Create Local Account

I bought a used Windows 8 laptop and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 Update 1. Two questions:
-When I upgraded to 8.1 it asked me for my Microsoft account info, which I entered, not realizing this created my user as a network account. I then tried to change this to a Local Account, but this did not create the folders for my user in C:\Users. I then
created a new Local Account, but that did not create the folders for that user in C:\Users either. How do I create my Local User account with folders in C:\Users as in Windows 7?
-The previous owner's Local Account folder remains in C:\Users remains, with it's sub-folders. I can't seem to delete it, or rename it to my new Local User folder. I get a message saying files in use, which suggests it's linked to one of the new Local User
accounts, although I'm not certain of that.
I hate to do a complete reinstall of the OS, and I'm not even sure if I could if I wanted to, as the system has a Lenovo OEM key which I don't have ....

Hi,
Normally speaking, Windows would create a new User Profile at C:\Users after you create a new user account. There is no difference with Windows 7. You may encounter some problem during create new Local Account.
How did you create new local account? Is there any error message when your creating new loacal account?
Please follow the steps in the contents of the link below to create new account:

If there is any error, please feel free let us know.

  • Create local account with no write access on mass computers?

I'm running a bunch of iMacs (10.6.8 & 10.8.2) on a network managed by an Xserve (10.6.8) at a small university.  We recently purchased several Adobe suites and they apparently do not work when logged in with a  network account.  So, for at least a short term work-around, how do I easily create a local account on all the computers that does not have write priviledges to the local drives (or at least limited write--there my need to be some system folders that Adobe needs to write to locally, but not sure yet)?  I can use a network drive for saving projects (even though Adobe told me that wouldn't work...), I just don't want students to be able to manage, add/remove programs, or save their projects locally.

In our country we dont have iTune Store if i create iTunes accounts in another country (example UK) can i use my local bank credit card??

No, you need to be in a country and have a valid billing address in that country to be able to use a country's store. If there isn't an iTunes store in your country then unfortunately you won't be able to buy any content from iTunes.

  • How do i create a local account in mac mail?

I have lost the account "On My Mac" How do I get it back or create a new local account

Thank you for your answer but unfortunately I did not ask the question or state the problem correctly. I am able create a new mailbox on my mac but I would like to get this to show up in My Contacts as a Local Account.
Maybe I should ask th question another way by stating that I wish to create a group of contacts locally on my mac from the contacts that are on iCloud. Is this possible?

  • Delete local accounts created when logging into Active Directory?

When a user logs into their Mac using their Active Directory credentials, a new local user folder is created that corresponds to their login name. But a new account doesn't show up in the System Preferences Accounts. So how do I go about deleting this local account? Can I simply delete their Users folder?
    Thanks.

AD does this with Windows, too. This is because the AD account is not the same as the local account. If you have a user with the username joeuser, and he has a local account named joeuser, he'll have a home directory in that name. If he logs into and AD system with the domain name ADDomain, there will then be an account with a name something like joeuser.ADDOMAIN, which, by definition, is not the same as the account joeuser. On a Windows box, at the same time as the joeuser.ADDOMAIN account is created the joeuser account will have its name changed; if the box's name is joe's_mac, the joeuser account will become joeuser.JOE'S_MAC. This kind of thing will apply only to users who have both local and domain accounts. Users who have only local accounts, such as jilluser, will not have their account name changed. Users who have only domain accounts, such as bobdomain, will not have their account name changed. Users will not notice any difference in the way they log in; they will log into their domain account, and see just what that account has access to, or will log into their local account, and see just what that local account has acces too, depending only on how they set the login box. They will never have to enter joeuser.ADDOMAIN, just joeuser... and the domain name in the proper place.
If you delete the domain account, a new one will be automatically generated as soon as the user logs back in using a domain account. Any data stored in that account will be deleted when you delete the account.

  • Windows 8 Sysprep - Can't skip local account creation and autologon fails, wrong admin password.

Using Windows 8 x64 Enterprise, Sysprep pauses to ask me to create a local user, which I don't want.
If I enable SkipSystemOOBE and SkipUserOOBE in OOBE under Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup sysprep (in oobe mode) will skip user creation and autologon works.  But it only works correctly once.  If I run sysprep again, when it tries to autologon
it will say that I have the wrong password for the local account.  After I type in the password manually it works.  If I use the same password for the local administrator account as for the autologon account, it looks to have the encrypted password
twice with an equal sign after it.
    What I need to know:
How to skip local user account creation (we run on a domain but I have it connect through scripts later)
How to fix the autologon issue
Do I need the local administrator account enabled for this to work?

The user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome is suppressed if a user or a group is added to a local security group. Add a user or a group to a local security group by doing one of the following:
    Create a local user.
Add a domain user to a local security group with the Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup | UserAccounts unattended installation setting.
To suppress the user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome, without creating a local user, use one of the following workarounds:
    Workaround 1
If the computer is already joined to a domain, use the following XML example to add the Domain Users security group to the Local Users security group.
    <DomainAccounts>
     <DomainAccountList wcm:action="add">
      <DomainAccount wcm:action="add">
      <Group>Users</Group>
      <Name>Domain Users</Name>
      </DomainAccount>
      <Domain>FabrikamDomain</Domain>
      </DomainAccountList>
    </DomainAccounts>
Because joining a domain automatically adds the Domain Users security group to the Local Users security group, the DomainAccounts command does not affect the membership of the Local Users group. However, using this XML example to join a domain will also suppress
the user accounts-creation page in Windows Welcome.
    Workaround 2
Use the Sysprep/Quit command to set the following registry value to 1:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE\UnattendCreatedUser

  • How can I install WebOfTrust for a local account and save the profile so that it transfers to domain accounts that log on to that specific computer?

We are creating images through ghost server to clone onto several laptops and one of the features we need to have configured is the Web of Trust extension in Firefox. I have configured a local account on the machine and set up Web of Trust and then copied the profile image in regedit to the default profile image and saved this. WOT works for local accounts but whenever I try domain accounts, Web of Trust needs to be disabled and re-enabled.

  • How do I create Local Network Home Folders for Users from an Active Directory binding?

My situation is this... I run an iMac lab at my school.  I have a server set up to manage the network user accounts in the lab.  Currently, I can sucessfully create Local Network Users and log in to them from any of the iMacs.  My school has an Active Directory set up for all the students on campus.  What I'd like to be able to do is configure the server to allow the students to use their user names and passwords from their school accounts to log in to the iMacs and have it automatically build a network user folder on the server for them to use during the lab.
So far, I have been able to configure access for the Active Directory accounts to use the services on the server, mainly File Sharing, but I cannot figure out how to allow them to log into a user account on the client's machines using their same Active Directory credentials.  I have even attempted to allow the user accounts to create mobile accounts, but that's not working out either.  Entering indivual network user accounts into the server for every student every semester will be a nightmare.  I'm sure there's a way to do it automatically using the exisitng Active Directory structure.
The live server is running 10.8.5 Server still, but I've also got a clone running OS X Server in case it matters.  Please help!

ok reinstalled everything dns seems to be working have done sudo changeip -checkhostname and it says that both names match but then i started open directory and can't seem to get Kerberos started, i've tried changing it to stand alone then back again but it does nothing. I'm wondering why this would happen? i've tried adding a kerberos record but it doesn't do it just does nothing so i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I wondered if it might be a problem with the two network cards and dns as on ethernet one it is getting the dns name xserve.xxxx.ac.uk (which matches what the college server wants to call us) but on ethernet 2 gets xserve-2.local because it tells me that it already exists on ethernet one and renames it to this. I need to set up NAT so have ethernet coming in on port one and out again on port two. I wonder if my dns is backwards as its got the 192. address the NAT uses but its linked to the ethernet port one dns maybe this is the problem. would this cause open directory not to start kerberos?

  • Create user accounts on multiple networked computers

I have a computer lab of 21 identical systems:  20 student computers and 1 instructor computer.  All are running Win 7 (32 bit).  They are connected via a simple Windows network.  I have 50 users, and I was wondering if I could simultaneously
create local standard user accounts for each of them on all of my computers.  I know this is possible if I am running Windows Server, but I am not.  Will I be able to accomplish this using Windows 7 (Ultimate)?  Doing this one-by-one will be
quite tedious, and probably not feasible given the allocated resources).  I am a novice, so perhaps I have omitted some key information.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error while creating local order in MAM

    Hi ,
I am trying to create local order in MAM2.5, but in the monitor it is giving the error , Business Area required. This field is a mandatory field in R/3, but in client it doesn't specifically ask for it. It can pick it from Equipment or Functional Location in which the order is created. But i am not sure about this.
I want to know , from where exactly this Business Area field is picked in client,
    Equipment or Functional Location.
To be more precise can anyone tell me from which class on the client side it picks the value.
    Regards
    Priya Ghosh

    Hi Priya,
It means backend is customized in the way that Business area is manadatory instead if picking the default.
    Two solutions:
    1. create order with tech. object, business area will be copied from object
    2. change backend customizing:
spro, Financial Accounting/Business Area/Enable Business Area Balance Sheet
        your company must be DEACTIVATED!
To find your company: create any order for your workcenter and look through the pages to find which company (and business area) was enetered.
This is not MAM specific problem but PM/CS issue. You will have the same error returned if try to create similar order directly on the backend.
    Cheers,
    Larissa Limarova

  • Strange behaviour on OD Master (unwanted creation of local account)

    Hi all,
we use an Apple XServe running Mac OS X Leopard Server 10.5.1 as our main file server machine (AFP, SMB/CIFS, OpenDirectory Master, iChat, Webserver, SVN) at our institute. All of our network users' accounts are managed within the LDAP directory of this server.
We have got two additional local accounts (for administrative purpose only) on our server.
Two of our OD users are using synchronized mobile home directories. Each time they connect their MacBooks to the network, their home directories get synchronized between MacBook and XServe.
This is, in generally, running quite fine.
One of these two mobile synchronized users from time to time (some days) encounters a strange problem since we upgraded our XServe from Tiger to Leopard. When it happens, he suddenly isn't able to login to any service running on the XServe (SSH, iChat, AFP).
Looking into the server's logs we encountered strange messages regarding the account of the affected user ("xxxxx"):
    | system.log.5.bz2:Dec 15 20:24:35 whitehouse
    |/System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[83 154]:
    | -xaImportUser: Imported "xxxxx" with home "/Volumes/Holmes/Users/xxxxx" into
    | DSLocal because account was found in directory services.
    | system.log.5.bz2:Dec 15 22:47:15 whitehouse
    | /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[831 54]:
    | -xaRemoveInactiveExternalAccounts: removing "xxxxx" with home
    | "/Volumes/Holmes/Users/xxxxx" from DSLocal because account is not active.
    | system.log.5.bz2:Dec 15 22:47:18 whitehouse com.apple.loginwindow[83147]:
    | -xaImportUser: Imported "xxxxx" with home "/Volumes/Holmes/Users/xxxxx" into
    | DSLocal because account was found in directory services.
    | system.log.5.bz2:Dec 15 22:47:18 whitehouse com.apple.loginwindow[83147]:
    | -xaRemoveInactiveExternalAccounts: removing "xxxxx" with home
    | "/Volumes/Holmes/Users/xxxxx" from DSLocal because account is not active.
    | system.log.5.bz2:Dec 15 22:51:24 whitehouse
    | /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient.app/Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[221 ]:
    | -xaImportUser: Imported "xxxxx" with home "/Volumes/Holmes/Users/xxxxx" into
    | DSLocal because account was previously found in directory services.
When looking at "/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/", we found out that the user has got a local account (there is a "xxxxx.plist" within this directory), but who created it (ManagedClient.app?) and why?
Of course, there aren't any local accounts for our other OD users (but only for our two local administrative accounts).
Looking into "xxxxx.plist" shows that the account is of the type "LocalCachedUser".
So it seems as following: As soon as this "xxxxx.plist" is created, user "xxxxx" cannot login to any service anymore.
The question is: Why is it created? Why only for this user? We have at least one other user who uses a synchronized home directory. But for him this hasn't happpened, yet.
I have looked into the affected account's settings regarding synchronized home directories using Workgroup Manager (and also "ldapsearch" at the command line). I don't see any different settings between the affected account "xxxxx" and the other ones.
Does anybody know why "xxxxx" gets a local cached account on the server from time to time? Shouldn't this type of account be created on a "third" machine (e.g. at on of our MacMinis) when user "xxxxx" logs in on it?
I would be very glad if someone could point us into the right direction. Thank you very much in advance!
    Best regards,
    Steffen

    Hi,
today the user whose account has been affected came back from Christmas holidays. Simply deleting the file "/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/xxxxx.plist" on the server fixed the problem.
He is now able to login via SSH, iChat, and so on, again.
So it is very obvious that the existence of the local cached Account (represented by "xxxxx.plist" within "/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/") was the reason for denying the authentication to the services.
Now one question is left: Why was it created?
    Any ideas are welcome!
    Best regards,
    Steffen

The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.

  • Help needed to log into an Open Directory account which has the same username as the local account

    Hello,
I have successfully setup a Mac OS X Lion Server and it is an Open Directory Master. On the server Ihave created an account with the name 'Connor'. I have numerous Macs (allrunning OS X 10.7 Lion) connected to this server but on one of the Macs thereis a local account with the name 'Connor' too (the local and networked accountshave different passwords). I want to log into the Open Directory account onthat mac. So, I have done an authenticated bind to the server, but when I go tolog in the password box shakes. I think the computer thinks I am trying to loginto the local account and not the Open Directory account. On Windows, I canlog into either the local accounts or the networked accounts by typing\LOCAL-COMPUTER-NAME\Connor. So, I was wondering if there was a similar commandto do this on Mac.
I don't think I haveworded this very well, so if someone doesn't understand please ask me somequestion about the problem and I will try and explain it better.
    Any help would be greatlyappreciated,
    Connor

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have used directory utility to do an authenticated bind to my server. I also have no problem logging into other accounts in the Open Directory. But, I just can't log into the account which has the same name both in the Open Directory and locally.
Was there something I missed in Directory Utility? Could you please help me if this is so.
    Thanks for replying so quickly
