Create OPC I/O server and front panel data socket problem

Hi all!
I installed the NI OPC server. When I try to create a new server I/O in a LabVIEW project I don't see the "OPC client" possibility.
Is something software missing?
Other question: I tryed to connect to OPC server using front panel data socket but my problem is same. When I click the numeric control and I go to the "data operation" menu there is no possibility to make data socket connection.
I don't know what is the problem.
I attached two pictures about my problem.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Dear vajasgeri1,
do you have LabVIEW DSC module installed? Without it you will not have the OPC client funtionality.
And to configure DataSocket binding you need to go to the Data Binding tab in the Properties of a control.

  • Dr. Damien's Development - The Xylophone Project X - Font Issues and Front Panel Layout

The Show Raw Data button was made active in this installment. Doing this in a robust fashion was more involved than one might think, due to font and platform issues (remember I want to port this to a Windows Mobile device eventually). The following changes were made.
The A frequency indicator was made active. This was an oversight from the last update.
A front panel object, XylophoneFP.lvclass, was created to hold the front panel references and methods.
The front panel object was used to implement the Show Raw Data button.
The front panel object was used to compensate for font issues.
When testing this application on Windows Vista, I noticed that the font differences between Vista and XP were annoying enough that I wanted to fix them. This will also lay the groundwork for any layout issues when porting to Windows Mobile. Usually, I create a cluster containing all my front panel references, but this time I put them into an object. Besides the usual object boilerplate, there are two methods, one to rearrange the front panel and one to show/hide the data graphs.
Once the controls and indicators are properly arranged, showing and hiding the data graphs is simple. VI server methods are used to find the edges of the outer controls, some whitespace is added, then the front panel size is reset. Arranging the controls in the first place is much more complex. Dialog controls are used, and these controls change size based on the default font size. Font sizes can change due to user preference or when using the application in a different operating system than it was developed in. Button sizes can also change due to localization.
This problem is difficult to solve cleanly, and the VI which does this, XylFP.lvlib:XylophoneFP.lvclass:ArrangeControls.vi, shows the problem. It relies on the actual sizes of the controls/indicators to rearrange the front panel in a hopefully pleasing fashion. Even though this is a relatively simple UI, the VI is fairly complex. It uses VI server calls to determine the current sizes of controls and then rearrange them. If you choose to do something similar, consider the following hints:
The Bounds property of all controls is not writable. To change the size of controls, you need to find the property or properties which change the size. There may be more than one (which is why Bounds is not writable). For example, to change the size of a boolean, use the Button Size property.
In many cases, the property you use to change the size of the control will not be the same value as the Bounds property. Using the boolean again, the Bounds of a 3D LED include the 3D effect around the LED, but the Button Size only includes the LED itself. Comparing the Bounds property to the result of a query to the property you will be setting will give you the necessary offset to convert between the two.
Make sure you label your wires if you attempt to do things like this. Long wires are very common in this type of programming. It is difficult enough to keep track of things without the added aggravation of having the trace wires back to their source to identify them.
A few judiciously placed type converters can eliminate many type conversion dots. This is not usually a real problem in this context, but you should get into the habit of efficient programming.

It is simpler but you give up any multi CPU performance.  That LV is inherently parallel is one (the only) real advantage over a text based development system.  I can write good structured text that is almost as visually easy to parse as LV.  With modern syntax coloring engines, the difference in icons vs. structured text is not that great.
But the challenge I give the traditional text coders is to keep track of many mulitple threads.  This is why dataflow is a powerful concept.  Yes it does lead to asynchronous execution but if you impose synchronicity on your code you are working against LV.  I get most first time programs where everything is in a sequence structure.  "Just to be safe".
Of course this is much better but  my first design goal is that any application should take advantage of a much hardware as possible, degrade gracefully on slower hardware and play nice with other running applications.  This simpler structure severely handicaps that first goal.
In this case it is simple enough to "get away" with it since as you point out that there should not be anything that takes significant CPU time.   But that may not be true on the PDA?
If you are going to run it on the PDA will we be discussing techniques to seamlessly use both NIDAQmx Base and NIDAQmx in the same system?  That is a real challenge.  I look forward to more of this!
    Cheers!

  • How to Create A standalone Report Server and replce by in process server

    Hi all,
I am new to oracle reports 10g, I have installed oracle applicaction server 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL4 now i want to create a standalone report server and replace it by the in-process report server . I searched the net to get a proper step by step guide to do the above but dint got the same can anybody guide to step by step process to do the same and also file which are to be edited i user sh rwserver.sh -install server name bath=yes command and sh rwserver.sh server name bath=yes & commad to start it but i am not able to see the same in the enterprise manager . Thanks in advance...
Also please tell me if it is recommeded by oracle to replace the standalone by inprocess server.

Hi do i need to fire the following the command then
sh rwserver.sh -install server name bath=yes
    sh rwserver.sh server name bath=yes &
    are these correct
and then fire the following command to register it to enterprize manager
    ORACLE_HOME/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh reports_server_name
Please correnct me if i am wrong
ANd i already fired (sh rwserver.sh server name bath=yes & ) command which in turn create a fine name server name.conf in th ORACLE_HOME/report/conf
now can i fire ( sh rwserver.sh -install server name bath=yes ) this command or there is some issues in that.
what should be sequence of firing these commands
and to test it after completing the activity

  • Titanium Fatal1ty Pro and front panel audio

So I hooked up my case's front panel audio cable to the Titanium card and used the front panel connectors.
The sound quality is noticeably worse than using the back plugs. When I use the front panel mic, I also hear artifacts in the sound. When I play a game, I hear slight buzzes in accordance to what is coming out of the speakers.
I'm wondering if this is just the quality of my cases's cables or if it also happens with the official creative front panel accesory.
Anybody want to comment on quality?

/Re: Titanium Fatalty Pro and front panel audioQI had an older Audigy 2 dri've connected to my X-Fi Xtreme Music and that never had any interference. The X-Fi dri've bay can't be bought separately anymore.
When I switched to a newer X-Fi without a front panel, I used the case connectors and the sound quality was awful.
I think it's the way the connectors are wired and the build quality. Despite the really awful drivers Creative ship for their cards, the hardware's actually pretty good.
There're some guides on how to rewire front panel connectors to reduce noise:

  • How to create a .mdf SQL Server database from a Data-Tier Application file that has data?

This is a noob question, though I do use SQL Server databases all the time with Entity Framework when I code in C# using Visual Studio 2013.  The development environment is found below at [A].  I am trying to make a clone of a SQL Server 2008 R2
database (.mdf)  that exists online.  I can read, connect and work with this database in Visual Studio 2013, but I wish to make a local copy of the database, as an .MDF file.  Somewhere in my notes I have a way of creating a local copy from
an online database when using Visual Studio but I forgot how (it seems, reviewing my notes, that it deals with ADO.NET which is deprecated in Visual Studio 2013 these days, or so it seems).  So I'm looking for another way.  What I did was create
(or export) a "Data-Tier Application File" from the online SQL Server database, with data, and it seems to have worked in that this Data-Tier Application file exists on my hard drive and seems to have data in it ("SQL Server Replication Snapshot"
is the format it seems).  It contains skeleton code to create a database, but when I tried to execute it with SQL Server 2014 Management Studio, I got a bunch of errors.
    So my question is:
    1) Can I somehow create a .MDF SQL Server Database from an Data-Tier Application file that has data?  What tool do I use?  I saw this link, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2639.how-to-use-data-tier-application-import-and-export-with-a-windows-azure-sql-database.aspx
and it relates to Azure, but is there a tool for C#Visual Studio 2013, standalone?
    2) If there's an easy way to create a .mdf SQL Server Database file from an online file, within SQL Server Management Studio?  I don't think so, since it would require Administrator permissions on the online server, which I don't have. I have permission
to read, update, delete the online database file, but strangely not to download it (the service I use has a tool for backup, but not for download).
    3) same question as 2), but for Visual Studio 2013?  I don't think so, since I notice none of the templates even mentions ADO.NET anymore, but instead they go with Entity Framework.  Using EF I can of course do anything I want with the online database
(CRUD), but it remains online.  Maybe there's a switch to make a local copy?  I guess I could write a short program to suck all the data out of the online database and put it into a new, duplicate database having the same tables, that I create on
my localhost, but my question here is if there's an easier way than this, maybe a tool or command I can run from inside Visual Studio?
Any advice on any of the above questions is appreciated.
    Thank you,

"2. what do you mean by online file?" - I mean the SQL Server database file is on a remote web server that I rent from, but I am not the administrator of.  I can access my database using SQL Server Authentication, but nothing more.

  • Created Infobects in DEV server and Transported to QA now I want to delete

    Hello All
Created Infobects(10) in DEV server and Transported to QA now I want to delete two infobjects from QA/NOW how to delete in QA?
should I delete in DEV and transport to QA,if I do like this will that deleted objects will disappear from QA?should I maintain same transport request number orelse different one?
cAN V DELET OBJECTS IN QA?
    pL LET ME KNOW THIS?
    Many Thanks
    balaji

    Hi,
Once you have done a Transport of elementary objects such as InfoObjects from Development to Quality and you want to delete the InfoObjects from Quality system then you cannot delete those objects with the another transport requests. Instead you should have an authorization to delete those objects in Quality.
But you can remove those requests from the Transport Queue so as to avoid the requests accidentally transported to production.
If you take other objects like cube or ODS or Multiproviders and you want to delete some infoobjects from those infoproviders you can make the changes in development and you can transport to quality system. In this case the objects will be overwritten with the new version.
Same is the case also with InfoObjects. You can change the property but you cannot delete in quality.
Hope this is clear to you.

    K.Manikandan.

  • Audigy 2 and front panel au

    Hi all,
I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (SB0240) I plan to put in my new computer setup, which is going into an Antec P60 case. The new case has front panel audio connectors for both speakers and microphone. The connector is compatible with the Intel specs. Is there a way I can connect my Audigy 2 to this? My mainboard's SoundStorm 2 audio has this connector, but I am unsure if I can do this with an Audigy 2 card.Message Edited by dterborg on --2004 2:36 AM

  • Soundblaster and front panel connectiv

Sorry if this has been addressed before!?I have Soundblaster 5. card, model no SB0090. It has a multi pin connector for attachment of the front panel dri've. However I do not have one of these dri'ves and they are no longer available. My question is can I connect mic, line (or speaker) out and line in to any of the pins in the SB card so I can make my own basic front panel connections. Thanks for any help?

Try it out, you can't break anything.
The leds work the way they should or they don't.
They won't break because you connected +/- wrong, if you do they simply won't lid.
As for the speaker, it doesn't matter, it's not a HiFi device it will work +/- reversed or not. (red = + / black = -)
Normal the PLED = Green + and White - for powerled.
Just connect it and see what happens.

  • Different sound quality from back and front panels

    I posted https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=112384.0
    but no one answered
Well, I have another related problem and a question:
    1. Why does sound differ if I plug my headphones into the back panel jack from that I get from my front panel jack?
    2. Is this by design?
    3. Can I change it (make sound from front like that from the rear)? How?
    4. Is this influenced by Windows Sound settings (speakers > advanced > headphones or speakers)? Could you please give more info on these settings (I could not find that anywhere!)
The major problem is that my phones sound too twittery, almost no bass, whereas the speakers plugged into the rear jack are OK. Please help!
My Windows is not English, so some names may be incorrect, sorry
    I have WinXP Pro, MSI P965 Neo-F, Realtek ALC883
I tried Technics RP-F500 and AKG K-44 headphones, they both sound alike
    I mostly listen to mp3s

hmm.. I do not aware of this, is this very significant?
I think you should check with MSI. goto MSI support site and post your problem.

I recently purchased a XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional and was wondering if i could connect the front panel audio from my thermaltake case to it

Well, I don't believe that to be possible. I don't think Creative has ever put out pinouts for the cards. And I have a hunch that none of the pins carry analog audio through them (correct me if I'm wrong though).

there are some posts here that has infomation on them, but of Audigy 2 ZS and doesn't seen to be the same my card. therefore, i'm currently looking at trying to enable both my creative sound card AND motherboard onboard sould so that the front panel can use the connections on my motherboard instead. can this be done?
it will be even better if it can connect directly into my sound card though

which of the 2 audio header plugs did you connect to the mother board ac97 or HDaudio?
have you connected the headphones to the rear pannel connector of the motherboard to see if its better?

  • How to data log graphs using front panel data logging?

Hello I have a VI that collects data from DAQmx thermocouple readings and graphs the temperature vs time using a while loop to collect data and graph. I have 9 control operators that define the correction factor of the thermocouples.
I want to create a datalogging using the option under Operations>Data Logging
When I retrieve the data the only information that is present are the control operators correction factors that I defined. The graphed data that was created is not retrieved.
Is there a solution to show the graphed data plots that were created on the front panel? They remain unchanged from the last run of the VI or blank if I open the VI without having ran the program.
    Thank you.

This is expected for the Data Logging in LabVIEW. If you want to record the signla data, use the Write to Measurement File Express VI.  Here's a link with a walk-through:
    http://www.ni.com/academic/students/learn-daq/data-logging/
The Data Logging from the Operate Menu is for recording front panel control(s), as you have observed.
