Create Characteristics for CO-PA

Hi Experts,
I am facing another problem while creating the Characteristics BZIRK (Sales District) with reference to table VBKD. Currently this characteristic BZIRK is available in the system but this is created with reference to table KNVV. While creating characteristics BZIRK again with reference to table VBKD, I am receiving message saying Field BZIRK is already defined as Characteristics, chose another name. Then I tried to delete this characteristics BZIRK but I am receiving the message saying Field BZIRK does not have set system type CUS. I then further continued but now the system is giving error saying Field BZIRK is a technical/fixed field -> Choose another name.
Please suggest:
1) How to create new characteristics BZIRK again with reference to table VBKD? We want to use characteristics BZIRK created with reference to table VBKD in our operating concern instead of characteristics BZIRK created with reference to table KNVV.
Also we want to create characteristics VKBUR and VKGRP with reference to table VBAK to include in our operating concern. Currently these characteristics are available in the system but are created with reference to table KNVV.

Characteristics for Cost Center

Dears,
Can someone help what are the settings to be done (what should be maintained in all tabs of characteristics) when creating characteristics for Cost Center that will be used in PR Release Strategy:
Structure: CEBAN
Field: KOSTL
Anything else? Do we need to put all cost centers here or can we put in release strategy.

Basic data- enter the below
Description, status-Released, Data type- Char, you can give Number of chars - 10, in the value assignment- tick- multiple values.
Go straight to Additional Data - tab
Additional Data - tab
Enter - Structure - CEBAN, Field name- KOSTL
Restrictions- Tab
Enter - 032 and save
Now Re_enter in change mode for the same char and go to Values tab
Enter Cost center names one below another for all which you wish to have control in calssification in rel stg.
Only if you maintain here, and later you assign the charactristcis to Class, then only which creating REL stg. you will get the Char Values in the classification. Otherwise not.

Creating subtype for Infotype.

Hi ,
I have created a customInfotype following the steps below:
1) Go to Transaction PM01.
2) Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create (Should be a 4 digit number, start with 9).
3) Select the 'Employee Infotype' radio button.
4) Select the 'PS Structure Infotype'.
5) Click on Create... A separate table maintenance window appears...
6) Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the Infotype
7) Save and Activate the PS structure
8) Go back to the initial screen of PM01.
9) Click on 'All' push button. It takes a few moments.
10) Click on 'Technical Characteristics'. Infotype list screen appears
11) Click on 'Change'(pencil) button
12) Select your Infotype and click on 'Detail' (magnifying glass) button
13) Give 'T591A' as subtype table
14) Give 'T591S' as subtype txt tab
15) Give your subtype field as subtype field
16) Save and come back to PM01 initial screen
17) Click on 'Infotype Characteristics' ... Infotype list screen appears
18) Click on 'Change' (pencil) button
19) Click on 'New Entries'
20) Enter your Infotype number and short text
21) Here we have to set different Infotype Characteristics as per the requirement. (Better open another session with some standard Infotype's infotype characteristics screen and use as the reference to fill yours)
22) Save your entries.
23) Now the Infotype is created and ready to use.
24) If you want to change the layout of the Infotype as per your requirement...
25) In the PM01 initial screen...Select 'Screen' radio button and give 2000 as the screen name, then click on edit.
26) In the next screen.. Select 'Layout Editor' and click 'Change'.
27) Screen default layout appears...here you can design/modify the screen..change the attributes of the fields..etc.
28) Save and activate. (Don't forget to 'Activate at every level)
In thread Infotype the following method is given to create subtype for Infotype.
<b>Subtype Creation :</b>
Transaction PM01 Goto Subtype Characteristics. Click on Append and then subtype. Enter the name and description of subtype on screen.
Then goto technical Characteristics and maintain the details of subtype there. I.e name of subtype i.e. component name defined in PSnnnn. Subtype table is T591A.
Subty.text tab is T591S and time const tab is T591A.
But I am having no option to create subtype from PM01.
Please guide on this.

Hi,
What you are trying to do is to modify a Standard ( delivered by SAP ) object. This would obviously not be allowed all that easily. You will have to contact SAP and obtain what is known as an access key. You would then be able to modify the object. This stipulation makes it explicit that SAP is not responsible for any problems that you may encounter by changing the standard functionality.
There is, however, an exception to this. We have something called user-exits in sAP. These are the places in the code where SAP has given the customer an option to include some custom functionality within the standard functionality. That is because SAP thinks that these are the points where customer-specific functionality is most likely.
Hope you can now see the point. If you want to modify PM01, you have to either search if an appropriate user-exit is available, or you have to contact SAP to obtain the access key.

How to create offset for calendar year/month in BEx Reporting

HI ALL,
    i have a requirement of creating offset for calendar year/month.Basically i have a characteristic in Rows and volume key figure in Column and i have to put that volume under the calender year /month which is shown below ..
                         Previous Volume           Present Volume

how can i create a report for this . by using volume key figure i am creating previous volume and present volume,. how can i put them in key figure do i have to create any structure, selections for that.... and "" how can i get the present year volume and previous year volume. If i use cal year/month how can i create offset for that.....

I think you need data year wise .
Instead of creating a variable for calmonth and using it in the RKF , you can just drag calyear in columns and keep the Volume keyfigure below it . Keep only one keyfigure Volume and do not restrict it with calmonth or any other variable .
In this case calyear should not be present in rows or free characteristics .
You would be able to see the data year wise ..
Try this and check whether it is according to your requirement
If You need to show the data as Volume (01.2011) and Volume(01.2010)
It means you are only showing data for Jan 2011 and Jan 2010 in the report
In this case you can retrict Volume keyfigure with a variable and create a customer exit variable
for 0calmonth as an offset of -1 will bring the data of 12.2010 for Previous Volume(01.2010) key figure which is incorrect .
For your output you can create 2 customer exit variables :
One will restrict 0calmonth to current year and another to previous year .
Check whether this works .
Also , if you want to show current calendar months data , you can either use a mandatory variable on 0calmonth
and restrict the same in volume keyfigure or there are std customer exit variable provided by SAP to give current cal month .
You can restrict the char 0calmonth with this std exit variable if you do not want 0calmonth variable to be mandatory.

Help!Create Aggregates For Cube 0C_C03 Ocurs Eror

When I create a aggregate for cube 0ic_c03, and fixed value to characteristic '0PLANT', Error occurs as following: ,how can I do?

InfoCube 0IC_C03 contains key figures that display non-cumulative values. The non-cumulative values, however, can only be correctly calculated, if the aggregate contains all characteristic values of the reference characteristics (the characteristics for the time slice).
System response
The aggregation level was set to 'not aggregated' for the reference characteristics.

Hi Shangfu,
Info cube 0IC_C03 consists of non-cumulative key figures which means breifly the values are aggregated in run-time based on Time characteristics.
Include time characteristics "0CALDAY" as part of the aggregate in addition to "0PLANT" object to avoid this problem.
There are many OSS Notes explaining the purpose and usage of Non-cumulative key figures.

Create Characteristics, Data Type - Currency

Hi All,
I am trying to create characteristics in transaction CT04 for our PO release strategy.
Data type is Currency. After giving all required details when I press enter the value range becomes NNNNNNNNNNNNN.NN. So I am unable to select value in release strategy classification tab.
Does anybody have any idea that why values are getting converted to NNNNNNNNNNNNN.NN.
Is any configuration missing?
Is the problem with template?

Template I ahve not selected anything but defaults it is taking NNNNNNNNNNNNN.NN
Even If I delete this when I press enter It is taking NNNNNNNNNNNNN.NN

After giving this value when I press enter all values becomes

So I could not select any value in RElease strategy --> Classification tab

Create characteristics t code CT04

Dear,
In t code CTO4 when I m creating characteristics , under value assignment there are two radio selection
1 Single-value
2 Multiple value
what is the significance of it. ??? which one I need to select , so that I can use this characteristics to my measuring point or counter.
One more field is there template when I select my data type and char predefine template is automatically selected. & this template is applied to my respective measuring pt and doc.
and I m facing problem to enter reading in measurement doc.
e.g
I have a characteristics with unit NO , data type numeric and no of char 10
but in measurement doc I m able to enter only 4 digit value . to enter further digit I has to delete template.
why it is so ???

In CT04 the Single & Multiple values means.
For Example in characeteristics if you want to maintain only one reading for characteristics then select the Single value,If you want more than one value for the Characteristics then select Multiple values.
For Example say your characteristics is Speed.you are assign this characteristics to class Motor.
When you attach this class to Equipment say if only one value exist for Speed characteristics for all equipment then specify single value.or if more than one value then specify as Multiple alue.
for Motor A the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor B the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor C the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
In this case assign as Single value.
If for Motor A the Value of Speed characteristics is 1500 Rpm
for Motor B the Value of Speed characteristics is 1200 Rpm
for Motor C the Value of Speed characteristics is 1100 Rpm
In this case specify as Multiple value & Maintain in characteristic when you cretae the value in Equipment the 3 option will show to you.from that you can select.
For the 4 digit entry & template.
Check your User profile what template it has given.check with Basis Consultant & ask him to assign the proper user profile to user id.
In menu bar go to System -- User profile-- Own data & check the Default values tab.Check for the template there.

Few Suggestions:
If these two fields are the part of Transaction Data then you need to add them in Transfer Structure and Infoprovider.
If you want to use these objects as only Navigational Attributes then you need not add these fields to the Infoprovider, just make them as navigational attributes in the master data characteristics.

for that you just create one charecterstic of Info object (with the same technical charecterstics of R/3 field).. and maintain master data..
now create one data source in BW side.. and select your data source and replicate data with your generic datasource...
and load the data..

Creating Infoobjects for the existing Infoprovider

Hello,
Can someone give me the steps to follow while creating infoobjects. Example - while working on a query realized that addition of 2 more infoobjects would make a lot of sense. So how do i go about creating infoobjects for the already existing infoprovider. I mean do i need to make the initial changes in the ODS or Infocube? Its just a doubt so please any amount of explanation would be of great help.

I agree with Sreenath.
Few Suggestions:
If these two fields are the part of Transaction Data then you need to add them in Transfer Structure and Infoprovider.
If you want to use these objects as only Navigational Attributes then you need not add these fields to the Infoprovider, just make them as navigational attributes in the master data characteristics.

Unassigned characteristics for certain record

Hi Experts,
We had a reconicilliation issue in our production system.
On further analysis we found that there are certain records with un assigned characteristcs but key figures are populated, while loading data from one DSO to another DSO by delta mode.
Since the important characteristics like GL account, Cost Center, Cost element were not assigned to the target DSO for certain records there is a reconcilliation difference.
There is no logic written to clear the characteristics for certain record

Hi Sam,
We cannot display free chars dynamically based on Users. Instead you can try below:--
Make a copy of your Query and keep specific free chars which are suppose to be shown to set of users.
Create new role in PFCG and assign this new query to this role. Add those set of users in this role.
The users who wants all free chars can continue with already existing queries and roles.
