Create alerts from wiki ical?

Can I create alerts/reminders for events on the server's wiki iCal so that all user who are subscribed to that calendar will receive an alert from their desktop iCal?

Bump for solution. I have 10.7 server with Wiki's providing group calendars. So far all of my attempts to get alerts to show up for everyone have fallen short.

     I have already gone through that link and it explains how to trigger an alert from a rule activty funcion.
The solution I am looking for is:
   I have a rule activity FM , inside which based on the activity parameter values I am checking some condition for true or false .
If the condition returns the true value then I need to trigger an alert .
How do I achive this functionality.

Creating alert from search results on web content *DEEPWEB*?

Hope this an appropriate location to post this question.
Looking for suggestions on approaching this problem [hoping for an ArchWay approach ]
1. Login to ssl secure website with user id and password [CURL?]
2. Perform a search for an article/award/bid notification with a set of keywords [CURL?]
3. Parse (tokenize) the results to identify amounts greater than $5,000 - [AeroText, LingPipe, NetOwl, Inxight... others???]
4. Produce an alert with results and links to specific items [db and rss feed or some alerting mechanism]
Looked at CURL but not sure if there is perhaps another framework to leverage (can start from scratch but trying not to reinvent the wheel).
Any ideas, suggestions greatly appreciated from the community.

The Mechanize gem is perfect for automating sites like this (Ruby).

- searches for a list of keywords
- stores results for a hash for storage/email etc

Generating alert from the payload

Hi,
We have a requirement to generate alert from payload. If the value of the particular field is 'X" than generate an alert.
We are not using BPM. Please advice how can this be achieved without BPM

Generating alerts is a 2 step process.
In first step you need to do all the configurations in ALRTCATDEF and RWB->alert configurations.
Next step if to have some trigger mechanism via which error will be generated in the processing of message and hence alerts will be triggered.
Normally we use UDF to validate payload and if an error occurs we can trigger the alert,but in your case since you can't use UDF,you can use a simple If-Else condition and map the result to some mandatory(occurence 1-1) field on the receiver side.
If the If-Else condition is not satisfied,then the mandatory receiver element/node will not be generated and hence a mapping error will trigger an alert.

IOS - Create Event from Messages in Calendar doesn't observe default Alert settings

I have discovered a bug in the iOS Calendar app. If one gets a text message with a time and uses the underlined link (in Messages) to "Create Event," the newly created calendar item (Event) does not set the alert as defined in Calendar settings.
For example, my alerts are set (in Settings) to 1 hour, but when using "Create Event" from Messages, the alert is pre-set to none. When creating a new event strictly in Calendar however, the 1 hour alert is set properly for the new event.
Is this just me, or can others confirm this?
And does anyone have suggestion for a fix?

How do I prevent iCloud alerts from appearing on all my iOS devices?

I'm stumped on how to prevent alerts from popping up on all my iOS devices on my account. I have two iphones on my account (one is my dad's and the other is mine). I have all of our contacts and events separated in iCloud. For some reason even though his calendar events are unchecked on my phone, the alerts still show up on my iphone, and even though my events on my dads phone are unchecked, he still gets my alerts on his phone. I never had this problem when our events were synced with iCal. The last thing I want to do is create a separate account for my dad. He never goes onto itunes on his own, and if he needs to then I'll do it for him. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

There doesnt seem to be a way to get around this, some things to try would be: setting your phones up under the same apple I.D. as i take it you already have - and then go into settings-icloud- and change the account so u give him a new icloud account but use the shared one for app purchases etc, i'd also advise doing the same for imessage so u dont recieve each others messages (that could be real awkward).

How can I remove calendar alerts from my iPhone?

My iPhone 4 (iOS 6) seems to be adding calendar alerts on its own and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove them. I use iCal on my Macbook Pro (running Mountain Lion 10.8.2) to sync my calendar events. None of my events on iCal have alerts set to them and I have disabled all alerts in my iCal preferences. Yet, for some reason, when I look at a calendar event on my iPhone, an alert is set for it.
How do I remove these properly? I do not simply want to silence these alerts, but figure out how they got there in the first place and remove them completely. For comparison's sake, I've included an image of the event from iCal and the event from my iPhone.

I understand you want to delete all of the photos from your iPhone. As a precaution, I would suggest importing the photos and videos from your iPhone into your computer. This will give you a backup for the images, and after import you will be asked if you want to delete the photos.

How to get rid of automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail?

I have recently setup an OS X 10.6.2 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (then upgrade to 10.6.2).
The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.2 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).
In Mail if you remove the server account (from Accounts in Preferences), it just pops back again. I even removed every trace of the old domain name from the apple.com.mail.plist file but when I re-open Mail that darned server account (with the old domain name) just pops up again.
In iCal its slightly different in that you can remove the account and it stays away while you have iCal open. But as soon as you close and re-open it, that server account just pops up again!
I thought it might be something to do with Kerberos and found a Kerberos file on the client which had the old domain name throughout it - I changed all these references to the new domain name, but still the same behaviour in Mail and iCal.
This is doing my head in. Any ideas?

I totally agree. I just wasted .5 hrs trying to figure out how to manipulate and sync the reminders with the iCAl. Thanks for posting this thread online, I can stop wasting my time now. Apple, please change it back or make these apps sync.
Side note. I was creating my to do list and found the ability to asign a date by draging the task to the calendar in the bottom right. Then I discovered that I can drag that same reminder/to-do task into iCal and it will be created as an event. Would be great if I could simply sync the reminders to iCal instead of draging them over though. Then when I make the change in one the other can update with the next sync. This also prevents human error if I drag and drop the reminder onto the wrong date in iCal.

HT2513 Cannot Create New Events in iCal

I recently deleted a large number of appointments from my iCal using my MacBook. Now, iCal on the MacBook will not allow me to see new events I want to create, but it will push the new events to my other devices using iCloud. What's going on?

Hmm....I was able to fix my issues. I'll share it here in the event it can help you.
While iCal was closed I simply moved to trash the folder "/Users/<my username>/Library/Application Support/iCAl/" I then re-opened iCal and I could then create new or import old ".ics" files, close iCal and re-open with all information being retained. Sweet!

Lion no longer supports PowerPC apps. If this is Microsoft Office 2008 (Entourage 2008) then you should disable the syncing services. (I don't have Office 2008 installed anymore so I don't know exactly what it's called anymore.) If you have Microsoft Office 2004 or earlier, then it can't be run on Lion at all since Lion removed Rosetta, which is what allowed a PPC app to run on an Intel based Mac.
Also, I believe Microsoft removed sync services from the current Outlook 2011 (which replaces Entourage) so even upgrading to a newer version of Microsoft Office will not get you back that calendar sync feature. Supposedly Microsoft is working on a new syncing system, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Creating new Enterprise wiki site collection or creating a new subsite, or creating a new library

I have SharePoint 2013 web application, which has enterprise wiki site collection for our finance department. Now I need to create a new site for our HR department.
The two sites will differ in the following:-
Each department have different permission. For example each department have different users for who can approve, edit/create.
Each department will use different EnterpriseWiki page layout. As each department will have different wiki category columns (different site columns).
Also each department will use different metadata navigation.
The two sites will have the following in common:-
The same master page. Seatle.html.
So I can not determine which approach I should follow:-
To create a new enterprise wiki site collection for our HR department.
Create a new enterprise wiki library inside the current site collection representing the HR enterprise wiki.
To create a new subsite ?

Given that each will have different permissions I would go with a separate site collection. That will provide the best security basis. You could do it with a sub site, but it will be easier to maintain the security as a separate site
collection.

Yes i know that having different permission & different page layouts will push toward creating separate site collections. but i found a major linking problem when using different site collections (i mean adding links which reference other site collections
pages), let take the following example:-
1. I have Site collection A & site collection B.
2. now inside SCA i create a new wiki page named "Test.aspx" page.
3. then inside SCA i add a link to this wiki page from another wiki page.
4. also inside SCB i also add a link to the Test.aspx page.
After that let say i modify the Test.asxp page name & title to be "NewTest.aspx" , which will affect the page URL which will be
http:.../NewTest.aspx/ instead of
http.../Test.aspx/. now inside SCA all the links to the old Test.aspx page will automatically updated to reference the NewTest.aspx so that the links will not break. but inside SCB pages, the links will not be modified and will keep referencing Test.asxp
which no more exists ... so can you advice please if there is a way to overcome this problem , and if i create sub-site representing Site collection B will this solve the problem ?

List workflow with "Start workflow when an item is changed" will run twice when creating a new wiki page

I have created the following workflow on the wiki page library to run when an item is changed:-
And it will send emails as follow:-
Currently when a user creates a new wiki page and he enters the wiki page name.
Then he enters the content and click on save.
Then two duplicate emails from the workflow will be sent ? So can anyone advice why creating a new wiki page will fire the workflow twice ?

Have you see the library where the wiki pages are stored. You can see how many occurrences of the workflow has been run.
Anyway, instead of using "wait for", can we put a condition that says, if Assign To:Approver is not empty. then email.
i use if instead of wait and it worked well, thanks
