"Create Booklet" tips?

I've recently upgraded to Snow Leapord so am about to make my first booklet using "create" instead of "coco".  I've been searching online for any tips to make this easy.  I'm assuming that I make the pages of my soon to be pdf half a page sized as I did in "coco".  If any of you have used "create" and have margin, layout, or printing tips I'd LOVE to hear them before I get started!!!!!
Thanks!

If you've read any of my posts about making booklets, you'll know that I don't care for Create Booklet, but I did just reinstall it to see if I could offer any advice. I don't see any way of changing margins in Create Booklet, or any settings in Create Booklet at all.
I made a booklet of the PDF of one of my current Pages worship booklets. I learned quite awhile ago to use US Legal size for my Pages documents as the proportion to half-letter size is better than US Letter to half-letter. This is what I use in CocoaBooklet so I wanted to see the difference.
Other than being a bit "crowded" it isn't too bad. I would increase the margins in Pages & give it a try. Only you can decide what works best for you. Given that this is all digital & you're not wasting paper, you can experiment until you like the results.

Each Address Line should have one Tip.
    What should I do ?

    Hi John,
It seems you have created Address Location DFF in self service in OA Framework.....
I have created a Address Location flex in OA Framework . It dipslays the segments properly but i dont want to display the segments if they dont have any value.
I only want to display segments with values . The segments with null values should not display at all...
i.e , if Address Line 2 value is null , it should not display Address Line 2..
If you have done this, pls let me know how to go abt it.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • I Am Begging for URGENT ASSISTANCE Using Create Booklet Service for Pages

I work for a Church; I prepare numerous bulletins weekly and while I am tickled to learn of Create Booklet Service, I need to know why in the "tutorial" of Create Booklet Service it says that when I am in the PRINT menu, and click on PDF at the bottom, I will have the option to click on "create booklet"  ??? NOT ON MY SCREEN?   I also have a problem with how tiny the print turns out when I was experimenting with this program, no matter how I changed the font size, OR INCREASED the size (on the navigation on the right of the screen)  It still prints very tiny which will not work for many of our "mature members"   HELP on this please!
May I please impose on 2 other small questions that are driving me nuts (I am converting from a lifelong PC user to Mac--which I adore)  HOW DO I BACK UP to the last "motion or keystroke I made?"  on the PC up on the top left is a circle with an arrow which will take me back "one task, if you will"  I cannot figure out how to do this on the mac
    ALSO
when I am working in Pages and I am adjusting text that I am typing ; on the PC, if I want to "bring a sentence that is divided between to lines" up together to join them; I could simply hit DELETE and the spaces would continue deleting until my broken sentence was joined onto one line?  This does not happen on the MAC  the DELETE Key simply deletes back.
    ONE MORE QUESTION:
Why when I am copying and pasting a document from the PC to the MAC  (trying to convert all my weekly projects from the PC to the MAC)  the clip art, photos etc do not copy with the text?  Very frustrating in the conversion process.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to anyone and everyone that can or chooses to assist me.  I have spent countless hours and weeks just to finally discover Create Booklet Service TODAY!
    Blessings

I thank you for your time and information; NO!  I did not know that Create Booklet produces the booklet 1/2 the size of my pages document; so that was very helpful information.  I have tried probably 2 dozen times to print this pages doc into a booklet for our Church bulletin and NOTHING works!  I am so beside myself because time is minimal here; so many disruptions from phones ringing to people coming in.  I stayed late many nights and come in early and I still cannot figure this out; I am not a computer genius but I am not stupid either!  When I have my document prepared in Pages, do I then go to Page Set UP? or straight to Print?
I want to print a 2 sided document that has 12 pages (3 --2 sided legal sheets of paper in readable format)  do I choose: legal small? legal ? A4? do I manipulate the % it shows that will print?
do I change the icon that reads portrait, to landscape?
I wish someone could tell me step by step what to do in print set up and print to have this print out so its equal to a 11pt font in Georgia font and the headings I use are bold and 12 pt.  (or at least that is how I have been doing it in the PC for several years)  I thank you for the reference on the book; time is just not on my side right now to find the book, and read it.  It might sound like the lazy way? That is not my intention; I just need efficiency  LOL!  IF someone could only sit here with me and show me exactly how to set this up to print a legal size (8..5 x 14") 2 sided bulletin that I then fold and put into a cover...I would be thrilled beyond words!  Peace my friend from Sweden!  Many hugs

You can if you have installed the Create Booklet Service in a service folder you can either first Export the Pages document to PDF or you print to PDF directly and choose Create Booklet.
When you create the document have have already chosen which paper size to use. I use A4 but my guess is that you are american and uses legal. i don't think you should manipulate the %.
You don't have to bother your brain with landscape or portrait format. That will the application do.
If you find that the text is too small for your readers create a document with lets say font in 14 or 16 points.

  • Using PCF to create booklets with pages

Before I updated to Lion I could used the create booklet software to print out booklets for church.  After installing Lion I am being told this application is not universal and I need an update.  None appears to be available.  Any ideas?

Rosetta -- the software which allows older PPC software to run on Intel Macs -- is not supported on Lion. So, you have two options -- either get updated software which runs on Intel Macs ("universal" means it contains both PPC and Intel code), or somehow continue to run SL. For the latter, you could downgrade back to SL, run it as an alternate boot option, or in a VM within Lion. IMHO, the practical options are to go back to SL, or get Intel software.
You could look for booklet software in the usual places (Macupdate, Softpedia, etc), or just google it; or you could look for DTP apps which do this task (imposition).
Scribus is a free, open-source DTP app, which means the price is right, but the learning curve is steep and support and features patchy. Here's one way of creating a booklet with Scribus

Swift Publisher is a (relatively) inexpensive DTP app from BeLight. Here's what they say about creating a booklet with SP

  • Help Creating Booklet PDF in InDesign CS4 on Mac OS X

I need to print a 64-page document as a "booklet," and would like to create a pdf document so I can print it off of another computer in my office.  I have printed the booklet successfully from my computer, so I know that my settings for the booklet are correct, but I can't seem to figure out how to print the document the same way as a pdf.  It doesn't work to go to Print Booklet > Print Settings > Printer > PDF > Save as PDF, and when I try to print as a PostScript File it "works," but the final pdf only contains all of the EVEN pages, not any of the ODD pages.  Very strange.  The "Preview" even contains ALL of the pages and looks perfectly accurate before I save the PostScript File.
What am I doing wrong?  It seems like the PostScript File option is what everyone is recommending in other forum posts on making booklet pdf's, but it's not working for me.

Not being very familiar with the Mac OS this is a complete shot in the dark but have you made sure that the PPD when you print to a postcript file is set to using the Adobe PDF PPD?

  • Creating booklet: Should image files from illustrator be in PDF format??

    Good morning,
Over the weekend i got thinking about a image booklet i am looking to create. Despite being a newbie, i feel as though i have made great strides in becoming familiar with both Indesign and Illustrator.
Having created artwork in Illustrator i am trying to determine the best format for placing my images into Indesign.
What i have been expecting to do is to convert the Illustrator files into pdf's and then placing these into my Indesign template. This is what i have been doing on my drafts. Seems there is no quality loss, however i am worried about the size of the file since it is predominatley image based.
I have no need to edit the link once i have finished the artwork in Illustrator IMHO.
Please bear in mind this is booklet is being sent to a commercial printers and being printed on a litho.
Could any of the wise sages on these forums guide me?
    Kind Regards,
    Don

    Hi Don
There really shouldn't be any need to convert your Illustrator files to PDF - the .ai format is (unless you specifically deselect the option on save) a PDF compatible file.

  • Creating booklet w/center stapled fold

I am looking to create a booklet on legal size paper (landscape orientation) that will be multiple pages stapled in the center and folded in half. How do I format this project such that in the end I can export it to PDF and send it to a printer and print it, staple and fold it and have a booklet. Is this possible? I am looking to get away from an unnecessary depedancy on Publisher
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Welcome to Discussions.
There sure is a way. Use Pages in Legal size (vertical) to layout your booklet. Then use CocoaBooklet to create the booklet as you described. Get it here <http://www.iconus.ch/fabien/cocoabooklet/>
It's really neat and will assemble your completed booklet properly. (The legal size sheet reduces to the proportions of one page in legal size horizontal with two pages per sheet.)

  • Creating booklets in CS4 (not printing)

You could make a booklet out of CS2 through the "Print booklet" feature. It would create a second file that was booked correctly so you could proof any of the background graphics.
How can I do this in CS4???

Print Booklet was introduced with CS3 and remains unchanged in CS4. CS2 used a plugin called InBooklet SE which is no longer available because the vendor was purchased by Quark.
The major difference is that InBooklet allowed you to impose and create a new file, but it was very buggy and often caused problems. Print Booklet only allows you to impose and print, so if you want a screen proof you must print to PDF and open that.
An alternative is to use one of the imposition scripts that are available, but the one I use is not capable of dealing with cross-spine elements, and I suspect from your post that you have background images that span the spreads.

  • New to inDesign - looking for help with creating booklets

Looking for a tutorial/answer on how to set up my book so that the pages can be printed, folded in half (like a brochure/magazine) so that I can bind the pages myself in a book.   Not sure if my page size would be what I want the finished book size to be or if I need to double the page width setup size, because I will be folding them in half to put the book together.  I know there must be a magic button as well that will sort the pages and keep them in the right order, once I fold them.   Does this make sense to anyone?

  • How can I create a booklet with Word 2011?

I've tried using Cocoabooklet and Create Booklet. I've also tried on both Word 2011 and Pages (I only have the trial). While Create Booklet works, I'd like to be able to make the pages actual size on word (I tried making the page 5.5x8.5 then setting it up and loading it into Create Booklet but that didn't work), and not have to double my font, etc. in order to have the correct sizes after the program imposes them.

One basic idea that I have used (in any Word processor) is to turn the standard 8+1/2 by 11 paper sideways and set up a two column layout. Each column is 8+1/2 by 5+1/2. Insert column break to move to the next mini-page.
To use this approach without a booklet-maker program, you need to make a dummy booklet and set up the page numbers yourself, which works fine unless your booklet changes frequently. Printers call this "Printers proofs" ( pre laid out pages).
I have tried to use a booklet program like ClickBook in the past, but I had to work WAY too hard to accomodate the software, when it was easier to just lay it out (including fronts and backs of each sheet) myself.

  • Print Booklet fails to create PDF

    Greetings all,
I've encountered a frustrating glitch in Print Booklet that doesn't seem to be mentioned in these forums or elsewhere on the web.
I regularly use Print Booklet to create imposed PDF files with the following workflow:
    Click File > Print Booklet...
    Click Print Settings...
    Select Adobe PDF 9.0 Printer
    Click Printer...
Check PDF settings, change as required
    Click Print
    Enter file name details
    Click Save
Click OK in print settings dialogue box
Click Print in Print Booklet dialogue box
Wait for PDF to be created.
Most of the time this works fine but all of a sudden the PDF file has failed to be created. No error messages appear - nothing happens at all. The usual PDF progress bars appear in InDesign as it processes each page, but then nothing.
I've had this happen in another similar document but thought it was a corruption in the particular InDesign file and have just ignored it up until now.
The current document is a 24 page colour catalogue and contains many hi rez images. I wonder if the size of the document has exceeded some kind of memory requirement somewhere?
I've been able to use Print Booklet to create a PDF of the first 20 pages, or the last 20, but not the entire document.
The only difference in the document since it last worked correctly is that a few more images have been added and some more text, but no extra pages.
I'm using InDesign CS3 and Acrobat 9 Pro on a MacBook Pro with 4Gb RAM running Mac OS X 10.5.
    Any suggestions much appreciated!
