Create link to page in my iweb-website

how do I create a link to any page in my (iWeb) website, that is not the 1st page?

Yes, my main page for my website is http://web.mac.com/makentosh/
To link to any page within my site, I just navigate to that site and copy the URL
http://web.mac.com/makentosh/iWeb/tipsfromtheiceberg/visual_archive.html
If you are using masked forwarding so that all your pages show up as the same URL, then you need to right click on the page you want to link to and choose Open Frame in New Window. Then, take the URL that appears in the address bar of that new window and use that.

  • Help creating a site-map for my iweb website

    Hello,
I was able to list my site with google, no problem. However, following the instructions below to verify didn't work. #1- text edit has no choice for a simple text file. #2 - my mac will not allow me to save any kind of file except html file ending with html. #3 - I've tried using word and no matter what kind of save I attempt to save the google file name, I keep getting the same message, which is -> Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.
And the site map thing is simply over my head. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks ---- Roy
Here's what I want you to do... your going to register with Google, submit your site for verification, and then make and submit a sitemap for your site. Okay? Here goes...
Go to this page and login or register for a Google account... http://www.google.com/webmasters/
This opens up a lot of tools to see how your site is doing. I have already confirmed that Google has none of your pages in its index using the Site Status Wizard.
Once registered, click on "Webmaster Tools" and then enter your iWeb URL under "Add Site". I want you to type in your iWeb URL like this: http://web.mac.com/jlutz/iWeb/
Click OK. Congratulations, your site is registered with Google. Now onto verifying that it is your site...
Click on "Verify" next to your registered URL. You'll be presented with a choice of verification methods. Choose "Upload an HTML file". Google will give you the filename to use, like "googlef429021c837438ca.html" All you have to do is to create a blank file with TextEdit. Save it to your desktop as a plain text file. Then rename it with the filename that Google gave you (yes you want to use the .html extension in case you are asked). Then just copy this file to your iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder. That's it.
Click Verify...you should get verified immediately. Congratulations.

The error you are seeing (We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.) is something I have noticed on and off with my .Mac sites lately too. It used to work fine, but now sometimes .Mac verifies, sometimes it doesn't. Try both verification methods and see if one works over the other. If you are still having trouble, I know Max (

  • Create links in pages

Is there a way to insert a hyperlink in pages? I don't want people to see the whole large link.
In the desktop version you can just select some text, click the inspector and input a URL - can you do this from the iPad?

Type the URL as you normally would.
Add a space or return to engage it. (It will be underlined.)
Tap the link once. (The link will gray and a Link Dialog box will pop up.)
    Tap the Link Settings button.
Change the Display to whatever text you want to appear.
Tap outside the box and link to save it.

  • Menu component - how to create link to page?

    Hi all,
I have a question about the built-in Menu component. I am trying to use the Menu component to build a navigation menu - this means that the menu items must be links to other pages in my portal. And this is what I have trouble with - I cannot get a menu item to be a link to another page.
A Menu item has a link type and a link; the available link types are <none>, "link", "component" and "URL", but neither of them solve the problem. The url/link that I want to put in is of the type /pls/portal/url/page/mypage i.e. its a relative url to a page (without host:port/dad, etc) so that it could be deployed in the QA or PROD portal. The various link types interpret this relative url as follows:
    - link: gives error "component does not exist". Is there perhaps a way of refering to my page so that it looks like a component?
    - component: this one looks good i.e. the url that shows in the browser status bar seems correct (it prepends the host:port/dad, etc). The problem is that it actually sends the html with all "/" characters replaced by "%2F", which the browser then balks at. So its very close, but not quite. Is there a way to get the real characters (/) instead of "%2F"?
    - URL: This one doesn't do the "%2F" story, but it does not prepend the URL with the host:port/dad, etc so it also does not work. Note that if I add host:port etc to the link of the menu item it works fine, but then I have a problem with deploying this to another portal which is a real showstopper. Or is there another way to not hardcode host:port etc.?
    - <none> behaves the same as component.
    Help please...
    Regards.
    Anton.

    Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for a very interesting read - I have some additional questions:
    - Where do you change the host/port before going to production? Do you edit the "transport set"? This made me think - I'm now going to look for it in metadata - it has to be stored in some table...
BTW our "deployment" consists of essentially copying the complete iasdb (4 schemas) over to the QA/PROD instance! After reading a massive (confusing) doc AND reading all the complaints in the exp/imp forum we also decided its just not worth the pain!
And yes we also have strictly manual procedure for keeping production in sync with dev!
    Cheers.

  • Create Links on your Home page

    Hi,
When you create an new application its possible to create links on your home page.
Via this link you navigate directly to a page in your application.
And via the Page area you can continue adding pages to your initial application.
Is it also possible to create links (add pages) like this for an application created via APEX version 2.1?
    Regards, Robbert

    Hi Robert,
Yes absolutely, you can always edit your application and add things that you forgot to add at the time of creation (like extra pages, links, regions, items etc).
I suggest reading through the 2 Day Developer Guide if you haven't already -
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10498/toc.htm#
specifically a couple of sections about working with links to other pages -

  • Images not showing in IWeb website for Windows generated html

I am generating html via a macro in a Windows only application (GSAK) in a Windows XP virtual environment then publishing this to a page in my IWeb website via an html snippet but some images/bars are missing. I realise the images etc in the html file in my Windows application need to be copied to my Domain file on my MACBook (user/Library/Application Data/ IWeb) but where in that file do I need to save them?
In the Domain folder itself I can't logically understand where it is holding the files for this website whereas in Windows they were all in the one html folder.

I'm sure the Apple Store would resolve it.
But if you like, it would help to please attach a screen shot showing a sample message.  In case you don't know, you would generate a screen shot by holding Shift + Command + "4" and outlining the rectangular area to shoot.  Then press the camera-like icon at the top of the box you use to compose your reply:
    Good luck!

  • Linking Flash Pages

What code do you use to link flash pages in a flash website?
    Anything will help!!

Nate, the first thing to do would be some basic reading on
publishing Flash documents (i.e. "converting from FLA to SWF").
Start with the Live Docs here:
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flash/8/main/00000805.html
This will help you in producing the SWF file that you can
then place in your HTML template using Dreamweaver.
    Good luck!

  • Can I convert my old 35 page IWeb website to IWeb 09?

I currently have a 35 page website that I created in the old IWeb. I want to update to OSX panther and
I Web09. Will there be any issues opening the old website and working with it in 09?
    Thanks for any help.
    John

    John:
There shouldn't but be sure to keep a backup of the 08 domain file before you open it for the first time with iWeb 09.
You mean upgrade to Leopard, right? I'd run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions first followed by a verify of the disk. If repairs are indicated boot into the leopard install disk and run Disk Utility to repair the disk from the Utilities menu in the first window after the language selection window.
Install Leopard and then run the 10.5.6 COMBO updater. You can get it from the Apple Downloads page. I find it safer to download and run the necessary updaters manually.
If you want to keep iWeb 08 available just in case make a copy of the application and name it iWeb 08. Then the iLife 09 installer will update the plain iWeb application and leave that one untouched.
There have been issues with the red site and page icons making it necessary to publish every page each time you make a change to just one page. I've gotten around that by creating a new site for each page of my family site (currently have 79) so that I only have one site (usually consisting of only one page- a photo page) to edit and upload each time. This keeps the domain file size down.
You can link to a another iWeb site in the navbar by creating a blank page with the name of the other site and adding the following code to an HTML snippet on that blank page:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.location.replace('URL TO SITE/PAGE YOU WANT TO REDIRECT TO');
    </script>
This will immediately redirect the visitor to the other site. A return button can be put on the other site's page (I turn off the navbar in those sites which act as individual pages) so it appears like part of one big site.
If you're interested in that approach this is how I split up my original multi site domain file. You would first create a new site and drag page 1 to it. Then create a new site and drag page 2 to it. Again keep a backup of your original domain file.
I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • Create a photo page and have the photo's link to other internal pages

really basic quesiton, sorry but I can't do this for some reason. I created a photo page that is going to be a menu page to link to some internal pages. for some reason the Enable as a Hyperlink is greyed out and I can't click on it to make the image a hyperlink.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

What you need to do is place a shape over the top of the image, then using Inspector, Graphic Tab give it an Opacity of 1% then you can make the shape a hyperlink.
The imageholders on the photo page cannot be used as hyperlinks.
Alos you must giv ethe shape an opacity of at least 1%, if you try 0% it will not work.

  • How can I create links to other pages in iBooks that will function in PDF?

    Hi,
I know some people have asked previously how to create links to other pages of their book within iBooks. I having an issue with this myself that I haven't been able to resolve. I am able to create the links, and they seem to function within the program, however, once I export the document as a PDF file (the format in which I need to have this ebook!), the links seem to be non-functional. Does anybody have a fix for this?
Thank you so much for any suggestions you may have!! I really need to figure this out for my client.
    Regards,
    Meggyn

Exporting as a PDF does alter/lose/remove certain functions. Adobe Acrobat has its own page navigation system.
A lot of the hidden engine of iBooks Author is basically very similar to building a website! so links and books marks are an "internal" function.
IF you  have Acrobat and not just the Adobe Reader, you can make links.  I have never needed to try, but  I see a working link related index  in the many software manuals  I have.

  • How do I create an email list sign up form for my iWeb website?

Well that's the question - how do I create an email list sign up form for my iWeb website?
Could someone tell me what's the simplest way using iWeb to create an interactive option
for users to enter their email address and the info be forwarded to me so I can add to an
    email list?
It would be great if, since I'm using a Mac computer & iWeb, there was a way to have the
submitted emails automatically added to a group in my Mac Addressbook.
I got this MacBook Pro in Sept 2010 so I believe that's iWeb '08 I'm using.
Anyway I'm thinking there should be a way to do this with some system involving an HTMK
    Widget and an email account.
By the way this is for hosting through a 'real server', not MobileMe (which I plan to get later
    when I can afford it).
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Mark

Website forms require some code in a snippet and a formmail.php script on the server to process the form and send the info to the required email address. You can do all this when you switch to a "real" server.
In the meantime you can use a form  or marketing service or, better still, an application like MailShoot which generates the form, handles the database and sends out the bulk emails.

  • Create a login page that does not link to database

    Hi,
I am really new to muse and would like to seek some help....sorry if any similar questions have been asked.
I am making a website interface for my assignment, and i need to create a login page,
how can i make a text box for entering the login ID and the password? and how can i add a login button?
By the way, this does not have to link to a database, it is just  a template........so the solution using codes may not help i guess

    Hi,
check this thread Re: Can I create a login/password protection in Muse for a HTML5 page or two?

  • Cannot create new pages/sites in iWeb '08

I know this has been brought up so many times before. I read ALL of the posts.
I am unable to create any new pages or sites in iWeb'08. The plus sign is greyed out and command-N does nothing.
    Here's what I've done:
Deleted all files associated with iWeb and re-installed from the original DVD.
Tried using the iWeb icon in iPhoto and iMovie (total of 20 times each). Nothing happens. The photos do not show up in iPhoto and I still can't do anything.
Can anyone please suggest something else to try. I have an existing website that I prefer to use iWeb for, but I cannot update it until I can use iWeb.
I can't believe Apple would release something this bad.

    Email me at
    [email protected]
    and I'll send you a domain.sites2 file.
When you get it, quit iWeb, put it into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and double click it to see if iWeb will launch and let you build a site.

  • Open a link to a new page of the own website in a new window

    hi there
i am working since a few weeks with iWeb and am in the process of making 3 websites. i have absolutely no idea of html and java script, and this is the main reason i use iWeb. i found a lot information in this forum - you guys are great. but still some questions left, so i will post a few questions (as seperate topics) now. the first one:
iWeb allows a link to another website to open in a new window. i would like to do the same thing, but to another page in my own website. is this possible without any html commands? and if yes, how?
example: on my site http://www.khanomTOPproperty.com i have a link in the footer "this site is... click HERE to find out". this should open in a new window.
    thanks and cheers
    george

    dear roddy
wow, it is as simple as that. i love this forum - instead of thinking another many hours how to do it just ask a question...
it would be nice if apple would mention these possibilities in the iWeb manual. would make things much easier. maybe they could take the major questions out of this forum and post the answers in the next update of the iWeb manual. let's dream a little bit.
    thanks again and warm regards
    george
