Create "seamless steel pipe" border ???

I'm a real newb on Illustrator - I want to create a border for export to Flash Catalyst that looks like a continuous steel pipe with rounded corners.
I've tried several things and looked all over for examples. It seems that I need to create 2 rectangles, one a bit smaller, group them and then create a clipping mask.
Every time and every which way I try this I end up with the center area showing and the outer area hidden. What I want to end up with is the outer area showing and the inner area hidden.
.. and then still I don't know how to have the desired result have a "3D" look as you would expect of a pipe.
Ideas anyone?

I'm wondering if there is a simple way to create a 1 pt. border on my transparent background. I want this as a "cutting guide", but my "inside edit/stroke" is not working on the transparent b/g.

On a blank layer:
Select > All
Select > Modify > Contract > 1 px
Invert Selection
Edit > Fill with the color of your choice.
It's a bit old school roundabout, but it works.

Create a responsive white border

Hello everyone,
I would like to create a responsive white border (frame?) around my website, just like this example : http://www.dennisadelmann.de/#. I want it to be regular, 20px no matter the browsers dimensions.
After a lot of unsuccessful attempts, i decided to create 4 rectangles with the rectangle tool, place them on the four sides of my page and pin them so they stay in place. It works perfectly, exept for the right border rectangle, wich doesn't want to stay in place.
So, is there any way to make it right? Or any way to deal with that right rebel rectangle?

You could also build a menu for desktop/mobile. Then check browser size with this:
$(window).width();
or use a library like modernizr to check capabilitie (touch for example): http://www.modernizr.com/
You could then use jQuery show/hide to display the appropriate menu.

Create a new PIP

I want to create a new PIP between BRM and Siebel.
Do you know if a simple template exist ? A template like a loopback will be perfect!

To get a good understanding or simplest model of the flow between BRM to Siebel.
Take the existing flow of process integration for product management of Order to Bill PIP.
The Product Management enables you to synchronize and administrate products and discounts between Oracle (BRM) and Siebel (CRM). If you have installed the PIP for communication you need to create a product in BRM. Commit the created product in BRM database which will trigger an event with Product ABM XML message. The productABM message will be delivered to PortalSynchronizeProductABC and track the remaining flow in the BPEL and ESB Console as below.
BRM-->PortalSynchronizeProductABCS(ProductABM)--> SynchronizeItemEBS(ItemEBM)--> SiebelSynchronizeProductABCS(ItemEBM)-->Siebel Web Service(ProductABM)
Follow the above flow and replicate the same scenario with your BPEL and ESB process.

Advice on Creating Pedal Steel Guitar Instrument

Hi, everyone.
I am looking for some advice on creating an authentic Pedal Steel Guitar software instrument. I have all 4 Jam Packs, so would have access to any existing Guitar software instrument. I've played with the Jazz Chorus Electric, Twangy Electric and Clean Electric instruments with varying degrees of success.
The best results have been from starting with the Twangy Electric instrument:

However, the sound is not quite there yet. Not being really familiar with how a Pedal Steel sound is actually created, I have just used trial and error based on what I can hear.
Anyway, if anyone can help out with any Starting out instruments and settings to modify that instrument to get a Pedal Steel sound, I would be very grateful.
BTW - Has anyone compiled a site yet with tips and tricks, or lists of instruments that can be created using the default and Jam Pack instruments? If not, it may be something I may undergo creating!

The problem with pedal steel is that the absolutely unique sound is created through a complex mixture of techniques.
The "steel" slide itself which is effectively a smooth pitch shift.
The volume pedal which gives you the swell effect .
Various other pedals and knee operated levers which change the tunings of the strings.
Even if you get the basic electric sound I'm not sure how you can program all those parameters into the sound.
I guess you could use "expression" in place of the volume control but the pitch shift would be virtually impossible to do as the pitch shift in GB is limited to such a small range. You have to be able to create a smooth slide over more than octave.
If you do find one let us know as I'd love to see how they did it

How do I create a white line border for my video

So I've got standard HD source video with 16:9 aspect ratio (1920 x 1080 pixels) and I've made it "wide screen" by putting black slugs as bands at the top and bottom of the screen. I would now like to place a white line border at the top and bottom of the visible video. How do I do this in FCP? Is there a "draw" like function within FCP similar to those in Microsoft Word or Powerpoint, so that I can draw a line and then define it's colour and width?

if you need to do this often a plugin may also help you to quickly and easily create, reposition and change the width and color of one or more lines. One of these plugins is a free one of mine (actually I have two line genertors available for you).

Creating a jagged edge border---got me stumped???

I know this has got to be an easy one.
I created an image (720x480@300dpi), filled it with a pattern and can't figure out how to cut off the edges----making an irregular border. I want to use this final image (with ragged border) in a video project so the background has to be transparent. In other words, is I want an image with ragged edge border and irregular in shape.......and I want to see that portion only.
I tried using the "cookie cutter" but when I flatten the image, I don't have anything. Using a new image (white) gives me the ragged image centered on a white background.
What's the best way to approach this????

Thanks Barabara, but when I do that, I still get a white background (using the cookie cutter for example).
Detail:
Taking the final "unmerged" image and saving it as a jpeg and then importing it into a video timeline it appears as a image with a irregular ragged border on a white background----since the video timeline is essentially "black" when no video is present.
Not sure if I'm using the right jargon here.
(BTW, I got your book, and it's been a great help)

1. Make circle, choose fill color.
2. Make Swatch of fill color.
3. Copy circle, paste in front
4. Make stroke of several points, align stroke to inside, fill of none.
5. Expand appearance.
6. Apply gradient to ring, color of filled circle (from swatches), +black on one end, –black on the other, rotated –45° or whatever you like.
7. Apply blur to ring as desired.
8. Paste circle in front again, select all, make clipping mask.

dynamic way to create record with pipe delimited

Hi guys,
I got one program currently doing this to create record in a flat txt file
APPEND WA_OUTPUT TO GT_OUTPUT.
Now, client comes back and says they want pipe delimiter ( | ) between each field of record.
So I know I can do something like this.
CONCATENATE WA_OUTPUT-REC1 WA_OUTPUT-REC2 WA_OUTPUT-REC3.....INTO GT_OUTPUT-LINE SEPERATED BY "PIPE".
The thing is, wa_output structure has like hundreds of field, and I do not want to do a long concatenate syntax.
Is there anyway to go around this situation?

Let me get this straight, sorry in advance if I get it wrong.
My work area in my program always has the first field populated since it's record type value and it's hard-coded. I would assume that it would be safe to check if lv_string is initial in the DO loop as is in the original code. What do you think?
In case my work area first field is blank, I did this below?

Using CSS border properties. Create a #container division for your page content.
EXAMPLE CSS:

WaveStudio 7 won't create seamless loops

Wavestudio (7.2.00) introduces a soundless gap at the ends of my loops, not only while using the application, but it even saves the sample with the ga
I tried Audacity afterwards and the loops are completely seamless both while creating them and after I save.
When I play a perfect loop (saved in Audacity) on Windows Media Player, it loops without any significant glitch, but the same perfect loop played in Creative Media Source (5.26.02) has an annoying lag between the end and begining of the loop.
Also in Wavestudio, the recording path in preferences keeps defaulting to "Microphone". When I choose "What U Hear", I want it to stay that way until I change it.

HFR - Tried to create a bottom line / border line on EVERY single page

Currently deal with this issues -
Trying to make my report in HFR to perfect.
I have a report created in HFR. It vary, can run from 2, 3, 4 ,5 pages.
The PROBLEM: at the bottom of each page, there is no line (go across the page) to close that page.

It looks...not too good now.
1. Page break : not working
2. Separeate Grid: Not working
3. Condition formatting: not working
What i have to do is manually output the report into excel and re-formatted it.
Then add the line from excel.
Is there a way in HRF to help this issues resolve??

Please select the Grid in FR Report and you will see the Grid properties on your right side, then you can see the check box of "Auto Size"
If it is selected already then un check it.

Creating expandable (for scrolling) border?

I'm a Dreamweaver newbie, and am having a little trouble with a page border. Basically I want a white boarder to auto expand as I scroll up, or down a page (so it's always around the browser page, no matter where you are in the page).
The body border (I assume it's the body's border to do this) I have at the moment is only covering the top of the page, to the bottom of the footer. Depending on which browser I'm using, I might have another 50-ish pixles following the footer (so the border is like 50 pixles higher than it should be.. instead of the bottom of the page).
I hope this makes sence to someone. Here's the code if that makes it any clearer (I've given a temporary 10px blue border):

Do you mean you want the footer to remain at the bottom of pages? That will happen naturally if you build your content logically from top to bottom and add some dummy text to your pages.

If F5 did that on CS4 for you or someone customize what F5 did. For the standard Photoshop F5 shortcut is to toggle the Brush palette. If you still have that CS4 installation go see what F5 was changed to do. Actions can be assigned to F5 for example. Make sure You have all the actions you had loaded in CS4 loaded. Edit Keyboard Shortcuts can also be used to change F5. I do a lotod screeen captures and use F5 for some function

The case which is missing for me is when I should update an account corresponding to an alternative chart of account (which is normally done via FSP0).
I'm pretty sure that I could not call directly transaction FSP0 (as I did with FS00) according to documentation of rfbisa00. The response could be 'FSP0 not supported'.
Do you think that we could deal with this issue also with RFBISA00 for Tx FSP0?
Or is there another standard code for FSP0?
