Create Apple ID for children
Hello,
After many tests it is impossible for me to create an Apple account for my 10 year old son.
I get systematically the following message:
"You currently have a registered credit card. To create an account for a child, you must confirm that you are an adult by adding a credit card to your iTunes account."
My iTunes account is active since the release of the first iPhone, and well connected to a visa card, so credit card.
I disabled family sharing, deleted my card re sharing, reassigned my card, the problem remains the same.
If someone in the solution, thank you in advance.
Julien.

How to create apple id for child under 13?
Hi ,
I want to create apple ID for child under 13. Unfortunately, I was unable to create because i did not have a valid credit card as I am using debt card. Is there any options how to overcome this issue? Please suggestHi abudicha,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are setting up Family Sharing and creating an Apple ID for your child.
In this case, it is necessary to use a credit card when creating the Apple ID, although the payment method can be changed to debit card once the Apple ID is created.
To comply with child online privacy protection laws, you will use the CVV or security code from a valid credit card as part of providing your parental consent. If the card on file is a debit card or another payment method, you’ll be asked to provide a credit card before you can continue. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method back to a debit card.

Cannot set child's birth date while creating Apple ID for iOS 8 family sharing
Just upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 8 and am in the process of setting up Family Sharing. I want to create an Apple ID for my 13-year old. For some reason iOS doesn't let me enter the birthday properly. It keeps rolling back to 18 September 2001 (exactly 13 years ago today). My kid's birthday is several months earlier.
iOS does let me choose any later date, e.g. in November 2001 or 2011. But as soon as I choose a date earlier than 18 September 2001, iOS rolls back to 18 Sep 2001.
Since children under 13 are not eligible, it seems that only children that are EXACTLY 13 years old today (happy birthday!) can get an Apple ID.
Must be a bug, right? If they are 13 they would obtain a normal Apple ID (13 is the age cutoff historically for an Apple ID). They should create one normally and then you can associate it with your account. I don't know if purchase control will work with that.

Cannot Create Apple ID for Child in iOS8
I'm on the Apple Support page titled: Family Sharing and Apple IDs for kids
It gives step-by-step instructions for setting up an Apple ID for a child under 13 years old - this is a new feature of iOS8 and its Family Sharing feature.
Step 4 is to enter my credit card security code, however when I actually go through the process, after step 3 I am told "A credit card is required" and that I must got to iTunes & App Store Settings to add a valid credit card to my account. Having done that (more than once!) I still get the same message. I'm stuck in an infinite loop! The instructions are not matching the actual process.
Has as anybody else encountered this problem? Any known fixes? Do I have to wait for 8.0.1? I have to say, with my younger children using iPads at school, I was very much looking forward to this feature!
Thanks in advance -JohnSomeone else suggested that the issue is cause by trying to use a debit card and, at least for now, can be solved by adding a credit card instead: Creating a Child Account Error - Solved.

Using the new apple ID for children on iPhone 4 (iOS7)
So, I got a new iPhone 6 and made an apple ID for my child who is under 13. Then I tried to use this apple ID on my old iPhone4 wich I reseted. This did not work. Iphone4 does not have iOS8, could this be the problem? Any ideas?
Thanks!I know how to create a child account - that has been done. As far as I can tell, your link only explain how to do this.
My question was regarding how do you use this new apple ID when setting up a new iphone which does not have iOS8. Unfortunately I am not able to find any help on this matter. But I am very happy to be wrong here - so if the answer is in fact stated in your first link, please point it out more clear!
Thanks! -
Can anyone help. I have just upgraded the kids ipads to iOS 7..and imessages have stopped working.
So I google search and find that I now have to have apple ID's for both kids.
I goto My Apple ID and try creating an account for my son born 2004.
I get the error message back saying "You are not eligible to create an account at this time." - He's too young.
But also - I had previously got their email addresses associated with my account.
Trying to use this for an Apple ID gives "
This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."
I now wish I hadn't upgraded. So - an update..Last night I spent 90 minutes on the phone to Apple support guys in the Philippines.
My kids never had formal apple ID's under iOS 6, but because they had previously used their email addresses for imessage and facetime - Apple recognised the email addresses as being used.
We tried setting up iTunes accounts without a credit card..
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
but it didn't work - saying the the accounts were already in use. And - there was no option to select "None" as the payment type.
We then registered them on https://appleid.apple.com
We had to use my DoB to get round the age restriction of 13 years old.
I think the apple guys did some checking and re-setting in the background too.
Then on the iPads - in settings - set iTunes and App store to be my account and password.
But in imessage and facetime - set their email addresses (apple ID's) and passwords.
So now under iOS 7 - the kids have apple ID's (their email addresses) but DO NOT have an iTunes account.
Odd - but it works..imessages work, face time works, they don't get copies of my imessages and they can't go large with my credit card.
Hope this helps anyone with the same issue. -

Problems creating Apple id for a child
with the new family sharing I'm trying to set up an id for my child however it keeps asking for credit card info even though there is already one setup for the account
if you want to create and apple id for your child without giving out any credit card info so he it is.
Try creating the aaple id directly from the app store.
App store> Top Chart> Free> click on any free app and the it will ask you to create an Apple ID.
In this process it will show u a "None" option in the payment info along with Visa and MasterCard.
Click none and continue.. -
I'm trying to create a new apple account for my daughter's school ipad. She put in her bday incorrectly and said "does not meet age requirements". We went back and put in her correct date (over 13) and still says "does not meet age requirement". How do I fix this??
The old rule of thumb was to keep 10-12 GB free. Any lower than that and you will start to have trouble. I was very close to that for a long time and never had any complaints. Now, Lion "encourages" 20% free space (on my newer 250 GB drive) so I try to keep it with more than 50 GB free.
Do you still have the original memory in that machine too? The metal plate you have to remove in the battery compartment also provides access to the RAM. Your machine will take 2 GB of RAM, possibly 3. You definitely want to max that out too.
Regardless, you definitely need a new hard drive. When Apple switched to PC components, they had to take a quality hit. These 2.5" notebook hard drives are not very reliable. I'm surprised your hard drive hasn't died by now. I usually get a new hard drive with every major OS upgrade. A $ 50 investment every couple of years is no big deal.
Unfortunately, you (and I) suffer from being an early adopter in 2006. Those 32-bit machines only accept 2 GB RAM (maybe 3) and are only 32-bit so they can't be upgraded to Lion. Because of this limitation, you won't see as dramatic an improvement as you would with a 2007 machine. If you run more than a couple of applications, your hard drive is always going to have to be doing some VM work. My 2006 machine has even lost its bluetooth. I gave it to my brother. My very similar 2007 Macbook is still running great.
So, you must get a new hard drive because your old one is likely on death's door. If you don't have at least 2 GB - get it. If you can't afford a new machine, you might want to consider an SSD. That might help mitigate your RAM limitations. You can spend from $ 100 to $ 350 and get a dramatic speed improvement. -
Can't create apple id for child
I am trying to create an apple id for my 7 year old son and follow all the prompts but once I come to verifying my payment method it does not advance and ask for the security code from the card. Then when I go to the app store or iTunes and enter the security code and then go back to creating the id it still asks me to verify.
According to Apple a person must be 13 before they will be issued an Apple ID. Perhaps that's the issue?

i need to create an ID for each of my daughters it says DO NOT MEET MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT very frustrated
If u haven't resolved this issue yet, I just did.
What I did:
1. Toggle the hold switch (turn it on and off)
2. Reset to 'Disk Mode'
by pressing the 'Play' and center buttons
simultaneously
(it may take a couple of trials to get it right)
3. Update iPod with latest iTunes in Disk mode.
4. Incase the 'Can't find firmware' error msg is displayed,
follow the instructions in the link given below:
