Create Custom Disk Menu in PE7

I have recently purchased PE7 and so far I like it a lot. One thing though, I have little control over the Disk Menus. What I basically want to do is have a background picture with several text boxes as the buttons instead of the thumbnails.
Is there anyway in PE7 to do this? I have Photoshop Elements 2.0 and am willing to upgrade my Elements version if needed to create my own custom DVD menus.
Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

There are two basic approaches to having your "own" DVD Menu Template for use in Premiere Elements.
From Scratch
a. Create the .psd for the DVD Menu Template in Photoshop which has the Layer Group feature that is required for this work, using Adobe conventions for layer naming, layer sets, file naming, etc.
b. Or, have installed on your computer the specific combination of Photoshop Elements 4 and Premiere Elements 2. (I am not sure if it is possible to get these older versions anymore.)
Editing of Existing Menus
1. To edit the .psd for the existing DVD Menu, you need a program that can open the .psd and its Layer Groups so that you can get at the individual layers to edit them. I know from first hand experience that Photoshop will do that as well as Photoshop Elements 6 and 7. Photoshop Elements 2 will not open the Layer Groups of the .psd of the DVD Menu Template, allowing you to get at layers in the Layer Group.
There is always the choice to just modify what you can within Create Menu Section within the Program, that is, change text, move things around, maybe add audio (max 30 sec before looping).

You did not say if these buttons were going to represent scenes within one movie on the DVD or if these buttons were going to direct to several different movies on the DVD.
I will not go into detail now, but just offer a bunch of miscellaneous notes for your consideration:
1. If you are using existing DVD Menu, look for those that have at least the number of buttons/page that you need. The "Play Movie" button is not one that I have found that I could remove and replace or make invisible unless I went into the program files and got at its .psd in the DVD template. Of course you could always leave it be as a Play All. Remember, if you pick a template designed for say 6 buttons and you have 7, you will end up with two page of DVD menu (one with 6 and one with 1).
2. The buttons on the menus are directly linked to the markers that you place on the Timeline, so, if your menu is a main menu, then you need to use main menu markers...and so on....
3. If your buttons are going to represent several movies on the same DVD, then you are going to get into a procedure using Main Menu Markers and Stop Markers on the Premiere Elements Timeline.
I think that the fact that Photoshop Elements 2 cannot open the .psd DVD Menu Template is going to curb your flexibility in this matter. But, do not take my word for this, try it and see if you come to the same finding.

I know that starting from EL 11 it is possible through Photoshop EL 11 to create custom DVD Menu starting from scratch.
I fail finding on the Internet proper documentation for both creating it on Photoshop EL 11 and importing/using it on Premeiere EL 11.
I sometimes wish to create a Web DVD to put on the Internet and all I need is a nice background picture and a Play button.

The only problem that you might have, other than getting all of the naming and structural aspects correct (very specific), would be with the creation of Layer Sets in PSE. I am not sure if they have been added to PSE, and they are necessary for creating the Buttons. As I use Photoshop, and do not own PSE, I cannot tell you whether Layer Sets have been added.

I strongly recommend that one spend some time with one of the PrE Template Menu Sets, studying every aspect of what is reqired. Even though I create Menus (for Encore), and Menu Sets for PrE, I still will use one of those Templates as a "guide."
Now, if PSE does not yet have Layer Sets, one can still find an existing Template Menu Set, that comes close to what they wish to do, and heavily modify that in PSE.
One thing that trips up many DVD Menu designers, when they start out, is that NO Button may overlap any other Button, even by 1 pixel.

I've created custom disk report with sql query to pull the disk space for all servers. The report has parameters start data,End date and computer name but now my requirement would be to get the disk reports based on custom created computer group, Is it possible
to feed computer group name instead of computer name in the custom reports?

Hi,
For SCOM 2007, you can’t select a group of servers and run a free disk space report on them. And for 2012 I think it also like that.
But based on my research, someone said that when you create group with Logical Disk targets, it may work. Here are two similar threads for your reference:

Error while creating iViews after implementing custom hover menu in NW 7.3

TarTitle=Portal Content Management
You'd have to examine why this is not escaped.

Can I create a custom DVD menu in Premiere Pro 2.0?

I like the templates I have, but is there a way I can create a custom DVD menu in PP 2.0?

I would also suggest using the same general naming conventions for your Main and Scene Selection Menus. Names, like this: NTSC_abstract_s_mm.psd and NTSC_abstract_s_sm.psd. In this case, I would change the word "abstract" to indicate your Project, or similar.
Also, in PrPro 2.0, your Menus will be in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0\DVD Templates\[Your New Folder].

I built a custom menu in BPC 7.5 using the step-by-step procedure available in u201CHow Tou2026 Create Custom Menu within BPC NWu201D. It uses the OPENFILE option with EvMnu to open dynamic templates describing this limit:
The OPENFILE option within the NW Version can only open workbooks from cached directories in local PC. Therefore, it is a best practice to ensure that OPENFILE only refers to templates that are available as dynamic templates that are cached (updated template version) on all client PCs that are using the EvMnu based workbook.
At the moment Iu2019m working with more than 40 users, which surely will increase. So, I have to find others solutions or automate the local saving:
- Do I have to ask our users to save locally all dynamic templates?
- Do you know if I can save automatically (not manually one-by-one) all dynamic templates in all client PCs allowing the OPENFILE option to work correctly?
- Do you know if there are others solutions, like commands or macro (not BPF), to open dynamic templates from custom menu without local saving?

OPENWEBFOLDER works correctly, but unluckily it doesnu2019t cover my issue.
OPENWEBFILE could be the solution, but it doesnu2019t work. I used this syntax:

Clicking it, the system shows this message u201COPENWEBFILE: macro not supportedu201D.

Can you create a custom dvd menu with Premiere Elements 12?

I am giving this software a trial before deciding whether to buy. Is it possible to create your own custom DVD menu? I understand that you can "download" a template and customize it to some extent. But the customizing does not seem to allow you to delete or add elements, like graphics or menu buttons. I want to be able to delete graphics/menu buttons I don't want, as well as add or subtract buttons as I need for each project. Or, I would like to create a menu from scratch.
Is either method possible in Premiere Elements? Thank you for any assistance.

Thanks for the reply.
You can go with a one main menu set up and use main menu buttons. But, note that there are typically far less buttons on the main menu than on the scene menu. One maneuver is to switch the main menu with the scene menu to gain a buttons per page advantage. That is done by reversing the file names of the main menu .psd and scene menu .psd.
At the editing of the .psd level, there is also the choice to add more buttons per page to a scene menu and create text or thumbnail scene buttons.
One of the principles to keep in mind...no one movie in a multi movie Timeline can have its own Scene Menu page.

In any case, I have discovered that I can edit the templates and then bring them into my project. So long as I save them as the same name, Adobe Premiere Elements doesn't realize that anything has changed.
Are you following any one of my blog posts. If so, please let me know which one so I can focus in where you may be overlooking some detail. It is best to work with copies of the original and place them in appropriate folders in the directory structure. In doing that I give the user created menu a new name to distinguish it from the original.
And, in versions 11 and 12, I do not like to save user modified menus in the Online Folder. I prefer the location where the disc menu installed with the program is located. See blog posts.
If your customization does not require the opening of Layer Sets in the Layers Palette of the .psd file (happens under certain plans), Photoshop Elements can do the .psd edit job for you, and you do not have to go to Photoshop CS or higher. There are Photoshop actions that might be used in Photoshop Elements to open Photoshop Layer Sets (as found in the disc menu .psd files), but I will not get into that right now.
Please review and consider. And, then we can go into more details.

Creating a custom programs menu

We have nld9 sp3 workstations in a k-12 environment that are being managed
with ZLM 7. the NLD policies available in ZLM does not allow for enough
granular control of the contents of the Gnome prorgams menu. For
example: NLD policies allow me to remove the system monitor and IRCxchat
but do not have a provision for removing the contents of the internet sub-
menu which contains chat applets etc.
My question is... is there a way to remove unwanted items from the
programs menu or is there a way to create our own menu and have it
substitute for the original menu.

Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The door to the user's Library is hidden in Lion but it is easy to open. How can I create a 'disk image' from a windows 7 professional 64bit installation DVD using a windows laptop with windows 7 Operating system on? I want to transfer this 'disk image' (ISO?) to a USB ready for installing windows onto my 2013 iMac using bootcamp? I want to use bootcamp from a USB as I have no disk drive for the installation DVD on my iMac. I hope all this is clear.

Yes, that's correct, at least not directly. You can create a blank disk image, copy the file to the mounted disk image, then burn the image to a CD/DVD.
Open Disk Utility and select Blank Disk Image from the New menu. Provide a name, Save location, and select the image size from the drop down menu. Leave Encryptions at None and Format as read/write. Click on the Create button.
After the image file appears the "removable" disk should be automatically mounted. If not double-click on it to mount it. A "removable" disk icon will appear. Drag the file you want to place on the disk image to the "removable" disk icon. The eject the "removable" disk icon. Now select the disk image file in the DU left side list and click on the Burn icon in the DU toolbar. Be sure to have a blank disc ready.
The above is actually the "long" way to do this. A much easier way is to simply insert a blank CD or DVD into the optical drive. The Finder will pop up a dialog asking what to do. Select the option to mount on the Desktop. You will now see a disc icon on the Desktop. Drag the file you want to burn to the CD/DVD, right-click or CTRL-click on the disc icon and select Burn from the contextual menu.

Premiere Elements 12 Disk Menu

I placed a JPG photo in the background of the disk menu using the pan and zoom menu template. I adjusted the photo resolution to 1920 by 1080. The video is 1080p 29.97. It leaves a big black border around the photo and there is no way to make the photo bigger. I also tried the photo with a higher resolution with the same problem. The PC is Windows 8.1 - 64 bit. I also seem to get the same problem if I use 1080p video for the background. Any fixes besides getting a better program?

Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Video or Still Background Replacement does not necessarily mean replacement of the whole background. It all depends on how the theme .psd background layer was created. Most of the time the background replacement is a partial one because of the design.
If you want to customize the disc menu in this regard, then you go into the background layer in the Layers Palette of the theme's psd file and edit it. The major psd editor for this purpose would be Photoshop CS or higher. However, if only a background replacement at the.psd level is required, the task might be completed successfully using Photoshop Elements Editor.

Also you may have to do some resizing of the scene selection page thumbnails to get rid of any black borders around them.

Interactive Report - Add a 'custom' Action Menu Item

Hi,
I'm wondering if it is possible to add 'custom' Action menu items to an interactive report?
I have a situation where I want to use all the richness that an interactive report gives with it's out of the box functionality, then if a download is selected I need to be able to set a 'lock' on the currently selected records set before the records are downloaded.
I've had a good look around the forum and various other sites and I can't seem to find anything in this area. The nearest I can find is on the OBD tutorials the ability to add a 'Reset' button.
I know how to create custom download functionality, to which I could add the required record locking functionality and in turn link to a button, but what I don't know how to do is pull out the selection variables from the Interactive Report in order to construct my select query.
Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree and there's a better way if so any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi,
For your issue, in SharePoint Designer, Click Custom Action->View Ribbon->Create Custom Action.
Then the extra form will show up in the Ribbon.

How to Get List Item in Custom Context Menu?

If you can redirect your request on context.....you can try this line of code
<UrlActionUrl=”~site/_layouts/ItemAudit.aspx?ID={ItemId}&List={ListId}”/>
The Idea is to send in query string parameter and get the ItemID in the Pageload Event of the page you want to redirect to.

Need to create custom home page for iProcurment.

I have an issue in iProcurment.
i have modified the Menu name from "Requisitions" to "My Requisitions" in custom responsibility "XX iProcurment" its a replica of standard iProcurment responsibility.
then i clear the Cache and bounce the middle tire even though the changes are not reflecting. But when i do the same changes in the standard iProcurment responsibility then i am able to see the changes.
Create a main menu XX_ICX_POR_SSP_HOME its a replica of ICX_POR_SSP_HOME then attached to XX iProcurment
