Create Photo Frames

How to create photo frames with Photoshop Touch
Create a quick frame for your photo. Then use effects to add texture, dimension, and shading.
1. After selecting the "Create a Photo Frames" tutorial, press "Begin Tutorial" to start. Tap Add Layer, then tap Empty Layer.
2. Choose the Rectangle Marquee selection tool from the toolbox.
3. Tap Corners and enter a radius of 15px.
4. Starting from the top left corner, create a selection for the inside of your frame.
Tip: If you don't like the selection you've created, tap once anywhere on the screen to deselect and try again.
5. Choose Select > Inverse to select only the frame area.
6. Tap the & menu. Then choose Fill & Stroke.
7. Tap Color. Select a color and tap OK.
8. Choose Effects > Artistic > Scratches
9. Choose a color for the scratches, set type as Crumpled, and tap OK.
10. Choose Select > Deselect
11. Choose Effects > Basic > Bevel.
12. Adjust the Angle and other values and tap OK.
13. Choose Effects > Basic > Drop Shadow
14. Adjust the Angle and other values and tap OK.
15. Tap the back arrow in the top options bar. This will prompt you to save. Press Save to save your project.

If you have a lot of images, probably the easiest way to do this is:
First, go into Preferences > Project Pane and set Create Layers at: Current Frame
Start at playhead position 0
Import an image; tap the right arrow key twice (advance two frames - make sure the playhead is advancing [select canvas if necessary]) (Alternatively, you can click the ||> button under the canvas twice)
Repeat until all images are imported.
To make each image 2 frames long: select all images in the layers list and go into the Inspector > Properties > Timing and for Duration, type in 2 and Enter.  This is technically an unnecessary step if all the image are the same size and there is no transparency in any of them because each image will simply cover over the last.

I've created a photo book in iphoto on my ipad.  When I try to order it (by clicking the price of the book in the top right corner) it says that Your book contains empty photo frames - add photos to the empty frames, or change the page layout to include fewer photos" but when I look at each page, there are photos in all the frames.  What do I need to do to order this book??????

Does anyone know if there are any templates out there I could just copy and past to get this done? i am simply looking to create a frame pretty much taking up the entire center of the existing page while leaving the navigation menu in tacked. Do appreciate the help!

  • Photo frame export from iphoto

i bourght a digital photo frame recently but am having trouble exportin from my iphoto library.
I need to export to the native resolution of the frame which is 480x234 to optimise the number of photos I can fit on the memory card (any larger is just a waste of memory because the frame shrinks the oversized picture to the frame resolution).
The problem is that when I uncheck the "full-size image box" I can't enter the desired size in the fields below, I get 480x380 as iphoto tried to preserve the 4:3 aspect ratio.
is there any way around this? can I change the aspect ratio to 16:9?
    any help please?
    cheers
    Steve

    Steve:
You can get exactly what you want by using Resize! as follows:
1- create a new folder on the desktop and drag your chosen photo into it.
2 - launch Resize! and under the Box resizing section put in your dimensions. You can also set the quality level for the files also in order to reduce the overall file size even more to what you want. I found that Decent (60) was plenty good enough for the digital frame that I have. It took my 2272 x 1704 files (at 1.7-2MB each) down to 480 x 234 and around 20KB each in size. That helps the frame read and transition the files much quicker.
The application creates a second folder with the resized images. So you can experiment with several settings to get what works best for you.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problem with creating Photo Book

In the past when creating an iPhoto book if I dropped a Portrait photo into a Landscape frame, the frame changed to portrait. This option seems to be turned off now in the new version of iPhoto. I find I need to often change the shape of the frame and to customize the page to a greater extent. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to sort this problem out?

For reference: you can "adjust" a photo frame or text box size on a page with the following key combinations:
Command + Option +⬆arrow:  increase frame height.
Command + Option +⬇arrow:  decrease frame height.
Command + Option + ➜ arrow:  increase frame width.
Command + Option + ⬅ arrow:  decrease frame width.
To adjust its position on the page use these key combinations:
Command + Control + ➜ arrow:  move frame to right.
Command + Control + ⬅  arrow:  move frame to left.
Command + Control + ⬆ arrow:  rotate frame counter clockwise.
Command + Control + ⬇ arrow:  rotate frame clockwise.
You can conver the standard frame (on the left) to this one (on the right)

  • Compatible Digital Photo Frame?

I'm trying to find a digital photo frame which is reliably compatible with Mac files (i.e. iPhoto), for both photos and video. I didn't think it would be such a big deal but now that I've started researching it, I'm finding all sorts of complaints about incompatibility, especially with, for example, .mov files.
The product I'm seeking is intended to be a gift for my elderly grandmother (90 years old) so it has to be simple to use (in other words, I'm not going to get her an iPod touch-- just a simple frame, on which I can pre-load photos and videos, would be ideal.)
    Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance, and forgive me if this question should be posted elsewhere.

Old Toad (love the name!)-- Thank you for the response, and the tip on converting the video files. I think I will try that out, and maybe take a card or thumb drive into Best Buy or Fry's and see if I can test it.
Can anyone confirm success with putting short videos (created on an Apple device, such as an iPhone) on a digital photo frame? I spent hours Googling yesterday and could find no actual testimonials of such...
Seems like a pretty basic thing that people would like to be able to do these days, with all the file/video sharing. I know most people just physically hand over a phone or other device and say, "here, look," but I'm sure I'm not the only one with elderly grandparents who never got much beyond using an electric typewriter, and when you can't be physically there to show them something on your own device or computer, there needs to be a simpler solution. I'm looking at frames because those seem to be the least intimidating for an elderly person, as they don't "feel" as much like space-age electronics.
If anyone has any other options other than a digital frame (I was even considering a small, portable DVD player that would play photos & vids burned to a disc, but that's getting sort of ridiculous), I'm open to suggestions.
    Thanks so much.

  • Wireless photo frame connection to a private ovi a...

    Hi!
I'd like to get a wireless photo frame for home (currently considering Samsung SPF-105V), and give some to close relatives as well. I'd like to configure them so that I can upload a picture from my phone to a private family album in Share on Ovi, after which that picture should appear on all the wireless frames tracking my photo album.
    Now the issues / problems:
    1) I found http://share.ovi.com/feeds/ and was able to connect to RSS feeds on my public albums, private of course not. There's currently a mechanism to send an email link to a private album to a non-registered user, but I'm not aware of a way to construct an RSS or atom feed address in a same way?? I wouldn't need any tight security for this purpose, just keep the photos out of publically searchable indices would be fine. So, a similar solution as the mail-in "!passwd" postfix in the address and no appearance in the Share on Ovi public feeds or searches would be enough.
    2) As alternative solutions, the Samsung frame seems to have special support for Microsoft Live Spaces. I'm not currently using that so no big interest to do so for this purpose. Frame channel (http://www.framechannel.com/) has mail-in support for adding pictures to the feed, but it seems that the incoming pictures must be separately approved by channel owner, which seems like unnecessary extra effort in this case.
    Any creative solutions around?
    Thanks!

After learning a bit more basics over the weekend, I can continue a bit on my earlier post (the problem is not solved yet, though):
    1) Framechannel seems to offer light protection on their RSS-feeds: The feed address contains a username and a PIN-code. This kind of security would be enough for me: Use the mail-in password of a privat album as a password in the RSS-feed of a private album. As this doesn't give very good security, it should be selectable in the album parameters, whether an RSS-feed is created in the first place. Or maybe this is already possible, but I just don't know it?
    2) Framechannel can sign into some accounts (e.g. Flickr, Facebook, the usual suspects) and pull out also non-public material. Having Share on Ovi support in framechannel would also solve my problem.
So, as a next step I'll probably try to address Share on Ovi support on 1) and Framechannel support on 2).
Still, if you know a good solution, which is already available, I'd be glad to know. :-)

  • Widescreen display on photo frame

How can you format or resize the photos as wide screen format so they will display in wide screen mode on Sony photo frame players?
    Thanks

A photo is the shape it is. You will need to either make a crop so that only the part of the image you want shows, or create extra canvas so that the photo is letterboxed on the frame. You can't make a normal aspect image into a widescreen image without distortion unless you do one of those things.

  • Center images within a photo frame

    I saw a friend's site where it used a pre-bought package. It
had nice photo frames and a sutle drop shadow.
The site I'm working on has a lot of photos and I would like
to set them off this way.
What I did was make the frame with a drop. Drop shadow isn't
looking good even though I did a .png Anyway, I made the frame the
background image-ok. Now I want to center the photo within the
frame. The photo info is in the page as the owner wants to change
it. Its a <img> tag. I tried doing a align center in the
<img> but that didn't do it.
Somehow that program did it. I believe it was done with CSS.
    Anyone know?

Thats a complex piece of positioning using css. I'm pretty
    sure youre
not going down that route as it would be beyond your
    capabilities given
what you have said to date.
So I would forget that and show us the code you are using to
    create YOUR
version of this. This effect can be achieved with a lot less
    complexity
than the example you provide above.
Below is an example. You'd need to know something about css
    to
understand it. Basically you would create a <div>
    container and use a
background image for the drop shadow, then insert the main
    image within
the container, style and position it with css.
At the moment in the example below the image appears to be
    off-centre
but when the drop shadow background image is added it will be
    centered
    in the <div>

  • How to create own Frame?

    Hello,
How to Create My Own Frame, store it as preset and use it any time?
    Thanks
    Dhiraj

    Steps to follow :
    1. For creating a frame or theme, you would need to create a psd and a metadata file and place it @ the location : C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\frames for frames and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Photo Creations\themes for themes.
    2. Next you would need to delete the file ThumbDatabase.db3 from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0
    3. Relaunch Application.
The psd name and metadata file name should be same.
Let me know if this works out for you.

  • Lightroom plug ins for photo frames

I do all my digital processing in Lightroom and would like to experiment with printing photos with retro analog-style photo frames, i.e. slightly ragged black film edges. However, all plug ins I have found seem to require the layering capabilities in Photoshop. Do I have to get Photoshop or does anyone have a suggestion that works in Lightroom?

Have you tried OnOne's PhotoFrame plug-in? You can operate that out of LR. Although, that might be what you mean by layering in PS. Not sure how/if the plug-in works w/o PS. What I've found simpler is to take one of the photoframes I like in PS and fit it to the size I want and save it as a png file. Even if you don't have PS, if you can create a png elsewhere with the necessary transparency, that would work. LR will let you use png files as overlays in the identity plate part of the Print module. LR might protest that the file is too big, but seems to take them anyway. I've only needed up to a 12x14 size, but it works great and is quicker than a plug-in.

  • How do I create a "frame" around a picture?

I use iphoto for stills then send to Garage Band to add the music track for podcast. I want to add an area on the bottom and on right side of the photo for text or graphics. I want this to be static even though the photo will change. Any suggestions on how this can be done?

In this case I think your only option is to create the frame as part of the picture for each image. Working with GB, or any other program which produces embedded images in podcasts, there is no way to do it in that program as there are in web pages.
I don't know what facilities of this sort iPhoto offers. Your best bet would probably be GraphicConverter, though there are other image editors which will give you the ability to manipulate the image, in particular Photoshop Elements 6 has various enhancement options for picture, probably including frames.

  • Rotate photo frames on a page

    hi all
im not sure if this is possible, but my problem is, when i have a landscape photoframe on a page (any template, iphoto 08) and i drop a photo that has been taken in portrait, the frame automatically adjusts.
this is cool for most cases, but sometimes i'd like to keep the photo frame landscape and just have the photo 'cropped' in the frame.
is there any way to 'lock' photo frames to not adjust to the orientation of the photo?
    thanks!
    Sammy

    Sammy:
I've not hear of any way to lock a frame so the photo gets cropped from landscape to portrait. You'll have to do the cropping in iPhoto to make it a portrait oriented image.
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Any photoframe that can play .mov files, because that's the only way to get a Slideshow out of iPhoto - by using the File -> Export command to make a Quicktime Movie.
