Create new alias in KM

Hi All,
To refer to folder in KM I knew that we can use alias like /alias/documents/<user.id>
Can we create new alias such as <department>? and How?
Or how can we check which alias we can use?

Hello and welcome to the discussions, It is quite simple to do this. First open Macintosh HD>Users> your home folder will be in that. While holding the "Cnrl" key down, click on the home folder. A drop-down menu will appear. Choose "Make Alias". The alias will show up in the same folder, drag it to your desktop. Your done.

Alias - Creating new alias is not possible!

Does anyone have such a problem? I am trying to create a new alias and...every time got error message...server error... or another error. I'm starting to have enough. I removed the old aliases, I can not create new. What happens? Is it just my problem? I Follow the instructions and for weeksit does not work ... :-( Help please.

Unable to create new alias, for no apparent reason

Hi there,
I want to add an alias to my iCloud account. I already have one email adresse @me.com, and i want an alias to point to it. When i try to create one, i get an error: "server error. the address couldn't be saved".
What can i do? i really want this alias because i have it on every website on the internet pretty much.

My problem are somewhat simmilar, trere is no button to click to create a new alias although the diections provided instruct you to click this unvisible button. OS 10.7.4 iMac.

I'm trying to make iCloud mail my primary email but I'm concerned that I may have lost the perfect email address forever.

I have the same problem. After our wedding I've created an alias ([email protected]) to my actual AppleID Account ([email protected]). Now I'd the idea to delete the alias and my actual AppleID to create a new AppleID with ([email protected]).
Is there really no possibilty to do this?

Can't create a new alias

i currently have two alias in use and still have one available, but since long time ago, when i try to create an alias, it always return with the error "this alias is not available".
im pretty sure im using correct formate because the one im creating is basically in the same format like the two i had.
also it's not possible that someone has taken the address already. because i've tried my name followed by my DOB, also even random letters....
does anyone know what can i do at this point?

Then hopefully at the end of June, we will be able to create those aliases.
[edit] After reading in another thread that someone was able to make a new alias, quite suddenly, I thought I would check, also... and three aliases now exist where before there were none... two of them are old ones deleted from me.com long before the changeover, and one which I ought not to be able to have, since its the same as my current mac.com apple ID. I don't mind, I wanted to get that at one stage but it refused to create it.
What I did prior to checking my account prefs was to delete a folder that had been created, called Aliases (no point having one, if you dont have any, eh) and then I checked my account prefs. I don't know if theres a connection between the two, but perhaps those who are still struggling with the wait 7 days message when its been months, might look to see if they too have a useless "blank" listed under aliases, and delete that, as well as the Alias folder, if they have no other existing aliases. If theres something called "blank" get rid of it anyway, it doesnt do anything.
Also... I cant delete any of the aliases that now exist there... oh well.

Aliases are merely another address within the same account, you won't see additional groups of settings for them. You should however see them as an option in the pull down "From" menu when you create an email.

Can't create new email alias, still getting the 7 day message...

Ok so about two weeks ago I deleted one of my email aliases so I could create a new one... now I am passed the 7 day wait to create a new one but I am still getting the *You must wait up to 7 days to create a new alias*...
Any one else having this issue?

You have to take this up with your email service provider, whoever it is. It is not something you change on your Mac. Email addresses & aliases are created/maintained by your service provider.

Old user account not accessible - Had to create new user account

Why was I forced to create a new user account in order to access Apple discussions? The last time I had posted to Apple discussions was 11/06. From the emails notifying me of replies to my post, I can still go to the link where my question and the replies are. Last week I wanted to post another question. Instead I encountered a circular problem. Every time I tried to log in to discussions with my Apple ID and password (the same as my .Mac name and password, which were working fine for accessing .Mac), I was told that there was an error in my password. When I tried again, I was repeatedly re-directed to a "create new user account" web page that listed my .Mac email address as my Apple ID, as it should have. I tried to re-create my old user account with my own [real] name (as before) and was told that name was in use! Of course, it was me! (I had always used by real first name and surname as my name on Apple discussions.) So finally, very frustrated, I created a new name, a nickname, for discussions, and it worked. Now, all my previous posts are gone. It's as if I didn't exist in the Apple world until today, 9/16/07, but I originally had established my user account in 2004. I tried asking about this in a phone call to Apple support, but I was re-directed to the .Mac web site. Then I posted a question at .Mac feedback to no avail. I had a feeling that as soon as I "obeyed" and created a new user account that wouldn't be recognized as myself, my past posts would be sent into oblivion. I don't like losing all my previous posts that were attached to my user account. I have found this problem very frustrating and would really like an explanation.

Try this procedure.
Delete all the Apple Cookies in your browser, and empty the Cache.
Go here Discussions Sign In, and try logging in with your original Apple ID again.
If that still doesn't work, delete the Cookies again, and go to My Info, and log in with the original Apple ID.
If you get the error message "Your Apple ID or password was entered incorrectly.", click on "Did you forget your password? Click here for assistance".
On the page that opens, you can also click on "Forget your Apple ID

Cannot create new document in Pages09

Trying to create a new document in Pages 09 (has been updated to newest version) on OS X 10.8.2.
When I select New Document, the template browser comes up. When selecting any document in any category, including a blank document, a spinning wheel comes up within the preview of the document and the document cannot be opened. Doesn't matter if I select Choose button, our double-click, or anything.
Pages is not frozen. I can close the window or select something else, but nothing will open. Opening existing documents works.
I've found a workaround by creating an alias of the Templates folder within the Pages bundle on the Desktop and opening a template from there, but need to get this working correctly, as this is on my older parents' machine.
I've tried repairing permissions.
Ideas?

When something that used to work stops doing so, the most likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.

Error in creating new listener from Enterprise Mgr Console

When I try to create a new listener from Enterprise Manager Console, it displays an error message: Error in getting data for creating new listener. Check if the listener.ora location "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/admin" is a valid one. It is absolutely a valid ORACLE_HOME, in fact, I can setup TNS Connect Alias and Profiles from here, but the listener has became a pain in the neck.
I know I can use the java netmgr or netca or even vi to set it up; however, it is a must that it has to be done through Enterprise Manager Console (show EM manageability issues).

Credentials are valid, so the ORACLE_HOME path, otherwise I would not have been able to modify the other TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA.
I use the ORACLE_HOME owner credentials (oracle user at the OS level).

How to create new user account and delete old one?

Greetings,
we have wanted to change our alias on the discussions group but understand from the frequently asked questions section that,
"Once you create an alias, you cannot make changes to it. If you want to change your alias, you will need to create a new User Account".
However it does not go on to tell us specifically how to now set up a "new User Account". Could someone specify how to do this? And if we do this, how would we then delete the current User Account? Thank you.

If so, however I do not think I am able to change my Apple ID. As I am a mobile me user I am required to us my mobile me address for my apple ID.....and do not think I can have two ID's with the same mobile me address.....

Not with the same Primary address, but you can use your MM address as a secondary one. That is how I have my 2 Apple IDs setup. 1 uses my Dot Mac address and the other uses an ISP address as the Primary with the latter having my Dot Mac address as an alternate address.
Warning, even if you create a new account, you won't be able to use your current ALIAS with the new account.

Create new SID in oracle-xe at linux

i have oracle-xe in my linux box
i am accessing the database by default way like
database: 127.0.0.1/xe
now i want to create my own database (for that i thing i should create new SID or service name like xe) like this

but i don't know how to create that ?
i made my own copy the XE setup and added into tnsnames.ora file
