Create SWF in InDesign CS6

I work since recently with ID CS6, and I was able to create a SWF (with curl page) also with CS6 version. But why I don’t understand since today my new SWF files have no motion anymore (I mean page forwarding with swf curl). Is there a way to reset InDesign to orriginal setting?

Stupid me,
I forgot to activate “Inclusive interactive page scroll” on the export to SWF

  • Creating Hyperlink using InDesign CS6 Server

    Hello,
    Could anyone help me to automate hyperlink generation for the web related contents, I can acheive this using desktop, but not in InDesign CS6 server, since 'selection' property is not supporting by the server version.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    As i understand, if your panels at the same height you can create a new document with 6 page with the  size scaled to 25%, then on page panel: unckeck AllowDocumet Pages to Shuffle. Drag the pages to be side to side, and that make the total width of you mural
    When you export to pdf, on general tab check on all pages & spreads

  • How do I create a downloadable link from an Interactive PDF file created out of InDesign CS6?

    Hello,
    I created an Interactive PDF file out of InDesign and would like to make the large file a downloadable link and share it with the user in an email. I do not want to use DropBox or GoogleDrive.
    The company I contract for has their own site - do I insert the file into the site or can I create a separate link for it?
    I will be recreating these presentation PDF's constantly, so I would like to know if there is a simple way to create this link for files in the size of 7-12MB.
    Any ideas on downloadable links? I do have flash - but rarely use, perhaps load the file out of flash?
    Thank you so much for your help,
    Megan

    Hi Willie,
    Thanks for your help. Most likely contact the company who maintains the
    site then to share the file with them I'm assuming?

  • Creating Murals Using InDesign CS6

    We often use InDesign for creating seamless multi-panel murals, i.e. a 6 panel flow wall where each panel could be considered a 'tile' (like tiles in a RIP), suppose 40" x 96" each done at 25% scale.
    The problem arises when using a spread where either pages are different sizes or when resizing all pages, viz: either an undesirable gap or overlap is created between panels.
    We prefer using InDesign for this because there may fifty=plus logos or other images placed thereupon, and using Illustrator would become tedious.
    What solutions are there?
    Thanks!

  • Create quiz in InDesign CS6

    Is it possible to create a quiz similar to the Review widget used in iBooks Author, that would allow a button state to change when clicked, from a checkmark to an X, depending on the correct answer?
    Thanks,
    J

    You could use Adobe Captivate that now can export as HTML5, then you can place in InDesign document as a web content.
    Look at this tutorial

  • InDesign CS6 plug-in not recognized correctly by InDesign

    I have been trying to create a simple InDesign CS6 plug-in that writes to a log file as I'm opening & closing InDesign documents. SDK package had the LinkWatcher sample that I've been using as a reference when creating my solution.
    Currently the problem is that I'm getting a "Adobe InDesign does not recognize mfindesign.pln as a valid plug-in" when I try to start up InDesign CS6 with the plugin. That isn't too helpful as it doesn't let me know where the problem is and compiling the code with VS2010 gives me no errors currently.
    Relevant parts of the code can be found from https://github.com/crnd/MFIndesign/. I've been using CResponder as a base class in my implementation.
    Anyone have any good pointers where & how to start looking for the problem? Or even better if someone can already spot the mistake(s) I've made...

    This is a typical problem to solve, based on my individual experience on this issue i would recommend the following check points.
    Check that your plugin is linking to correct version of libraries.
    Check you are using the correct version of SDK
    Look for the odfrc command line and see that correct flags are being sent as argument to it. Also that the correct version of odfrc is being used to compile the resources
    If possible use the debug version of InDesign, it may give you more detailed error prompt. Like if the plugin you are trying to load is a release version, or the resources are missing.
    See if the resources are actually compiled and the resulting folder is placed parallel to your .pln file, like very truly mentioned by Bartek. Pay attention to what the name of this folder should be.
    Also makes sure that these resource folders are not empty.
    Hope one of these steps does the trick for you.

  • Creating content in InDesign or an external text editor

    Hi,
    I'm starting another technical manual project in InDesign. The manual will be about 500-600 A5 pages, mixing text, technical illustrations and screenshots. I'm the only author, and will have proofreader working on PDF copies.
    I'm not sure if I should create my content right in InDesign, or using an external text editor. The point with both solutions are:
    - InDesign
    Pro: What you write is what you see. You always know how long is a section, and can immediately balance the mix between text and illustrations (both having the same relevance in this manual).
    Con: There is no way to keep the overall structure under control; you can have an overview on chapter sequence with the Book, but that'a all - no finer level is allowed. And you cannot work on the iPad or another computer, without having InDesign installed.
    - External text editor
    Pro: Scrivener and Nisus Writer - to name two of the options - can always show a fine-detailed outline, where you can easily rearrange small sections and check the balance between parts. You can continue editing when at your clients. With Scrivener, you can synch text-only markdown files via Dropbox, and continue editing on an iPad when at the client.
    Con: The final layout has to be done in InDesign, so you have to be careful when to import the finished first draft. Balance between small sections cannot be checked until you work on the final layout. Illustrations have to be added only when working at the layout. Tables will be a rough approximation.
    What would you do? I would like to work on the external text editor, since my previous experience with a long manual in InDesign was a bit like working blind. But I hate the idea of not being immediately in control of all the elements of my work.
    Cheers,
    Paolo

    Halfway in the making of the manual, I can say that creating content in InDesign (CS6) is not feasible. The program is extremely slow and unrealiable. The spinning beachball takes most of the working time, and crashes are extremely frequent.
    My book is not very complex. A single flow of text, with the simplest layout, and a few inline illustrations. A spare amount of cross-references, a few conditions. The book is made of less of ten chapters, with the longest no longer than 150 A5 pages.
    As it is, I would consider InDesign a final layout app only. Writing and proofreading has to be done on a rough copy (assuming the proofreading do agree to work on a preliminary copy, and not the final work). InDesign should come into play when it is time to prepare the layout for printing.
    I hope to read of someone more successful than me. Going back to FrameMaker and Windows is not my dream (plus, producing PDF files with FrameMaker on Windows has been a nightmare for me). Unfortunately, lucky technical writers using InDesign are very jealous, and don't seem to want to release their experience on the web.

  • Can't change Font or Size in Indesign CS6 via dropdown menu

    Hi!
    I can't change the font on new documents created in Adobe Indesign CS6. I can't choose other fonts or an other font size from the download menu.
    If i use the same option from the right mouse button menu, it works.
    New installations or repairs of the application doesn't work.
    Windows 7/64bit
    Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (8.0)
    Thanks for every advice.

    Perhaps it's this: InDesign tools and panels don't respond to mouse clicks (Windows 7/Vista)

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
    If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
    I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
    The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
    I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
    Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
    I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
    I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • How do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?

    Hi,
    Im creating an interactive digital magazine for our company which will go on the iPad, but also online for computers.
    The iPad (.folio) has zoom functions, but on screen (.swf) the magazine is very static and peaple can't zoom and scroll (the zooming buttons function in InDesign doesn't work here).
    So, how do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?
    (I read older posts regarding this problem in CS5... It's not possible for me to purchase an additional product for that. I have Flash, if there is a tutorial on how to do it, that'd be helpful too)
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards!

    Although the help implies this should work, and I've seen it written in a book to do things this way, it's not how I do things:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader(content_req1);
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    Instead, try:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    content_ldr1.load(content_req1);

  • Creating a Randomizer/Shuffle Button for interactive PDF in InDesign CS6 (PC)

    I'm creating a set of flashcards in InDesign CS6 (on a PC) so there are two sides (question then answer). I'd like them to "flip over" using an interactive PDF. That's not the problem - the tough part is linking the two sides (ie pages) together and creating a "randomizer" button so the user can shuffle the deck of flashcards in a new order while keeping the question and answer pages of each card together. Is that possible with an interactive PDF? I'd appreciate any info! The company is printing the flashcards and then offering them in a digital format to it would be great to be able to use one document for both purposes.

    Sorry, this is not possible in an interactive PDF file.
    You could probably do with SWF. You could probably include it a tablet app using HTML5 and JavaScript.
    But not in PDF.

  • InDesign CS6 interactive fla and swf files to .mov files

    I have created an interactive file with photos in InDesign CS6 and would like to be able to drop it into iMovie to use as part of a slideshow. How do I convert the swf or fla file to an iMovie compatible file? Any direction would be appreciated.

    .. or, Plan B), use QuicktimeX' ability of Screen-Recordings to record while you playback those files in their app.
    The resulting mov can be treated as any other movie in iMovie.
    Vector-graphics, interactive formats, etc are of no use in an video-editor ...

  • How do I create a Table of Contents in InDesign CS6 for print that easily converts to epub?

    How do I create a Table of Contents in InDesign CS6 for a print book that easily converts to epub?
    Can anyone point me to a link for a step-by-step (not a video) on setting up all the elements of a print book properly (pages, table of contents and index) so they will convert and reflow perfectly from print to epub in InDesign CS6. This is not about building an ebook from ground up, but taking 50 backlisted print books (converted from old versions of Quark to InDesign) that now need to be converted to epub formats.
    OR could someone point me to the link in the Adobe InDesign CS6 support that explains how to create a Table of Contents for a print book (5.5" x 8.5", 288 pages), one that will convert when the file is converted to ePub (for MAC OSX)?
    Just downloaded the 706 page inDesign CS6 reference manual from Adobe <http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/indesign_reference.pdf>  but there's not even a search feature on the pdf file.
    Up until this week, we have only done print books, creating the TOC the old fashioned way, as a fixed page, comprised of two columns: page numbers and chapters/subject. The files I have created are taken by our printer and printed beautifully.
    However, when I convert the same book to epub in CS6, the character and paragraph styles converted beautifully - but everything else is all over the place! The table of contents is on different pages, the columns split apart. That goes for the page contents as well - everything is all over the place. when it's converted to a pdf -- total perfection. Never any problems converting with perfection to pdf format and reading those on the various readers.
    (Thank you so much in advance for any help).

    <http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/indesign_reference.pdf> Adobe Digital Reader does have a search feature for reading pdfs. Found the TOC instructions on page 176 of 706 pages.

  • How do I create an interactive PDF file in InDesign CS6 with Folio Overlays?

    I have been trying to export an interactive PDF file using InDesign CS6. It exports fine, and all the content works except for the Folio Overlays I created. I created two Folio Overlays (one Pan & Zoom and one Scrollable Frame). The overlays work if I preview them from the Folio Overlays panel, but they do not work on the PDF document.
    I am using File >> Export... to create the PDF document, and I am sure the PDF document is of the interactive type and not the print type. Am I exporting it incorrectly? Is there a specific step that I have missed somewhere? Do I need to create a Folio Build to make the Folio Overlays work?
    When I mouse over the Folio Overlays, I get the crosshair cursor which only selects part of the image when I click and drag it.

    PDF is one thing. Folios for DPS is another. There is a little bit of
    overlap but not much.
    The interactivity in the folio overlays panel is for DPS only.

  • Can't show special characters (ÆØÅ) in pdf fields created with inDesign CS6

    Hi Guys im having a problem with special characters in pdf's form fields created in inDesign CS6
    instead of the character ÆØÅ it creates squares or some other seemingly random character
    Here's the pdf

    I figured it out
    Just in case people had the same problem here is how it's done: (i misunderstood the two posters above me, so you are actually going to change fonts within acrobat, like they said, and save it)
    Open the pdf in acrobat, go and change font settings for each of your fields and change the font under the "Appearance" tab.
