Create Closed Wi-Fi

Hello,
I currently create a small Wi-Fi network from my Mac, however, I need it to be a "closed network", like the option on AirPort WAPs. Is there a way to do this with Lion or a 3rd party utility that would allow me to do this?
Thanks!

Are you trying to create a computer-to-computer ("ad hoc") network? They have always been more limited than those created by a router. (For example, they cannot use WPA or WPA2 network protection and are limited to the easily-broken WEP, even on Mavericks.) It wouldn't surprise me to find out they cannot use 802.11AC, but I don't have the hardware to try it.

  • Creating Closed Caption in Premiere Pro Cs6

    Hello,
    I am trying to create Closed Caption from the scratch in Premiere Pro CS6. I watched couple of videos of internet.
    But I dont see "Caption" menu and when I create a "New Item", it doesn't show me "caption" option to create new caption.
    Where I can find Caption Menu to create new closed caption in Premiere Pro Cs6 ?
    Thanks!

    You have a few choices -- there are two commercial products that I have used and know about, to create sidecar closed captioning files that are usable in PPRO and follow industry standarads for CC: CPC (www.cpcweb.com) makes a authoring program called 'MacCaption' for MAC and 'Caption Maker' for WIN. Also, a German company (www.zeitanker.com) makes a program called 'Annotation Edit'.

  • Creating closed paths after using Live Trace.

    Hi, I am rather new in this, so forgive me if my question doesn't make any sense at all;
    When I trace raster images, Adobe Illustrator (CS3) gives me lots of anchor points along the outlines of the image. That's great for use with Live Paint & Live Color.
    Is there also a way to automaticly create closed paths/objects from this?
    Some kind of tool that seperates one color from another by closing those same paths.
    Basicly in a way where I can select one of the many colors within my traced picture, such as the green of a leaf, and have an actual closed path going around that same leaf. ..And then the sky would be a seperated object, and the pink flowers, and the yellow inside the flowers, and so on.
    Thanks, Linda

    If I understand your question correctly, you could probably accomplish it this way:
    1. Ungroup the trace.
    2. Select the "leaf" shape. If it consists of many shades of green, you'll have to use the Direct Selection tool, or perhaps the Lasso, or the Group Selection tool.
    3. Copy. This will stay in your clipboard, so don't copy anything else until
    4. Pathfinder>Add on the selected leaf shapes. Hold down Option to expand while adding.
    5. Now you have a solid shape that you can add a stroke to. If you make the stoke wide, or align it to the outside, it'll show around the leaf
    6. Paste in Front (Cmd-F). This will paste the original leaf shapes you copied, right on top of the solid shape you just made.

  • Create Closing Balance via SDK

    Hi All,
    Similar to the Opening Balance - oAccountsService.CreateOpenBalance(oOpenningBalanceAccount, oGLAccounts) -, the ability to create Closing Balances postings through SDK would be very useful.
    B1's closing period functionality is not flexible enough to allow the standard Portuguese closing period procedure.
    Regards,
    Vítor Vieira

    Hi Martin,
    It's not a legal requirement issue. It's a functionality issue.
    Portuguese Period Closing (or Year End) procedure is usually executed by steps. Each of these steps consists of a Template.
    An example:
    1st Step: Close Cost Accounts - there's a template stating all the Cost Account to close and to which is the Closing Account
        61xxx   to   81xxx
        62xxx   to   81xxx
    2nd Step: Close Profits Accounts - there's a template stating all the Profit Accounts to close and which Closing Account to use;
        71xxx   to   82xxx
        72xxx   to   82xxx
    (more steps)
    n-1th Step: Result postings
        81xxx  - 82xxx    to   84xxx
    n th Step: Year Closing
    84xxx + 85xxx + ...   to  89xxx
    If we have the ability to create Closing Balance via SDK, we can create these procedures ourselves.

  • Create closed caption within Premiere Pro

    Question: I'm using Premiere Pro 6 on a intel Xeon mac osx 10.8.3. I need to do captions for my project. I followed the Tutorial on "Create closed caption within Premiere Pro". When it comes to going to the window tab and selecting Captions.
    Problem: in my copy of Premiere Pro 6 there isn't  this option for selecting the captions buttton.  How can this be resolved ?

    That tutorial is talking about Premiere Pro CC, which doesn't come out until June 17th.  The current CS6 version cannot actually create Closed Captioned files.  You need to do that in a third party program for import into PP.

  • Creating Closed Captions that do NOT dissappear and finding an alternative

    Hi all!
    Does anybody know how to allow closed captions to continue displaying after the audio has ended on a slide in BOTH captivate 3 &/or 4? The text in the captions dissapear after the audio has completed.
    Also is there a way to modify/skin the caption box?
    The reason I'm asking is because of the way our projects are designed. We want the user to stay on the same slide until the forward button on the playbar has been clicked. This is easily done with having a "Pause project" click box on each slide.
    We used to have a text caption that's identical to the audio that stays on permanently on each slide but we want to move away from that.
    I have also tried to use buttons in captivate 4 to show/hide a text caption (with the name"bodyText"). I created 2 buttons to do this.
    The "Show Text" button has advanced actions to :-
    a) rdcmndPause = 1;
    b) Show the "bodyText" caption
    c) Show the "Hide Text" button
    d) Hide the "Show Text" button
    e) rdcmndPause = 1;
    The "Hide Text" button  does:-
    a) rdcmndPause = 1;
    b) Hide the "bodyText" caption
    c) Show the "Show Text" button
    d) Hide the "Hide Text" button
    e) rdcmndPause = 1;
    That works BUT clicking on the "Show Text" button plays the slide and ignores the following:-
    a) Multiple "Pause project" click box. These were placed before & after the button was paused on the timeline.
    b) _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;  swf's I've inserted. These were placed before & after the button was paused on the timeline as well.
    This is VERY annoying as the slide keeps playing and will eventually show the next slide. Which is NOT AT ALL what we want.
    Another method I have tried is to wrap the captivate file into a flash "loader". All this flash file is to do a Load Movie with the captivate into a target movieClip called "container".  With this "container", I've used an imported AS2 flash player 9 "hideText" swf  that has a "Show/Hide text" button in it:-
    All this "hideText" swf has on a single frame is:-
    textHidden=false;
    _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
    hideText.onRelease=function() {
        if (textHidden==false) {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _parent.bodyText._visible = false;
        textHidden=true;
        } else {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _parent.bodyText._visible = true;
    stop();
    also tried this first:-
    textHidden=false;
    _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
    hideText.onRelease=function() {
        if (textHidden==false) {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.bodyText._visible = false;
        textHidden=true;
        } else {
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.rdcmndPause = 1;
        _root.container.cpSkinLoader_mc.bodyText._visible = true;
    stop();
    Both didn't work. Am I targeting the text caption incorrectly here?
    if anybody can spare some time, I need help to achieve a solution please?

    I also agree with your suggestions but posting them here on this forum is of very little use.

  • How do you create closed captioning in Premiere 5.5?

    I have a client that would like me to add closed captioning to his videos.  I'm not sure how to do this.  Could someone please tell me how?

    Hi morenuts,
    In Premiere Pro CS5.5, you can attach a closed captioning file and view it in the Program Monitor. Check out this video for details: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/short-and-suite/closed-captions-in-premiere-pro-cs55/

  • Creating Closed Captions in Final Cut Pro

    Does anyone have any reference information on adding Caption Files to Final Cut Pro?

    The caption file gets imported to the track.
    The file must be in the correct format - see the section in the manual.
    The timecode of the track or mpeg asset must match the timecode of the master used for the captioning.

  • Importing Closed Caption .scc file into Premiere Pro CS6.  Closed Captioning is enabled but cannot see the Captions tab.  Also get error message when importing to bin.

    I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  My aim is to export an mpeg file with closed captioning embeded for network television.  I have watched numbers adobe videos and have spent countless hours researching this.  I am able to generate about 29 different types of Closed Caption files using MovieCaptioner- including .scc (which Adobe says they prefer).  When I try to "Import" the file I get an incompatible error message.  The same happens with all other cc file types when I try to import them.  Second, I tried attaching the .scc as an attachment in the sequence menu.  They show up in the preview window, but do no encode into the mpeg file.  I am aware of this form:  Re: How do I export closed-captioned movies from Premiere CS6?
    Third- I have watched some adobe video for created the CC files within Premiere. http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/create-closed-captions-within-premiere-pro /
    However, I cannot find the "Caption" menu to do so?  Where is it?
    Am I running into problems because I am not on the Creative Cloud?  IF so, is it possible to upgrade and how do i do that.  Adobe has made it incredibly difficult to contact anybody.

    Sorry, you cannot do this in Premiere Pro CS6. Only QuickTime files can be exported with embedded closed captioning and this must be done in Premiere Pro CC or later. All other formats must use a sidecar file.

    You can only attach a closed caption file in Premiere Pro CS6, no encoding is available for closed caption files (embedded or sidecar).

    Caption is a tab is in the Export Settings dialog box if you want to export with closed captions. This tab is available in Premiere Pro CC and later.

    In Creative Cloud, you would still have trouble encoding a MPEG 2 file with embedded captions as it is a QuickTime only feature. There might be a plug-in available, but I'm not aware of it.

  • Non-English Closed Captioning

    Hi there,
    I need to create closed captions for a video that aren't in English (Bengali and Hindi). Is there a way to add CC that aren't in English in Premiere Pro? In the captioning window the Bengali shows up correctly but on the program monitor the letters just show up as boxes.
    Any ideas on a workaround?
    Thanks!

  • Can you do Closed Captioning on FCP HD

    I have been using FCP to create a few TV programs and need to create closed captioning, but I can't seem to figure out if I can use FCP to generate closed captioning.
    Anyone know how to create closed captioning in a FCP environment?
    Thanks,

    Wai a second. So my clients won't know the difference between subtitling and the closted captioning? Does subtitling run on line 21 as well?
    <
    Well, I've never met your clients but 90% of mine have no clue.
    Subtitling is permanently burned into the image. Could be another language but could be the native or local language written out for the hard of hearing or to make poor audio intelligible.
    Captioning (open/closed) is user-activated at the playback device. All TVs have CC switchable display. But there are several flavors of captioning including multiple language encoding.

  • Closed Network is still visible

    I have an Airport Express setup to create a network. On the same "wireless" tab in the AirPort Utility, when you click on the "Wireless Network Options" there is a check mark in the box for "Create Closed Network". However, the network is still visible. Why? Thanks for the help!
    Message was edited by: rminot

    +Bob, the option specifically says: "The name of a "closed" network is hidden. To join the network, a user must know the name of the network."+
    It says this on your "main" AirPort Express setup in AirPort Utility. But there is no option for this if you are using an AirPort Express to extend using wireless only.
    You posted that you were using a second AirPort Express to extend your wireless network.
    Click on your "remote" AirPort Express in AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
    Do you see any option that would tell the "extending" AirPort Express to hide your network? I can't find it.
    My guess was that the extending device is broadcasting the name of the network since there is no option that would allow it to be "hidden".
    Suggest that your follow up with Apple as I cannot speak for their product design decisions. AirPort Express Feedback.

  • Fill created object

    Hi Gurus
      I am very new , new to illustrator and I hope I can get help from you to better understand this tool and how to use it.
    Here is my problem as of now, I created a shape but click on the tool bar and then moving the shapes to form the complete form
       I click on line and make a horizontal line, then I click on the line tool again and created a vertical line  and by moving the lines I make them overlap so the look like the are connected, the same thing I did with arc tool and other shapes to create my final shape, the problem that I am facing ,
    is that I guess I don't know how to fill the shape with a particular color , because no matter what I do, the area of the shape does not get fill, I read about the path which i don't understand very well , but when I try to join the path  I get an error stating ,
    " The selected Object cannot be joined as they are invalid objects(compound path,close paths,text Object,graphs,live paint group) You can use join command to connect two or more paths,path in groups or to close an open path."
      I have no clue what this error is about, I am really  hoping that some one here came  across this error and can help me resolve this problem, so I can fill  my shape area with color.
    Thanks a bunch gurus

    newbiws,
    The Pen Tool, or one of the shape tools, such as the Rectangle Group or the Ellipse group (ClickHold the main tool in the Toolbox to see the options fly out), would be the right tool to create closed shapes.
    The Line Segment Tool only creates one open straight path at a time, so you will end up with multiple separate straight paths. You may join them in different ways depending on the version (just Ctrl/Cmd+J for the latest ones), but unless the Anchor Points coincide, you will get a mess.
    You need a path with at leat one curved segment or at least two non parallel segments to get a fill, because the fill covers what is in between the segments.You may apply a fill to a straight path, but it will not show because there is nothing to show it in.
    This means that you can have an open path with a fill, but often that is messy and leads to issues, and the lacking segment(s) will show as a straight boundary of the fill; and if you have a stroke, the absence at the straight boundary is very conspicuous.

  • Closed Captioning with CS4 Premiere

    I need
    to create closed captioning in CS 4 Premiere. But don't get confused with subtitles; I am talking about the cignal that is encoded on line 21 of whatever goes on air, and viewers can watch at home.
    I used to do it in AVID using a simple software that created JPEGs, but it won't work with Premiere.
    I greatly appreciate any info. Thank you.

    Though for En CS5, this is the start:
    Closed captions basics
    About closed captions
    Closed captions provide assistance for the hearing impaired. Through captioning, the audio portion of a program appears as text superimposed over the image. Closed captions include dialogue, as well as descriptions of sounds in the program. Only the NTSC television standard accepts closed captions; PAL does not.
    You create closed captions using a third-party captioning application, exporting them as source safe format (SCC) files. You then reference the SCC files by assigning them to clips in a timeline, using the Video Clip Properties panel. Closed captions will synchronize with the source timecode of the video clips you assign them to.
    Note: Closed captions are not supported for Blu-ray or Flash projects.
    Add closed captions to video
    Closed captions that you add to your DVD project will only appear on the final DVD; they do not appear in Encore, in either the Monitor panel or Project Preview window.
    1 In the Timeline Viewer, select the video clip to add closed captions to. If necessary, Alt-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac OS) to select the video track separately from its audio track.
    2 In the Video Clip Properties panel, click the Browse button for Field 1. Locate and select the SCC file that contains the closed captions, and then click Open.
    Note: Moving the SCC file or the Encore project file will break the links to the closed captions. To reset the links, repeat these steps to select the video clip, click Browse in the Video Clip Properties panel, and reselect the SCC file.
    That was from Page 149 in the CS5 PDF.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt
