Create MP3s from Quicktime Video

I have a Quicktime video of a friend's band and want to strip out the audio and create an MP3 of each song. What's the easiest way to do this?
I've got Quicktime 7 and Final Cut Express installed.
Thanks in advance,
T. Wise

QuickTime "Pro" can be used to "extract" the audio track (if it isn't in MPEG 1 or 2 format).
This extracted track can be dragged into your iTunes Library (or a playlist).
Use your iTunes preferences to "convert" this new audio only .mov to .mp3 format.

  • Sound changes when moving mp3 from quicktime to itunes

When I move a mp3 from quicktime to itunes the sound changes. itunes makes it sound a little worse from the original mix. I dont think its the equalizer becuase i tried fooling around with that and tuning it off for a better result.
So the mp3 sounds perfect in quicktime but terrible in itunes whats my problem?

I figured out that if i bring it into itunes as mp4 instead of mp3 it sounds alright.
So you are not moving the MP3 from QT to iTunes as you wrote in your first post. You are converting from AAC to MP3.
i tried to burn it and i think it automatically converts it back to mp3 for the burn
    No.
If you have audio CD selected in iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning, it will convert them to an audio CD.
It willnot convert any other time unless you tell it to convert.
is there a way to burn it while maintaining the mp4 quality??
Select Audio CD or Data CD and it will burn an audio file or the MP4 file.

  • How to create screenshot from iMovie video

in imovie 10.0.2, how do you create (or save) a screenshot from a video clip?

Looks like I may have found a solution.
As mentioned above I've copied the "iMovie Events" folder to the place iMovie expects it to be at. And now I've selected: File > Update Projects and Events
It has recognized that there were a bunch of events that it needed to "process" and has started reading them all.
It looks like all the events are back, I've not done extensive checking yet, but so far it looks very promising.

  • Create MP3 from Internet radio?

    Hello All,
Is it possible to record audio from the internet (Like BBC iPlayer) to create mp3's of programmes and concerts?
I can't seem to find a way of doing it and wondered if anyone knew how.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Install SoundFlower, make it the Macs' default output in the Sound prefpanel, make it the Input in Logic. Now you can play anything (iTunes, internetaudio) and Logic can record it: In Logic, hit record, switch to your internetbrowser and start whatever playback you want to record.
Just did this yesterday, works fine.

  • Create .img from QuickTime?

I have created .img files from iDVD. I have some big QuickTime dv files. Can I create .img files from them? If so, how?

Can I create .img files from them?
Not through QuickTime. The DIsk Utility can create them, but it can't convert data to the format needed for DVD playback. A DVD authoring application such as iDVD is needed to create files of that type and content.

  • How do I create clips from my video.

I have a long video that I want to break up into smaller clips.  I'm a noob and could use a little help.

    so?
the more in detail you describe your problem, the better the answer ...
you told us, you want to 'break up' a clip in smaller segments ...
    • 'mark' (click and hold mouse button) the part in the Event window
    • drag to Project
that's what the videos and advices tell you - so, what part of this advice doesn't work for you?

  • Anyway to create an MP3 from a MPEG-4 Video file already in my Itunes?

    Hi,
I am a Windows user and have Itunes ver 8.
I have a video in my ITunes library and want to convert it to MP3 to get the audio only. Is there a way to do that? I have highlighted the song in Itunes
and went to Advanced where I have created an mp3 version from songs I have in my Itunes library, but when I chose Create MP3 version that choice is not highlighted. I can use Advanced -> Creat an IPod or Iphone version but am advised that the video is already in the correct format. If I use File->Show in Windows Explorer it is listed there as a MPEG-4 Video file in properties.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mickpick

MPEG Streamclip might be able to extract the audio file. I'm not sure, but it's free so there's no penalty for giving it a try.

  • Will the latest version of Quicktime Pro(for Vista) create a Lime Lapse from a .Mov file (from a video camera)

Will Quicktime Pro for Windows convert a .MOV file to a time lapse?
I have a six hour tripcoming up next weekend, and want turn a full length bullet cam video(native .MOV) of it into a time lapse to post.  I have found tons of info saying QuicktimePro will go from stills to time lapse, but only one reference to converting an existing 1080P .mov file into one.
Any and all help and or direction  will be greatly appreciated!

QuickTime Player Pro can open image sequences and export to an image sequence. This will create a series of still image files, sequentially named to a folder you create.
Open the video and choose Export from the File menu. In the next dialog window choose "Movie to Image Sequence" and then click the "Options" button. Here you set the "frame per second" and the file format (JPEG, PNG, etc.) and other options (like target file size or compression).
Set the FPS to one and one image file per second of video will be extracted and compressed. If your source was 30 fps then the first frame of the first second of the file will be saved. Set the fps to two and the first and fifteenth frame will be captured.
    Some words of cation:
Be sure to create a new folder prior to the export. You don't want hundreds (or thousands) of image files cluttering your desktop.
Edit the source file prior to export to get a "long" shot of the action. Scene breaks will look awkward when they are played at high speed.
Don't make a 1080 file export to image sequence. If your source is 1080 use the View menu to change it to "Half Size". These half size image files will help keep the file size down and help playback on older machines.
Now that you have your folder of images choose "import Image Sequence" from the file menu and set your fps rate back to the same as your source file.
You'll note that file size of your exported/imported project will probably be larger than your source file (and maybe too big to share on the Web). Export it again "Movie to QuickTime Movie" and choose H.264 video codec and set an "average" data rate. This should crunch the file five times smaller.

    Abdur,
In the sheet :: table :: cell that is going to receive the data, type an equals sign, then click on the cell that the data will come from and press Return.
This will require that you navigate to the origin cell by choosing the proper sheet.

  • Authoring: Links from and to QuickTime video?

(Sorry for the long post, trying to explain in detail what I’m looking for ...)
Here is something I would like to do - maybe you guys can tell me if this is possible using QuickTime (I will not be doing this myself, but I need to know if QuickTime is the way to go).
    1) Embed several videos/audio files using the QuickTime plug-in in an HTML page, with the usual playback controls.
    2) Place links or form elements (buttons) in the page to those videos, allowing (via JavaScript/DOM) to
    a) play, pause and jump to a specific (SMPTE) position in a QuickTime video.
    b) loop a section of the video (by giving two positions and a loop command)
    c) change audio volume.
    3) Have links from those videos to the page/DOM - i.e., when once video is running, JavaScript events should be sent to the page to hide/load/update content; either automatically or user-driven (by clicking on the embedded video at a certain time - if possible, with hotspots so multiple options can be triggered; similar to a DVD menu).
I’d like to do the same with audio. So I am basically looking for a mechanism to link to and from real-time content.
    Is this possible?
What authoring/editing tools would be required?
And I have another question regarding workflow, because this will not be a one-man show.
The scenario for producing this stuff (e-learning) will/should be something like this:
    - Person A records video and audio, does a little post production, delivers media/files (DV, MP3).
    - Person B batch-converts the videos to MOV format (using whatever tool), but doesn’t do any creative work.
    - Person C with some HTML/JavaScript knowledge and a stopwatch builds the page, embeds the OV file(s) and sets the cues that will jump to certain positions. HTML pages and MOV files are uploaded to a plain-vanilla HTTP server.
Is this a realistic scenario? Is it possible to "remote-control" QuickTime movies without having to fiddle with authoring tools once the actual video is finished?
I would appreciate your comments. Also, if the above is possible, I’d be grateful for links to showcase sites.
    Thank you.

Glad I could be of any hepl.
I found a way to put together the video and audio, I don't know if it's the smartest, but it works:
    - change the .ogg in mp3 (with your audio editing programme of your choice, including D-Vision)
    - in QuickTime Pro open the avi and the mp3; select the whole mp3 file; copy it.
    - go to the avi file in QuickTime and choose "Edit > add to movie".
    - save the resulting movie as your format of choice.
If you need a DivX file, you can save in QuickTime as mov, then use Toast 7 to build a DivX.
I know, long and twisted way... If you find a smarter one, let me know.

    How?
Please detail ALL you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting?   Need this info to avoid the been there done that scenarios.
it's the only copy of this video.
Where did you get the video from?
From the pic I noticed that the folder is 841.9mb.  What's inside?  Or what happens when you click on it?

  • How do I create a still photo from a video in the new iMovie?

How do I creat a still photo from a video in the new iMovie?

I'll assume you want to create a still to use outside FCPX, not a still frame within FCPX.  It's kinda hidden in the "share."  Go File/Share/Add Destination.  You want "Save Current Frame."  After you've created that destination, it'll be there for you in the future under Share.

  • Creating a time lapse from a video

Is there a way in iMovie 09 to discard frames in order to create a time lapse from a video that has already been shot? I realize that the normal way to create a time lapse is to assemble a group of stills into a video. What I'm looking for is sort of the other way around. If this is not possible in iMovie, does anyone know of other software that can do this?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Yes. For example, you can set the speed to 800%.

  • Can we create a Simulation tutorial steps from a Video in HTML5

    Hi Everyone,
I want to create a tutorial something like a simulation by using the video. And the big thing is that it has to be in html5 format. I have one video in MP4 format from which I have to create the tutorial. The video is just a screen recording of some dashboard and the client wants to make it like a tour tutorial by giving them options to choose help and other features. the output needed by the client should be in exe format. When the person will click on the exe icon, the first welcome screen will appear. In that screen, there will  be options to choose, eg - "Press F1 to take help", Press "A" to show notes of that particular screen, etc.
Its like a full control on the video in which the user will get interativity and learning of the dashboard. Lets say, we are planning to provide a highlight feature in simulation. In video, the user will see the highlight feature on some tab. And on clicking that tab, that will take him to the next screen of the dasboard.
I am curious to do this thing but dont have the expertise to do. Can anybody help me out in this please.
    Regards

    Hi
You cannot use an exe file inside a html5 page, (or any other) on the web as the file must be downloaded for the user to install as a program.
There are a number of possible solutions, and they all involve using css3 and/or JavaScript, (canvas, css animations, create a web-app using html5/css/javascript and server side code).
