Create pdf library
Is it possible to create a pdf library to order my pdf documents?
Is this visible in a toolbar when in adobe?
Can this library be made available to me online
(I need to create a library of pdf research papers to help me in writing a research article)
I want to make alist of all my pdf documents that are accessible to me at a remote location - i think i have found the answer now using acrobat.com.
when i try to create a buzzword doc everything goes smoothly for about 5 mins but then it doesnt let me edit the txt i have already written - is ther an explanation for this from the sofware perspective?
Many thanks

How to add pdfs n movies from my PC without creating ne library
How to add pdfs n movies from my PC without creating ne library... Does iTune has ne converter tht can convert movie into format that iphone can play..
That's easy, while connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. If your iPod shows up ok in iTunes you can change it to manual from there.

Problems in creating PDFs from Indesign under Snow Leopard
The Acrobat PDF Printer does not work under Snow Leopard anymore.
Adobe gives this alternative:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
After an update to Acrobat 9.1.3 PDFs should now be generated through a new "Save as Adobe PDF" option under the "PDF" button in the system print dialog.
This does not at all work in Adobe Indesign with it's proprietary print dialog. The PDF-Button is only available in the system print dialog (I know it is accessible from within the Indesign print dialog panel, yet clicking on the PDF button and selecting "Save as Adobe PDF" is ignored).
To make things worse: If you follow the advice to delete the Acrobat Printer from the "Print & Fax" panel this deletes the ADPDF9.PPD from the Library/PPD folder! You even cannot produce .ps files and distill them manually. Fortunately I was able to restore the ADPDF9.PPD from a backup.
This is really annoying: How can Adobe state everything works fine under Snow Leopard if you are not able to create PDFs any more? Or did I miss something?Hi.
make this.
1. Go to the Apple> System Preferences...
2. Open the "Print & Fax" preference panel.
3. Select the Printing tab, to get to the printers list.
4. Select the printer "Adobe PDF 9.0".
5. Click the options and supplies button.
6. Choose the Drive.
Now I have reinstalled Leopard. but first like a Drive I have listed only a "Generic Printer".
I tried to reassign it ADPDF9.PPD but is not recognized and automatically resets to a generic printer.
So after some tests that I have found here
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
I have reinstall leopard
This has been my problem.

Getting general error when saving site using "create PDF from"
I'm using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0 for Mac, trying to save websites. This started working fine, but I had to shut down in the middle of a site being saved. Now when I try to save a site using Web Capture/create PDF from I get a "general error, nothing was saved". What do I need to do, remove, replace, reinstall or whatever to get this feature working again?
Also can anyone tell me how to set the feature that saves web pages with the headers and footers showing date, time, URL, page title, etc. I often use the print feature (save to PDF) and up until a day or so ago it always saved with those headers and footers. Now they're missing, which is what prompted me to try saving entire sites, above. I remember setting these a long time ago and being able to choose what went on the left, right,header and footer, but I cannot find those settings now.
Thanks,
MicheleWell, after downloading Applejack, I am completely confused. I'm not sure I understand what will happen if I do any of these steps: see 3a.. "clean out all cache files including the Launch Services database and any cached User Pictures". What kinds of things will I lose? Can I choose only the Acrobat cache files? I don't want to have to spend hours or days resetting things as I'm in the middle of a project with a close deadline. I also don't really understand fully what will happen with all the other things they discuss. The instructions say (I just copied and pasted these):
3. Auto mode: You can let the script run through its tasks automatically by typing 'applejack auto'. If you want the machine to automatically restart at the end of its tasks, use 'applejack auto restart'. You can also tell the computer to shut down automatically at the end by using the command line 'applejack auto shutdown'.
3a. Deep Auto mode: If you want to let AppleJack clean out all cache files, including the Launch Services database and any cached User Pictures, use 'applejack AUTO' instead. Use this if you still have problems booting after running AppleJack already.
4. Interactive mode: To run through just one task, or to run the script manually, type 'applejack' and then choose tasks from the menu. Running the script in interactive mode has the benefit of giving you options for working with user level cache and preference files, not just the default system level caches and preferences. To select an option, type the highlighted number or letter associated with the action, and then hit return. Whenever you enter a choice in AppleJack, you will need to hit return for that choice to take effect.
4. Corrupted preference files are moved into a directory that will mirror the original preference directory, with (Corrupt) added to the directory name. For example, corrupt preferences files found in ~/Library/Preferences will be moved to ~/Library/Preferences (Corrupt). After running AppleJack, you'll probably want to take a look at them (and most likely throw out those folders). As of version 1.4.2, AppleJack now creates a copy of the directory tree inside the (Corrupt) folder so that if any files were deeply nested inside the original preference folder, they will be placed in an identical directory hierarchy in the new (Corrupt) folder. This way, if for any reason you would want to move a preference file back, you know where it should go.
6. AppleJack has a primitive logging mechanism. It writes a journal of most of its activity to /var/log/AppleJack.log. AppleJack will automatically reset the log the next time you run it, if the file should ever reach a size somewhat over 500k. -
Can't create pdfs from applications nor from distiller

I have Adobe CS3 Master Collection installed.
I installed a CS4 beta (Fireworks) and at that point became unable to print (create PDFs). I can do other things with Acrobat Pro (combine files, etc).
I've uninstalled CS4, used the CS4 cleaner script after installation and uninstalled the entire Master Collection CS3 and reinstalled CS3. The rest of the suite works fine. Adobe PDF 8.0 did not reappear in my printer list.
I added the PDF printer and here are the settings:
Status: Stopped
Print Server: Local
Driver Version: 10.4
Default: Yes
URI: pdf800://distiller
PPD: Adobe PDF 3016.102
PPD File Version: 1.1
PostScript Version: (3016.102) 0
I'd appreciate any help!!!!
Thanks,
JulieI haven't moved up to OSX 10.5 yet, but I was wondering if you can do what I do in 10.4
In the Print Dialog window in the bottom left is a PDF button. Click on that and you have the option "Save PDF as Postscript". And then drop your postscript file onto Distiller. -
I am attempting to make a PDF library within one of my folios. It is a 4 page article, with the 3 and 4th pages having links to PDF's.
Originally the PDF library was an HTML widget built for an iBook. But when I use a button to launch a Web Content overlay, there is no way to close the widget. iBooks would place its own DONE or close button over the widget to allow the user to close it and go back to the iBook. in DPS, it opens the widget, but does not give a close button. I tried creating an MSO with a close button in it, but the web content overlay hides the button, even if the close button is on the layer above it within the MSO state.
So, I am trying to rebuild the widget within ID DPS, and am about 90% there. I have an MSO with the layout of the buttons to launch the PDF's in one state, and a blank object. I can use a button to GO TO STATE 2 to display the state with all the links and a background in it, and it shows the close button that has a GO TO STATE 1 function that triggers state 1 which is blank.
So, that all works just fine. My problem is that I can't get a PDF to open from within the MSO STATE 2. I've tried a button with an OPEN FILE action, I've tried hyperlinks to the HTMLResources zip file that I've uploaded the PDF's to. The both don't work. I've tried the procedure in the DPS tips and tricks app, but I can't get the pdf to open. When previewing on the iPad, it shows an error that it can't find the URL.
Any ideas? It seems that InDesign isn't always good at updating the web content overlay links either. I'll make a change to the HTML content in dreamweaver, save it, switch to ID and relink to the same index page of the HTML content, preview it and the changes are not there.
MattUnfortunately, you cannot change a scan into live text using Adobe Reader. At a minimum you would need Adobe Acrobat to run what's called Optical Character Recognition.
What I've recommended to people in the past is to use the drawing markup tools to draw boxes around the text they want highlighted then play around with the fill color of the box until they get something close to what they want. -
Create pdf using Adobe acrobat sdk
Hello,
I'm new to this concept of using adobe sdk to convert a html into pdf.I would like to know few details regarding this..
I went thorugh the documentation but I did not get any help about the vector image support in the pdf and I aslo want to know abot the dpi support in the pdf.
I also want to know wether I can create a pdf form a Html page.
thanks for the help.>I want this to be on the server.
Ok, we can start there - or stop. The Acrobat SDK is for automating
Acrobat. Acrobat must not be installed on a server. So you cannot use
Acrobat.
Adobe have a PDF Library, which can be licensed for server use. But it
does not have any easy HTML to PDF converter.
You might look into LiveCycle PDF Generator, a different application
with a Java API and more, for server use.
>The dpi what I was talking about was..in the pdf i want a logo to appear that would around 200-300 dpi.That logo is a vector image.
This seems a contradiction. PDF files can store text, vector images
and bitmaps/images. If you store a vector image, it remains vector and
there is no dpi to worry about.
HOWEVER if you can only convert HTML
1. HTML does not support any vector formats
2. HTML often forces images to 72 dpi.
HTML is not suitable for print quality.

Hi,
How can i provide a page break using PDF library? Whether Indesign CS4 does support page breaks for PDF generation. If the not the API, whether this is possible by creating a Indesign template with page breaks for the data to fit in? Also whether Adobe PDF supports page breaks? Please shed some light into this.
Thanks,
RithuI Just checked through a few old documents. It appears that numbers used to export PDF files with page breaks and the last update scrapped this in favour of redicusously large one page files.
Is it really that hard to give an option as to how to export a file? -
Word v.X no longer printing or creating PDF files (specific to one user)
As of yesterday I cannot print from Word (v.X 10.0) documents or create PDF files from Word documents.
I can print by logging out and using a test user ID.
I can print after a safe restart (which disables many functions).
I am still able to print and create PDF files from Pages, Firefox and other programs.
When attempting to create a PDF from a Word file through the Print dialog box, then saving as PDF, I can see the "magnifying glass" image for the PDF briefly on the desktop, then it disappears.
Apple Care Phone Support refuses to deal with Microsoft issues (even though it appears to be a print command failing within Mac OS steps of the process, and/or a Mac OS-generated and sorted plist file corrupting the process).
Microsoft no longer supports the software (i.e., any file you are now using ending in .doc is no longer supported).
Has anyone had a similar problem or an idea about what to do with likely culprit files?Sounds like a M$ problem to me.
Can you save an Excel file as a PDF?
There are .plist files in user>library>preferences
that control the last used settings in apps.
Quit the office app.
Trash the com.microsoft.word.plist first.
If that doesn't work trash the com.microsoft.office.plist
PS What does yesterday have to do with PDFs not working?
Something change? -
Creating PDF file in XI using iText
Hi all,
I am trying to create a PDF file in XI using itext. The PDF file is getting created in my target ftp server but I am not able to open the PDF. It is throwing the below error while opening.
"Adobe Reader could not open the sample.pdf because it is either not a supported file or because the file has been damaged(for example,it was sent as an e mail attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)"
I am using the below code in my udf
String filename= "Sample.pdf";
try
Document document= new Document();
PdfWriter pdfwriter=PdfWriter.getInstance(document,new FileOutputStream(filename));
document.open();
document.add(new Paragraph("Hi How are you?"));
document.close();
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
.getTransformationParameters()
.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
conf.put(key,filename);

Kindly let me know if you have any information on this.

I had used custom adapter module for creating the PDF file.
you have to use java mapping if you want to create pdf without using adapter module.
You need to import iText library available at http://itextpdf.com/.
How to use external jar files ??
External Jar files in UDF
code may look like this:
import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.InputStream;
import java.io.InputStreamReader;
import java.io.Reader;
//1. AbstractTransformation class is imported.
// The associated jar file is: com.sap.xpi.ib.mapping.lib.jar
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.AbstractTransformation;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.DynamicConfiguration;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.DynamicConfigurationKey;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.StreamTransformationException;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.TransformationInput;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.TransformationOutput;
import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.InputHeader;
public class xyz extends AbstractTransformation {
public void transform(TransformationInput inp, TransformationOutput out) throws StreamTransformationException {
getTrace().addInfo("JAVA Mapping Called");
InputStream inData = inp.getInputPayload().getInputStream();
// pdf conversion code
out.getOutputPayload().getOutputStream().write(outData.getBytes("UTF-8"));
check http://help.sap.com/javadocs/pi/SP3/xpi/index.html for java mapping api.

Queries on The Adobe PDF Library SDK
Hi,
I have a requirement to merge multiple PDF files to single PDF on AIX 5.3 Server. This is currently done using Itext and Java. But recently we noted that Itext doesn't compress the PDF significantly. Then we tried merging the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Writer(Adobe Standard 8) manually on Desktop (windows Vista). To our surprise the Merged PDF size was less.
So we want to move on to Adobe SDK. Appreciate response on below queries:-
1) Is it possible to use PDF Library SDK to Merge multiple PDF to single one via Java program.
2) As the Program will be run in AIX 5.3 Server which is the version of PDF Library SDK I can use?
3) Can I use PDF Library SDK on server?
4) Is license required to create one target PDF from multiple source PDFs? I presume PDF Library SDK require license.
5) How much is the cost involved in purchasing it. Do i have to buy whole suite as my requirement is only PDF writer?
6) Can I get any support from Adobe for SDK related problems after the purchase of product.
7) I have downloaded, Acrobat 9 SDK. Please suggest how to proceed for finding docs on PDF writer as folder looks ambiguous.
Thanks,
AnuThanks lrosenth.
Please help me with the below queries also,
1) Advantage of LiveCycle ES over Adobe PDF Library?
2) Can I use Adobe PDF Library on AIX system and Java?
3) LiveCycle ES family of products :- Is it comes as single license, or can i purchase it based on my requirement of SDK (Only PDF Merge & Compresssion) ?
4) LiveCycle ES family of products:- Will it work with Java and AIX.
Depending on your reply i will raise license request for either LiveCycle ES / Adobe PDF Library .
Best Regards,
Anu -

Anyone know of a Java PDF Library?
Anyone know of a java library that assists in creation of pdf files?
iText (lowagie.com) has been around for a while. I used it several years ago, and it seemed fairly decent then. It seems to be the de facto standard. You create PDF elements via Java code. doc.newParagraph(); paragraph.setText(), etc.
There's also FOP at apache's XML project. That hasn't been around as long, and might not be as mature, and I think there are maybe more pieces to learn, but it has the advantage that you can specify your doc's contents in XML, use XLST to transform it to XSL-FO that includes layout information, and then let the tool turn that XSL-FO doc (which is really just more XML) into PDF and several other formats. -
Creating PDF with stylesheet from my website
How do I create a PDF directly from my website using a specially-styled page?
Joomla does it and I'm wondering how I can do the same thing. It's similar to a printer-friendly version. But when you click the "create PDF button", it asks you where to save and then creates the file.
Any ideas?Here's what I did ....
I was rather dismayed that I couldn't use the features that were with QuickTime 7.6.3 so I got brave and took it out of the utilities folder where it was placed when I installed Snow Leopard. I then went into my Time Machine Backups, went to my computers saved library in the SYSTEM FOLDER copied ALL of the components, then pasted them into my HOME library in the new version of installed Leopard Files. When I open up QuickTime 7, I now have access to the two preference areas in the finder, one that now shows my previous registration code, and the other general app preferences. I was also able to convert files from one format to another like before. I haven't used this extensively, so I can't vouch that I might fall prey to some form of future conflict. But, hey, it's worth trying! You can also just go to downloads from apple and get Quicktime 7 and put it back into your utilities folder.
