A user at EIS level is actually a user set up on the relational catalog where your olap models/metaoutlines are stored. For instance if you got to the OLAP model properties dialog and the General tab you can see the owner here is the user you use to connect to your catalog. You can also prevent other users from accessing models not owned by them by setting the security option from the drop-down list on this tab.Mark Rixon www.analitica.co.uk

I now only have 2 users on my OBIEE, demo1, demo2.. Now I'd like to create a new user call A and make this new user able to log on to OBIEE presenation service..
So I went to the RPD admin tool and created new user there and gave password. It was done online mode and I checked out..
I am able to login to admin tool with the new user account, but when I go to presentation service, I am not able to see this new user nor would I be able to log on using the new user account..
So how does this work? If I wanted to create a new user and let it access dashboard, I'd I do it

actually there is no option available in presentation service to create user. There you can just delete user and create and delete the groups.
Anyhow, you said you have created a user in rpd.
To see this user in answers, you must login into answers with this user once.
are you able to login with the newly created user?
(As you said you done the creation of user in online mode, this may not effect to the answers)
if not, just login with administrator into answers, click on reload server metadata, then log off from there.
Now, try to login with the new user. You may able to login.
OR
just restart your BI Server services. -

What about the password setting of these newly created users. Or can the set the password field in test file?? Because when we export the user, it is not showing any Password field.

Create a user and give the check box for 'Administrators' group and check.
If required give 'Presentation Service Administrator'group too.
In Settings->Manage Privileges you can restrict the user to the Answers.

Cannot create additional user in Essbase Adminstration Services
I have created the admin user in Admin Services but cannot create any additional users; the option to "create user" is grayed out. It doesn't allow me to use the wizard as well. Can anybody tell me what the problem is and how to resolve it.
First if you have created the Admin user when you first installed Hyperion, you can't create another user Admin user on the same server. Second, if you created the Admin user without supervisor or create/delete users privileges you can't create other users if you logged in with this user. You mentioned the create/delete is grayed out that means you don't have privileges to create or delete a user if you logged in with that user.
Also, you may have a problem with your EAS, so try using MaxL or ESSCMD to create users and assign them to groups, check the Tech reference for more details:

Create new user for a LifeDrive
My wife recently gave me her LifeDrive as she upgraded to a Centrino.I am looking for a way to take her user name off of the life Drive and put mine on so that I can sync it with the desktop from my old hanspring visor so that I can get all of the info that was on the visor onto the Life Drive.

Export the information to a file, then import it into the Palm Desktop for the Visor. For example, open Date Book, then go to File/Export and save the info as a file. You can later import this into another username in Palm Desktop.
Since the Visor is quite old now, the version of your Palm Desktop may need to be upgraded...

You need to double check in your custom menu you have added Manager Menu action without prompt and you setup profile option HR:Manager Actions Menu against responsibility.
Also, after that you need to bounce Apache and clear cache.

I guess you have chosen the file system option. If so you need can drag the jazn-data.xml from your CDB ORACLE_HOME in a JDeveloper project. After right-clicking on this imported file you can select the properties. Now you are in a wizard to create users and groups/roles. After modifying your file you can replace it on the server. To find the right location of the jazn-data.xml you can go to the EM Site http://<host>:<port>/em/console/ias/oc4j/sec/secProvs to look for the security provider of the "content" application. Edit the provider and you will see the location of the jazn-data.xml. -

Can't create new users in Administration Services Console

I am following directions in the Essbase DBA guide for creating new users, as it says you must create a partition user to work with Samppart and Sampeast applications. It tells me to log on to Administration Services Console, go to the Administration Server, and right-click on users to create a new user. However, when I right-click, the option to Create New User is light grey and not clickable, neither is the option to refresh users. Can anyone tell me why I can't create a new user? I am logged in with the username: admin password: password that I set during configuration and that should be the Administrative account.Hi,
What version are you using? If it is 9 then you need to create the user in shared services. I just checked and the option to create a user is greyed out for me too and I am an admin.
It sounds like you haven't externalised the users which is why the option to do a refresh is not there.

This process does not appear to work for me. I'm running 10.8.3. I created a new user for a guest staying with me. They have gone now and I am attempting to either change the password or delete the user. It won't allow me to choose the user I created. I am logged in as myself and it states that I am an "Admin". The user I'm attempting to change is listed as a "standard" user and there is a white checkmark inside an orange circular background on the user pic in the list of users.
Can someone help me? I am having a hard time believing that OSx will allow me to create users and allow them use of my computer and it's drives, yet it will not allow me to change the password so I can monitor what they might have been doing while logged on? What if this were my child? This guest left under sketchy circumstances, and I'd really like to be able to ensure they were not using my computer to do illegal things or to have illegal communications.
Any help would be appreciated. (It's odd that it was so simple to "create" a user and set a password for them.......but it's complicated or a little known process to reverse.
Thanks.Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

In our Golden Gate Project, we require the SYS user credential to connect to the Oracle 10g ASM instance to read the database transaction logs.But our client is not providing the SYS user credential to connnect to ASM instance.
I'm getting the error message "ORA-01109: database not open",When I tried to create a new user using the below the steps in oracle 10g ASM instance
1. Login using "sqlplus / as sysdba"
2. Create user <username> identified by <password>;
But in oracle 11g ASM instance, I'm able to create new user by connecting the ASM instance with SYSASM role without issues.
Is there is any workaround to create a new user with sysdba system privilege in oracle 10g ASM instance?.

Recreate the password file for the ASM instance as follows:
Unix:
orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/PWD<SID> password=<sys_password>
Windows:
orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/database/PWD<SID>.ora password=<sys_password>
Now sys password is reset, we are ready to use sys for ASM management. I decided to create another user ASMDBA as I tried above.
SQL> create user ASMDBA identified by test01;
User created.
SQL> grant SYSASM, SYSOPER to ASMDBA;
Grant succeeded.
SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
USERNAME SYSDBA SYSOPE SYSASM
SYS TRUE TRUE TRUE
ASMDBA FALSE TRUE TRUE

Sample workflow for Create new user in IDM

I'm new to Identity Manager. I had obtain task to create new workflow with this requirements:
- create new user
- make some approvals
- deploy this user to some resource (AD, LDAP, SQL)
I have problem with first step. I tried to create user by the help of http://www.javapassion.com/idm/ create user samples, but I'm affraid that mentioned samples aren't enough for real deployment. They are good for understanding of IDM.
So I decided to explore workflows/rules that are used as default in IDM. I think Create User dialog that is in menu Accounts -> List Accounts -> New Actions -> New User . But I'm not sure which workflow is used for this dialog. Is it Create User in ProvisioningTask, or some template in TaskDefinition, or Create User Template in TaskTemplate, or something another?
(I'm listing this templates through List Object in Debug interface).

thanks a lot for informations. I have try to find corresponding process mapping for 'Create User' under Configure tab. I found process 'createUser'. So I looked for 'createUser' workflow under 'Task definition' or 'Configuration' in debug. But there was no such workflow. Only workflow with similar name was 'Create Resource User', but it doesn't look like right workflow. I expected workflow with name 'Create User'. Does anybody have this workflow under 'Task Definition' in debug?
