Create dynamic Topics in WebLogic 12c?

I am new to both JMS and WebLogic, and I can't seem to figure out how to properly run my JMS solution in WebLogic. I have developed my proof-of-concept with Active MQ, but the application will eventually need to run on WebLogic.
Active MQ allowed me to create Topics dynamically, by simply calling createTopic() on TopicSession. If the Topic doesn't exist, it is created, which is exactly what I need. I can't figure out an easy way to do this in WebLogic. I know that createTopic() won't work as per the documentation:
   Note: The createQueue() and createTopic() methods do not create destinations dynamically; they create only references to destinations that already exist.
   For information about creating destinations dynamically, see Chapter 7, "Using JMS Module Helper to Manage Applications."
I am aware that there is a `JMSModuleHelper` class, but the javadoc says the following:
   Note: Oracle recommends that the use of the create (distributed)queue/topic methods be strictly limited, as they directly modify the associated
   JMS Module configuration (your-jms.xml) file and provide minimal feedback for detecting success or failure.
In addition to this warning, the usage of this class involves complex manipulation of MBeans and requires the knowledge of which server my application is running on. This is very inconvenient, since my app will be deployed to multiple servers based on the desired environment (ie. Integration Test, System Test, UAT, Prod, etc).
Is there really no easy way to use dynamic Destinations in WebLogic?
This makes me wonder if my entire JMS based design might be misguided... The idea is that I have 5 different applications, but these applications share a large user base among themselves. These users have consistent IDs among the applications. Some events within any of the applications trigger a JMS message that is broadcast to a Topic with a name derived from the currently logged in USER_ID. Every time a user logs into any of the apps, the app subscribes to that USER_ID_Topic, with the application name being the Subscription ID. This way the message is broadcast to all users when they log in to any of the 5 applications, yet there is a well defined, centralized Topic for all applications to push their user events into.
Is there a way to do this in WebLogic, or is this a bad approach?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Val

I think what your question boils down to is whether you can call Session.createTopic(topicName) to create new topics on-the-fly. The JMS specification doesn't require this to be possible, but many vendors including Glassfish Message Queue do allow this.
If your JMS provider doesn't allow dynamically-created topics you can achieve the same effect by using a standard topic name and then a message selector to "filter" the topic. A message selector allows the consumer to specify that they want to receive only those messages which match some specified condition based on a message property.

  • Dynamic client in weblogic 9

    I have created a dynamic client to invoke a Web Service that uses non-built-in data types as parameter and return type in weblogic8.1 using ant task autotype and JAX-RPC. Now we are moving toward weblogic 9.0 but i could find equivalent way of creating dynamic client. So how can we create dynamic client in weblogic 9.0? I would also like to mention that our clients are standalone client. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for your response.My requirement is, if we change interface means return object or parameters then we don't want to do redeployment of client jar. we want if there is any changes to the interface then it should be taken automatically.

  • DYNAMIC POOLS WHEN WEBLOGIC IS IN MSI MODE

    Hi All,
    Would appreciate help with this pls..
    I am just figuring out how to create dynamic pools in weblogic 8.1 when Management Servers are running in MSI mode..
    Is it feasible?
    If Yes, how? Any sample code pls?
    If not, Why?

    Hello,
    Good question!
    From the docs:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/adminguide/failures.html
    MSI Mode and Managed Server Configuration Changes
    If you start a Managed Server in MSI mode, you cannot change its configuration until it restores communication with the Administration Server.
    Otherwise you can configure dynamic pools in the usual ways e.g.
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/jdbc/programming.html#dynamic_conn_pool
    Why? well I guess you may cause all sorts of problems if you change the server configuration (say by hacking the config.xml file) when it gets a chance to connect to the admin server. but this is just a guess, if you have time why not try it and post your result back to the forum!
    Cheers,

  • Creating a windows Service for Weblogic 12c Domain hosting Apex 2.2 listener

    Hi Guys,
    Does anyone have experience of Weblogic 12c under windows?
    I have some difficulties to create a windows service for a domain.
    Here is the script to create the service:
    echo off
    SETLOCAL
    set DOMAIN_NAME=PMU
    set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\PMU
    set SERVER_NAME=LICORNE2012
    set WL_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_12.1
    set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dweblogic.Name=LICORNE2012
    set WLS_USER=weblogic
    set WLS_PW=password
    set ADMIN_URL=http://LICORNE2012:7001
    set MEM_ARGS=-Xms256m –Xmx256m
    call "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_12.1\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
    ENDLOCAL
    The service is created and when I start the service, it start then stop few second after.
    Here is the error I am getting.

    - not sure about your script, but obviously it doesn't detect the name of your managed server LICORNE2012 since there seems to be an admin server only in that domain.
    - alternatively you might try the approach posted by the AMIS guys
    Weblogic Admin and Managed servers as a Windows service
    - btw: having your domain under user_projects is not best practice (but not the problem here).
    good luck!

    Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately it did not help solve the problem.
    I have managed to get a JMS bridge working between 12c and 8.1 by including the 8.1 weblogic.jar on the classpath. This setup was using eis.jms.WLSConnectionFactoryJNDINoTX.
    After trying to use the adapter that supports transactions, WLSConnectionFactoryJNDIXA I received the following error:
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: can only be called from server
    Is this because the Weblogic 12c server now views the 8.1 server as being foreign?

    Look ups and how JNDI works is explained in the JavaEE6 tutorial: http://docs.oracle.com/javaee/6/tutorial/doc/gipjf.html

  • Invoking a web service from dynamic client in weblogic 7

    Is it possible to invoke a webservice from dynamic client in weblogic 7. Because i tried and it doesn't work. But it works with WL 8.1
    I don't see any samples on the net for weblogic 7.

    Hello rss,
    If you want to invoke a web service from a JCD you will have to build the SOAP message using JAX-RPC or AXIS and then programmatically creat an HTTP connection.
    Or you can leverage the HTTP(S) eWay and then you only have to build the SOAP message.
    Or use eInsight. You can import a WSDL into eInsight and eInsight will offer you a business process Activity to invoke the web service operations defined in the WSDL.

    Well, I don't think this approach is bad in any possible circumstances. It depends on the requirements we don't know. Yes, usually applications should not be designed in this way. But 'usually' does not mean 'never'. One possible case is described in Oracle's example Referencing Database Objects that Do Not Exist at Compilation. It's possible to assume that tables inv_01_2003, inv_04_2003, etc from the referenced topic What Is Dynamic SQL? are generated automatically by some job using dynamic create table stmt. If the OP has similar requirements tnen this approach is not bad. It may not be the best one but it at least is not so bad as you said.
    I believe that OPs know their requirements much better than me. This is why I always try to answer the exact question. If the approach is really ugly then I don't answer such questions at all.

  • Java.lang.StackOverflowError Running BASIC JSF 2 example on Weblogic 12c

    *I followed the very basic tutorial found here  example and cannot seem to get past the following error:*

    I have exhausted several hours searching the web and constructing new projects with no luck. I understand that the StackOverflowError is produced from bad recursion calls and infinite loops, however I can't see this as the case here.
    My current dev stack is eclipse juno (oepe-12.1.1.2.1-juno-distro-win32-x86_64.zip), m2e-wtp, weblogic 12c, Java EE 6 using JSF 2.1
    *If I export the war file using eclipse (Right click the project -> Export -> WAR file) then manually deploy it via the weblogic admin counsel the app works as expected. As soon as I add the project to the server inside eclipse and start the server I can no longer view the page. I noticed that in the autogenerated_ear_ folder per my domain that each project project folder is actually empty.*
    Any help would me MUCH appreciated!!
    UPDATE - Solved the problem! After adding JSF 2.1 in the pom.xml the JSF 2.1 checkbox was checked in project facets, however it did not add the faces-config.xml to the project. I simple created a new xml file named faces-config.xml under the webapp folder and added the following xml:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <faces-config xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee
    http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_2_1.xsd" version="2.1">
    <application></application>
    </faces-config>
    I hope this helps others!

    Hi.
    Try this http://oracleradio.blogspot.com/2012/01/error-durante-el-deployment-de-un.html
    It is in spanish, but the important part is that u may correct the issue, installing 11.1.1.5 with the Feature Pack.
    It seems to be happening with processes that have loop formed with boundary event inside a gateway circuit.
    Hope this helps.

  • Weblogic 12c not picking up persistence unit in WAR

    I'm trying to get an example CRUD application to run on WebLogic 12c (for the app see: http://henk53.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/jsf2-primefaces3-ejb3-jpa2-integration-project/)
    So far the applications runs on JBoss AS 7.1, GlassFish 3.1.2 and TomEE beta 2. In all those application servers persistence.xml is picked-up, and processed so I'm at a loss what's wrong with WebLogic. I'm using Eclipse 3.7.2 and the Oracle WebLogic 12C WTP server adapter for the deployment.
    I'm getting the following exception:

    Notice that "entityManager" is the name of the instance variable in which injection is being performed:
    @PersistenceContext(name="example")
    private EntityManager entityManager;
    If I rename this variable to "em: as follows:
    @PersistenceContext(name="example")
    private EntityManager em;
    Then, lo and behold, the exception changes into:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No persistence unit named 'em' is available in scope jsf_ejb_jpa. Available persistence units: []
    As the example uses a data-source defined in web.xml, which is only marginally supported in most application servers, I tried to define a WebLogic specific application scoped data-source instead and let the persistence unit use that. I couldn't find a way to do this in a .war (is this even possible?), so I created an .ear archive instead. When deploying the EAR, the data-source is clearly being created, but I'm getting the same exception again.
    I finally created an EJB module with a persistence.xml and a simple Singleton that's injected with the entityManager, and added that to the EAR. This works for the EJB module, but in the web module injection of the other entity manager still fails.
    Any idea what might be the problem?

    After some more fiddling, I discovered it's not WebLogic itself that's at fault here, but most likely Oracle's WTP adapter. Apparently it doesn't include persistence.xml in the archive that gets deployed. When I export the project as an .ear archive and copy this to WebLogic's autodeploy directly, things do work.
    I tried to find out what the main difference was between the deployments, but I could not find where the Oracle WTP adapter creates the deployment. I tried to test where a resource inside the EAR resides on the filesystem via the following code inside a backing bean:
    URL url = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("com/example/backing");
    It looks like there isn't a real .war or .ear being created and deployed, but there's a link back to the workspace, as the URL resolves to:
    file:/Users/henk/eclipse37ee/workspace/jsf_ejb_jpa/build/classes/com/example/backing/
    If I execute the same code for the ear in the autodeploy folder, the URL resolves to some jar inside:
    /Users/henk/eclipse37ee/wls1211_dev/mydomain/servers/myserver/tmp/_WL_user/_appsdir_jsf_ejb_jpa_ear_ear/2jzks6/war/WEB-INF/lib/
    In case of the WTP 'deployment' linking back to the Eclipse workspace, META-INF/persistence.xml is actually there too, but for some reason Weblogic can't find it there?

  • Error invoking WebService in Eclipse with WebLogic 12c plugin

    I am using Eclipse Indigo with WebLogic 12c plugin to create a standalone WebService Client which invokes a simple WebService. The WebService is protected by Security Policies Wssp1.2-2007-Wss1.0-X509-Basic256.xml and Wssp1.2-SignBody.xml.
    I get the following exception when I run the standalone client:
    h2. Exception in thread "main" java.util.ServiceConfigurationError: javax.xml.ws.spi.Provider: Provider weblogic.wsee.jaxws.spi.WLSProvider could not be instantiated: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
    The same program works fine using JDeveloper 11g but not in Eclipse Indigo or in Juno. Has anyone faced this issue?
    Thanks,
    Madhav

    The stand-alone client JAR file does not, however, support invoking Web services that use the following advanced features:
    Web services reliable SOAP messaging
    Message-level security (WS-Security)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13760/client.htm#i229632
    Can you try running by adding weblogic.jar. but if you run the client inside the wls Server it should work.

  • Creating Dynamic UI Elements in Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hi,
    I want to an application in which the context nodes and the UI Elements for the second screen get created dynamically at run time based on the input on the first screen
    First i have used this method :
    cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_nodeinfo_from_struct()
    to  create the dynamic context nodes.
    I have checked in debugger and the dynamic context node is getting creates successfully.
    I have saved the reference for the context node in DYN_NODE.
    Now for creating the dynamic UI Elements corresponding to the attributes of this context node, i call the method :
    cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_form_from_node(
    ui_parent = group_1
    node = dyn_node
    inputlength = 20 ).
    But this thing is dumping.
    This is the dump.
    The following error text was processed in the system CG7 : Adapter error in &VIEW_ELEMENT_TYPE& "BP_ICLIENT" of view "ZWD_ONLINE_FORMS.FINAL_VIEW": Context binding of property VALUE cannot be resolved: Node FINAL_VIEW.1.BP does not contain any elements
    Where BP_ICLIENT is the first attribute of the dynmaic context node BP  created..
    Please Help.
    Thanks

  • Issue with Weblogic 12c(12.1.2)

    My service is working as expected in weblogic 11g.Now we are upgrading to weblogic 12c.
    We are facing an issue of "NullPointerException" , due to the values, not getting  populated during server startup from ra.xml.
    In weblogic 11g the control is not going to that location, which is leading to an exception in Web logic 12c(NPE).
    If we validate the null values, control is invoking twice, one with null values and another time with actual values from ra.xml.
    Please help me on the same.

    Hi Sai,
    it did  not solve my issue. I am getting SocketException.The post you were talking about is BindException.
    Please help me if you can do something on this.
    Some where i have seen like this
    Using IPv6-Formatted Addresses
    Platform: All
    When using an IPv6-formatted address for WebLogic Server, the URL should include square brackets ('[' and ']') for the host address. Otherwise, WLST may fail to connect to the running server.
    Workaround
    Add square brackets to the host address. For example:
    t3://[fe80:0:0:0:203:baff:fe2f:59e5]:9991.
    But i dont know in which file these hosts contains.

  • Upgrading to weblogic 12c issue with JSF

    Migrating to the Weblogic 12c faced so many issue with the shared class library. After fixing all the issue stuck with JSF and on google everywhere it was mentioned error happening due to multiple JSF version colliding.
    My whole application works like a charm in 10.3.6 but same app not working after updating the spring 4 and hibernate 4.
    This is the error I am receiving below errors ...
