Create an album in "music"

hey everybody,
if I drag'n'drop a folder from my hard drive to the music platform in iTunes then sometimes the folder is taken together as also just one album in iTunes' music. But some other times iTunes creates for one folder I draged and dropped from my hard drive 3, 4 or in the worst case for each track a separate album in the music tap of iTunes.
Does anyone know why this is happening and if I could avoid it? I would like to have for one folder I import from my hard drive also only one album displayed (of course with all songs) in iTunes' music tap. Unfortunately I could not manage to pool three by iTunes differently created albums representing actually just one folder of my hard drive.
Of course I am aware of the possibility to simply create a new playlist, but I like the visual illustration of my album collection. This is why I'd like to have just one album for a complete folder of my hard drive since the most of my folders are indeed a whole album. Only here I can display them with the album cover attached what I cannot while importing the album as a new playlist.
Would be great if someone has an idea how to overcome the problem.
Thanks a lot already in advance.
david

hi kay,
I tried to follow your steps but i could manage to get the desired result.
1st I created a new playlist, called it test1
2nd I put on all the 18 tracks of the album "house club hottest vol 002"
3rd I clicked "information", there I selected the tab "info" (see pic below)
4th I checked for all songs (each one individually) "teil einer compilation" (German for "part of a compilation") AND inserted for all songs (again each one individually) an album artist, called it "diverse artists".
5th I saved all the changes
6th I inserted all the 18 songs pooled to the "music" platform where the album view appears.
7th The old problem of 18 different albums occurred again.
Did I change the wrong ID tags?
Which ones have to be changed in order to let iTunes recognize'em as one and only one album?
I also checked the ID entries of other albums which appear just as one album in iTunes but couldn't really figure a difference to the house club hottest CD i tried to edit. Actually in those working the check of part of a compilation is even off.

  • How to create an album of music videos

I have a 120 GB classic, and was wondering how to create an album of music videos. For instance, John Mayer Where The Light Is. Note: these are DVD rips.

Just fill in the album & track details like you would for regular music. On the Options tab of *Get Info* set the Media kind to Music Video. Once synced to your iPod you can either listen to audio only by selecting the album from within the Music submenus, or watch the videos by selecting from Videos > Music Videos > Artist.

  • PSE 11: Create online-album without music?

When creating a slide-show in PSE 11 I can choose a certain soundfile or deny to include music. But when I create an online-album I don't find the checkbox for music to un-check it. Thanks for any advices.

Thank you for your answer, Brian.
But finally I found out that different templates offer different settings. In in the dropdown-menu of categories I choose "classical" and the take the template with the three girls in the preview (third from left). Activating this template by a doublle click generates a preview of my album. When it is ready, guitarmusic starts at once. In the down left corner of the album I see a musical note. Clicking on it can switch the music on or off.
Moving the mouse on the main screen of the album shows  a small line of symbols at the bottom with arrows left/right, a symbol for start and for settings (tool symbol) and one for the settings for the change of pictures.
After clicking on the symbol for settings there are options for automatically start or repeat and so on, but there is no option for deactivating music at all.
In the other templates there is absolute no music at all. But they are all too silly or foolish for my intention.
    The result is this:
    http://www.marktkirche.de/template/index/webalbum/Orgelabbau/index.html
Visitors have to  deactivate music by clicking on the musical note in the left corner, which is not very userfriendly.
    Still any ideas left?
    Thanks in advance, Thomas

  • How do you stop your phone from creating two albums with the same photos after syncing?

When I first bought my phone I was able to sync my photos by checking the folder I wanted synced under iTunes. This put all those photos on photo library on my phone. I recently added more photos to that folder and tried to sync them it now put them in the photo library album and also created another album with my folder name. So I have two albums with the same photos. I tried in checking that folder in iTunes and of course they're not in my photo library. Please help. I don't want two albums with the same pics

This is how Apple has always handled photos.  nothing has changed at all.
Just as your music is in your library and you can access those exact same songs from a playlist, all of your synced pics are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the album name that you chose to sync.

  • Creating Photo Albums on iPhone

Can anyone explain how I create photo albums on the iPhone? And then how to move pics to different albums? Thanks in advance!

Not possible to create albums on the iPhone and photos can't be transferred between albums.
All this is done on your computer with selected folders that contain photos transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process - the same for transferring iTunes music and created playlists.
All photos transferred to an iPhone (regardless the number of folders or albums) are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library. A photo available in a folder or album transferred to an iPhone include a pointer to the original stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view photos available in an album only by selecting the album or view all photos available in all albums by selecting the Photo Library. No manipulation of this structure can be changed from the iPhone.

  • How do i create an album

    Hi All
I am trying to upload some music from a flash drive.  It is a 3 cd set which I would like to keep in an album however I cannot figure out how to create and album to add the tracks to.  the cd's themselves wouldn't load into iTunes automatically hence having to store them on a flash drive.
So is there a way I can create an album, I know I can add my own artwork, then I want to add tracks to this album.
    Thanks ahead for any help

Highlight all the tracks in the album.  Get info on the tracks (probably still File > Get Info but I use an older iTunes).  Type in your album name in the album field.  Close Get Info.
If this doesn't work, check what format you are using to import your files.  WAV format doesn't store tags.

  • Can I force iTunes NOT to create artist/album folders when importing?

I've unchecked the "Let iTunes organize your music" box. All I want is to have iTunes rip the song, and place the song (unburdened by artist and album folders) in an external hard drive.
I can't seem to make that happen - can iTunes do it? If not, any Mac-based program you can recommend?
    Thanks.

Can I force iTunes NOT to create artist/album folders when importing?
    No.
Just RIP it and drag it from the main iTunes screen to wherever you want it.

  • HT1711 When I load one of my own CD's onto itunes, it creates separate albums for each unique pairing (ie: singer/composer or singer/orchestra). How can I keep all the cuts together on one album?

When I load one of my own cd's onto itunes, it creates separate albums for each unique pairing (ie: singer/composer or singer/orchestra). I end up with
the cuts scattered over several albums.  How do I keep all the cuts on an album together rather than divided between several albums? I'm brand new with this technology, so I need your information in simple terms.  Thank-you.

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
The site could do with updating as some options have changed with iTunes 11, but the principles are the same.

  • I created an album on my iPad and I can't figure out how to move it to my desktop. iCloud won't sync with it

I created an album on my iPad and want to move just that album to my PC, when I plug it in, I get several folders none of which have the photos in the album. How do I move it?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

if you use iTunes match in order to create space and remove music from your hard drive, does that happen automatically when you subscribe and upload your music or is there another step to remove the music from your hard drive once you've uploaded to iTunes match?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes match won't automatically remove content from your computer, if you want to do that you will need to do it manually yourself.

  • When I create an album and then try to watch it in slideshow, I get only a black screen with a white title.  No photos come up.  Also when I click on an individual photo in the album, I get a white exclamation point on a black background but no big photo.

When I create an album of photos and then open the album and try to watch it by selecting "slideshow" I get only a black screen.  The white title comes up briefly but then no photos, only a black screen.  Also when I go back to the album and click on a thumbnail, up comes a big white exclamation point on a black background instead of the enlarged photo.  Any idea what's going on?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I created an album in iPhoto and every time I click on slideshow it plays the pictures backwards from the order in the album. How do I change that?

I created an album in iPhoto and every time I click on slideshow it plays the pictures backwards from the order in the album. How do I change that?

When running a slideshow from an album it will not run properly if the photos are sorted manually.  Sort them by any of the other options, title, date, rating, etc. and it will play correctly.
Send a report of the problem to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
If you must sort them manually create the slideshow in the slideshow mode in iPhoto, not from an album.

  • I have an ipad2 and downloaded photos using the adapter with an SD card. It created two albums.

I have an ipad 2 and recently imported photos using the adaptor and SD card. It created two albums. One called Last imported and one called All imported. Will it create two albums every time I import photos this way? If you delete from either album, it takes it out of the other. Seems it would take up double the space every time I import this way. I am new to this..

I don't believe it creates two separate albums, just two 'folders' to access the photos...and the next time you import photos, the 'last imported' should only reflect those newer photos.
It's my understanding that it does this just to make the newly imported easier to find rather than you having to scroll all the way to the bottom of your photos folder.
Think of it like the 'last documents' option in Word. A document will never live 'forever' in that category, it'll be replaced as soon as there are newer last documents.
