Create an eLearning Course in BC?

Hey, I have a client who had an eLearning course created in Adobe Flex and wants to create something similar on her BC site. So I'm asking for thoughts and suggestions...
Project Scope:
Host 8 modules in secure zone - no problem
Sell access via payment gateway - no problem
Host video content in each module - no problem
Include interactive learning elements in each module - (I'm thinking HTML 5: any tips or links to HTML5 capabilities like drag and drop puzzles etc?)
Capture users session length and answers - not critical but would be nice (could store JS variables in a BC Web App?)
Host interactive PDFs for download, fill-in and save - no problem
Any feedback would be brilliant.

There's some things that you can do with Articulate regarding forms. Although the functionality for forms isn't built into the software, you could use web objects:

SAP eLearning Course

Hi friends..
I need some suggestion from you guys regarding the eLearning course of SAP SD that Siemens conducts.
I am working in SAP SD for a Non IT company. I dont have much of real time implementation exposure in SAP SD. I have intermediate level of knowledge in SD and also know its customization and configuration part. What I am lacking in, is a full life cycle implementation.
So, for me, will you suggest whether SAP eLearning course from Siemens is suitable or not??
I want to go for it because after that I can write the certification exam.

I attempted to download macromedia authorware web player for elearning course but program hangs up

I needed to download two programs in order to view the course material for an elearning course. I was able to download one but the other seems to be hanging up. It states loading and goes no further. The course is Macromedia authorware web player. And it does not show a movie but shows "Loading".
Now when I try to reload it comes up at the download site "loading". Anyone have a similar problem.

Just thought I would give you an update on my problem. I was contacted by the lovely Matt from Adobe customer care, who was right on the ball as far as accessing my problem and was as helpful as can be. I just thought I would post his reply to my email to let everyone here know that Adobe do have a customer care line and people there to help us.

With regards to the problems you’re having, the course book is probably indicating these older Flash and Authorware Player versions simply because they were contemporary when the book was authored. The Player teams put a lot of work into ensuring that new versions can play any content that worked in the previous versions. So my recommendation is to uninstall any older versions, and just install the most recent versions of the players. These should be capable of playing any content that was authored for use by players 5 & 7 ,etc.

Creating an online course

I am interested in learning how to develop and create an
online course for my employees to complete. Is there a tutorial
program to understand the best way to do this or is there specific
software designed that should be used in conjunction with CS3? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally this can be done using Dreamweaver if you have a
local intranet running, but I know specifically with videos and
what not that Flash (and I believe Flex) are the way to go. You may
want to call Adobe sales on this one though. Because I'm pretty
sure Flex works without Flash but they might be used in conjunction
to create interactive video courses.

Did you know that Captivate 8 takes virtually all of the work out of creating responsive online courses?

I just saw the Adobe Blog article about Captivate 8 and the statement that Cp8 is an " authoring tool that takes virtually all of the work out of creating responsive courses online".

Methinks this might be a tad overstating the matter. With responsive e-learning courses you effectively need to build the same course three times for the three different device screen sizes.
Gotta love marketing people...

Of course it is marketing hype, almost the only feature that everyone is shouting about, but I never did see a work flow, or real time experience described in all those blogs. I never write about some features I didn't explore, so I started with those that are also useful for the many companies that are not turning to mobile or BYOD yet, and have talked about those, including limitation and possible improvements.
However, Rod, I don't agree totally with you. There is work taken out of your hand with the Responsive project work flow in Captivate. Responsive themes, smart positioning, resizing of objects, text, repositioning for phone break point, and testing with Edge Inspect are working pretty well, especially for this first implementation in Captivate (do not expect miracles). And from a usability standpoint, you have to reflect indeed on how the concept has to be, and that is different for each device. Such a mindframe takes a lot more than what a newbie playing for one day with Captivate can realize (as proclaim most blog posts), you don't have to persuade me about that. However I don't agree with your statement 'you effectively need to build the same course three times', but so-called 'single-source publishing' has always been a dream that will never be realized IMO, certainly not for eLearning.
I am busy creating a real responsive tutorial (for Captivate) and will try to explain later on what I learned by doing. Only at that moment I will 'write', marketing is certainly not one of my skills

RWD uPerform - attaching Cue cards or pdf to an eLearning course

I am responsible for providinng eLearning for a SAP implementation, using the RWD Uperform tool also known as SAP Productivity Pak.
We have created Simulations with autoplayback, cue cards and quick reference guide. We have then created a course and have had the autopalyback attached to the course (as simulation).
I need to know is there anyway to attach the Cue card or pdf to a RWD uPerform course?

As my understanding goes, there are no options presently available in the RWD Uperform Tool which helps in attaching the cue
card/ PDF file to course. I am not able to understand your point when you say "*We have then created a course and have had

See when you publish the simulation in form HTM file, they can be viewed in standard format or autoplayback format. But there
is no provision to link it to course as there as separately distributed among the end user for reference. kindly correct me if i am
wrong on this.

Error While creating OLM - catalog - course

Dear All,
I am facing an error while creating OLM COurse.
There error i am getting is ' The mandatory column TAV_INFORMATION1 ( also known as ACTUAL TRAINING COST ) has not been assigned a value.
I checked in the page but there is no field named after actual training cost to enter the information. And also we are not using financial costing.
Request you to kindly suggest on how to remove this error.

Creating templated elearning modules in Flash

I need to create a set of standardised (look & feel) set
of elearning modules. Each module should take as an input, one or
more MPG videos, a text document (XML / Word ML / RTF or similar)
and a series of questions and answers to make up a quiz. I was
thinking along the lines of having a Flash template and an XML
template which took the import details such as file names for the
source material. I also need to define the title for the template
and more importantly, a menu for the end result which allows
navigation within the output flash including to within chapters or
key frames in the video. I would also like to do conditional
branching to different videos inside the flash module depending
upon one or more variables on the page that is displaying it, e.g.
the users age or gender.
What I need to know, is what suite of products / scripting
tools / conversion tools do I need to buy for this kind of thing?
Obviously Flash itself for the design template, but what else? The
aim is to have an untrained user provide the source content and
filled in XML template and then assemble automatically. A certain
amount of coding is expected. Any pointers?

I do I lot of E-learning projects like this and Flash is my
weapon of choice.
Captivate is a great product, but Flash offers a lot more
power. I'm not sure if Captivate can dynamically load the content,
though Captivate does have the built-in quizzing functionality. You
have to learn a fair amount of Actionscript to produce this in
Flash.
If you're doing audio and video editing, you might think
about the
Production
suite.
Adobe is now also offering an
E-learning
suite. It includes Flash, Captivate, an enhanced version of
Dreamweaver, Soundbooth (for audio editing), and Photoshop CS4
Extended (which has some video editing capability) among others.
This might be the best bet if you haven't made a purchase yet.
If you're looking to have video with cue points, you'll have
to encode it (likely in FLV format). There's a interesting post
about this on
The Flash Blog. Flash and
any of the Adobe production software will come with the
Adobe
Media Encoder, which will help you with this conversion.

My client wants me to create a course that has and a fixed width but can be scrolled vertically. Does anyone know how to do this in Captivate?

Learning Progress-Elearning courses

Hi Folks,
We have imported scorm courses in Authoring tool and able to play in the portal but i have got a small query here, once i start the course and after doing the follow up in the back end system the completion status shows - the course was passed successfully.
When i have checked the hrpad614 table i have all the pass and followed up information but i would like to know how the tabel-LSOTACLRNRESULT is related to elearning ,we use TPARTDOC number to get the out put of this table.
For some courses designed in Authoring toll i am getting the information related to lsotacclrresult table.
Please provide your ideas .
