Create Keys for joining tables

Can I create a data element for a given table that can be used as a joining utility data item for extracting data from two or more tables?
I have a business area with tables that are basically non-relational because of the absence of data elements that are of common name or meaning.

it will be better if we can have the table structure, depending upon what information we have and there is no join condition between different table you could try with UNION.

Hi Selva,
Many Primary Keys = Composite Key.
i.e some set of columns will enable you to identify a unique row from a set of rows in the table.
This can be achieved by checking the primary key check box in se11.

Remote key for lookup tables

Hi,
I need some advice on remote keys for lookup tables.
We have loaded lookup data from several client system into the MDM repository. Each of the client system can have diffferences in the lookup values. What we need to do is to enable the keymappings so that the syndicator would know which value belongs to which system.
The tricky part is. We haven't managed to send out the values based on the remote keys. We do <b></b>not<b></b> want to send the lookup tables themselves but the actually main table records. All lookup data should be checked at the point of the syndication and only the used lookup values that orginally came from one system should be send to that particular system. Otherwise they should be tag should be blank.
Is this the right approach to handle this demand or is there a different way to take care of this? What would be the right settings in the syndicator?
Help will be rewarded.

that is correct. Let's take two examples:
1) regions
2) Sales Area data (qualified lookup data)
Both tables are filled and loaded directly from the R/3s. So you would already know which value belongs to which system.
The problem that I have is that we will not map the remote key from the main table because it will be blank for new created master data (Centralization scenario). Therefore we cannot map the remote key from the attached lookup tables, can we?
The remote key will only work for lookup tables if the remote key of the actual master data is mapped. Since we don't have the remote key (local customer ID form R/3) in MDM and since we do not create it at the point of the syndication... how would the SAP standard scenario would look like for that?
This is nothing extraordinary it's just a standard centralization scneario.
Please advice.

Hi,
You need to create search helps based on this table for each filed or one for all the fields with proper import and export paramters. Or else you can give check table entries for each of the table fields for which you need the F4 help. Check table us assigned to a field using the Foriegn key assignment.

Getting Candidate Keys for a Table?

Hi,
Does anyone know a way of getting a list of all candidate keys for a table? (all "UNIQUE" sets of columns defined when creating a table).
I looked in DatabaseMetaData, but there you can only get a list of primary key fields.
I'm using Java 1.3.1 with a PostgreSQL backend.

Anil,
This is absolutely mandatory to delete the data from any of the table if you want to change the key fields of the table. This is as good as universal law in data base theory
Now as far as your ODS is concerned, you have to delete the complete data from it and then you can change the key fields of it. Again you just need to change this in the definition of ODS and not in any particular table.
Just change the definition of ODS in development and transport it to production. Make sure top delete the data before you transport it. If not, transport will fail.

Authorization
For authorization checks, there are many ways of linking authorization objects with user actions in an SAP system. The following discusses three possibilities in the context of ABAP programming.
Authorization Check for Transactions
You can directly link authorization objects with transaction codes. You can enter values for the fields of an authorization object in the transaction maintenance. Before the transaction is executed, the system compares these values with the values in the user master record and only starts the transaction if the appropriate authorization exists.
Authorization Check for ABAP Programs
For ABAP programs, the two objects S_DEVELOP (program development and program execution) and S_PROGRAM (program maintenance) exist. They contains a field P_GROUP that is connected with the program attribute authorization group. Thus, you can assign users program-specific authorizations for individual ABAP programs.
Authorization Check in ABAP Programs
A more sophisticated, user-programmed authorization check is possible using the Authority-Check statement. It allows you to check the entries in the user master record for specific authorization objects against any other values. Therefore, if a transaction or program is not sufficiently protected or not every user that is authorized to use the program can also execute all the actions, this statement must be used.
AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT object
                        ID name1 FIELD f1
                        ID name2 FIELD f2
                        ID namen FIELD fn.
object is the name of an authorization object. With name1, name2 ... , and so on, you must list all fields of the authorization object object. With f1, f2 ... , and so on, you must specify the values that the system is to check against the entries in the relevant authorization of the user master record. The AUTHORITY-CHECK statement searches for the specified object in the user profile and checks the useru2019s authorizations for all values of f1, f2 ... . You can avoid checking a field name1, name2 ... by replacing FIELD f1 FIELD f2 with DUMMY.
After the FIELD addition, you can only specify an elementary field, not a selection table. However, there are function modules available that execute the AUTHORITY-CHECK statement for all values of selection tables. The AUTHORITY-CHECK statement is supported by a statement pattern.
Only if the user has all authorizations, is the return value sy-subrc of the AUTHORITY-CHECK statement set to 0. The most important return values are:
·        0: The user has an authorization for all specified values.
·        4: The user does not have the authorization.
·        8: The number of specified fields is incorrect.
·        12: The specified authorization object does not exist.
A list of all possible return values is available in the ABAP keyword documentation. The content of sy-subrc has to be closely examined to ascertain the result of the authorization check and react accordingly.

How to create index for particular table in R3

Hi
My load is taking too much time and it leads to process over due error. Does creating indexes on table in r3 side will solve this issue? If so how can we find out on which table does this particular data source depend. I went to maintain extract structure and findout only one table is supplying data for this data source.
Is there any other factors depend to solve this.

it will depend on the table.... Having an index created will speed up the loading but slow down the insert therefore slowing some process perhaps...
May I ask which table it is? And which fields would you need to index?
Are you sure that bottleneck is located in R/3? Analyze your loading time in the monitor and see if this is really the case.
Otherwise you can create index for a table in Tx SE11; first check if an index is not already created...

When do I really need to create indexes for a table?

Once I was talking to a dba in a conference.
He told me that not always I have to create indexes for a single table, it depends of its size.
He said that Oracle read registers in blocks, and for a small table Oracle can read it fully, in a single operation, so in those cases I don't need indexes and statistcs.
So I would like to know how to calculate it.
When do I really need to create indexes for a table?
If someone know any documment that explain that, or have some tips, I'd aprecciate.

Actually the design is completely incorrect.
What you say is
I have
'foo', 'foo series'
'foo','foo model'
'foo',666
By virtue of table3 referring to both table1 and table2.
This means you actually need to have 1 (one) table:
'foo','foo series','foo model', 666
And the 'problem' disappears.

This is how the Work Center is linked to a particular Equipment -
Functional - In IE03 ( view Equipments) You see the Work Center of a particular Equipment.
Technical - Go to view V_EQUI ( view of EQUI and EQUZ). Pass the Equipment number alongwith V_EQUI-PM_OBJTY = 'A' ( i,.e searching for the Object Type Work Center). In this way u ll get the V_EQUI-GEWRK - this is the Work Center ID.
You can pass this Work Center ID to CRHD. And you will get the Work Center text.
CRHD-OBJTY = 'A'
CRHD-OBJID = V_EQUI-GEWRK.
and u ll get the CRHD-ARBPL - this is the Work Center.
So u need to come backwards, alongwith ur CRHD-OBJTY and CRHD-OBJID , you pass the same to V_EQUI and u get the list of equipment numbers alongwith ur ANSWT(Acquisition value).
I guess it solves ur problem.

Creating KEYS for a HashMap property of dynaAction form in jsp

I am developing a view customization module, where the view can be customized by the user .
My view generally contains data from the join of two tables.
Now to customize this view, i am providing a link (a action--viewColumns.do), this action will show user all the columns of both the tables,
The user can then select the columns which he wants to view from customiseView.jsp
The action viewColumns.do is actually returing a hashMap ListColumns in which the key is table name and value is a arraylist of columnNames for that table.
I am able to display this hashMap in customiseView.jsp.
Now the problem is tht i want to assosciate the name of table with the
selected columnNames which users selects for customization in customiseView.jsp.
To do this i am declaring a HashMap property (table_Column) in my formBean .
Now i need to populate this property tableColumn when users selects the columns for the tables.
I am thinking of populating a hashMap
Can anyone tell me how that can be done.

You are creating a relative link from a link to a portal component, so when someone clicks on mailer.jsp, it creates a link that the PRT assumes is to a component. But mailer.jsp is not a component, and your JSP is hidden inside a component.
You have to do one of the following:
Wrap the second JSP in a portal component, like the first, and create a link to this portal component.
Create a link back to the original component, and then you can redirect or include the second JSP (though here I am not sure how you would get the URL parameters to the included/redirected JSP).
It might be simpler to use a JSP Dynpage, if you are using JSP pages.
