Create Asm first or Db first?

Hi guru ,
I finish off create my 10gr2 db at my vmware@centos , i start to do some R&D on ASM on it , i manage to create it using raw-device , i wonder how to i link the existing 10g to this ASM instance ?
Based on some of the article on OTN , internet i found out that most of the article is create ASM instance then follow by DB instance ?
So is it i must create another db instance for this ??

i do try to query rman user at dba_users but there is no such user exists ?? any idea on that ? by default there is no rman user in oracle,u have to create it if u want to manage oracle database with recovery catalog.
but in ur case u don't need to create it .
just connect rman with sys user.
Rman is a utility.
like
Oracle>>rman target=/
Recovery Manager: Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
RMAN-06005: connected to target database: TEST (DBID=1784089182)
RMAN>
Thanks

  • Hi, I use two email addresses within one account with gmx.  I created one account with the first email address now. How do I add the second one to this account? Now it looks like this. One account was opened with address A. I receive in this account email

Hi, I use two email addresses within one account with gmx.
I created one account with the first email address now. How do I add the second one to this account?
    Now it looks like this.
One account was opened with address A.
I receive in this account emails for address A and B.
But I can only write and answer with address A.

    Hi Rudegar,
    Sorry for my late reply.
It s not the amount of accounts I'm struggling with.
When I create now for both email addresses one account, then I receive the same emails two times.
That is not what I want.
Because on gmx the two email addresses have the same inbox and outbox.
E.g. I can login to my gmx account either with email A or B. It doesn't matter.
Now I want to have the same on my ipad.
One account with both email addresses.

  • Error occured while creating site collection for the first time in SP2013

While creating a new site collection in SharePoint 2013, I need to do atleast 4 times " Go back to Site" begore it appears properly. Could you please let me know why this error is occuering while we create site collection for the first time.
Is it aknown issue or due to RAM contraints.I am using 16 GB of RAM in Web tier.

You can get by with 16 GB of RAM so I am guessing that is not the cause.  Although, you could verify your memory utilization during the process.  As long as you don't exceed 95% you should be fine.  Next time, I would instead look up the
error in the ULS logs using the correlation id and see if you can get more details of what is causing the error.

  • Creating ASM disk group

    Hi,
I have a 2-node RAC. I want to add a new diskgroup, to ASM.
At the first node, I run the CREATE DISKGROUP command. I though the disk group would appear at second node's ASM and I would only have to mount. But on the second node EM, the disk group does not appear in V$ASM_DISK and the ALTER DISKGROUP MOUNT command returns ORA-15063.
Do I have to create the disk at the second node too?
    Edited by: user492400 on Mar 30, 2010 12:40 PM

how you created disks on node #1?
did you use oracleasm createdisk command?
run sudo /etc/init.d/oracleasm scandisk on node#1 then same command on node#2
then run /etc/init.d/oracleasm listdisks on both nodes and compare result.
if you see all disks correctly on both nodes, then connect to ASM on node#2 and run
    ALTER DISKGROUP ALL MOUNT;
    new diskgroup should be mounted.

  • Please Help to Get ASM Library Files to Create ASM Disks

    Folks,
Hello. My Operating System is Oracle Linux 5.6. I need to install ASMLib software to create ASM disks.
We can download ASMLib from OTN whose URL is: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linux/index-101839.html
I don't have a CSI and cannot download ASMLib from the above URL. Thus, I download ASMLib from this URL:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/asmlib/files/latest/download
The file name from Sourceforge is asmlib-0.9.59.tar.gz. After tar zxf asmlib-0.9.59.tar.gz, I cannot find the 3 files needed for my Oracle Linux 5.6. These 3 files are :
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5debug-2.0.5-1.el5.rpm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.rpm
    oracleasm-support-2.1.4-1.el5.rpm
Can any folk help to get the above 3 files needed for my Oracle Linux 5.6 ?
Can any folk provide a website to download the right version of ASMLib including the 3 files for Oracle Linux 5.6 ?
    Thanks.

    Folk,
    Hello. Thanks for help.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/rhel5-084877.html
I download the following 5 files from the link above:
    AMD64 / Intel em64t Architecture
    Drivers for kernel 2.6.18-238.el5:
    oracleasm-support-2.1.7-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5xen-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5debug-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5-debuginfo-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
My VM's OS is Oracle Linux 5.6 that is assumed to be the same with Red Hat Linux Server 5.
I have installed the 2 files (below) successfully using the command: [root@rac1 \ ]# rpm -Uvh
    oracleasm-2.6.18-238.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-support-2.1.7-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
When installed the other 3 files, it cannot install and return the same error message: "2.6.18-238.el5 is needed."
After installed the above 2 files, I run the command: [root@rac1 dev]# oracleasm configure -i
But it returns the meesage:" Command not found." Thus, I cannot initialize oracleasm program.
    My questions are:
First, why the command " oracleasm configure -i " is still not found ? How to solve the issue ?
Second, are the other 3 files really needed to be installed ?
    Thanks.

  • How i can create ASM.....

I want to create ASM instance. Right now i have test server. In that server having 1 disk and 2 drives like C and D.Already one database is running.Again i want to create ASM instance. Is there any way to do it..

    Thanks for your support...
    I did upto following steps
    C:\>mkdir asmdisks
    C:\>cd asmdisks
    C:\asmdisks>asmtool -create c:\asmdisks\disk1 1024
    C:\asmdisks>asmtool -create c:\asmdisks\disk2 1024
    C:\asmdisks>asmtool -create c:\asmdisks\disk3 1024
Now you have 3 disks(dummy) of 1 GB each which can be used to create a ASM disk group.
    2) Create ASM instance
    a) Configure Cluster Synchronization Servie
Before you can create an ASM instance on 10g Release 2, though, you must first run a script which instantiates the Oracle Cluster Registry and its associated processes & services. That's done by issuing the command:
    C:\>c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\BIN\localconfig reset
Step 1: stopping local CSS stack
    Step 2: deleting OCR repository
Step 3: creating new OCR repository
    Successfully accumulated necessary OCR keys.
Creating OCR keys for user 'ap\arogyaa', privgrp ''..
    Operation successful.
Step 4: creating new CSS service
    successfully created local CSS service
successfully reset location of CSS setup
    b) Create Init pfile
Open notepad edit the following parameters and save file as "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\database\init+ASM.ora"
    INSTANCE_TYPE=ASM
    DB_UNIQUE_NAME=+ASM
    LARGE_POOL_SIZE=8M
    ASM_DISKSTRING='c:\asmdisks\*'
    ASMALLOW_ONLY_RAW_DISKS=FALSE
    c) Create service and password file
oradim will create an ASM instance and start it automatically.
    c:\> orapwd file=C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\database\PWD+ASM.ora password=asm
c:\> oradim -NEW -ASMSID +ASM -STARTMODE auto
but when i am creating diskgroup not properly working...
    give me some feedback..
    thanks in advance

Yes you are right , I have to make to sure stock budget doesn't get credited.
If you remember in one of my other threads, i wanted to derive commitment item from Matl grp, it was for this purpose. I will derive commitment through matl group at the time of procurement / GR etc and assign a dummy commitment item to stock a/cs. Where as i will derive a consumption commiment item from consumption GLs.

I runned the installer but get stack at the 3 step where I have to change the discovery path. I have taped as path /dev where I have created 3 partitions sdb1, sdc1 and sdd1.
Is there any thing should I perform on partitions may be or parameters to set before I go through the installation?

You can use the below link to install ASMLIB:
    http://gssdba.wordpress.com/category/asm/
    REFERANCE : Doc ID 580153.1
There are two different methods to configure ASM on Linux:
ASM with ASMLib I/O: This method creates all Oracle database files on raw block devices managed by ASM using ASMLib calls. RAW devices are not required with this method as ASMLib works with block devices.
ASM with Standard Linux I/O: This method creates all Oracle database files on raw character devices managed by ASM using standard Linux I/O system calls. You will be required to create RAW devices for all disk partitions used by ASM.

  • Bom Explosion first level, if first level having phanthom it has to explode

    Dear All,
Kindly tell any function module is available for BOM explosion first level.
if first level having any sub assembly part, bom not to explode below level.
if first level having any phanthom material, it has to explode below level, in this phanthom material having any below phanthom material part of bom, it also explode below level.
it means only phanthom material has explode below level, no sub assembly part.
If any functional module is available for this bom explosion.
i tried functional module - CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2, but if i put "X" in field  - MEHRS, sub assembly part also exploding below level.
    kindly help on this.
    Regards,
    sakthi

    Hi,
i tried functional module - CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2, but if i put "X" in field - MEHRS, sub assembly part also exploding below level.
Ans: Do not set this MEHRS indicator. This will explode the BOM to first level.
Then add another loop on first level materials to check if any of them is phantom and explode the phantoms using same FM module in a loop. Follow this until all are done.

  • Create ASM Disk Groups cannot see Disk Path to select during installation

    Hello Guys,
I am setting up 2 node RAC on 11gR2 and Linux.
I have configured all the pre-installation steps that are required to run Grid Setup as per my understanding.
I have configure SAN partitions using multipath.
I can see my SAN volume when i query multipath -l
Then i configured the raw partitions by oracleasm. Configured and then created mount points:
    /dev/oracleasm/disks/
    CRSVOL1 DATAVOL1 FRAVOL1
Later on I created the disks using oracle asm command:
    /usr/sbin/oracleasm createdisk CRSVOL1 /dev/mapper/racdbp1 and so on...
    I have run /usr/sbin/oracleasm scandisks
    Cleaning any stale ASM disks...
    Scanning system for ASM disks...
And when i list disk with command /usr/sbin/oracleasm listdisks
it shows the disk like this on both nodes:
    CRSVOL1
    DATAVOL1
    FRAVOL1
BUT during the installation screen when it comes to create ASM Disk Groups It shows nothing in the add disk frame, I cant select the volumes I can list, like i did above.
    Any hint please?
    Thanks, Imran

Thanks but my problem is very specific. I feel that i have performed all the necessary steps to get complete the step i discussed above. As per different commands all is set. Hi,
is that specified disks (disk 1 to 4) are available in the path 'F:\asmdisks\ ' ???
If ' yes' then what kind of DISK is that ?
And add space between DISK1 F:\asmdisks\ (F:\asmdisks\ DISK) and try.
    Thanks,
    Ranjith
