Create flip book in After Effects

Hello,
I'm completely new to After Effects. So I wonder if it is a easy way to create like a book/magazine in which you can flip through the spreads and add links. And then save it in a format that can be published online. Anyone know?

As Mylenium says, you will have to do this in something else. After Effects creates video only. No interactivity. Now, you can use AE to make assets to be used elsewhere - I do that all the time - but you can't create links or other interactivity in AE.

  • "Flip-book"  like image effect in Captivate 5

    Hello all ! New to the forum and pretty new to captivate over here ! I just wondered if you could help me with something ! How to make a flip-book like image effect ? There is an example on slide 3 of this Captivate example : http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/educators/include/softskills_training/modal.html?w idth=752&height=440    Any help would be great !  And.. why is it everytime I press Enter it it drops the whole paragraph instead of making a new line ?   Thanks !
    I noticed the link doesn't seem to work,http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/captivate/
    The presentation I mean is called "soft skills training"
    Any help would be  great !

    Hi Scott.
    As far as I know, that is not a function built into Cp5.  It looks like some kind of flash animation/widget built otuside Captivate and then imported.
    If someone else knows otherwise, please chime in.  Or if that widget can be downloaded somewhere, I'd love to take a look at it.

    HELP. I have a project that needs to be delivered.

    The alert message is just telling you that a specific feature won't use the GPU. This message is innocuous. It only means that the processing of one specific, obsolete feature will use the CPU, not the GPU.
    Are you saying that After Effects won't start or open your project?

  • Create flip book/online catalogue

    I've checked almost every possible way to do this. But not found a simple and effective way to do it. The issue is making a simple flip book of a InDesign document, which i can upload to a server. I need it to flip pages, have working links and the possibility to zoom in and out. Is this possible in InDesign or any other Adobe software. Everything I've found until now I have to know coding or buy some expensive software. I need something quick and easy

    The links doesn't work because the urls have a red dot on it in the hyperlinks panel in InDesign. Anyone know why that happens?
    Missing http:// at the beginning of URL?
    You can try eDocker CREATE! as well; http://www.edocker.com/edocker/edocker-create/
    You can make html5 web-apps with it... you can try fully functional trial version for free...

  • Bringing Photoshop created 3D text into After Effects to work in 3D space?

    Hi everyone,
    I created 3D text (logo) in photo shop and want to bring it into after effects in order to use it in 3D space. Is it possible? I cant figure out how to bring it in there and still be able to use it in 3D space. it just comes out as a flat image no matter how i bring it in.. ??
    Thank you...

    As Andrew said, if (CS6){no deal}. for previous versions it should work, but keep in mind that AE will only open files from a matching version of PS, i.e. CS4 files will not work properly in CS5 nor the other way around. This stuff has changed with every version....

  • Is it possible to create Qt Widgets inside After Effects using the SDK?

    Hi,
    I would like to use Qt to create Dialogs and Widgets inside AfterEffects.
    I started out with the Panelator example in the SDK. I can include QtGui into the project, but as soon as I create any object with QObject as a base-class After Effects crashes immediately with the following error: '[...] could not be loaded (48::46)'
    When I try delay load QtCore.dll and QtGui.dll I can at least start the plugin and see, that the crash happens in the initializer of the QObject.
    I use
    VS 2010
    QT 4.8.5
    and my buildenvironment is x64
    I was wondering if there is any kind of incompatibility of embedding Qt in After Effects (due to linker/compiler setting or defines or something like this).
    This is the debugger output:
    Locals:
    Threads:
    My code in the Panel-constructor function:
        int argc = 0;
        char *argv[1] = {""};
        QApplication* a = new QApplication(argc, argv); // THE ERROR OCCURS IN THIS LINE. for a test I exchanged it to QWidget* w = new QWidget(); and it happens as well.
        QWidget* w = new QWidget();
        w->show();
        a->exec();
    Outside of AfterFX Qt works fine and I also can delay-load QtGui and QtCore.
    If anyone of you already has experience in using QT in AfterEffects, I would really appreciate your help!
    Thanks in advance.

    It finds QtGui and QtCore, it misses out some other dependencies further down in the hierarchy of USER32.DLL:
    Which doesn't seem to disturb if I don't include and use QT:

  • How to create flip book in InDesign so it starts with a single page

    The flip book out of InDesign is cool - but I have not been able to find a way to create it so that it starts with a single page, rather than a spread (with a blank white page opposite the cover).  Any help appreciated.

    Moving thread from Creative Cloud Forum to InDesign Forum.
    Hi there,
    Currently, there isn't a direct way to make the cover page a single page through InDesign. You'll need to 'fake' it by fill the left side (first page) of the spread the same color as the background of your web page.
    Petteri_Paananen has suggested an alternative workaround using eDocContainer. You can find more info here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2279180#2279180#2279180

  • Use Videos Created in Photoshop within After Effects - Possible?

    Hello, newbie here. Can i use create video files in Photoshop CC and then import them in After Effects CC as video files?
    I create video files in Photoshop CC using Photoshop CC's timeline* and save the video project in Photoshop as TIFF or PSD.
    When i import these TIFFs oder PSDs to After Effects, they will only appear as still images, whatever settings i use on import (footage vs. layers). I don't see how to have the TIFFs or PSDs playing in After Effects as a video.
    Is it even possible to bring a video project from Photoshop to AE as video and not as a still image?
    I understand that the alternative would be to render the Photoshop video as MP4 and bring that MP4 into After Effects. I would prefer to avoid the MP4 route though.
    Thanks!

    Dave, thanks - i import now the PSD file as "Sequence" and as "Composition - Retain Layer Size" and then i click "Create new Composition from Selection".
    Then i get a timeline which shows the correct running time of the video created in Photoshop. All the layers and tracks are there. I also see either an image from the video or a black screen.
    But i cannot play it. I can't see different frames of the video - neither by dragging the timeline marker nor by clicking "Play/Pause".
    That's certainly an awkward newbie problem - seeing your video, but not able to even play it. But i even watched through the full length of three extremely detailed Adobe/Lynda video tutorials (on the official Adobe site) and didn't get closer to an answer why the video doesn't play in AE.
    I have to admit that on importing i get a Quicktime error message. I also studied the official Adobe page regarding that error message and didn't understand it. But i know that when i 'had* Quicktime installed previously, it ruined my system and my mood.
    So if you have any quick hint, that would be great. Thanks!

    Hello;
    i am newbie and learning adobe after effects cs6. I have downloaded  different templates from web and edited them according my wish and now i  want to create final movie by combining all the clips.
    Some clips/projects are with different resolution, i have rendered all projects separately and created individual .mov clips.
    Now i want to create final movie by combining all the clips.
    As  i stated above i am completely newbie so please guide me with details, hope you guys wont mind it.
    Iam working with adobe after effects cs6.
    Thanks

    > one last question how to resize the movies?
    There are lots of ways in After Effects to resize things, including using the Scale property that is on every layer or using the Detail-preserving Upscale effect.
    Please, do go through the basic learning materials that I linked to.

  • Going to buy some books on after effects. Which ones do you suggest?

    I'll be ordering them from amazon.co.uk so the selection is slightly worse than amazon.com's
    Here's whats available:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_13?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords =after+effects&x=0&y=0&sprefix=After+effects
    Anyone have any experience with these?

    >What do you guys think about buying books that are for CS4 when I have CS5?
    >  Big difference or barely noticable?
    I say to go for it. In fact, going back to CS3 is still valuable for good tutorials and books. Further than that gets confusing.
    The big changes in After Effects CS5 from CS4 were under the hood: the 64-bit port and lots of performance and memory improvements. And we added a few big things that are pretty well isolated, such as Roto Brush---which is great, but it doesn't change the way that a lot of other things are done. There weren't very many little changes, which are the things that would make using a book from a different version difficult.
    Here's a complete list of changes between After Effects CS4 and After Effects CS5.

  • Which product to use to build a "flip book" type of effect?

    I have 67 digital photos of the same view with slight differences between them. I wish to build one file that I can export to create what looks like one of those old-fashioned "flip books"  or old moving picture (jittery motion).
    I used to be able to do this in Adobe ImageReady by importing the photos as frames and tweening them.
    I'm new to CS5 and have been looking all over the place for the right application to use with no luck.
    Which one do I use???
    Please be specific as I've looked into Fireworks and Flash but neither or those seems to allow me to import a folder of files and put them on layers.
    Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    I think what you want is an animated.gif.  And you can do that in Photoshop.

  • Create isobar lines in after effects

    Can anyone help me withe the creation of animated isobar lines? Like yhe ones you see on the weatherforecast?
    Grts

    Isobars from a weather system are drawn by an illustration app that pulls x-y coordinates for the edges of the lines from pressure readings and extrapolation algorithms specific to the task of monitoring and displaying atmospheric conditions. To create them manually is not all that difficult but it relies on your ability to imagine the lines and then use any of several applications or AE filters to create them. You could use a grayscale to return contour lines or you could use 3D systems to create mountains or bulges that can be rendered as contour lines instead of shapes. However, you may not need REAL isobars as much as you need the illusion or suggestion of isobars.
    RadioWaves can help, there's an input for custom shapes. WaveWorld can help. Several audio filters can create concentric rings that can be deformed using Puppet or compound effects.
    Also expore mathematics and GIS systems to see if the outputs can be used the way you want.
    It's a tough assignment but you just sort of start exploring how to create concentric shapes and then try to animate them.

  • Create and link to After Effects compositions with Dynamic Link (Production Premium or Master Collection only)

    i have adobe creative suite master collection cs5... i'm currently editing  my project in advertising in premiere pro and tried to replace my clip with an AE, then this window appeared saying "adobe dynamic link needs production premium." but your post says that it works on master collection too. can you tell me a fix that does not require uninstalling or deactivating coz i need to finish my project by tom and my time is running out thanks

    If you're under time constraints, just render the clip out of AE and import it into Premiere.  You can worry about getting Dynamic Link straightened out later.
    If you're unwilling to do a total uninstall, run the Adobe Cleaner application and then reinstall, you really have very little choice in the matter.  Get busy.

  • Creating and Selecting a line in After Effects CC?

    OK, So I suppose this is a two part question...
    But there is a little thing in After Effects CC that is annopying me alot, and it could just be me, and the way I've been doing things...
    1) The way I have creating a simple Line in After effects, is by using the pen tool, placing two points, and then just using a stroke on the Shape Layer, and no fill. Is this the most efficient way to creating a line in After Effects? It's what i have always done, and it's not until CC that it has been a pain.
    2) The reason why it's inconveniencing me is when i try to select that Shape Layer in the Comp Viewer! For some reason, in CS6, when i wanted to select that line, i could just click on it, and it selects the layer, Now, when i click on the line i just made, nothing happens, no where in the line that i can click or highlight will it select the layer of that line, Instead, I have to click the very center of the composition for some reason. there is small unseen point there that i either have to click exactly, or click and drag in that area, in order to select the layer, which gets annoying if there are many line at any given moment. This point is also where the anchor point for the layer is placed.... Is there any way to change this? To be able to change some setting so that when i click on the line itself, it selects it, and to have the Anchor point be placed in the center of the two point i make?

    But I do this kind of thing all the time. The last 5 projects involved 8 stroked horizontal and vertical shape layers drawn with the path tool that I had to move around the screen. I also had a bunch of little shapes that were only 5 X 5 pixels. These layers are nearly impossible to grab in the comp window at even 200% zoom factor without inadvertently grabbing the wrong layer or scaling the layer when you try to move it in the comp window.
    It is like trying to drive a screw with a hammer. It will kind of work but you will do a much better job if you use a screwdriver and the screw will remain undamaged. Hence, selecting small assets in the timeline and moving them around with the transform properties from the timeline is using a screwdriver. Using the direct selection tool is just the wrong tool for this and it always has been. You have to have some real estate to grab on to if you expect to move a layer without scaling it.
    You can mitigate the scaling problem for small layers by adding a simple expression to scale so the layer always stays at 100% but this will just automatically fix the scale problem and won't help moving the layer around in the comp window very much.
