Create an audiobook MP3?

Hello,
My wife has writen an independent short-story and we want to create an audiobook MP3 to post on our website. From what I gather, audiobook MP3 are somewhat different than a regular MP3 in that the iPod somehow "remembers" where you last were when listening. I know this works with podcasts.
Is this true?
If so, how does one create such a file?
Thanks,
Kristin.

ok, some searching online and a simple script does this.

incase anyone else needed this...
thanks,

  • Create an audiobook playlist

Hi.  I ripped some Spanish lessons from CD, and now I want to:
-change the tracks to "audiobook" rather than "music";  and
    -create an audiobook playlist.
I don't want the audiobook tracks shuffling through with music.
    Thanks for your help.

Select tracks, use CTRL-I to Get. Info., on Options tab set Media Kind to Audiobook, create a blank playlist, drag the tracks in.

  • Having problem with playing audiobook .mp3 files

I have downloaded some audiobook mp3 files. I can transfer them fine to the Ipod, but when I choose the file to play, it goes through all the steps right up to the playing of the mp3 file, then the backlight shuts off, the screen wipes out and the white apple logo comes on and reboots into the main menu screen list.
As long as I continue to choose these audiobook mp3 files the Ipod will continue to reboot and not play the file.
I have downloaded the same audiobooks on 2 different occasions, and the same thing happens. The files do play through the iTunes library list from my computer.
Any ideas on how to solve this?? I don't have any problems playing any of the other audio book mp3 files that I have dragged and dropped onto the Ipod.

  • How to Create an Audiobook Folder -- Need Help

My MacBook Pro, which I just bought, has no Audiobook library in iTunes, which I had never used before, so it was completely empty of any files when I did the following import. I just imported two CDs of .cda files -- from the "Teach Yourself Romanian" set so that I could export them to my iPod Touch and learn Romanian on the go. However, the files went into the iTunes Music library. Although I went into the Get Info window and changed "Music" to "Audiobook" for the first .cda file, doing so did not create an Audiobook library in iTunes. So what do I have to do to create this library? I asked the guy who teaches the iTunes workshop at the main San Francisco Apple store, but he had never seen this problem and didn't know the answer.

I was able to answer this question after talking with Apple support on the phone.

  • Create an audiobook from MP3 files?

    Hi all,
I've just bought a couple of Audiobooks from Buzzymedia. These come on a CD as multiple MP3 files.
Is there any way to turn these into one or two audiobooks rather than loads of mp3 files that I have to sync and make sure are played in the right order ?

Thanks, but that's not going to solve this for me I'm afraid.
The CD's I've got just contain MP3s, so there's no way to rip them afresh. As for just joining the tracks, the appendix only deals with doing this with WAV files, and the only software it mentions is for Windows, which I don't have access to

  • Audiobooks mp3 files not showing up in iTunes or on shuffle?

I recently purchased some audio books that are mp3. They were a zip file, and I extracted the files, but they won't show up in iTunes. I attempted to just drage the files onto my shuffle (which appeared to work, as I received a "copying" message), but they aren't showing up there either. Help!

    Starting from scratch...
Extract the files from the zipped folder. In Windows 7, right-click the zipped folder and select Extract All...
You should be given an option about where you want to put the extracted files. If not, or it you need to move those files, the usual place to put them is in the Music/iTunes/iTunes Music folder. I suggest that you put audiobooks in a folder named Audiobooks (to keep things organised). You must move them before importing them into iTunes. If you move them afterwards, iTunes will lose them. If there is not currently an Audiobooks folder in iTunes, then create one. So looking into the folders, the path should be as follows:
    Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Audiobooks/<artist name>/<album title>/ and then the individual MP3s.
    Once you have the MP3s where you want them, it should be possible to drag the folder into iTunes. Alternatively, in iTunes;
    so that you can then select Add Folder to Library;
and simply navigate to the folder that has the audiobook files in and add.
That's it. They are now in your iTunes Library.
However, you will probably find that the files import into your iTunes as Music files, and you may want to change them to Audiobooks. To do that, in iTunes, find the files you have just imported, highlight all of them and then select File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind and change the Media Kind to Audiobooks.

  • How do I save all tracks as one and create one file/mp3?

I have logic pro 8 and I am a rapper. I created a song, which is about 6 tracks long. Now that I have finished the song, I want to save the COMPLETE product as one file, a file type that can be played in Itunes. When I try to save it, it only saves each track as an individual file.
    Can someone help me?

You have to BOUNCE the finished product. If you look at page 601 of the user guide, it explains it there in detail. You can output the file in several formats, including MP3.

  • Creating Whole Audiobooks in iTunes

I've ripped the CD's of an Audiobook into iTunes. The book is 24 CD's long and has hundreds of separate tracks within it. In the 'Info' section for each track, I've clicked on 'Options' tab and set 'Media Type' to Audiobook. When I click on Audiobooks in the iTunes media menu all the tracks just appear a one long messy list rather than a single book I can click on and navigate.
Also, in cover flow - all of the separate 24 discs appear seperately.
Is there anything I can do to improve this situation?
    Thanks
    Gareth

I'm pretty sure that's haw it works on a pc. On a Mac I organize myq photos in iPhoto. When syncing my iPad, under photos, I see a list of all the albums I have in iPhoto and I can choose which albums I want synced to my iPad.
I'll assume it works the same way on your pc. Select the main photo folder under photos in iTunes on your Pf. I'm expecting you will then see a listof the folders you created so you can choose which ones will sync.

Please advise software I should use for simple editing to create mp3 CDs or DVDs of my trainings to give to my students. I own Logic Pro and of course have Garage Band. Should I use one of these programs or buy another? And what about printing onto the CDs the topic to give a professional looking final product?

  • Create a new MP3 file from an existing AIFF or MPEG file

The iTunes 9 on my old Mac allows me to create an MP3 version of a song track in the Advanced pull-down menu. The iTunes 10 on my new iMac only allows me to create an AIFF file in Advanced. Is there a way to make these conversions in iTunes 10? I want to be able to create a CD using MP3 files (of classical music NOT purchased from the iTunes store). Thanks for advice.

The conversion setting in the Advanced menu reflects the Import Setting in iTunes > Preferences > General. Change the Import Setting to MP3 and the Advanced menu will also change to MP3. When you have finished your conversions, reset the Import Setting to the format you prefer.

  • Unable to set audiobook MP3s to books now?

I have imported a number of audiobooks as MP3s (some from Mp3 files, some from au files) so I could add them to my iPod/iPhone/etc. and listen to them wherever. They imported as music, but it used to let me change them to audiobooks/books (Options/Media Kind). It would dump a lot of that info every time it upgraded, so I often had to go back in and re-sort and re-change them to books, but now it won't let me change them. It's a pain in the assets as I HATE mixing my music with my books but love to set my library on random. Can't do that now without running into the fricking audiobooks. Usually SEVERAL of them in very short order.
So, ***? And how do I fix it? I have found that if I convert the files--to the same DARN file type--it will let me change them to an audiobook, moving them out of the Music area. Again, ***?
Now this would sound like a good fix, but I have--literally--hundreds of files--figure 10 to 20 or more books, 5 to 12 CDs per book, 20 to 90 files PER CD! It adds up quickly to hours of work to get them all converted (TO THE SAME D@@@ FILE TYPE) and then re-categorized. And it's also true of some old downloaded Audible content.
I'm getting ****** again just writing about it. I thought Apple was all about making things EASIER for their users? This is NOT easier, and iTunes has repeatedly done things like this, making MORE work for us than less. Very, very frustrating because I love the iTunes accessibility and a number of things about the program.

Thanks. Still annoying but at least it fixed most of it.
Now I just have to b1tch about the new interface, which is HORRIBLE--you either choose the list view or waste a ton of space viewing album covers, and have way fewer options on how to organize your selections. Plus, in the audiobooks area, you can no longer separate things by genre, CD, or anything other than by author. Whoever is doing the interfaces needs to stop wearing his butt for a hat and actually LOOK at how people will be USING the software. I swear, since Jobs passed away, the Apple designers seem to be getting more and more like Microsoft every iteration, which defeats the whole idea of Apple.

  • Create M4A to MP3 or WAV

I'm new to iTunes and need some assistance. I just purchased an album and it was downloaded to my computer in M4A format. I can not burn this to a disc as a MP3. How can I convert these files so I can burn to a disc?

If the album was iTunes Plus standard you can convert the songs in iTunes. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3 for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
One exception to this are standard copy protected songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection. However you can burn these to an Audio CD which will work like any regular CD.

  • Creating ringtones from MP3's for 6255i

I've editing my desired file down to a 20 second snippet. I've tried converting it to an .aac file and an .amr file. No matter what the file format or size, when I try to select it as a ringtone I get the error 'Invalid file'
Is there another format I'm missing? Maybe it is size restricted?

Have you tried restoring the factory settings?
It might fix that bumb if its a bug.
Just dial *#7370# or *#7780#, and the security code should be 12345 unless you changed it.
BE AWARE, THIS WILL CLEAR THE PHONES MEMORY, CONTACTS, GALLERY EVERYTHING. IT WILL BE A NEW PHONE OUT OF THE BOX!
    Good Luck,

    I own a 5210, 5140 and now..the new 3250. Symbian 60 Series OS 3.0 ..just the best.

  • I have an MP3 file but would like to create a new one. Please help!

I would like to take a current MP3 that I have on file and create a new MP3 using only the first 20 seconds of the original. How do I do this?
(I have iTunes and another program called something like iGarageBand)
    Thanks!

How do I open it in GarageBand
Create a new basic track, then drag the MP3 into the
track. Use command-T to split the track where you
    want.
    and how do you convert
it back to an MP3 in iTunes?
Use "Export to iTunes" in GarageBand. The file in
iTunes will be an AIFF; use "Convert Selection to
MP3" in the Advanced menu to convert it to an MP3.
Your posts have been so helpful, thank you!
I thought that it would have been more straightforward in how to delete the rest of the track... I guess I need a little pointer in that area too.
So far, I've imported the track and split it at where I'd like. After that, I have no idea on how to delete the rest of the track. So... how do I do that?
    THANK YOU!!!
