Create guides

Hi,
i'm new to Illustrator CS4 and i need to used it at work.
I was wondering with i'm not able to create new Guides with keyboard shortcut.
in settings it is set for CTRL+5... but in the menu View > Guides > Make Guides it is disabled (grayed).
any idea ?

They are called guides.
I am unaware of a keyboard shortcut in Illustrator (through version 12) that enables you to create guides merely by entering coordinates.
Vertical and horizontal guides pulled from the ruler can be unlocked and moved. Once unlocked (and selected), they can be individually positioned numerically by entering x or y value in the transform palette/panel or control palette/panel. (Remember to re-lock!)
Holding down the shift key while pulling out guides will make them snap to ruler increments.
You might be able to write actions to automate some of this and add keyboard shortcuts. However, if you have a set of guides you re-use often, a template might be a better solution.

Is there a way to create guides within ruler guides or aligned to ruler guides?

So I was wondering for my own sake if there was a way to create guides within ruler guides or have it align to ruler guides? I am working on this magazine where the layout has a ruler guides. Which is inside the margins. I'm guessing this is to ensure the content is safe and also leaving adequate room for folios and running heads. This leaves me with the inside of the ruler guide to create my own grid. I tried doing this by hand and it seems to work fine however I was wondering is there a way to align the guides/grid (columns and rows) to the ruler guides instead of the margin or page? This would be extremely helpful as doing it by hand is quite the task. I'm trying to personally see how many rows and columns I can get in for a verstatile grid that can be used for different sorts of layout. (although I guess the grid could too many rows and columns) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error in creating GUID using com.sap.guid API's

   i am trying to create GUID using com.sap.guid API's. I've included the guidgenerator.jar in the classpath. I ran the following code. i got the "Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/guid/GUIDGeneratorFactory " error.

difficult to reproduce. But it might be a data conversion problem.
e.g. try
to_char(a.num_tabs)If that's not the error comment out certain lines or xmltags and test which one is the reason for the error.

Creating Guides in PSE?

I have not found a way to create Guides in PSE 4 or 5, or any information on doing this. Can anyone tell me how this can be done?
Also, guides made on a file created in Photoshop 7 or CS2 do not show up when the file is opened in Elements - is there a way around that?

Turns out you're right, guides created in PH& or CS2 DO show up in PSE 5.
Any thoughts on how to create or view them in 4?
I'm sorry, I don't have enough PSE experience to know how it works, because it's so simple to click and drag from the ruler in CS2.

Create guides in monitor

Hi!
Is ist possible to create guide-lines in the preview monitor like guides in photoshop to move videos precisely to a certain position?

Actually, unless one is doing something simple, I find Titler to be a bit more work, than PS. I just do an Image New, choosing the proper Video Preset and then View>Grid. With the Pen Tool, I can easily and quickly create my Paths, in any increments that I want. Then, Stroke Paths does the job. Note: due to PAR differences, the new Guides might appear at different Stroke widths.
If I'm doing a lot of PiP, I'll build these with rectangles positioned and sized to suit. This really speeds up Keyframing Motion & Scale for me.
Maybe I just always look for a reason to fire up PS?

Joe, I think that this should be pretty close to what you want. It looks for path items in the selection, then should check to see if its a rectangle if it is then inset guides 3mm. I think it needs a check for right & left direction control points but I have NOT the time at the mo.

Input / Output Error when creating GUID Partition on External Drives

I've been trying to setup an install of OS X on an external device and therefore need to partition them to the GUID Partition Scheme.
I've tried it with my iPod and an External Hard Disk Drive and no matter what I do, I get the error:
Exited with Error: Input / Output Error
Thats all I get. I can partition them with either of the other two choices, but of course those wont let me boot an Intel Based Mac.
The External HDD is USB 2.0, the iPod I've tried both USB and Firewire, and have not had any luck. I know it can be done, but am not sure why I'm having this problem.
Any suggestions?

Why system creates GUID?

Hello Gurus,
I am new SRM. I see GUID is being created for the objects (SC, PO, Vendor etc) in SRM system. Why do we need this? For ex: for Shopping Cart, SC number is the unique identifier, then why do we need GUID for SC?

GUIDs are system generated unique keys which identifies CRM and SRM objects (Shopping Carts, Invoices, business partners, products , category ID etc.). SRM & CRM & MSA works on GUIDs. Most of the table relationships are defined on GUIDs.
Guid Globally Unique Identifier
Used as primary keys in SRM tables.
All transactions are uniquely identified by their guids internally
Transaction numbers are not unique

GUIDs (Globally Unique Identifiers) serve as primary keys for all tables in the CRM. A GUID is generated by a special algorithm using as input data certain hardware information of the host computer, the current system time, and a randomly generated number. The GUID can be represented in two formats: a 32-byte character field or a 16-byte raw sequence. It is globally unique in the sense that two GUIDs produced on any two computers (or even on the same one) at any time can never be the same.

My MacBook Air recognizes the SSD but I get the option to delete and create GUID!

Hi all, I installed yosemite and now wanted to move to mavericks and I remain hanging in the deletion. The issue is that now I get no option to erase the disc. It appears in disk utility and the terminal recognizes the drive but will not let me to partition it to install OSX. How I can formTear disk drive as GUID for the computer to recognize what, so you can install the OS? PS: I did not recognize the Time Machine disk, not just when you start viewing it in disk utility, Greetings!

Delete one guide at a time

any idea on how to delete/remove one guide at a time pl. I've gone through the forum which clears all the guides but couldnt find any help on deleting guides one at a time.

Yes, with older versions you are stuck with using Action Manger to work with guides. And as far as I can tell you can't remove a single guide with AM code.
You can remove all guides and you can create guides. I also have code that will let you get info about the current guides in a document. With that you could get the info about the guides in a document, remove all the guides, then add back the ones you want to keep. Not pretty but it should work. Here is the code.

Trying to create a sales order in CRM with BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI.

I am trying to create a sales order in CRM using the BAPI BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI.
I need the sales order number as the out put. So I am declaring OBJECT_ID as the export parameter.
This is my source code, I donu2019t get an error, but the sales order is not generated and I donu2019t get any output for my export parameter OBJECT_ID.

Hi am getting the sales order but the item data is not available in sales order. Also should I generate a new guide always for HEADER, ITEM, PARTNER, ORGANIZATION, SCHEDULELINE,u2026u2026for the tables that I use?
I mean do I need to create a new guide each time for all the tables that I use and finally pass only header guide to the bapi 'BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE'.

Getting Runtime error while including pdf doc with Form guides.

Hi,
I have urgent requirement where I have to capture the data in the PDF doc   what user enters into the form Guides.
I am trying this on ES2.
I followed the steps what they mentioned at :: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm - >>Creating Guides using LiveCycle Workbench ES2 -> Including the PDF doc with a document.
They mentioned that we have to create form design (pdf) with same data model.. But When i tries to create form design by including the data model .. it is not allowing to me save as pdf and its telling that we have to save as xdp only.   So saved as xdp only and followd all the same steps what they mentioned .. but we are getting error like :::

[/Form/SampleFormGuides/1.0/Form/MyInformation.xdp] does not exist or you do not have sufficient rights to access it. while invoking service RepositoryService and operation readResourceContent and no fault routes were found to be configured.
Please find my form guide setting to invoke my REST URL.. and my process.

Hi Han,
The problem might be in path of the resources. Please check the path for the pdf you includes at form guide.
Please check concat( ) operation .. make sure that it is correct and pointing as per your work bench.
And
At Configuring the REST endpoint for the PDF render service:,   6th point , please select   as System level rather than INVOKE_PERM.

Configurator guided selling

Hi,
I need help from experts out here on how to handle the situation below
I need to implement guided selling for 15 related models.
Customer/Sales team use iStore/Order Management to place the order
Customer/Sales know the specifications like length, breadth, mode of usage etc of our models.
Since we have 15 some what related models which are again configurable, I need to pose some basic questions and then suggest a model out of these 15 models.
Then user will configure the suggested model.
Now, in Order management, I need to enter a model name to start the configuration using configurator. As mentioned above, before configuring the model, I need to arrive at the model.
One option I was thinking of was to use, a dummy model and add all the 15 models as its child in BOM and import the dummy model in to configurator, create guided selling questions and arrive at a model and then proceed with its configuration.
This means, the users will always place order for this dummy model.
I would like to know what are the implications of using this dummy model on the down stream systems (WIP, Shipping etc.)
Please help....
