Create sequence or title template

Hi everyone,
I'm new to video editting in general. I wanted to create a sequence template (or title template maybe) with effects and a text inside to display several times in my videos. I also want to be able to change the text inside so I can repeat the same design several times, but the important part is that if I want to change for example the background of that I don't want to update all the titles in all the videos.
In other words, is there any way to create a template of something that allows me to:
- Change the text inside of it and repeat it several times in a video
- If I want to change the design of the template, then everywhere I used that template gets updated.

You can do this with nesting.
Add the background video to a sequence. Nest that sequence into another, and add the title on top. Create others in the same way.
You can then nest those title sequences into other sequences. If you want to change the background video, go into the original sequence with that video and every nested sequence that uses it will reflect that change.

So I'm creating a video containing multiple interviews. During the interview, I want to create some text boxes next to the person being interviewed, which contain some of the keywords from the spoken text.

As for now, i'm constantly manually creating rectangles which I have to scale to the text to fit as a proper background. Is there any way to create a title template so that the background scales automatically to the text? So if I would add a line at the bottom, the background/rectangle/... would expand to the correct size?
Hope you can help me, because that could save me hours of work!

and then right click on the title on the timeline which is in the proper position, click "copy", right click on the new title(s) on the timeline and click "paste attributes."

Creating a new title template from a .psd file

We weren't happy with any of the lower thirds that Premiere had for us, so I got one of the people in my office to create a lower third that would look nicer, but now I've just got this .psd image that I don't seem to be able to get into title form.
Its just an image of a thought bubble that says "science tips" and then a darly shaded rectangle with blue text inside of it, but when I try to import the .psd image as a logo in the titler screen it comes up with the thought bubble very washed out and see through ( the thought bubble is white on the inside in the .psd file) and the darkly shaded area doesn't show up at all.
I fell this may be a photoshop error on my part as likely as anything else, but mostly, I'm wondering if bringing it in as a logo is the right way to go?

I like that workflow.
I handle my "custom" Lower-Thirds (or similar) just a bit differently. I create the artwork in PS, and then Import that as an Asset. I'll then do a regular Title for just the text, placing it above the PSD of my graphic. My workflow does mean that I will need to Import that PSD into each Project, but I put a copy into my Common Assets folder, for ease of Importing, as is required. I can also individually animate each element, as is needed. If I wish to animate the Layered elements of the graphic, I'll Import as a Sequence, keeping my Layers, but with Lower-Thirds, I usually end up animating both the graphic and the text as a unit, i.e. the same Keyframing for each of those elements.
Your method will all one to do a full Save_As a Template, and allow for easy changes of the text, as the graphic is but a logo. Neat!

Creating a preset title with animation

Hello all,
I'm trying to create a title (or lower 3rd/name strap to be precise) which can be set up for use on other machines running PPro CS5.
I designed and created everything in After Effects, thinking I could save this as a title preset for Premiere (just like you can with Motion to FCP). I've since learnt that this can't be done (is this right? Am I missing something?). I've almost worked out how to recreate the same animation etc. in Premiere. My question is how do I package or collect the layers and assets into one simple title preset? One which I can save onto other machines for other users without them having to do any fiddly recreation of my animation? Unfortunately I need the text to remain editable, otherwise I'd just hand over a movie or image sequence with an alpha embedded.
I thought this would be a relatively simple job seeing as Motion and FCP have it working so smoothly — After Effects is infinitely better than Motion and Dynamic Link seems too powerful a tool to not be able to make animated title presets somehow possible for Premiere. Hopefully I'm missing something.
I also have no preset titles from Adobe. We downloaded the production premium trail then brought the serials — could this be why I don't have the presets installed? Is it worth reinstalling form the same download link?

The artwork started out as an exported frame from AE, so the positioning, scale and resolution were all perfectly set before coming into PrPro.
I tried a PSD, TIF and PNG, all gave much the same (very poor) results when imported as a logo. I realise I could have tried to create my elements in the titler to start with but the tools seem very limited.
My workaround was to create layered artwork in Photoshop and import them all one by one into the titler as logos, and edit the opacity there. The end product seems ok, with a few tiny alterations to the design, but such an incredibly laborious and seemingly stupid process to get there.
My original brief was to create title templates for non-editors (journalists throwing video clips together) to use without any fiddly workarounds, so I couldn't rely on them to import logos or animations to overlay onto the strap text or anything similar — it all had to be contained in the titler and saved as a preset.
The job's done now, but I find it hard to believe Adobe are so far behind Apple with this kind of thing. As I think I've mentioned previously in this thread, you can save Motion projects as templates for FCP, animations, imported assets and all. I assumed something similar would exist between AE and PrPro, but it either does not or it's very well hidden. That aside (maybe AE, being so much better than Motion, is just too complex to save as a title preset), I find it remarkable that the titler tool is so clunky and limited in what it can do — I can't even get it to import movie files, this is video editing software! I know AE can do everything, I've been working with it for years and I still learn something everyday, but that's no good if you need to make a PrPro title template for someone who doesn't use or even have AE.
I know all my moaning and whinging is useless until I make a feature request, but I'd be very grateful if someone can categorically confirm such features just aren't possible yet or whether I'm at fault and just haven't worked it out properly.

Creation of sequence in etext template

Hi All,
I am creating a custom etext template for a invoice payment which will be forwarded to bank.
The file will be generated for each invoice payment made one at a time.
So, I have a requirement where in need to generate a sequence number in of the fields of the extext template. When the first file is send to bank, the sequence should be 1, for the second run the sequence should display 2 and so on.
Here we cannot use the <RESET AT LEVEL> as RECORD or LEVEL as we need to control the sequence outside the etext template and in the database. So, I believe we should use PERIODIC_SEQUENCE that controls the value in database level.
My question is how to achieve the relation between the database value and the etext template value.
ex:

<RESET AT LEVEL> PERIODIC_SEQUENCE
<INCREMENT BASIS> /outboundtransaction/paymentsequence[sequencename=allrecordsequence]/lastvalue + 1

sequence(allrecordsequence)
The value in the etext template is always generation as 1, as the database record paymentsequence/lastvalue is null.
Here is the user guide notes:
Reset at Level
The reset at level subcommand defines where the sequence resets its starting number. It is a mandatory subcommand. For example, to number the payments in a batch, define the reset at level as Batch. To continue numbering across batches, define the reset level as RequestHeader.
In some cases the sequence is reset outside the template. For example, a periodic sequence may be defined to reset by date. In these cases, the PERIODIC_SEQUENCE keyword is used for the reset at level. The system saves the last sequence number used for a payment file to the database. Outside events control resetting the sequence in the database. For the next payment file run, the sequence number is extracted from the database for the start at number (see start at subcommand).
But the sequence value in the database is not getting incremented.
Appreciate an early response as it is really urgent.

I have developed the solution using the below approach-
Requirement - ( My requirement was a little different to what was mentioned above)
     To generate a sequence number in the e-text template of a invoice payment file.
     In a day when the first file is send to the bank, the sequence should be 1, for the second file the sequence should be 2.
     For the next day run the sequence value should be reset to 1.
Approach 1) Use the IBY_FD_EXTRACT_EXT_PUB hook and Use sequence in the e-text template.
GET_INS_EXT_AGG procedure is called once only for the payment instruction.
It will add XML data element under OutboundPaymentInstruction tag.
Add a new XML tag with the successful count of the formatted payments in a day.
SQL query.

INTO v_payment_count
FROM iby_payments_all a
WHERE UPPER (a.org_name) = <org_name>
AND UPPER (a.payment_profile_sys_name) =

By using a PERIODIC_SEQUENCE it will periodically generate the numbers.
SEQUENCE_NUMBER(RecordsSeq1) is used to generate the number.
I believe we need to have a payment system defined and associate the same to a Payment Process Profile.
Only then can it have association with the last sequence number in the database.
Please correct me if the Approach#2 set up is incorrect.
Since Payment system was not necessary for the payment profile that we have used I have used approach 1
Approach 2 can be used as a guideline :)

Titles templates a different between MAC and Windows

Adobe is very incompetent on delivering content.My company is considering moving to the windows version, so we create this Windows server to host only Premiere Pro CS6. Well, the Titles are not there (trial version), so we download the file, unzip it, and copied it to the right place. But we discover that the CS6 Mac Version has a very different list of titles templates, so we simply cannot do our work in Windows. Furthermore, what several have noticed is true. The window fails to scroll or preview correctly, and the majority of the titles are ugly, not like in the MAC. In fact, it seems like they don't want to offer the same titles in the Trial Version than in the licensed version, at least this is what it looks like. It is a mistake, because how do you evaluate a version without the titles? They have to offer the same exact titles for both operating systems.
The question is, how do we transfer our Title Presets from our MAC Licensed version to the Windoes Trial version?

Convert motion project into title template

I started working on a motion project, not sure what template to use, so I created a standard motion project. After working on the project for about 20 hours, I am now realizing that the title template would probably be the best option for this project even though I am not doing any actual titles. I was able to convert the project to a video effect template, but this is not really what I want. Is there some way to convert this project to a title template? Even if I have to copy/paste everything over to a new project, that would be a lot better than redoing the 20 hours that I've already spent on this thing. Since I can only have one project open at a time, I don't think copy/paste is even possible.

I think this will work for you.
-Select all the groups in your Motion project (or nest them in a single group.
-Drag the group(s) to the Library>Favorites.
-Create a new Final Cut title project with the same settings.
-Drag and Drop the group(s) from the Library>Favorites into the new Final Cut Title project.
Save and enjoy.

Title template that updates all titles if it's changed

In Premiere Pro, can I create a title template that, if I change it, will update all the titles in my project that use that template?

That is one reason that making titles by animating the source text in After Effects comes in handy. You can change anything you want and the text just changes at the right times.

How would I create "bullet point" titles in Premiere CS6, without creating individual titles?

I know you could do it by creating a different title for each line and then manipulating them on the time line but seems like there should be an easier way to do that. Could someone help me out please? Thanks.

It might be possible to achieve that effect without creating individual titles, however creating a stack of titles is the easiest and most strait forward way.
Create a finished screen 1st, with all the elements that will appear by the end of a title sequence. Click the "new title based on current title" button to create a copy, then delete the last title element on the page, then repeat until you are just left with the 1st element that you want to appear on screen.
Overlay them on your timeline in reverse order of creation, and you have your effect.
That should be the easiest way.

Crash rendering sequence with titles, Premiere Pro CC

Just establishing fresh thread for CC from the reply I posted in the Premeire CS6 thread.
Summary with updates:
After adding titles from Premeire's bult in titler, on a 1080/24p sequence containing a mix of 4k R3D and 1080 ProRes 422 files, I received the following error when trying to render *some* of the clip previews with those title overlays:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
Subsequently, Premeire wouldn't actually shut-down, but switch to a recovery file.
Disabling the title on the 2nd layer would result in the underlying video rendering without issue. Trashing media cache files did not remedy the problem.
Exporting video seems to function, though the render/export times have quadrupled from before adding the simple, text-over-video titles to the project. A 15 minute sequence containing 70% 4k raw/30% 1080 ProRes422 and with roughly 3 minutes of title overlays is about an 8 hour render vs. 2 hours without the titles.
System specs 2.53 GHz i5 Macbook Pro, 8GB RAM, OS 10.7.5

Well, certainly one of my sequences (let's call it "A") always causes a crash. Sequence B was NOT causing a crash last week. Today sequence B started crashing (in 7.0). So I updated to 7.01 and tried again. Still crashing (always, now). So I set out to create a new sequence C.
To create sequence C, I opened a successfully completed project from last week. I Saved As... "New Opening Sequences". Next, I cut away every sequence except for the sequence that holds the intro. I did a Project > Remove Unused to get rid of all the footage, titles, etc. Now I had a project that only contained Sequence C and it's linked media. Nothing is offline. Everything is in tact.
Finally, I open the project I need to finish today. I need to add the bumper to the front of the video. So I navigate within the Media Browser to find the "New Opening Sequences" project. I double click. I get the yellow, dynamic link-like loading bar. When the project media, bins and sequences appear, I double-click the sequence I want to impor.... KKKKKEHEHHE!!! Crash.
I'll restart to get you the exact error message...
WOW!!! I just left this window open to go get the exact error message for you. I went through the same steps above. It worked this time. So to answer your question, Sequence C is also hit or miss. This is the first successful attempt today (about 10 previous tries, restarts, etc).
Definitely seems like a bug. Can anyone else reproduce this crash?
P.S. - Perhaps it's significant, perhaps not: In all cases, A, B and C, these sequences have Dynamic Linked footage from After Effects (animations). While they do have some live-action, they are primarily AE animations. This may help you reproduce the crash.
I'm also not running anything unusual. Mainly the OS, a browser, Webroot SecureAnywhere (Anti-virus), Premiere.

Bulk create Project Site using template

Hi,
We have around 1000 projects in our PS2013 environment, and project site is not associated any of them. We have created a new template for project site.
To now create and associate this template with each project (without having to manually publish), we have to use option of managing connected site, but here we can create only one site at a time.
Is there a way for bulk create for multiple projects in one shot?

It might be a little late for this answer but given that template names are fixed most of the time and don't change often, i use powershell to obtain the template ID and simply pass it on in the code to be used at the time of creation

Free Premiere Pro title templates

Hopefully, each of us has people we look up to and admire. My #1 guy in the video world that fits that bill is Tim Kolb. He has been a source of information and inspiration for me since I first started shooting video. Not only that, but he has steered business my way as well.
Tim has a new blog and he is posting free title templates. He is about to release an entirely new type/style library also. He hasn't finalized a price, but my guess is that it will be inexpensive and a real no-brainer. It will likely be something that you buy just because it saves a bunch of time when you start creating titles.

Yes, you're right. I googled free templates for Premiere Pro and After Effects and most of them are for AE. Problem is that a lot of these freebies require you to open up an account or "like" them on Facebook first.

Issues installing Title Templates

I downloaded the Title Templates for Premiere Pro CS6 yesterday and when I opened Premiere Pro to load them, they didn't show up properly. What could I do to resolve this?

(I too am a Cloud Member and my most recent Suite version prior to the cloud is CS3 and I had uninstalled all but Photoshop sometime ago, so I know nothing between CS3 & CS6)

Encore issues seem to have been resolved, finally, but Adobe instructions are still somewhat vague.
Also, here is my post #53 back to Adobe (Chad Baker) concerning the ongoing Pr titles issue.
@Chad...Following the most recent instructions in the document, the title names DO appear in the "new title from template" window. However, there is still a problem with the size of the directory side of the window and/or the scroll bar. The problem can be seen if you grab the scroll bar and pull down, The scrolling begins just below the "classic_full_hd" title name.
Also, the images associated with the various titles are not showing up in the previews. The PNG and PSD files are in the new templates folder, but they are not coming through in the previews OR when you actually create the menu. Most of them just display the menu text and a series of alternating green/red bars.
There are still ongoing issues with the Pr title content and it displaying properly and there has been no further response from Adobe, to my knowledge.

Help with TITLER Template 'Travel Water' which indicates a video background

IN CS3, a titler template 'Travel Water' shows a video background. I don't understand the notation or how to use it. Is the background video? How do I activate it? I tried to use the template as a credits Roll but the background rolls with the text. How do I make the "video" backgound stationary and roll the text?

No time to play at the moment, but I now see the "logo" property for the "graphic" object. etc. Never noticed that!
Easiest fix: delete the text elements on that title. Put it in a lower track in PR. Create a new rolling title that is just text.
If I had time to experiment, I would look at whether you have the logo image active when you set rolling, but I suspect that the PR titler sets a title as still, roll, or crawl, that it won't freeze only one image.
For rolls, I gave up years ago on getting the control I wanted in PR and use Illustrator and AE.
