Create survey/poll with text fields

I want to create a survey in a meeting with text field type answers. How would I do this? I am using the hosted version of Connect and saw some reference to a Presenter add-in for PowerPoint, but don't seem have that. We would like to have fields such as:
Participant information (name, contact information
Suggested future topics
What should I use to do this since the Poll Pod obnly allows for multiple choice or multiple answer options and not key-in fields?

Adobe Presenter 7 is a product sold separately from Adobe Connect. Adobe Presenter can be purchased from many resellers. It is a plug-in for MS Powerpoint and has the ability to upload many times of quizzes and polls in lots of types of formats. You can download a 30 day trial from here:

Adobe Presenter is only available for the Windows platform. MS Powerpoint for Mac does not allow third-party plug-ins like Presenter.

That looks like it should work, but it doesn't.
I opened the PDF I had created from Word in Acrobat (X Pro). Went to File > Properties. Selected "Change Settings". I then enabled "Restrict editing...", set a password, set "Printing Allowed" to "none", "Changes Allowed" to "none", and ensured that "Enable copying of text..." was disabled.
I saved the PDF file, closed Acrobat, opened the PDF in Reader, and I was still able to select text and graphical objects.
I reopened the PDF in Acrobat, and the document summart still shows everything as allowed. When I click on "show details" (from File > Properties) it shows the correct settings.
Any ideas?

How do I create a form with text fields that can continue to multiple pages with out it over lapping

I have created a form in Livecycle and have made every object a sub field. But I am still having the same probably. The text field only continues on to a second page and overlaps the footer I have created at the bottom of the page. I am new to livecycle and have tried a lot of different things to fix this problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Interactive pdf form with text fields. Chinese fonts

Hi All
We have designed an interactive pdf with text fields. We need the text fields to be in a Chinese font. I understand that this cant be done in Indesign (change the inputting font to Chinese) I have moved the file over to Acrobat Pro and used the text property to amend the font to Simsun but when we try it out the font is still in English. Any ideas on how to remedy the problem??

Basically, you need to create a pdf form.
Add a text field to your form.
There you can choose which font your want the text to appear in.
The trick is, when you export from InDesign, in the "Advanced Tab" — set "Subset fonts when percentage…" to 0%, so the whole font embeds.'
I believe there's an option in Acrobat to embed the font as well, but I'm not recalling what it it.
But that will ensure the font appears correctly.

Safari crashes in pages with text field

I had the bugger of a problem with the "Your network settings have been changed by another program" bug (virus?). I solved that by doing the quick-finger return/click settings, duplicate my settings, delete Automatic, and rename my duplicate one "Automatic".
At the same time that this problem occured, I noticed Safari crashing on any page with text fields, which is just about ANY page these days. I've also noticed Skype crashes, and while searching with Spotlight, that periodically crashes also. Firefox works fine, iChat works fine.
These programs are only affected in my main account - I created a new user account and don't have the problems there. But I also don't have access to any of my important files and settings in the new account!
My question is - how can I get functionality in my main account, where all my IMPORTANT files reside?
I have done everything - repairing disk and permissions until my ears bleed, re-re-re-install and archive, virus scans (yes there are), pulling out .plists and library files, reset safari, probably did more damage than good, etc., etc., etc.
I can't figure out what I need to do and it's seriously driving me BUGGY
Any HELP would be greatly appreciated, (as I see a lot of mac problems in these forums but very few solutions).

Well, thanks for ignoring my plea for help all! I'll mark this as "ANSWERED" even though no answers or suggestions have been offered in over 3 days. I'll figure it out by myself.
The snarkiness in my initial post was because, as I peruse these forums for answers, I see a lot of threads that have no conclusion - either the person asking the question found an answer and never reported back to tell us what actually worked, or their Mac died completely, leaving them unable to post about it.
I also see a lot of uninformed posts saying things like "There are absolutely NO viruses for the Mac" or "the Mac OS is impenetrable to attacks". Try to be informed before you attempt to be helpful.
I was also quite upset that it took me 3 days trying to figure out what info was needed to access the forums here. I don't use my "Apple ID" on a daily basis, in fact, I can't recall ever using it for anything, so it was a real effort to get in here and actually ASK my question.
I've gone from being one of Apple's biggest evangelist for over 28 years, to being a real Mac-Hater - in the span of one machine. This iMac is the worst design I've ever encountered, not only due to the fact that it's a HUGE FIRE-HAZARD but I feel like I'm staring at a cubicle partition whenever I'm using it. I could never imagine Apple sticking everybody with such a badly conceived machine. Especially after all these years of faith and hope that I've placed in the company.
These new iMacs overheat and die with normal use. This is a KNOWN PROBLEM that Apple is sweeping under the rug. My machine's graphics processor fried, taking the screen and logic board with it. ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. This is probably unrelated to my recent Safari crashes, but people should know that the life of their Macs are severely reduced (by DESIGN) these days.
So, thanks for no help everybody. I'll remember not to bother next time.

Yeah, it isn't in the library, you need to call it up using code. It is documented in the help files though, so that should help you get it into use.

Creating a button with text in FlashCS5

I am fairly new with using FlashCS5. I just finished the class and created a button with text in it for class but now when I need to do it for a project I can't seem to get it to work.
I am trying to create a simple start and stop button to start and stop a Flash movie. I can get the buttons to work without any text, such as the word start and stop in the middle of each. Everything I've tried to do with the text on the button turns out the same.
What happens is that in Flash the buttons appear to work fine. The little hand with the finger shows no matter where I place my cursor on the button but when I test them the area where the text is does not allow the click to work. I have tried specifying a hit area and made sure that the hit area was larger than the entire button but still the middle where the text is doesn't work. Outside of the text area works fine.
Any ideas? I've spent 4 hours on this.

Thank you for the reply but what I am doing is much simpler. I am creating a gray rectangle and putting text in the center. I am then selecting both the rectangle and the text and converting it to a button. I am then editing the button from the library and adding a keyframe to the hit area, drawing a rectangle around the button to establish the hit area.
I am enabling simple buttons and when in Flash it appears fine. It is when I test that the area where the text is doesn't function as clickable.

Acrobat javascipt problem with text field

I work in hospital and I create a PDF with some javascript, to help us working with our patients. This PDF now need some upgrade and I m stuck. Im not a programmer, so its even more difficult to me.
Let me describe my problem. I have three buttons in my PDF with this code: on mouse up run javascript (I replace actual names in menu with options)

Now my problem. This code work perfect for my d1, d2, and d3 fields. When nurse click first button and open menu, then select options, the value that she select print in field d1, value from second button print in d2 and value from last button in d3. But each selection has also second value, named "kat". This value must be printed in text field named "kat", but...here is some catch. If all three selected options have different "kat" values - all three values must be in text field "kat". If one or two values are equal, I need that just one of them is printed.
Something like that:
If
"d1" field has "A" value
"d2" field has "B" value
and "d3" has "C" value
then field "kat" has all three kat values.
but if
"d1" field has "A" value
"d2" field has "D" value
and "d3" field has "E" value
then field "kat" print only one of two equal (A and B) kat values and E kat value, that is different.
Anyone understand my bad english and my problem and has a solution for this?

Use hidden text fields for the various "kat" values ("kat1", "kat2", etc.) and then a separate custom calculation script for the real "kat" field that looks at the values of those fields and decides what value it should have.

Can you create a user entered text field that flows content in a subform?

I am working on a conversion project taking a document library of over 600 forms from Word into PDF, for the most part it's simple and binding fields to the database schema and using subforms is working quite well - however, there are some instances where there is a combination of user entered fields mixed with database fields and in some cases the end user fields are all there are but the amount of content can vary from 250 characters to thousands. The project manager wants a PDF that enables users to enter whatever amount of text they need to and have the form layout function the way it does as if all fields were populated by the database - I don't know of a way to make that work unless content is entered in the schema first (or implement CM and have all users working in LiveCycle, but the database uses PDF, sothat's not an option right now).
If anyone has any ideas how to make these things work I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

    If you can post your form in the post, I can have a look at it and provide my feedback.
    I created a sample file for your reference..
    1) The Content property for the Page1 was set to Flowed.
    2) Each text box is placed inside a Subform which is also has the content property set to Flowed.
    3) In the Form Properties, under the Default tab, set the PDF render format as Dynamic XML form.
    4) In the Form Properties, under the Preview tab, set the Preview Type as "Interactive Form" and Preview Adobe XML Form as "Dynamic XML form". (this step is for the previewing the PDF in the designer).
    5) Finally save the form as Dynamic XML form. (File Menu -> Save As).
Hope this helps.

HELP!! How do I create hyperlink in a text field?

Hi!
I've been going through the message boards and I am not finding my answer. I have created a form utilizing LiveCycle. I have made the form so that it can be fillable via Reader Extended PDF. I need to be able to put a link in a text field that the next user can just click on it, and it will take them to a document in SharePoint for review. I've tried changing the text field to rich text in LiveCycle, but the steps to add the link in the PDF is too lengthly and not friendly. Once I finally get it to put the link in, the end user cannot just click on it. They have to take additional steps. Someone on the boards mentioned something about putting a button next to the field that will convert the text of the link in the previous text field to a link, but I cannot find those instructions or understandable instructions. The management wants it to be where you just click on the link. How do I do this? I am not a techie, so I need instructions in layman's terms.

I'm in the same boat as you, inasmuchas I taught myself LC. I've tried to replicate your issue. I'm trying to understand where the issue actually lies.
First, I created a new document to test. I dragged the text field onto the document and stretched it to accomodate what I was going to type and entered: http://www.google.com/something
This works as intended.
Next I tried a link similar to yours in our own intranet: http://intranet/WebPages/support.aspx
That also worked.
Now, for what you're actually working with: a SharePoint document.
I tried to paste a link to a document that I created on our Sharepoint site. The link failed! I noticed that the end of the link was truncated (something like 7 characters). So, I tried a shorter link. That worked!
What else is happening when they click the link? Are they simply being asked to "check out" the document? Are you getting an error message like "an error has occured while opening the page"?

How to create an "L" shaped text field

I need to insert a text field in an Acroform with a label that starts part way in on one line and then continues on the next line, as shown below.
Is it possible to insert an L-shaped text field? If not, is it possible to automatically move the text cursor to the next field when the person filling out the form runs out of space on the first line? I'm using Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 7.

Actually if you create the form in a Third pary Program called FileMaker It allows you when you create the field you can insert the title of the field (which is the same as the Field name) either to left side or above. Then when PDF is created Even though its rectangular shape it will show with question or what ever above the actual acrea that will be filled out.
Or you can use Word
In word you
Create on each line item and set tab for proper distance of each item on line.
Then go to Format Tabs and set each tab to show underline.
hit tab just at end of title.
Set ine spacing to 1.5 or 2
Next hit return and hit tab number times
Repeat with each line you may have to readjust tabs in Tab format or drag tab marker in top ruler to desired spacing.
Hit retun and and hit desired number of spaces
When finished seting up Form go back to first line with text
Go to tab format and remove the underline hit set if you have more than one line. When finished hit okay.
Go to next line with text and repeat removal of underline.
When finished you should have line that have text only
And, just bellow lines on spaced so the start just under the text above.
Now go to Print Menu > PDF > choose Adobe PDF.
Open in Acrobat in tools click Forms > Create form
Choose current document
Then choose to use current document again.
When finished The Form fields should be Properly named.
Edit each field appropriately whether for text or Numbers or Phone numbers or zip codes
Save under a different name.

If you ever want to change form in version created by word and just retype text as desired
print as PDF under different name.
Either recreate fields, or if your just changing spelling or added additional text but didn't cahge what it its, choose Replace pages.

For example, the person enters 23 into text field 12, I also need the entry of text field 12 to show up in text field 63. Is this possible? This requires a script as you have to first verify that the denominator is not blank or zero, or you'll get an invalid operation.
Something like this should work as the custom calculation script of your field:

Problem with text fields

Hi ,I'm new to javascript and have following problem
I have 4 text fields on my jsp form..

and I want to do this:
If text1 is filled then I need to call any javascript validate function, which alerts me to fill text2 and if text3 is filled, then I need to call this function and it alerts me to fill text4. The function has to be called when the page would be submitted.
Can anybody help me with writing this function?
