PDF with no form text and check boxes. I can send to you. its only page two I'm interested in.

  • Need help with Java Script to perform a calculation in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 form

I have a form (test) that I am creating in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
I need help creating custom Java Script so I can get the desired answer.
    1) There are several questions in each group that require a numerical answer between 0-4
    2) There is a total field set up to sum the answers from all above questions
    3) The final "score" takes the answer from Step 2 above and divides by the total possible answer
Any help on what Java Script I need to complete this would be greatly appreciated!
I've attached a "spreadsheet" that shows it in more detail as well as what formulas I used in Excel to get the desired end result.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the "The field is the average of:"?

  • Individual, Creative cloud, single app, Adobe Acrobat Pro X1, Forms and Responses allowed

    Dear forum,
Firstly many apologies if this is a stupid question or if it has been answered before, but I'm very new to using FormsCentral only in the past few days.
I purchased an Individual Creative cloud, single app plan at £17.58 per month for only Adobe Acrobat Pro X1, I am able it seems allowed to create forms etc, however are there any responses per form limit for my subscription? when looking at the features for the Adobe Acrobat Pro X1 product it only says FormsCentral is included and does not suggest any limitations. However, I've seen other comments which suggest needing to upgrade, but I have not seen any messages asking me to. I would prefer to know the limitations now rather than doing an important project form and then suddenly see messages appear once 50, or so responses have arrived  ?
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
    kind regards
    kevin

    Hi,
You get a free subscription with FormsCentral with Acrobat Pro XI. You will only be able to create one form and collect 50 responses. To get more functionality, you'll need to upgrade to basic or plus plan. Please check out Pricing options - Free, Basic, and Plus options | Adobe FormsCentral.
    Thanks,
    Wenlan

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X Forms Error

I have created a form using Lifecyle Designer ES2. After I save the form as Reader Extended PDF enabling addition features, I open the form with Reader 9 or Acrobat Pro X and get a message "This operation is not permitted". After clicking "OK" serveral time the messages goes away and form will save in Reader with data just fine. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix or troubleshoot this issue?
Designer indicates no warnings or error messages.

This was posted in March and still there is no update! Can Adobe please address this issue?
    Thank you
