Create RFC connection during an Ecatt

hey guys
can anyone send me a document or explain me the steps to create an RFC connection when we create an ECatt in parent and child clients .

Hi Parag,
Creating an RFC connection should be done through SM59.
In SECATT.,
1. Create System Data Container
2 .Give title in the attributes
3. In System Data, name the target system
4. Specify a RFC destination that links or connects to the target system.

Hi Friends,
I have to create rfc connection in BI.
I have one client in BI ie302 and two cliwnt in Dev ie101 and 151.
Now I have one connection which is working fine ie 302 to 101.
NO my requirment is to create another connecitons ie 302 to 151.
Kindly sugest if it is feasible and is there any specific settings for the same.
I tried but at a time only one connection is working fine.

Hi,
Can you check if there is any other user ID specified in "BW user for ALE".
To check, Go to transaction RSA1 --> Settings --> Global Settings.
If you find a different user id there, then specify the correct BW user id there.
Please refer to OSS Note 410952 for details.

Unable to create RFC connections

I got a message to update a managed system. I start managed system configuration and select the affected system, configure system step 3 connect managed system. At this point I get an error stating "Error when opening and RFC connection (lb: Hostname or service of the message server unknown" I have tried pinging the system by hostname from the solution manager server and it pings fine. I ran a connection test from the Solution Manager server to the managed system using the one RFC connection available and it connects well also. When I look in the work directory there is an error message repeating the above. Not sure what else I can look at there, I entered the system into the HOSTS file on the solution manager server to see if it made a difference it doesn't. Attached is the entry in the DEV_RFC log from the work directory it won't paste into the question for some reason

For the affected system i would like to check the SAPOSS connection on the specific system first with OSS1 tranx.Here i suppose on testing SAPOSS connection on the affected system you'll get the error
(lb: Hostname or service of the message server unknown)
Kindly share the OSS1 configurations screenshot( If possible) at affected system and confirm the SAPOSS connectivity on same system.

rfc can be created in transaction se37.
to cerate YOUR RFC follow following steps.
1. goto transaction se37.
2. IN ATTRIBUTES tab select remote enabled radio button.
2. enter the fm name and press create.
3. in import tab specify the fields you want to pass as input to fm and can make field optional as well by pressing optional checkbox.
4.under export tab specify fields you want fm to return.
5. under tables specify tables u want to use or change.
6. under source code write code for your fm.
7. activate .

Error in the RFC Connection

Hi Expert,
First, I'm sorry if I post in the wrong thread.
I have a problem when creating RFC Connection. I want to create RFC Connection between BW systems to R/3 System in SM59.
I already insert the right IP Address to the target system, but when I test the connection, I got this error :
host name 'SAP-BO-01' unknown / CPI-C error CM_PRODUCT_SPECIFIC_ERROR
I already test the connection from BW to R/3 and vice versa, using ping in command prompt, and I got no problem. Also, I already create a log on to the target system, and it was successful, but the RFC Connection still error.
Did you have any clue or solution about this?

Do you have mapping in the host file in the server? ask you basis team to check that.
If you can ping the server, that means connection is fine, only thing is there might be some entry missing in hosts or services file in the server.
During creation of RFC connection you can directly use the IP address also. as you said you are able to ping the server that means you got to know the IP address. Now use the below command to know the exact hostname.
ping -a <IP_ADDRESS>

RFC connection from SAP Data services to SAP ECC

We have data services set up in linux machine. I am trying to set up RFC connection between data services and SAP ECC.
From data management console after creating RFC connection i am getting "RFC_bad_connection" error message. Username , password, system number, hostname and client is working from SAP GUI and has all the authorizations. SAP gateway and service is name is correct.
Did anyone had similar issue and what was the solution. Do we have start the RFC connection from linux data services machine, i didn't see any sh executable to do so.

About soulation manager 4.0, I got configuration guide to setup "Real time system Monitoring"
as per user guide -> create RFC connection and setup system monitoring, it make me little bit confousing
currently Solution manager setup for earlyWatch report and works fine.
WHAT I WANT ?
To seutp/configuration "REAL TIME SYSTEM MONITORING" for XI 3.0 and CCMS monitoring in Solution manager
T-code: SMSY shows this screen:-
There are 5 different types of Tab after apply SMSY
1. Landscape Components
2. Database
3. System Group and Logical Components
4. Product Definitions
5. Overview
I am not sure where I create RFC connection and what value will i put in it?
1. Landscape components shows under: all others server name list
   SERVER
     shows server host name: (r5wxw0) and right side windows shows
     data source RFC
     and Technical Data Tab shows all others value (that system I like to monitor)
2. DataBASE (all others application server name)
     IDV
       Header Data Tab
       Data Source: TMS/RFC
3. System Group and Logical Components (under)
   Project Landscapes
   Solution Landscape - operation
   Logical components
4. Product Definitions (under)
   lot of product list
5. Overview
     Server
     Database
     Systems
Now where sould I go to configure CCMS monitoring ?

Hi user issue2008 issue
actually i can't connect to solman, but i think it was under 3.
When you select a component, i.e. Dev R/3 or so you should have several clients.
There you can define RFCs and also there you can define Solution Monitoring.
But I think there should be already RFC-Destinations, when you had configured the EWA.
Then you should check the client with the RFC-Destination and Checking Destination.
In Edit-mode you can check the box for Solution Monitoring and save and ok.
After that it should be activated.

Regarding RFC connection in File to IDOC Scenario

I was configuring file to Idoc Scenario, i have made all the required configurations in SLD, IR and ID, in XI system and in R/3 System. i have created RFC connection from XI to R/3 system, and its working fine. i have created an Partner profile in WE20 with sender file system name with inbound parameters. But still i am getting error as EDI Partner Profile not defined in WE05- iDOC ADDED WITH ERRORS. Do we need to create an RFC connection from R/3 system to XI for file to Idoc Scenario
!!! Note: RFC connection from R/3 system to XI is not working, will this be a problem for file to idoc scenario. !!!

Hi Varun
Follow these steps
First - Maintain the Sender R/3 System:
SM59 : Create a RFC destination to XI
WE21 : Create a TRFC Port ->Specify the RFC Destination Created
BD54 : Create a Logical System for the Idoc Receiver
WE20 : Create Partner Profile ->Maintain Outbound and the Inbound Parameters
Second - Log on to XI System:
SM59 : RFC Destination for Sender System
IDX1 : Create the port to get Idoc Metadata from Sender System ( The Port Name must match the port name in the idoc header - Usually in format SAP<System ID>. eg. SAPID1 [Optional Step. Not mandatory]
IDX2 : Maintain the Idoc Metadata. This is needed only by XI, and not by other SAP systems. IDX2 is needed because XI needs to construct IDoc-XML from the IDoc. No other SAP system needs to do that.

we have installed SCM Abap stack and SCM java stack on same system within single database.when i create rfc connection AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER from SCM Java stack to SCM Abap Stack its working fine,but when i am configuring same from SCM Abap to SCM Java using SM59 its giving error.

to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
Enter the required data on the page:
system type: ABAP
host name: FQDN
System Nr: your instance number
client (of the productive client)
and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).
the click next
On the final screen, click finish.
You have now SSO setup between the ABAP and Java stacks. To configure SSO to accept java saplogontickets on ABAP see:

RFC connection problem in ECC 4.7 and ECC 6.0

Hello friends,
Created RFC connection in 4.7 version of SAP and used it in a java program. (STFC_connection) was the function module used.
it all worked fine. Later when i tried the same thing in ECC 6.0 it failed and throws communication_failure exception .
please guide me in this issue.

Check the Unicode/Non unicode status in MDMP&UNICODE tab present in transaction SM59 while chking the connection.
if your ECC6.0 is unicode system then you need to check the radio button present for Unicode in MDMP&UNICODE tab.

RFC Connection cannot be opened

Dear Gurus,
                 Regards.We got a situation where,we created RFC Connection both in R3 and BW systems and the connection test in SM59 confirmed the connections were setup fine(happened lastweek).we were able to create the Sourcesystem aswell.But today,when we checked the RFC Connection the system throwed the follow error:----
ERROR: Partner not reached
Detail   :NiP Connection.
Component: NI (Network Interface)
Error Text :WSAENOBUFS : No Buffer Space Available
Return Code : -10.
It would be great if someone can taketime to help me out here...

              Thanks for that.Actually the basis applied patches for the source system on saturday and the connection was setup between R3 and BW was done on Friday.I guess we need to restart the R3 Server and check the connection again....Anyways we would do that and get back.

using tcode - sm59 create rfc connection
run sm59
click on create
RFC Destination : SIDCLNT<client number> i.e SIDCLNT800 ( details of remote system)
Connection type: 3
Description : connection description
under technical settings--.
target host: host name or IP address of remote server
system number : instance number of remote server
under logon & security---
Language : EN
Client : remote client
User : your remote client user
Password : remote user password
save your connection and test
