"create iphone version"

I thought clicking this menu item might create a more compressed (smaller) file size of the selected movie, but all it does is cause iTunes to freeze (spinning beach ball).  Seems like a bug no?
Peter

On the older hardware you have converting a movie file to an iPhone version could indeed cause iTunes to throw the spinning beachball for an extended period of time. It does not necessarily mean iTunes has crashed, though. It is probably working in the background. Let it sit for a while and it should clear up and you'll have a new file in your library. How long I can't say, but give it at least an hour.

  • Can't copy MP4 file to Iphone even with Create iPhone Version

Whenever I try to copy a MP4 video file to my iPhone 5S, iTunes says it "was not copied because it cannot be played on this iPhone".
I tried using "File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version" and it still can't be copied.
Someone knows what is causing this and have a solution to it?
    Thanks!

  • Itunes VERY SLOW creating iphone version of a video

I used HANDBRAKE to convert a 43 minute video from .avi to mp4, supposedly optimized for ipod/iphone. When I tried to sync the video I could not. I also tried to just drag the video from the itunes video list to the phone, this did not work either.
Next i chose the advanced options in iTunes and clicked on "create ipod or iphone version".
This is taking an extraordinary amount of time. The first attempt went on for about 2 hours and only got through about 2/3 of video. I cancelled the conversion, restarted the computer, and started again. The computer has been working on this task alone for about 30-40 minutes and seems to have converted only about 15-20% of a 43 minute video, from MP4 to iphone mp4.
IS THIS NORMAL ????? SHOULD THIS PROCESS BE MUCH FASTER ?
IS THERE A BETTER WAY ???? WHY DID HANDBRAKE NOT WORK (when it says it is creating an ipod version)?
Thanks for any help and advice !

Install Perian from here http://perian.org/ it will help quicktime play avi files then you can export from quicktime to iphone m4v format. Then just drag file to itunes icon in the dock. Make sure you do nothing else on the computer at the same time. Video encoding is very cpu intensive, and should always be done with nothing else running at the time for best performance.

  • Most options in itunes "create new version" greyed

itunes only gives me the option to create an apple lossless  version when i select a song in my playlists or general music section to create a new version.
This doesn't make sense as most of my music was uploaded using applelossless.  The average song size  is 35 mb for a 5 min. song. This doesnt seem to me to be a compressed song/file.
The other options "create ipod or iiphone version" and create ipad/tv version are greyed out.  Why?
I do need the create iphone version .  How to do this and what happened to create MP3 version as an option here?
    thanks

LIkewise, I have a mac mini belonging to a client and I told him to compress ( "create a new version" of his video library) he said all items greyed out. I collected it Friday , sure enough all  his m4v with drm and his mp4 ( without DRM) will not allow him access to create a new version. I dragged one his films into my account. Authorised the account and it plays etc, the create new version option is there for my whole library bar this film. I am tempted to strip out the DRM but I dont know if it will resolve. I would love to hear from Apple !!!!! or someone older/ younger but wiser what may be the issue.

  • How do you "Create an iPod or iPhone version"?

I bought "Daddy Day Care" from the iTunes store, and after syncing my iPod many, many times, it still won't show up on my iPod. It's a 2nd generation, with 3 gigabytes left. Daddy Day Care is only 1 gigabyte. I think it's the video dimensions, as the touch's dimensions are 640 x 480, and the movie is 853 x 480. I highlighted the movie, and went to the top menu of iTunes, clicked advanced, and tried to click "Create an iPod or iPhone version", but it's grayed out. Does anyone know how to fix this, so that I can watch my movie on my iPod? Thanks!!

    You are doing it correctly.

  • Create an iPod or iphone version - is there any way to avoid duplicate files OR automating a new name for the new file?

    hi,
I have two devices for my videos. An ipod classic and an Ipad. I would prefer to keep the highest resolution possible but also will be travelling and it will be useful to have a large archive with me.
I have found that many of the videos I have are "incompatible" with my ipod classic and am in the process of using the "create an ipod or iphone version" but this results in a duplicate file in my itunes library that is identical in everyway (except size and this can be bigger or smaller).
When you buy a HD video off itunes, you get both versions but only one file populates in the itunes libary.
Is there anyway that when itunes "creates the ipod or iphone version", it can do automatically merge these two files so you only see one file in your library? And then it will automatically sync the appropriate file with the appropriate device?
Or is there a way to have itunes "create the ipod or iphone version" and have it automatically label it with the name "XXX (ipod version"?
I am finding it very annoying to manually change all the titles on all the files being created.
    thanks, margaret

When you open a Word document with Pages you get a translated-to-Pages file & the original Word document is unchanged. There are programs that will save over the original file such as LibreOffice. Pages will not.

  • How do i create an ipod/iphone version of my videos in the new itunes?

In the new version of iTunes, there is no "advanced" drop-down menu, where i can click "create ipod/iphone version" to convert the selected video into a format compatibe with my 4th gen. ipod touch. The videos are already in a mp4 format, but won't sync > itunes just says they're not compatible my ipod. I have also noticed that all the videos added to my library after the update, are being copied to "Home Videos" and the usual file location.

    Select the video. Then:
File menu -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version

  • Create iPod or iPhone Version not working correctly

When I select an MP4 movie and then choose Advanced -> Create iPod or iPhone Version, the movie is converted and a new version is created, but they don't work correctly. In two cases, the resulting file has audio, but the video is missing (just white). With another file, the video is there but the audio is missing. How can I troubleshoot this and get the videos converted properly so I can play them on my iPod?

Having the same issue here. With mencoder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MEncoder) I create an H264 file, after that I create an MP4 file with mp4creator (http://mp4creator.sourceforge.net/). Then I can import the .mp4 file in iTunes just fine, it plays well. But when I select the file, go to menu Advanced, choose 'Create iPod or iPhone Version', the file is converted, audio is fine but video stays white .

  • Create iPod or iPhone version generates all white, audio only video

I have been trying to find any explanation for this by searching here and on Google, with little success.
I am trying to export my movies to my ipod with no success.
I will explain what I do:
I pick a movie from the iTunes Library (it plays just fine), then I go to Advance and click "Create iPod or iPhone Version". iTunes goes through the Conversion process, and after a few minutes (depending on the size of the original movie), I get the converted version, right next to the original one.
This version will be the same length, audio is just fine, but the video is all white (at this point, the video would transfer to my iPod Touch, were I would get the same all white video).
This happens with MP4 files. I followed the steps on Apple Support on how to verify the conversion of files (they provide a MOV file), and that worked fine. I do not have more MOV files to test.
    Other troubleshooting steps included:
    - Trying with different MP4 files as source
    - Trying on different computers (two WinXP PCs with the latest iTunes installed)
    - Removing and reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime
Any feedback is highly appreciated. However, I do not wish to use a 3rd party tool to do this (so recommending Handbrake or others is not that much helpful).
    Thank you!

I can confirm that converting from MOV works, whilst MP4 does not. Unfortunately, unless you use a 3rd party tool to convert from whatever format they're currently in to an MOV file, there's not much you can do until Apple fixes this problem! :C

  • Create a ipod or iphone version

I try to create a ipod or iphone version of this movie but when I try the audio comes in fine but the picture is all white. Is there a fix for this?

    Maybe I should add:
I am using EyeTV (3.1.1) to record TV Shows and then export them using either:
    Format Name: iPod (Smallest)
    Video: H.264/AVC, 320x240, 25 fps
Audio: MPEG-4 Audio, Stereo, 48000 Hz or
    Format Name: Apple TV
    Video: H.264/AVC, 720x576, 25 fps
Audio: MPEG-4 Audio, Stereo, 48000 Hz
All files (after importing them to iTunes) show the same Kind (MPEG-4 video file), Bit Rate (125 kbps) and Video Codec (H.264). They differ in Total Bitrate and Dimensions.
Nevertheless some of them (regardless of their in EyeTV exported format) cannot be copied to my iPhone.
As to my understanding ALL MPEG-4 video files should be copied to the iPhone as Total Bitrate and Dimensions should not be of any relevance (I was told iTunes Music Store Files vary in Bit Rate, Total Bitrate and Dimensions and can be synchronized with any iTunes compatible device). Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you for sharing your experience,
    Axel
EDIT: Using VisualHub I converted a by iPhone not supported file to iTunes - optimized for all devices - and was then able to synchronize it. What can VisualHub do what iTunes is incapable of?

  • Error in "Create iPod or iPhone version" take 2

Apologies: an unfinished version of this question was inadvertently posted a few minutes ago. A slip of the finger. Again, sorry.
In the Advanced pull-down menu, there is an option, "Create iPod or iPhone version," presumably for making video on the computer playable on the iPod or iPhone. I have tried this several times, but usually, after several hours of work, iTunes comes up with an error message. I have successfully converted two videos, but four others have given me the error message.
Is this common, or are there some settings I should be aware of? I'm taking a 2200 mile road trip in a couple of weeks and would like watch some "video" that I OWN on my iTouch. Hopefully I'm not trying to do something that will help hasten the demise of the commercial "video" industry.

I'm seeing this error too. Is anyone else? Any ideas on how to fix it? I see it when I cue several movies for ipod conversion. The process goes through a couple of movies and then provides this lovely error. I can then re-cue the conversion on the files not completed. Stop with another error and repeat. Eventually I get through all of them but since the process takes so freakin long to convert, I normally like to leave it overnight then sync my ipod the next morning. No can do: if it's constantly stopping.

  • Can't transfer movie to iPhone.  Under Advanced tab, does not allow create iPod or iPhone version.  What am I doing wrong?

I purchased a move through iTunes, but I can't transfer it to my iPhone.  I have followed all the directions I've found on the Internet, but under the Advanced Tab, create iPod or iPhone Version is never enabled, only the create AAC Version is enabled.  What am I doing wrong?

  • IPad App Approved, How to Build/Submit iPhone Version?

I've got an iPad app approved and working well through iTunes, but now that the feature is available, I want to publish this for iPhone. I've got a few questions about the best process:
FYI—I've already got my new folios created for iPhone resolutions (as renditions with the same Product ID).
    1. Is it best that I build an iPhone and iPad version of the app and submit it to Apple as a Version update (can I even do this with Apple)? Or should I build just an iPhone version and submit that as a separate app?
    2. Why do I not get the iTunes Subscription option when I try to build the app in Viewer Builder (I chose to make an app for both iPhone and iPad). Multi-Issue is selected and grayed out so I can't change it.
    Thanks!

I'm trying to do exactly the same this morning.
When I open Viewer Builder and try to modify the app (v19, multi-issue) you couldn't go back and select ipad and iphone devices with iOS.
I didn't try, but I think you probably have to create a new app with the same ID and settings, new certificates, etc... and submit to Apple this new one as an update.
    Am I right?

  • ITunes 12 has no option to create AAC version

    iTunes 12.0.1.26
    iOS 8.0.2 (12A405) on associated iPhone 5S
    Win7 Home Prem SP1
    Core i7-4700MQ 4xcore CPU @ 2.4 GHz
129 GiB free on bootable C partition (SSD); 509 GiB free on data partition (conventional magnetic HDD)
I make original ringtones. I just created a new one, imported it to my iTunes library first as an mp3, then as a wav file. When I right-click the associated file in either its mp3 version or wav version, the "Create AAC Version" selection in the context menu no longer appears, not even as a greyed out item, even though "Create MP3 Version" does appear.
Are .m4r files still the native ringtone format for iOS 8? Has the procedure for creating ringtones changed?

In Preferences (CTRL + ,), in the General tab, click on Import Settings...
You need to select AAC Encoder in the Import Using drop down menu.
Now Create AAC Version should appear in your right-click context menu.
