Create profiles in airport express (latest version 7.5)

Hey,
Is it still possible to create 'profiles' in the airport express (latest version 7.5) ??
I can't find this anymore. I would like to create a profile to use the AE in the hotel when travelling.
I would just have to travel with my ipad
Thx.
Greetings from Belgium
Rubert

Using firmware 7.5.2 with AirPort Utility 5.5.2, the "Profiles" feature is accessed as follows:
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Do not look in the center of the screen.
Click the Base Station menu item that is located at the uppermost top of the computer screen in the same toolbar as the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Select Manage Profiles

  • Airport Express (latest version) not connectable after waking Macbook

Hey Guys, my Airport Express (latest version) is not connectable via airplay, when I want to connect after I shut down my Mac for a while. Since now I always solved the problem with a reboot of the airport. Is there another opportunity to avoid this problem?

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "All Items" for Category.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
    System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

Per chance is your AirPort Express an 802.11g model? If so, you will need to use AirPort Utility v5.6 to administer it. However, this version will not install under OS X Mountain Lion without a workaround.
The following is one of those workarounds:
Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:
If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
    Run Pacifist.
Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.
You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.

  • Airport Express (g version) & Time Capsule (n version) integration question

I currently have an Airport Express (g version). When I add my new Time Capsule (with n), will my iMac Intel duo (with n), pick the wireless feed from the Time Capsule or the slower Airport Express? Is there some way to designate the Time Capsule? And in this mix, I have a 12" Powerbook.

It's not the actual posted speeds that limit the speed of a network, but the technology with which the devices are connecting. So, an 802.11n network will be dragged down to 802.11g speeds if an 802.11g client joins. Whether or not this client is getting the full 54 Mbps out of the connection, other n clients joining the network will be at 802.11g speeds. They may be getting the full 54 Mbps even if the g client is getting, let's say, 48 Mbps out of his connection. This is because the 802.11n router has to go down to the lowest common denominator (802.11g) for all connected devices to work.
As for your initial question, I'd highly suggest setting your Time Capsule to 802.11n only 5 GHz as the main router, and hardwire your Express having it set up as an 802.11b/g bridge for b/g devices. This means your n devices get n speeds and g devices don't slow things down. This is called a dual band setup, and each band will have it's own unique SSID, so n devices can't "accidentally" switch over to the b/g network, or vice versa.

  • Profiles on Airport Express

I've got an Airport Extreme base station at home with an Airport Express in another room. I have my Xbox 360 connected to the Express using the WDS settings.
I am going to be traveling for a bit and want to take my Airport Express on the road with me, but don't want to go through the hassle of re-setting up the Express back to the WDS mode when I get back. (It really was quite a headache getting that set up).
I was told it's possible to save different configurations in the Express so I can basically just plug it back in when I get home and not have to re-configure it. I can't seem to find any info on this on the support site here. Is this possible, and if so, how is it done?
    Thanks

But I am confused as to whether it is possible to do this with the Airport Express (802.11n) as some people say that you cannot do this, whilst others say you can.
Like the earlier 802.11b/g version, the new 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) allow you to save up to five configuration profiles.
    To create a new profile:
o Open AirPort Utility, select your AXn from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
o From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
o Click "+" to create a new profile; give it a name, and then, click OK.
o Set options, such as network name, passwords, Internet connection method, etc.
o When done setting the options, click Update.
    To switch profiles:
o Open the AirPort Utility, select your AXn from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
o From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
o Click on the desired profile, and then, click OK to apply the new profile and restart the AXn.
Just remember to switch to the desired configuration profile before removing power from the AXn.

  • How can I use Airport Express (2004 version) ethernet port?

I am using a Time Capsule to access the internet. Now I would like to use my old AE to "root" that internet connection via the ethernet port to my WD HD TV Live (or Notebook w/o wifi).
I know that it is possible with the newer airport express version coz a friend has it setup. But I could not make it work with the AE 2004.
The latest available firmware is 6.5.3 while on the AE 2008 it is 7.5.2
    Any suggestions?

dirk2gently, welcome to the discussion area!
Unfortunately, your older version of the AirPort Express does not have the capability to "extend a wireless network", so you'll need to use the 802.11n version of the AirPort Express to do what you want to do.

  • Switching profiles in Airport Express

I have an old airport express (1st gen) that allows me to use multiple profiles (I use it at home to extend my wireless network and have a travel profile to create a wifi network). Do I need to use my computer to change the profile before unplugging the airport express at home and taking it with me wherever I am going, or will it switch automatically when I connect it to an ethernet cable, and back to extend my netword when I plug it back at home? This is not so easy now because I can only manage profiles with Airport Utility 5.6, which I only downloaded at my desktop but do not have in my notebook, ipad or iphone. Thanks

Yes. The Express will not automatically change from one stored profile to another, so you must switch profiles yourself.
This is not so easy now because I can only manage profiles with Airport Utility 5.6,
That is a moot point since a first generation Express requires AU 5.6 anyway.

  • Problem with surfboard seg6580 & Airport Express (latest gen)

I can wiressly connect and iPad and Apple TV (latest models) to the internet but I cant to the same with the Airport Express.

    Welcome to the discussions, Matt!
"Airport Utility was unable to find your AirPort device after restarting. The setting for this AirPort device was successfully updated, but there was a problem in joining the network or the Airport device."
This error occurs when the AirPort Express does not receive the correct information to join the wireless network. The settings that you provided were stored successfully on the AirPort Express...what the message does not tell you is that unfortunately they were not the right settings. It's almost always a security setting that causes this error.
Please go into your wireless router and locate the settings page. We need to know the exact type of wireless security that your router is using. When we have this information, we should be able to recommend a compatible setting for the AirPort Express or another setting on your wireless router that will allow a successful connection.

  • Can i connect an airport extreme (us version) with a new airport express (euro version) ?

Hi, I lived in the USA for a while and moved back to Europe.
I have an airport extreme (US purchased) which i would like to link with a new airport express (EURO purchased) in order to extent my network.
    Is this possible ?
I have multiple problems doing so, which leads me to believe the US and EURO product might not be compatible.
Thx for your kind assistance, G.

Connecting routers wirelessly to extend a wireless network is known as a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). Although AirPorts can extend other AirPorts in a WDS, they only work with a few non-AirPort ones...like some Linksys models.
Here are a few articles on the subject:
    - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607414
    - http://rgbdream.com/?p=44
Another option, although maybe not as practical in your circumstance, is to connect the AirPort base directly using an Ethernet cable to the Linksys. Then setting up the AirPort as a bridge.

  • Does Airport Extreme (latest version) work with Netgear DM111P

Does anyone know - will the latest Airport Extreme work with a Netgear DM111P?
If so, great. If not, what is the recommend modem to go for?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Matt

So, all I need to do is to disable wireless on my BT Home Hub?
Not necessarily. You could run two separate wireless networks, dedicating one to 802.11b/g clients (BT) & another to 802.11n clients (AEBSn). With the AEBSn bridged, clients on either network can still "see" each other for sharing.
How easy is it to set up a bridge on Airport Extreme?
Very; you would just need to use the AirPort Utility to make, at least, as single setting change to do so. (ref: Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode))
And also, will using my BT Home Hub instead of say a Netgear Modem slow my overall internet connection / wireless speed down?
Your Internet connection speed is not controlled by the modem. Instead, it controlled by your ISP and affected by the current Internet traffic conditions. However; the router does affect the local network speeds.
    Happy New Year!

  • TFS 2010 Branching - Is it possible to create a child branch with latest version of specific code alone from parent branch?

    Hi,
    QUERY:
I've  'MAIN' code base as parent branch.
From 'MAIN' parent branch, I need to create multiple child 'Development' branches (Dev1, Dev2,etc..) for consecutive releases.
I don't want Child branch creating with entire code from Parent branch. i.e Each DEVELOPMENT branch should not be a full branch of MAIN.
Is it possible to create child branches with specific code from Parent.
    For example:
    MAIN  -> Parent branch contain Project1, Project2,...........Project10.
DEV1  -> Child branch which contains Project2 and Project3 alone.
    DEV2  -> Child branch which contains Project2, Project5, Project6, Project7, Project8 alone.
    NOTE:
I'm trying to create a 'Basic branching Plan' to maintain the Source Code in TFS, for consecutive release with concurrent development.
    i.e
    MAIN   <--- FI & RI ----->  Dev1, Dev2, Dev3
    MAIN  <------- RI alone ---| Release1, Release2, Release3
I'm new to TFS, please advice for the above mentioned branching specific query.
Also, if possible, please suggest me the best branching strategy according to my need.
    Regards,
    Riswan Babu

    Hi Riswan,
It's unavailable to branch a folder or team project partly, it always copying the same source code from its parent when you create a branch in your team project. For you requirement, you might try the methods below to see if it works for you:
    1. Since the DEV1 and DEV2 have different, you can have two folders(like MAIN) in your team project and each folder include the projects/solutions you need. No need to create two branches that include different projects
    2. Create two branches from Main, and delete the additional projects that you want to keep. Then develop with the branches separately.
    3. Or create the branches from Main but keep all the content, just modify the projects you need in each branch. The difference will merge back in root branch if you need to merge back finally.
For release, you can create sub-branches from the two branches you created as you requirement. And you can check the links below for more information about branching and merging:

  • Following the help instructions I manually copied my bookmarks but windows 7 on my new computer doesn't recognize the .json file created, both computers have the latest version of Firefox.

    windows 7, latest firefox browser

Windows doesn't have any program association for .json files, but Firefox still should be able to import them.
    Try:
    orange Firefox button > Bookmarks<br>
    ''or''<br>
Bookmarks menu > Show All Bookmarks
On the top bar, there should be three menus, Organize, Views, and Import and Backup. The third one is the one you want.
Import and Backup > Restore > Choose file
    Does that work?

  • My Airport Express ethernet port is not working

I recently purchased a refurb Airport Express (latest version) to extend my home wifi.  Extending the network works fine.  I then tried to set it up as a wireless bridge to my new AV receiver but the receiver would not connect -- no IP address, nada zip.  I had changed the settings to join a wireless network and checked allow ethernet client, rebooted the express several times, even tried a hard reset.  I connected two laptops using a spare ethernet cable.  The won't connect either.  It keeps trying to connect, but it does not succeed.  Am i doing something wrong or does the refurb unit have a dead ethernet port.  I would appreciate any help you can provide.

When extending the network, my wireless clients get an ip.  The Express is just acting as a pass through the router.  The laptop I am typing this on is getting its signal from Express.
When I change the configuration to have the express function as a wireless bridge to my new AV receiver, nothing.  No IP, no connectivity of any kind.  I then tried in with this laptop (Win 7 HP) and my wife's MacBook Pro.  No connection.  It keeps trying, it goes through an identifying cycle but then says no cable connected.  I have tried different cables and still nothing.  Are there any other settings in the airport utility that I am supposed to change beside the wireless tab where I set it as join the network and allow ethernet clients.  I retyped the WPA2 password just in case.  I'm stumped and would appreciate any assistance.

  • Airport Express and HP F4180 All in One Printer

    Hi
I just bought an Apple Airport Express to connect my F4180 to my wireless home network. This F4180 used to be connected directly via USB to my Vista PC and was available to the other laptops by sharing the printer. This worked ok, but I always had to start this specific computer to make the F4180 available for the other laptops.
After installing the Airport Express and Bonjour everything seemed perfect, but after the first print I noticed that only 60% of the page was printed and an error occured. I tried everything, installing, reinstalling, deleting, reading forums, helpdesks, etc, etc, but did not find an answer.
    Does anyone have a clue?
    Thanx in advance

    Apple Airport Express (latest version),
    Apple Bonjour (latest version),

This combination SHOULD work but it often does not.  I have replaced several base routers from non-Airport to Airport and resolved issues like this - USB printers, AirPlay issues, etc.  Its the only way I know how to make it work, sorry.
