Create network - no option for WPA

New Mac mini using built in airport.
Network prefs only lists 40-bit WEP or 128-bit WEP.

Internet Sharing only supports clear or WEP connections.
If you want to create a WPA or WPA2 network you must use an external Wi-Fi router such as an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station.

  • "create network" - WEP only, no WPA option

    Hi,
I am trying to share my MP's internet access via ethernet to a network created by the internal airport card. In the process, I am trying to setup the airport network via the "create network" pulldown option. As, I like to use a WPA encrypted network, I was astonished to realise, that the only options were unprotected and 40b/128b WEP. Am I missing something? As far, I know, all the base stations are able to create, and airport cards are able to access, a WPA network. Why doesn't it seem possible to create WPA from the MP's internal card?
Any tips or clear yes/ no answers are appreciated.

Internet sharing via your aiport card only supports WEP. WPA is not yet implemented.

Steps to get SELECT-OPTIONS in module pool programs.
1.Start one dialog program with SAPMZ_001.
Place the below code in the TOP include of the dialog program.
    TABLES marc.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 3200 AS SUBSCREEN.
    SELECT-OPTIONS: werks FOR marc-werks.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 3200.
    2 .Create one screen 3000.
Go to Layout of the screen and Define subscreen area on the screen and Name it as l_subscreen.
Place the below code in the Flow logic of the screen.
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
      CALL SUBSCREEN l_subscreen INCLUDING 'SAPMZ_001' '3200'.
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
      CALL SUBSCREEN l_subscreen.
    Activate all.
Create Transaction code for the dialog program .
Execute the transaction code. You will see the select-option for werks how we see on Selection-screen.

  • How to remove 'Create new employee' option for a scenario in org modelling?

    Hi Luke,
We want to remove 'create new employee' option that appears under 'actions' in details panel for a position in scenario (for org chart).
I checked in linkconfiguration folder for position, but it doesn't show this option to be disabled. I also checked detailspresentationconfiguration folder but no luck. I am assuming, it must be pretty different to achieve this for a scenario object.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
I'm not entirely sure this can be changed. It doesn't appear to be controlled through configuration or XSL. My guess is it is hard-coded.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • How to create select-options for 3 fields out of 5 by FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT

    Hi Experts,
I am using the Function Modules FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT and FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG to create the select-options dynamically on the selection screen.
My problem is that I am passing a field list of 10 fields in the FIELDS_TAB of the function.
Now it creates the select-options for all 10 fields. I want to create select-options for only 5 fields initially and let the user select out of the remaining 5 fields to create the select-options.
    How to achieve this.?
I tried by passing the 5 fields in FIELDS_NOT_SELECTED table but they get hidden and once hidden I am not able to get them back in my field list.
    Please help me out.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Wireless Networking - unable to select an encryption type for WPA/WPA2

I recently upgraded to 10.5.3 and didn't notice until now that Network preferences no longer provides an option for specifying the encryption method (TKIP or AES-CMP) for a new wireless network? I don't recall ever having had this issue before. Is this new to 10.5.3 or has this been a recognized problem prior to 10.5.3? I can only select from WPA Personal or Enterprise, WPA2 Personal or Enterprise (ignoring the WEP options here).
Is there another area of the OS that I can modify to change the encryption type?
    This is weird...

While I was able to get WEP to work, it would only switch to WEP for both bands, and I wasn't too excited about this option. So to max out security, what I did was keep my dual band Airport Extreme running on WPA2 (5GHz N-only for all my Mac equipment; a wireless G for ipod touch). I then bought a linksys/cisco WRT54G2 for about $40 new from Amazon, and connected it with ethernet to the Airport Extreme base. Took a little fiddling to get it to behave as a bridge (can describe for you how I did this if you go down this route). But most importantly, maxed out security for WEP on this device by not broadcasting the SSID (don't on my other network either), having a very obscure SSID name (think strong password), set an equally obscure random password of all character types, setup up MAC filter so it could only be connected to my Pronto (and one of my notebooks for configuration). Also run it on a different 2.4ghz channel than the Airport Extreme to minimize conflict. Copied the info over to the Pronto config program (I use bootcamp to do this on my notebook), and everything works great. I do wish Apple gave us complete control over both bands (like the level of config I've done here), but the solution here was still pretty clean. My understanding is that Philips is planning to add WPA/WPA2 to Pronto capability by year-end (the connect/re-connect times are slower and they didn't want their products taking a performance hit, but I'd happily wait an extra second or two after picking up the remote to not expose my network via WEP). Hope that helps, but probably not what you wanted to hear. I found it a fairly quick and inexpensive workaround for now.

  • Applescript for keeping your self created network

So I had this issue that everytime I start up my wired mac I had to create a new network for using my Mac,with Airport Extreme-card, as base-station for wireless connection with my iPhone ,so I have wireless internetconnection on my iPhone. The created network from a previous session wasn't remembered . But I found out that the self created network is remembered in System Preferences/Sharing/Internet Sharing/ Airport options.
I made an applescript to put as an Automator- Application in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items.
And now when I start my Mac the network I created the last session is there again, and active.

Hey Bug, I just refound what a lot of people have forgot about or didn't even knew was out there. But all (alteast most) of the top AV venders have a FREE Rescue CD that you can download and use.
Here is a description of them and a small review of the top 13. I did see that these tests were done in late 2008. But they are still out there with newer CD's. Top 13 Rescue CD's
They basically a bootable CD that runs there AV software in a Linux Environment. They even update to the latest version when connected to the ethernet.
You can burn the ISO's to a CD or even better use SARDU Here is a list of AV's SARDU can use. To make these AV's listed boot from a USB device. Basically meaning you can have a Ultimate Bootable AV USB stick having multiple AV software on it (add other tools if you figure it out, along with having a Linux LiveCD too). If you click on the antivirus tab it shows you the AV available to be put on the USB. Click the link and you can download the latest ISO image.
Just thought I would share this info. A lot of us have forgot about these wonder tools.
Edit Note:fixed the 13 AV's link and changed the AV List picture to a link...

Which one can I use properly to monitor all the wireless Devices in my hous

Actually, none of the options will do what you are looking for it to do. That is because, this application only monitors the traffic from the device it is hosted on. That would also mean that you would have to run a copy on each computer that will access the Internet on your network; note their individual usages, and then, combine them to get an idea of the total usage.
However, if you are only interested in the amount of Wi-Fi traffic that only your computer is seeing, then the "AirPort Network Card" option would be the correct choice.

Ah.. then I suspect you just need to go to Logic's prefs/Audio and check CoreAudio...
    It has been unchecked somehow...
Also.. as an aside.. Be careful not to create such large subject names in future when posting here.. They can cause issues with replying to posts in such threads.. due to a bug in the forum software.. so please keep them short and to the point...

  • Problem creating Network ACL for a ROLE in Oracle 11gR2

According to Oracle Documentation when you create a new Network ACL you can add privileges to a user or role.  I need to create a new ACL for the UTL_SMTP package for a specific role, but when I granted it the users who have that role are still getting the "ORA-24247: network access denied by access control list (ACL)" error when they try to send an email.  If I grant the ACL privilege to the same users directly it works fine.  Is there any step I'm missing?  This is the test I have made on my Solaris 10 - Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.3) Standard Edition server:

I'm aware that role privileges doesn't apply inside procedures, functions or packages by default, but this is an anonymous block so it should use the active roles for the user.  I also tried adding a "dbms_session.set_role('TESTACL_ROLE');" at the beggining of the anonymous PL/SQL block but I got the same access error.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give to me on this question, it would be very hard to grant the ACL to all the individual users as they are more than 1000, and we create more regularly.

Thanks for your quick reply... I don't have a problem creating the basic ACL with the privileges granted for a user.  The problem appears when I try to create an ACL with privileges for a ROLE.  You can see here http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_networkacl_adm.htm#BABIGEGG than the official Oracle documentation states that you can assign the ACL principal to be a user or role:
    Parameter
    Description
    acl
Name of the ACL. Relative path will be relative to "/sys/acls".
    description
    Description attribute in the ACL
    principal
Principal (database user or role) to whom the privilege is granted or denied. Case sensitive.
My issue is that when I try to create the ACL for a role it doesn't work.
Have you ever created an ACL for a role? if so please send me an example or let me know which step I might be missing.  Cheers.

  • Creating Network homes for Users in AD

I am trying to create some Network Homes to use for our Macs on campus. I have created the share and everything, but when I go to "Create Home Now" inside of Workgroup Manager it always gives me an error. The error is very generic so I am not sure what it means. All of our Users are stored in AD and OD just authenticates through AD. Is this a problem? Can you not create network homes for AD users?

Here is the error I get in Console when I try:

  • I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud

I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud option in Acrobat. Kindly help me to sortout this problems?

So I tried generating the same PDFs on two other computers that have Acrobat 9 Pro.  Results were reproduced.  The verdict is:
    - complex PDF files (that is, containing cross-references, tables of contents, and bookmarks) generated by Acrobat 9.x Pro are roughly 2-5x larger than the identical file generated with Acrobat 8.x Pro.
    - different PDF conversion settings make a negligable difference (less than 10% rather than 70-80%).
    - using the "Reduce File Size" or "Optimize PDF" option cuts the file size roughly in half, almost always resulting in a "image downsampling mask" warning message, which requires acknowledgement (that is a problem for batch processing or automation).
    - adding an Acrobat watermark to the file cuts the file size roughly in half.
    - just using Save As to another filename has no effect on file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 with links but no PDF bookmarks still results in the inflated file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 without any links or bookmarks results in approximately the same file size as the Acrobat 8 PDF with full links and bookmarks.
It appears that Acrobat 9's manner of adding links is what's bloating  the files, and in my case it's probably not related to images or image resolution/print quality.  It's a shame, because Acrobat 9 seems to have made some  improvements to the Review Tracker interface, and a few other bells and  whistles which I haven't really gotten around to exporing yet.  But  unless I find a way to keep my links and the PDF file sizes comparable to what I was  getting with Acrobat 8 Pro, it looks like I'm going to stay with Acrobat 8.

  • The best option to create  a shared storage for Oracle 11gR2 RAC in OEL 5?

    Hello,
Could you please tell me the best option to create a shared storage for Oracle 11gR2 RAC in Oracel Enterprise Linux 5? in production environment? And could you help to create shared storage? Because there is no additional step in Oracle installation guide. There are steps for only asm disk creation.
    Thank you.

Here are names of partitions and permissions. Partitions which have 146 GB, 438 GB, 438 GB of capacity are my storage. Two of three disks which are 438 GB were configured as RAID 5 and remaining disk was configured as RAID 0. My storage is Dell MD 3000i and connected to nodes through ethernet.
