Create Recovery Disc

Hi,
I deleted the Factory Settings Recovery on C (~ 7 GB or so), and now I want to create a recovery media. I WANT TO RE-INSTALL WIN7 after using the machine for years.
I always receive an error message window while trying to make such a disc.
"The files required by this program cannot be found"
Do you know how to fix this issue and create a factory settings recovery disc?
Thanks a lot

If you deleted the recovery partition then you deleted the files needed to create the recovery media.
I am pretty sure on this.  Without the required files you are not going to be able to creat the recovery media on that machine.
Only options would be to get ahold of a Windows 7 DVD or order the recovery media from lenovo, please see this link for more info:

Personally, I would get a 16gig USB thumb drive and put your recovery on it.  It eliminates having to swap disks during recovery and it's easy to store.  I've used mine several times and it's worked perfectly every time.

I have a Verbatim 2TB external USB 3.0 drive plugged into the PC.  It's used for both my weekly image backups as well as my nightly data backups.  I have one of these on EACH machine in my environment, for backups local to that machine.  I also use them on machines I build for friends and family, as everybody needs a backup system for "priceless data".
Actually, to be a bit more complete, my "data" backups consists of two parts: (1) 1st-of-the-month FULL backups of all my data, and (2) nightly INCREMENTAL backups which handles anything created/changed in the past 24 hours.  Thus a "backup set" consists of the beginning FULL backup coupled with the ever-growing throughout-the-month set of nightly INCREMENTAL backups.
NovaBACKUP can handle all of this if you need to recover something, so you yourself don't need to know exactly which backup file your file is located on.  You simply identify the folder/file(s) you wish to recover, and the AS-OF date you want for that file (with "as of the latest version available" being the default).  If you want to recover an older version than the most current version, you simply slide a GUI time-slider backwards until you arrive at the as-of date you desire.  NovaBACKUP then figures out where the most current version is AS OF THE DESIRED DATE, and accesses that one-or-more backup files in order to complete your task.
I retain multiple "backup sets" (going back 4 complete months), so I can recover any folder/file(s) I had available on any specific night during the past 4 months.  Most commonly of course it's typically "get me the most current version available as of last night", but just in case that version is corrupt or I truly want an earlier version, I can get it easily.

  • "Recovery partition not found" when trying to creat recovery discs.

I received the following error message when trying to create recovery discs for the first time "recovery partition not found"  HP G61 401SA Notebook and it is a couple of years old and has windows 7 as th OS.
I specifically purchased DVD-R discs for the disc creation, which was advised from HP site was the only disc suitable.
Am I doing something incorrect or is there an issue?
Is this why I am unable to also create a back up - are the two things related?

One more thing, could you advise on how much space the recovery might be approximately - I will need to make sure a USB has enough memory available. Take another look at the disk management window. The partition sizes are visible in the descriptions. My HP loaner has a large recovery partition at >20GB. That mean I had to use a 32GB usb flash drive Most others are smaller and a 16GB usb flash drive will suffice.

Recovery partition is meant to be used on a working system, it can however be used in a different manner but is difficult for most people unless you are a computer geek of sorts.
See this thread on how someone used the files from the restore partition to recover to a new hard drive, you would need another working Windows PC to do this.

  • Create Recovery Disc Files on External Hard Drive? IdeaCentre K 330B (Desktop)

Is it possible to create recovery disc files on an external hard drive?  I tried using the Lenovo Recovery System from the Start menu (Windows 7) but it says it requires 30 DVDs.  My external hard drive is connected, but it doesn't display in the drive drop-down.  (I'm not a hard drive person...)

I don't recall if the original OKR that came with my K330B could back up to the external drives, but I did a clean install Win 7, and download the OneKey Recoery 7 from Lenono.  The 'new' OKR 7 does allow the external had drifve back up.

  • Problem creating Recovery Discs with HP Probook 4530s Notebook PC.

I have a HP ProBook 4530s Notebook computer my daughter gave me. It is 5 months out of warranty. I had to recover it using Recovery Manager and the recovery partition.  The OS is W7 Home Premium 64 bit.
An HP support document says that I can create Windows 7 recovery discs using DVD-R media. It says to click Start, then All Programs, then Recovery Manager.
The problem is there is no Recovery Manager in All Programs. I want to create recovery discs instead of relying on the recovery partition.
I called HP and they had no explanation. I asked them if the instructions were wrong or were they right but for some reason Recovery Manager was missing from All Programs. All they could tell me is to recover it using the recovery partition by restarting the computer and then pushing F11 for the Recovery Manager. That works to recover the computer but NOT to create recovery discs.
Is there any way to create Recovery discs?

    Hi
Not without the recovery manager, which is not included on every HP business notebook.
My HP Elitebook 6930p came with a recovery partition but no recovery disks, recovery manager program to make recovery disks.
    And it cannot be downloaded.
If you live in the USA, call HP at this number, 1-800-334-5144 and order a set of recovery disks.
You will need to provide the model number and serial number to the customer support rep.
Since the notebook is out of warranty, there will be a charge of $10 for the set of recovery disks.

  • Error while creating recovery discs on HP Pavilion p7-1147b Win7

While creating the 2nd of 3 ea. system recovery discs, I get an error message during the "verifying disc" phase that terminates the process.  I'm using high quality DVD+R 4.7gb discs and have tried several brands.  I had same problem on the 1st disc, but it finally finished after 3 tries - now I can't get the 2nd disc completed to get to the final one.  The DVD burner seems to work fine for other applications. I really don't want to purchase these recovery discs from HP.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Try creating the rest of the Recovery Discs in Safe Mode as follows.
Shut down the PC.  Tap away at f8 as you start the PC to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  When windows has fully loaded in this mode, launch the recovery disc creator application and see if you can complete the creation of your discs in this way.
To exit Safe Mode, just restart the PC and Windows will boot normally.
If this still fails to create a viable set of Recovery Discs and you are within your warranty period, call HP ( the telephone numbers can be found on the relevant link below ) and explain that the Recovery Media Creator application fails to create a viable set of recovery discs and request that they send you a free replacement set.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

  • Question about swapping Hard-Drives/Creating Recovery Discs

I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite C655-S5082, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit OEM Operating System already installed on it so it did NOT come with an Installation or Recovery disc.
My problem here is two-fold... First I would like to change the hardware on the PC by changing Hard-Drives from the one that came with the laptop to a large capacity one however since the laptop came with the Operating System already installed onto it I can not install it onto the new Hard-Drive (which for all further purposed we will call Hard-Drive B) now I thought that I could create the recovery discs using Toshiba's Recovery Media Center to create the 4 DVDs however I do not even know if this will help at all since Hard-Drive B does not have a recovery partition on it.
This however is where my second problem comes into play, when I try to create the recovery discs using the Recovery Media Center I insert the DVD and begin the burning process, however about 75% of the way through the first disc the program slows down and a window pops up asking me if I would like to open the disc with Windows Explorer as if it has just recognized the disc again, I exit out of this and it comes up a few minutes later with an error code of 020150-20-0000000 and a message stating it can not read a file located within the ZZImages directory and then crashes, freezes and I have to end the process via the Task Manager then eject the disc via Windows Explorer 'My Computer' link.
As you can see my problem is two fold so my questions to the Toshiba Support Team/Administration are...
    1. If I insert the new HDD into the laptop and begin using the recovery discs created via the Recovery Media Center will it be able to install the OS to that HDD and allow the OEM Product Key to be used to verify the OS?
    2. If I can do the above process how do I fix the Recovery Media Center application from crashing and effectively ruining my DVD's, so that I may create the proper recovery dics?
    3. If I can't do the above process due to the Recovery Partitions not being located on that new Hard Drive is there a way to copy and or transfer that Recovery Partition to the new Hard Drive so that the recovery discs do work?
    4. If neither of the above processes work will Toshiba be willing to send me a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit OEM Installation disc via the mail or the .iso/.img file of the disc via e-mail so that I may burn them to a disc myself and install the OS onto the new Hard Drive?
I do have the appropriate Product ID/Product Key for the OEM OS as well as the Serial Number of the specific laptop itself. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you!

create the recovery discs ... comes up a few minutes later with an error code
This sometimes occurs because of the media. Try using a disc from a different source.
Follow the instructions in the section Creating recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 68 of the User's Guide.
       Satellite C640/C650 Series User’s Guide
I do not even know if this will help at all since Hard-Drive B does not have a recovery partition on it
It doesn't make any difference what's on hard drive B. All of it will be replaced.
For this, see the section Restoring from recovery DVDs/media, which begins on p. 71 of the User's Guide. You want to recover to "out-of-box state."
After you have restored to the new hard disk, it will contain everything that the original had, including even all the recovery partitions. So you will even be able to burn recovery discs again from the new hard drive.
    ..the OEM Product Key
The version of Windows which is restored (not installed) to the new hard drive is pre-activated. You won't need to fool around with the product key.
..will Toshiba be willing to send me a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit OEM Installation disc
If all else fails, you can always order recovery discs from Toshiba directly.

Your questions indicate that you do not understand the procedure above. If my explanation is insufficient, please feel free to ask for clarification.

    1) I typed Start > Search > "Recovery" but it was not installed.
    2) I  ran the HP Software Setup to check recommended and optional HP applications. HP Recovery Manager was not there.
    3) I downloaded HP Recovery Manager for Windows 7 and ran the installation
    I accepted the default folder.
    C:\SWSetup\sp45415

  • How to create recovery disc that have factory default in H320?

Hi I just bought a ideacentre H320. I want to prepare recovery discs, but when I do so, I am only given the option to backup the "current system". I did not see option in such as "Factory Default Recovery Disc" as I see in OneKey Recovery 7.0 (Mine only come with something similar called "Lenovo Rescue System 3.0".
But I don't want to back up the current system, I want to get the recovery disc to have factory image, so when I restore, it will be like I just open the the new pc from the box. How can I do that? (I know you can achieve the same thing through the "Service partition" but what if the harddisk is corrupted and you lost the partition?)
Is there any way to backup the service partition, so when I do something like upgrade Hard drive, I will not loose the ability to return my pc to factory default? Thanks.

Hi fongpwf and welcome to the community,
In figure 14, it says "Create a bootable recovery disc from system backup or factory default image file."
Are you saying that if you click the button to create the recovery discs that it only gives you the option of creating it from the system backup?
