Create ring tone

how can i create a ringtone from music in ITunes in Garageband. I found a link to an article in one of the discussions but I can't get that to work. It starts by saying "Click the Cycle button..." but it doesn's say how to get the song in ITunes initially. Any help will be really appreciated.

Create Ring tones

I am uusing iTunes 10.1.1.4 and I am trying to create some ringtones. I can set the lenght of the song but when I try to create another format, I get an error message 'protected files cannot be converted'. Does anyone have a remedy for this?

a normal ring tone will usually last for the duration of 30 seconds. you can cut down 30 seconds of your favourite songs and use them as ringtones. that should make it smaller in size and yet allow you to choose the part of the song you like.

It is not possible to make ringtones from music found on Spotify. As for the "unlock music" part of your question, I am afraid that you will have to clarify what you mean. Hope this at least helped a bit.

Repeated requests to "Sign In" to create a Ring Tone

In trying to create a ring tone in iTunes, I am asked to "Sign in to create ring tones from the iTunes store". I am already signed in, but I type in my password anyway. After clicking the "Sign In" button, I am asked again to sign in. iTunes never accepts my sign in request. I am typing the correct password and don't know what to do.
I went to a local Apple Store, but the "genius" could not help. He said it shouldn't do that and that I should send an eMail to iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem and fixed it. I did many things at once, so I am not sure what the correct step(s) was/were. Nevertheless, here they are:
1. Make sure you didn't purchase the song using a different iTunes account. I forgot about an older account that I had. Sign into that account and make sure all your credit card/email data is up to date.
2. De-authorize your computer, reboot the computer, and then restart iTunes and authorize the computer again.
3. Sign into your iTunes account, make sure the info is up to date and that you have agreed to the terms of service. (This seems to get reset when an old account is used and you have since upgraded to a newer iTunes program.)
4. Make sure that the songs you are trying to use were indeed purchased aand not your own ripped music.

Basic Ring Tones on iPhone are Very Poor

As a business professional I am very pleased to pull out my iPhone and show it to other business associates. However, I am extremly dissapointed in the childish assortment of ridiculous ring tone options that are offered on this phone. I understand that a ringtone program was just released yesterday allowing you to create ring tones from iTunes music files.
I don't want my phone playing songs as ring tones while I am trying to conduct a professional business meeting. When will Apple PLEASE allow us to have simple digital phone style ring tones for use on this very fine business tool. I will gladly pay for these ringtones but please remember not all of us want songs for ring tones!!!
Listen to the phones in your offices or check out the ring tone from the phones on the TV show 24. We just want a clean digital sound option for the iPhone.

This is exactly why I refuse to buy an apple TV box - Honestly, I love apple stuff, and understand that its not Apples fault that Movies aren't available to rent outside the US yet, but they really shouldn't offer a product thats not ready to market yet outside the US because one of its major features is crippled. Or at least offer a discount.
Sure, there's other cool things you can use the box for, but exactly why should should we pay the same as the US (well, actually a lot more), when a lot of the cost of the product goes to paying for the R&D and back end maintenance of features we don't get? To be honest, I think its a cheek that its even for sale in the UK at all at the moment.
The iPhone is a bit less of an issue here because ringtones are not such a major feature we're missing out on, but its the same principle at the end of the day, there should be some sort of compensation for every missing feature due to international rights issues - Otherwise we're effectively subbing US customers.

I wouldn't rush out and get the Firmware update without trying the other options...
However, it was the best cure for me also... the patch is a good temporary 'help' though.
If you're thinking about the Firmware update, it's likely to cost you if your phone was supplied by a network, as it will probably have their variant firmware on it, and you ideally want the Generic... Look for your nearest Nokia Service Centre and discuss it with them.

I can save ring tones to my computer

I recently bought ringtone maker for my iPhone 4. The instructions tell me to save the created ring tone to my computer then drag it to iTunes. But every time I try to save it to a file it says ringtone could not be copied. The required file cannot be found. Can any one tell me what I can do to fix this. I feel like I'm wasting my money on the app when I can't use it.

How can I create a new ring tone for my iPhone 4? I followed the Garage Band process and ended up with the ring tone I want as a AAC audio file. It got stored in my iTunes a a song rather than a ring tone. How do I make it a ring tone vs. a song? I tried dragging it t the Ring Tone category at the bottom of the ITunes list, but it won't alloow me to move it?

There's also an easy to use Applescript over at Doug's Applescripts for iTunes. It automates the whole thing. All you do is set the start and stop time on a file in iTuens and run the script. It will do everything else.

Can anyone help me to sort this problem out? I am new to this and cannot create a ring tone from a song that i have purchased. I am logged in to the i tunes store, but i get an error message that says that i can't connect. Several others seem to have posted similar problems but i wondered how i can solve the message and create a ringtone.

I have the exact same problem but have since found in the Itunes help section that you can only create ringtones with songs that have a bell next to them. None of my music has a bell next to it so have been onto Itunes store to seek out a song that has and cant find any.
Help option states to see tunes with a bell, click view, options then tick the ring tones option. This works with songs you have already downloaded but it reckons it works too for Itunes store but it doesnt.
Anyone know how you find out from Itunes store which songs can be created into ringtones?

Tones is the new name for Ringtones. Enable from Edit > Preferences > General tab and sync to your iOS device from the Tones tab when the device is connected.

Actually, I've found that I can sync tones I made of up to at least 40 seconds (0:40 minutes). A 50-second tone would not sync, but a 40-second tone would. Voila!

I purchased Ring Tones - they do not show up on my phone

Turns out all Ernestine Anderson songs are ring tonable. So I bought one, then a ring tone for 1.98...A bell folder appeared, a "ringtone" tab appeared WITH the ring tone I created. I hit apply so I can sync the ringtone into the iPhone, the iPhone says "sync in Progress" then the sync stops with no error messages. I look at my ringtone list in my iPhone....and its not there. The same goofy ring tones it came with.

I am however losing faith in apple products and this is my first apple product.
What is wrong? - I had to authorize it - problem solved (dunno why I had to in the first place but..)

iTunes for some reason un-authorized it so I had to authorize it and it worked.

ITunes 7.4.1 (2)...Not showing and Ring Tone Icons for An Songs...

I have recently upgraded to the newest version of iTunes. However, of the 1,000+ songs I have,
the ring tone icon is not showing up at all to create any ring tones for my iPhone. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

So after my last response, I have now managed to get the Ring tone identifier bar showing possible ring tone songs to show up in iTunes. However, none of my 1,000 + songs have an icon to allow me to make a ring tone.
Any ideas...
