Create PDFs that open at 100%

In Indesign, is there a way to export pdfs that will open at 100% by default?
Indesign CS2 4.0.5
Windows XP Pro

If you're wanting it on your receiving end...
Open up a PDF (so Acrobat opens up)
Go up to Edit > Preferences > Page Display and change Page Layout to Single Page and change the Zoom to Fit Page.

  • How do I save/download a PDF file  as an actual PDF that opens in Adobe Reader?

When I save/download a PDF from Google Chrome it always saves as an Internet Explorer file instead of a PDF that opens in Adobe Reader.
    Why is this?
And how can I fix it?
I really need PDF files for school and work.

What means "an Internet Explorer file"; what is the file type / extension?
Also, how do you "save/download" these files?

  • Acrobat 9 create pdfs that older versions of reader can open

I use Acrobat to create pdfs for my classes. This session, many of my students can not open the pdfs that I created with Acrobat 9. This is especially true of students with older Operating systems and older versions of reader. Is there a way that I can create pdfs in Acrobat 9 that these older readers can open?

You should be able to set the backward compatibility in the Adobe PDF printer. There is a setting for the version there.

  • How do I create an invisible rectangle link in a PDF that opens a webpage in a new tab?

I need to make a pdf that when viewed on the web will have invisible boxes around pictures that go to other pages in new tabs.

    Adobe Reader cannot create links.
If ou have Adobe Acrobat, all those options are available in the link tool dialog.

  • PDF not opening at 100%

    Hi,
I've created a multi-page PDF with bookmarks and hyperlinks.  The initial view settings are set at 100% magnification.  I've also secured this document so that it can't be saved, printed, copied, etc.  It is residing on a secure website.  So far, I have three users who claim that it's not opening at 100% (there are over 300 users).  I've double and triple checked the properties and cannot find any difference between this document and other documents created the same way that DO open at 100% magnification.
Any suggestions?  Could it be a Reader version issue (the users are not acrobat users)?
I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.
    Thank you!

Could be that their personal settings aren't set a "default". They can set their preferences for PDF's to open at whatever they want.

Basically worthless settings if they are using a third party PDF viewer (I know you didn't ask, just saying...)

  • Create Hyperlinks that open in new tab or window?!

    Hello,
Ok, so, this has been asked other times for many versions of InDesign and most common response is to do it in Acrobat Pro. WHY?!!!! I couldn't even easily figure out how to do it there and frankly, don't want to. That seems so backwards and tedious to have to do...seriously. How is this not an option in InDesign Hyperlink edit creation/options yet?!! It is SO simple. Please tell me I'm missing something... I love Adobe products and especially CC products that are getting better and more time saving...but this is so dumb, I'm sorry. I'm no smarty software engineer but I know what user friendly is and how things should work for everyone...and it seems like an easy thing to make possible. Many people create PDF's in InDesign for viewing/downloading in a browser and this needs to be an option with-in InDesign CC. Simple as that. When the PDF is opened in Acrobat the links do open in new tab/window but NOT when it is viewed in a browser. This is why I should or maybe shouldn't work for Adobe, I wouldn't let little things like this, that actually makes a big difference in user experience, go unnoticed and unchanged over so many new releases and updates...or ever be taken away. I guess I'll put in an InDesign CC features request...
Thanks to anyone who agrees and relays...or lets me know I'm missing something.
    Andy

I would also like a solution to this problem. It seems to have been around for quite a while.

  • Creating PDFs that small enough to d-load

Creating PDF job applications (small enough to dload)
    behnaz a - 09:26pm Sep 20, 2008 Pacific
I have sort of a complicated question. I am wanting to use Adobe Acrobat to create PDF job applications b/c several positions I am applying for request applications via e-mail. Along with a cover letter and resume, I want to send my writing samples in the PDF. I have the original PDFs of the published articles and I am using Photoshop to crop out my articles and scale them down so they can print out on a standard piece of computer paper. After I'm done editing in Photoshop, I save it as an Photoshop PDF file, which I then open up in Adobe Acrobat. Then I batch everything together as a several page PDF file.
My problem is that the PDFs files end up HUGE.. about 22 megs... and no employer will have the patience to try to download that. I tried experimenting with the resolution on Photoshop, but I found that caused the prints to come out blurry and unreadable. Furthermore, it only brought down the file size a little bit.
Basically, I would like to know how I can create PDFs of my writing samples - in good, printable quality - at a small file size. I should note that the original PDFs I am editing are small... only about 700 kbs. It's just that when I do my edits in Photoshop, the files turn out huge.
If anyone can help me with this or direct me to a forum where I can get some help, I'd really appreciate it.

You might have just printed them 2-up or such to obtain what you were looking for. A touched up article might appear to be questionable (i.e., fake) and they may prefer to see them in the journal context or in the form they were originally submitted. A lot depends on the job you are going for and what they asked for. For instance, they may ask for selected articles. Few places would ask for all. There are a lot of variations to consider.
When you save the PDF (if manipulated in Acrobat), be sure to use SAVE AS. You can also try using Reduce File Size or PDF Optimize. The latter has an audit feature to see where the size bulk is. However, if you are doing everything in PhotoShop and the original was not a graphic, that is the major problem.

  • SDK for creating PDFs, that can be emailed to end user?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section
I have been searching for a while but haven't found anything yet that I can see that covers my question, so please redirect me if this is a common/easy question!
This is not a matter of the user clicking on some icon in their browser window to convert the on screen HTML to PDF
I am not a developer, but may need to get one of my dev team involved in this discussion but thought I'd outline our situation
I work for a software company and as part of our product range, we offer online ticketing. We use ASP.Net as the development tool so all pages are aspx, we use a SQL back end, we use a CMS to plug our web modules into.
    Scenario
You want to go to the local zoo. Rather than lining up and buying a ticket, you wish to purchase an entry ticket online. You go to the zoo's website and notice a Purchase Tickets link, which is where my company steps in, as the builder of the business logic behind purchasing the ticket
As part of the purchase process, you submit your name and email address, which is then stored in a SQL database.
At the end of the purchase process, you receive an email with two PDF attachments, being:
    1. your ticket(s) and receipt, which shows details extracted from the SQL database. The tickets will include a barcode image (currently 1D, would stick with this for now)
    2. ideally you will have a separate PDF that contains Terms and Conditions of Entry to the zoo
We have a solution that covers almost all of this, although currently we produce a single PDF that includes receipt, tickets and terms and conditions
The PDF generation is currently handled within our web modules, so effectively the ticket is being generated by the Web Server. We are currently using a product from Winnovative to produce the PDF pages
However the ticket generation is somewhat restrictive, and ideally we want to create much better looking tickets, that cater for formatting (font, color, etc) and ideally the ticket design could be changed by our clients (someone at the Zoo wants to add some static text, or an image, or move stuff around)
The barcode generation seems to work well for us at the moment, though our current solution only supports 1D barcodes. I don't think Adobe is the answer for the barcode generation, but the PDF needs to display the barcode we generate
I guess the first thing is, is there an Adobe product that sounds like it would suit our purposes? What would that product be?
    Thanks in advance
    Adrian

Yes, that is built right into Business Catalyst comments.
In the admin under the comments section you can select wether or not comments need to be approved first. You can then set up a user or workflow to be sent through email to the user to be able to approve it. Only catch is the user would have to have admin rights.

  • Like to Create PDF that includes portrait & Landscape pages

I have a HP Scanner which allows me to create PDF documents. I have these very important documents about "My Learning Disability" the issue is that some pages are printed in Portrait and others are in Landscape. I really need to know if its possible to create a PDF with my specific needs? I have the latest addition of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    HP SCANJET G4010
Currently when I scan the pages are all portrait which makes some of them sideways on my Monitor
    Thank you Very Much

Reader cannot create PDFs. You'd need to ask in the Acrobat Forum, as your scanner probably uses it to make the PDF.

    No, it isn't.

  • Creating a hyperlink from a picture in a pdf that opens Outlook email

I use Adobe Acrobat 8.1 and am trying to create a link in a PDF so that with READER 7.0 or higher, when a recipient clicks on a picture (object) it will access Outlook and open up a new email that the recipient would complete and then send! Is it via a hyperlink? Not sure, and would appreciate any help that could be offered. Thanks.

There is a possibility this will not work reliably. For forms, the mailto submission requires MAPI on the client machine. That may also be true for any use of mailto. In that case, it will be dependent on the client machine configuration. On non-windows machines, I have no clue what might happern.

  • CREATING A PDF THAT OPENS TO 'FIT IN WINDOW'

Using InDesign (I'm CS2) is it possible to create a pdf with a default setting so that no matter who opens it (with Acrobat) it will open to 'fit in window'?
Is this a creator defined attribute?
I know that one can set their preferences in Acrobat so that all files open to 'fit in window'. But is there something that InDesign can do to insure this will happen no matter the end user's preference settings?
If not, is there a cheat? Is there a default dimension that will assuredly open to fit in someone's window? In other words, I would use this cheat for all e-mailed versions of the file.
    Thanks!

Sorry...you already know the only way to get this to happen.

  • How do you create PDF that works across different OS?

Please advise how to create proper PDF from Acrobat XI so that I can pass this on to a person who is generating files that do not work for me on a Linux system.  Because I use Linux I cannot use Acrobat, but I have no problems with files created by other people on Windows or Mac systems.
I still own some Adobe products for use on old PCs hence my ability to post this question.

It is clear that you did not receive the email I forwarded with attachments.  I have placed various files at:

    Friends Newsletter August 2014 copy.pdf
    Friends Newsletter August 2014.pdf
    Friends Newsletter December 2013.pdf
    MaryRose-2013-AnnualReport.pdf
    email_exchange.pdf
    screenshot_august.pdf
    screenshot_december.pdf
Please download these.  The first file listed above was created by saving a copy after opening the file while it was attached to the email.  It is not searchable.  If I saved the file from the email I could not open it.  The December newsletter is searchable as is the annula report.  The email exchange provides more details of my problems with the files.

  • Creating URLs that open a new tab or browser window?

    Hello out there...
I am creating some podcasts via Garage Band and iWeb for my grade 9 class. I have embedded some URLs in the podcast however when one 'clicks' the links the iWeb page is closed and the user is taken to the new page.
I would like the iWeb page with the podcast to remain open and a new page or tab open up to display the link.
Is it possible to do this?
    Thanks,
