Create link that when clicked downloads a file to a viewer's computer

Hi. I am using Dreamweaver MX on a Mac. I have a Word a doc (python_contents.doc) that I want to automaticaly download to the viewer's computer when he/she clicks a link called "Download Python Table of Contents." Can't figure out how. Any help? Thanks millions.

Most straight links do in fact download the file, then launch in whichever helper application is required to view it.
If you zip the file first, it will download to the end user's hard drive (My Documents, desktop or some other Downloads folder). And the user will need to unzip it.
Or you might choose to use a "Force Download" script in whichever server-side languages your server supports. This one is in PHP.

Newbie: link that, when clicked, send a text to a IP

Hello! I'd like to send a text to a IP (not the website IP) when a link is clicked, without changing anything in the webpage. I think tt's something like a form, but the user won't type anything, just click.
Actually, what I need is that a server recognizes when the link (in a different location) is clicked so it can run some procedures. I know how to make a html code to put in this server with a string that collects everything that is send to the server and check if there is the text used to tell that the link was clicked. So I thought doing it that way. Maybe there's a better method for doing all this. Thank you for your help and any suggestion!

I'm starting an automation project. It uses a hardware named Arduino to make the fisical interface with the switches and stuff to be controlled. This arduino can be connected to a router and can be programmed to recognize caracteres that it's IP/port receives, and do the actions based on that.
So I want to make a user interface in a webpage, using pictures with several links (hashmap), like a picture of your room, and you can click on a lightbulb so this light will turn on (or off).

How do I create a icon that when clicked will open and maximize an image file? I have tried to use the simple image widget with maximize upon tap/click - however I am can only size the image really small and put on the page. I'd prefer to have a graphic that when clicked it simply opens up the image. This is for a very simple question/answer book. The user is suppose to look at a picture and locate something. I want to put an 'Answer' graphic on the image and then the user can click the 'answer' graphic and it will open up the picture with the answer identified.
Is this possible?

Have yiu tried the PopOver widget? You can drop an image into it, maximise the image and the widgets window...But, you cannot get it full screen.
With iBooks Author, you either learn to use what is available within the app, or look online for third party widgets to purchase which suit your project.

I just encountered this problem for the first time and stumbled upon this forum to find a solution. I played around with it a bit and it seems that if you slide your finger from the bottom up, you will come upon that new screen that will allow you to do various functions with your phone (put it in airport mode, lock, etc.), you can select your Airport from this screen and play your music wirelessly from your phone; at least this was my experience. I need advice on how to create links to Word, Powerpoint and PDF files in my Captivate project. How do I also make sure that when my file is published, those links can be accessed by the reader. I am new to this process. Thanks!

Yes. You can place the linked file in your zipped folder. Here is a recommended workflow.
1. Add a button (Smartshape or regular button) to the slide.
2. Assign the Open File or URL action to the button. In the URL field, specify the file name (say, Sample.PPTX) which you want to link to.
3. Click the down arrow button next to the URL field and select New so that the file launches in a new window.
4. Save and publish your project to a folder.
5. Go to the published folder and place the linked Sample.pptx file in the folder.
6. Zip the published folder.
Absolute Path is where you give the full path of the file's location including the folder structure. For example, C:\<UserName>\Documents\My Adobe Captivate Projects\Sample.pptx. If you use this, then you have to maintain the same folder structure in the published folder as well, which is impractical.
Relative Path, in this case, is where you just give the file name and make sure that the file is in the published folder.
Just Google and you will find several examples of absolute and relative paths. You will even see that you can define sub folders if required.

From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

It often forces me to redownload the file in google chrome and then I go to the source folder and right click properties and I have to unblock the file. Only then I'm able to start the exe file.
FYI: I use vista, so that might be the problem by itself...

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

So for example if I imported a psd file into Muse with 5 layers, could i create 5 buttons which, when clicked, each individually took off and added 1 layer?

Why can't I get the "save as" option when I download a file, it automatically saves EVERYTHING to download folder.

When I download a file, I used to get an option to "save as", instead of just save. If I download a file I like to immediately download it into the appropriate folder on my desktop (not just one folder.) Instead I have to download it, go into the downloads folder and move it. I do a lot of downloading for work and this is just an extra step that I find so annoying. Is there a way to change this, or and "add on" feature to get "save as" as an option? I get this option on Internet Explorer, but I do not like using IE :(

P.S. Not sure if this is important, but I am using Windows 8 :(

Is there a way to have a button on an Adobe Acrobat Form that when clicked will open a Windows Folder located with a predefined UNC path? I'm looking for a scripting solution.

This is in Internet Explorer 6 (yes, horrible, I know), but we use a standardized image where I work, with pretty intense GPO's.
Don't know what happens if you right-click the link; but from any other machine (with the same image) the same link will open with all three options "Open", "Save", and "Cancel". These are not freshly imaged machines, so some setting must of been changed along the way to make this happen on this user's computer.
Repaired Acrobat, but this resolved nothing.
Also checked in IE to make sure that Adobe was enabled under the Programs tab.
Also, the option to view a pdf within the browser is not turned on.
Any other ideas?

Because the picture/video viewer you're using is not clever enough to respect the orientation tag embedded in iPhone video and image files so it 'knows' which way up you were holding the phone when you shot the photo or video.
Try a better image/video viewer or computer OS.

You need to look for an app that has a custom keyboard with the features you require, I suggest you find one without CAPSLOCK

Again you need to look at how to manage the device - these settings can be turned off already & you can edit the 'suggestions' too.
Settings > General > Keyboards > turn Auto-Correction Off.
Sadly you cannot disable autocorrect temporarily, so it's all or nothing.
