Create DDP image from VIDEO_TS folder

Hi. I have a mastered DVD-R for DVD-5 replication. The replicator is requesting a DDP image - can I create a DDP image with DVDSP4 from the VIDEO_TS folder? Or from a disc image of the DVD? I don't have the DVDSP project - just the disc. The replicator is waiting! Any help greatly appreciated!!

Eric,
OK. It may seem like I took off a little on you, and it's true, I’ll admit. But let me fully pour out the real reason that caused my replies, and address the underlying injustice that I believe you’ve done to me personally, to King and Jonathan in the threads here, and to the DVD industry as a whole; not to mention to yourself.
I saw your offers to do jobs here for two good authors. The first thing I did was to go to your brand new website. I was shocked and dismayed to see some of its contents.
Where do I begin?
(For those who want to follow along: http://www.poweragemedia.com/services.html )
First, your “one man shop just wanting to help out and not charge”, is advertising on that site that you have Eclipse, MEI DVD-Video Verifier, Sonic Scenarist, and player banks – all capabilities I have, and that I know you are not licensed for and/or do not have - any of them. So, It seemed that site was trying to say it had the same capabilities I have.
Unbelievable!
On your “Services” page under “Pre-Mastering and Disc Verification” you say:
“With a final MEI and Eclispe report, you can be assured your title will be replicated without errors or issues. These reports check your disc's file structure and DVD specification compliance. In addition, we delivery all our titles on Type IV DLT tape - the replication standard.”
Btw, two mistakes with the above quote – you misspell Eclipse, and no report ever checked any file structure or DVD Specification compliance.
If this were true what you advertise, and that you indeed, have Eclipse and MEI, then you would have never heard a peep out of me, and you would be offering King and Jonathan a great service.
But since I am the one with this capability in house (it doesn’t work cost and time-wise to try to contract these several testing services to others; that's why I can offer such a reasonable price to everyone), and am licensed with those tools, to see someone else I know that doesn’t have them, advertises to my market that they do, does cause a situation (to put it mildly).
So, I repeat from my last reply, ‘what are you thinking, Eric?’
And then, under the “Quality Control and Player Compatibility Testing” heading on the same Services page you say:
“With several year experience and testing under out belts, your disc will have the widest player compatibility worldwide. We've developed our player banks based on proven data gathered over the last several years. This service was once only offered to major theatrical releases until now.”
Since you seem to not have been truthful with the other capabilities you advertise, I’m going to have to question that you even have a player bank (I know you don’t have player “banks”). Oh, and you know that I’ve been offering player bank testing services for at least two and a half years already, why would you say “This service was once only offered to major theatrical releases until now”?
The other services on your site, especially your “Complete Re-authoring Services” where you say:
“Our most unique service! We Specialize in re-authoring or amending discs from which the source files have been lost or corrupted. Using only your VIDEO_TS or image file, we can add logos, change menu attributes, speed up functionality and compatibility and even add or change subtitles.
This service is often useful to distributors who have recently bought older titles and wish to add their current logo or make other amendments to a disc.”
This is also especially dangerous, as you’re talking about making radical changes to the structure of third party clients’ DVDs, and with no tools to check to see what you’ve done is correct!? Early on, during DVDAfterEdit’s development, I was testing customer’s projects to make sure their changes were good; some of them went into runs of over a million. The idea for TFDVD Research Labs sprung up during this time, as I could see I was helping unleash a great power, but I knew a lot of folks could get in big trouble. I spent the $10,000 to get the MEI License and dongle. I would be disrespecting my customers if I didn’t have it.
Importing a simple VOB into another DVD, by itself, can cause lots of errors, if you don't know where else in the data to make some setting changes. I better stop with the description right here of what all could go wrong with adjustments in DVDAfterEdit, if one doesn't know what they're doing and have the verification tools.
Am I not being consistent here? If I ‘jump’ on you for simply writing a third parties Image to DLT without verification tools, wouldn’t I be amiss if I didn’t call you on your falsely advertised ability to make and then verify massive changes to a good authors DVDs?
So, Eric, what am I to think? How am I to respond? Do you see how I might think of this website of yours as ‘stealing’ from me, due to even a perceived 'illegal competition' (of course I know you're not competing with me!)? For sure, as is, your website takes from me my site's uniqueness, as far as listed capabilities, even if your site the way it is a lie.
I’d be more than happy to help you get licensed with those tools. For sure, there would go your “do it for free” attitude in a heartbeat, when you lay out that kind of expenditure! And then you could be right with any clients; not to mention me.
And as far as whether or not all projects should go through me, you’re right, they don’t have to; only the “doomed from the outset” Images should be sent to me, so I can prevent disaster for the production company (I’ve seen three company’s go under over the years from Disc playback blowups in the market and repeated Image submission failures; and too many bad studio/client/lost client situations to count). But since the authoring studio, nor you, is going to know which Images are the bad ones, it follows that they all be sent to me; which is the best advise someone can give an author that inquires - trying to be a 'nanny' won’t help them; both of you are put at risk.
So, I hope it's clearer now: That you started offering to do services here, and at the same time put up a new website with fictitious major capabilities, the whole of which only I offer in our industry; I felt it my duty, as well as to act for legitimate business reasons, to say something.
I fully expect you to make things right,
Thanks,
Trai

  • Can iDVD create disc images from VIDEO_TS folder, and burn them?

    That first question is pretty self-explanatory.
    Background is this: I've downloaded some video folders/files from forum/torrent trading websites. When finished, I have a VIDEO_TS folder, often an EXTRAS_TS folder as well. A while back, I downloaded the app DVD IMAGER to create a disc image. Yesterday that stopped working effectively, so maybe I need to re-download, but I was wondering if there's just a better way? I also downloaded the app called BURN, but can't see yet how that creates disc images.
    Once I create that disc image, I need to burn it, and I was using Disk Utility for that. I'm really looking for some help and advice on the best way to perform these processes.
    Thank you, and let me know if I need to post in another forum.

    Additionally, do you have experience w/ DVD Imager?
    Nope. Like I said, Roxio's Toast Titanium is the top application (and is probably the one that most experienced people use).

  • Creating an image from a Mac and restoring it in another Mac

    Hi,
    I've spent a couple of hours trying to make a copy of one of my macminis, trying to copy it in another macmini to have the SAME machine "duplicated".
    I've read some tutorials online, but something is going wrong....
    First of all, I went to my "master" macmini, DiskUtility, create new image from folder, select my macintosh HD and I created the image of the whole HD.
    Almost a hour after, the image was created.
    Then I moved the .dmg to a USB drive, and I connected the USB pen to the machine that I want to be a "clone" of the master. There, I opened Disk Utility, Restore, I selected the Source image from my USB, but I can't selected (=drag) the Macintosh HD into the "destination" field...
    What I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks, any help is appreciated :))

    Hi sr.richie;
    If you are booted from Macintosh HD then the system will not allow this cloning operation to take place. You must boot from another disk in order to do that.

  • How can I import selected images from a folder instead of the whole folder in iPhoto 9.5.2?

    Hi there,
    I was trying to help my parents import some photos from a folder they have created with photos from their holiday. They only want to import select images from this folder into iPhoto. I said it would be easy and they can do it in 2 ways. First, they can drag and drop selected photos from their folder into iPhoto - and this works for them. However, more convieniently, they can click file>import to Library and then select the photos they want by going into the folder... Well that's how it works on my iPhoto '11 at least. When they showed me their screen via Skype (they are running iPhoto 9.5.2), when they click import to library, and try to go into the folder containing their photos, it imports the whole thing and there appears to be no way that they can enter the folder to select just a few photos from what I could see.
    Does anyone know anything aout this problem?
    Cheers.

    What view are using in the Import dialogue. Column view might be easiest to navigate.

  • Automated way to overlay one image over multiple images from a folder?

    I need to overlay a transparent image of a tablet over about 50 images from a folder - is there any automated way to do this? I can use either Photoshop or Illustrator
    Thanks
    Jamie

    Have you tried makig an aciton yet. Should not be too difficult since you want to to use the same image , you can copy once, and use paste during the action.
    Make sure when you run the action as a batch, that you choose your destination. As a folder is safest, so you do not write over your original file.

  • Create an image from Component

    I have created an ImageLoader that stores images loaded from the filesystem. I do however need a default image that is not reliant on loading an image from the filesystem, in case any images on the filesystem are not found.
    I have tried to use Components createImage() method, until I read that this can only be used if the Component is visible on screen, which my Component never will be.
    What I really want is a grey rectangle as an ImageIcon by what means I get this I'm not bothered,
    hopefully someone can help

    Use the java.awt.image.BufferedImage class. To create a BufferedImage object, no component need to be visible. Here is some sample code:       BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(wid, ht, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
           Graphics2D gc = image.createGraphics();
           gc.drawRect(x,y, width, height);Note that BufferedImage is a subclass of Image. So, you can create ImageIcon from a BufferedImage object.
    If you don't want to use BufferedImage, an option would be to create the image from an array of bytes.

    Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4

    Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
    If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
    To remove the image capture preferences:
    If Aperture is running, quit Aperture,  and log off and on again.
    Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/  then hit return.
    In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
    and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture  something .plist  remove them too.
    then try again.
    And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
    ~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist
    Regards
    Léonie
    P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
    You can reveal it also  from the Finder's "Go" menu:
    Finder > Go,   then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences".

  • How to Drag a image from a folder and drop it into Photoshop, InDesign using keyboard?

  • [SOLVED] How to Create an Image from UTF8 Text via Command-line

    As the title points out, I'm trying to create an image from unicode text via command line. I tried...
    convert -pointsize 48 -size 400 caption:测试用 text.png
    But that results in question marks for the Chinese characters. So searching around online I discovered that I needed to specify a font which could display the characters. The characters show up just fine in Firefox, KDE, Kate, Terminal, etc so I know I have a font which can render them. I thought it might be DejaVu but this also resulted in question marks...
    convert -font /usr/share/fonts/TTF/DejaVuSerif.ttf -pointsize 48 -size 400 caption:测试用 text.png
    Any ideas?

    DejaVu doesn't contain those Chinese glyphs at all, so please don't blame ImageMagick for not rendering them.
    So, Firefox, Kate, Terminal and the others you stated to use DejaVu, if encounter these characters, fall back to some other fonts to render them. These fonts are, however, not vector, but bitmap fonts. (This can be seen if you increase text size (Ctrl++ in Firefox): the Chinese characters don't change, they remain of their inherent size.)
    Actually, e.g. /usr/share/fonts/misc/18x18ko.pcf.gz definitely contains the three example characters, so the mentioned apps may use this font as fall back.
    Apparently ImageMagick doesn't handle bitmap fonts (I'm not sure), so you won't be able to hit your original target. Anyway, since you tried to parse "-pointsize 48", you wouldn't be satisfied with the font size.
    Your only choice seems to be using the above mentioned CJK-approved TTFs.

  • Create an Image from a Component

    Can anybody tell me how to create an Image from a Component?
    I intend to create an Image from a JTable now but I want to have a more generic solution of course to be able to create an Image from any Java / Swing component (Applet, JList, JButton, ...).
    Thank you,
    Dirk

    2 ways:
    1) java.awt.Toolkit.createScreenCapture(Rectangle bounds)
    2) This:
         public static BufferedImage grabByPaint(Component comp) {
              boolean visible = comp.isVisible();
              // if not visible, need to make visible to make sure sizes are correct.
              if(!visible) {
                   comp.setVisible(true);
              Dimension size = comp.getSize();
              BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(size.width, size.height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
              Graphics2D g2d = bi.createGraphics();
              comp.paintAll(g2d);
              if(!visible) {
                   comp.setVisible(false);
              g2d.dispose();
              return bi;
         }

  • Create still images from video files?

    from http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/16/5-new-photoshop-tips-for-photographers/ , "You can now preview video in Bridge and create still images from video files."
    I just installed the 5.4 Camera Raw Update.
    I can preview the AVI files from my Nikon D5000, but have not figured out how I might create a still image ( other than stopping the movie, and dragging to copy ) Have tried searching adobe, this forum, have not found more info ion this.

    Stop the video at the desired point, press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys, drag the cursor so that the whole picture is highlighted, let go of the button, and open the PNG on the desktop.

  • Create transparency image from shape

    Hi,
    I'd like to create the application that create the transparency image from drawing data. the code is as follows.
    BufferedImage img = new BufferedImage(350,350,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D g2 = img.createGraphics();
    GeneralPath gp = new GeneralPath(GeneralPath.WIND_NON_ZERO);
    gp.moveTo(100,100);     gp.lineTo(100,200);
    gp.lineTo(200,200);     gp.lineTo(200,100); gp.closePath();
    g2.setPaint(Color.yellow);
    g2.fill(gp);
    g2.setStroke(new BasicStroke(2));
    g2.setPaint(Color.red);
    g2.draw(gp);
    File outFile = new File("outimg.png");
    ImageIO.write(img,"png",outFile);
    I can create the image from such code, but the image is not transparent since the background is all black. What additional coding I need to make it transparent?
    Thanks,
    Sanphet

    1. use a PixelGrabber to convert the image into a pixel array
    2. (assuming pixel array called pixelArray) :
    if (pixelArray[loopCounter] == 0xFFFFFFFF) { //assuming the black your seeing is not a fully transparent surface
        pixelArray[loopCounter] = pixelArray[loopCounter] & 0x00FFFFFF; //sets alpha channel for all black area to 0, thus making it fully transparent
    }3. recreate an Image using MemoryImageSource
    I'm sure there is a quicker solution using some built in java functions...but hey, I dont' know it!! :)
    Here's a sample class that utilizes these techniques:

  • Unable to create Disc Image from DVD

    I get the following error when trying to make a copy of a family wedding DVD. I'm using Disc Utility and creating the image as a DVD/CD master (.cdr) file. It gets to about 3/4 of the way and then gives the following error.
    The internal drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K05
    Sep 10 22:13:24: Disk Utility started.
    Creating Image “Wedding of xxx & xxx.cdr”
    Reading VOLUME_IDENTIFIER (Apple_UDF : 0)...
    Unable to create “Wedding of Sarah & Federico.cdr” - Input/output error.
    I've tried twice now and the same error. Looks like I might have to use Toast/Popcorn etc?
    Thanks,
    Darren

    I do not know what that error means. However, if you open up the Disk Utility & go into it's Help Menu & in the search field type duplicating a CD or DVD. There you will find detailed instructions on how to create a disc image from a DVD.
    Good possibility your answer may be found there and/or there may have been something you missed in creating a disc image.
    Good luck.
