3) update DNS suffix for all the domains - Any other changes i need to do with respect to DNS.
4) Web publishing rules - Do i need to add seperate simple URLS for all domains ?
5) Should i do any further changes on Office web app servers to make sure it works for all users from 5 seperate domains.

Exchange Migration from One domain to another domain on same forest

Team,
we are in the process of migrating exchange infrastructure from one child domain to another child domain within same forest.
root domain - root.com
child domains - US.root.com and EMEA.root.com
EMEA and US Domains setup are different from each other. Like EMEA has different email address policy , Email Flow than US , connectors etc.
Now we need to migrate all emea users under US Domain. based on the geographical locations, we are building a new dc, mailbox , cas servers on EMEA location , but these servers will be part of US Domain.
for CAS Servers - we are planing to register respective sites ( site affinity), so all the local requests will be handled by new cas server which is built under US Domain.
Mailbox Servers - we would be creating new db's and the limits on new mbx server and going to replicate as its on EMEA Mailbox server.
can some one please let us know what are the precautions , recommendation, sequence which we need to follow to perform smoother migration. as of now , I can think of below topics.
Mailbox Migration -I Have a script , which
will take care of mailbox movement once the objects are being moved.
Contacts Migration - Willard Martin blog helped me to perform migration
DL Migration - I believe there is no mechanism to migrate DL. only option is to recreate.
Email address Policy:we would be creating a new address policy and apply to OU's
DB Consistency check – do we have to perform the health checks on source mailbox server to see , the servers are free from errors /corruption.
Check outlook configuration - After the migration, we need to check and see , the exchange server/ auto discover works and identify the new exchange servers.

Separating a child domain from a forest/parent domain

Our infrastructure is currently as follows:
There are two domains which I will call "apple.local" and "banana.local". The domain "apple.local" is the parent/forest which is at a Windows 2003 Functional Level. The domain "banana.local" is a child domain of "apple.local"
which is at a Windows 2008 Functional Level. This unusual arrangement was the result of a merger.
Recent business changes have meant that the domain "banana.local" needs to become the forest and "apple.local" needs to be permanently retired. I have been searching as to whether this is possible but the general consensus is "no".
However, many of the discussions are several years old and I am interested in whether anything has changed with recent updates.
As an added "bonus", a single Exchange 2010 SP3 server is present and - just to complicate things further - is a member of the child domain "banana.local". Mailboxes (shared and user) and DGs from both domains are present. Access to shared
mailboxes is granted using a mixture of users and security groups from both domains.
Is the best way forward to simply create a new domain on a fresh server? What would be the most straight-forward solution with minimal impact to the users and - in particular - the Exchange platform?
I am in a position to purchase new servers, software and licenses as required to meet the ultimate goal and - within reason - additional expenditure is not an obstacle. We also have the option to create new IP ranges if required.
Any ideas and/or suggestions welcomed!

It is not possible to detach a child domain from its parent. One of the things you can do is to create your domain and establish trusts between them and migrate resources from old domain to the new domain. Note that computer account migration will take some
time. For exchange part you can ask in Exchange forums but the one thing you can do is to Cross-Forest mailbox move after you set up the new forest.

How to create two domains name in one active directory domain service .server 2012 ??

I want to try sharepoint foundation and office web apps server .
I installed server 2012 sharepoint found 2013 sql server 2012 and create a new forest on active directory domain sevice
now I want to install office web apps server 2013 but when I run the setup said me can't install office web apps server on the domain name that installed sharepoint .
how can I create second domain name on this active directory domain service to install office web apps server ?
help me please I'm new and just want to try sharepoint and office web apps server .
mostly I need to create MS access custom web app and I need the web place to run my access custom web app on this server and because I live in iran can't create and sign up for office 365 and sharepoint online so i'm forced to run them on my system .help

Active Directory : Replication Issue - "Disconnected" sub-domain from the Forest

Hello everyone,
I'm managing a multi-domain forest (with 7 sub-domain). All are working fine except for one. Throught repadmin (Repadmin /replsum /bysrc /bydest /sort:delta), I noticed I got both domain controllers of a subdomain (there are only 2 DCs in that
subdomain), who hadn't replicated with the rest of the forest for more than 60 days.
According to my research, it's usually recommended to Depromote and repromote the problematic DC to avoid the issue of lingering objects. In this case, it's both DC of a sub-domain. Of course, on the others DCs in the forest, I got the event
ID 2012 "it has been too long since this machine last replicated with the named source machine....".
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters\Allow Replication With Divergent and Corrupt Partner
to a value of 1.
As I understand it, this may cause lingering objects to appear (they can be removed with repadmin /removelingeringobjects command with the DSA GUID, naming context, etc..). So far, I haven't used that registry key yet because of the associated risks.
I didn't noticed any other issue so far. Users in the problematic sub-domain are fine, and the problematic sub-domain seems to be able to pull replication data from the others DCs in the forests. (at least, I'm not getting any error in the A.D. Sites
and Services)
I added two new DCs for the affected sub-domains, so the number of DCs for that domain went from 2 to 4 DCs. The two old DCs that hadn't replicated for 60 days are windows Server 2003 and the two new DCs are Server 2008 R2.
Unfortunately (and I was half expecting this, but did it anyway since I must eventually replace the old DCs), that didn't solve my issue, since the rest of the forest "doesn't see" the two new DCs of the sub-domain. By that, I mean that I
cannot add an Active Directory Domain Services Connection in Sites & Services console (from a DC in another domain of the forest or even the root domain). I see all the DCs, including the two old DCs that are server 2003, but not the new ones.
I believe it's because the others DCs doesn't pull/replicate the information from the old DCs anymore, so they aren't "aware" of the two new DCs for that problematic sub-domain.
I was wondering what is the best course of action. Is it worthwhilte to use the registry key force replication with the old DCs ? (and hopefully, the new DCs will get their AD Services connection/replication vector created, so I can depromote
the old DCs.
Since the Old DCs from the problematic sub-domain seems to be able to pull the replication from the rest of the forest, does the risk of Lingering object isn't that great ?
Or is it too risky and I must create a new sub-domain and migrate one way or another the users ? (which would be time-consuming)

Thanks for the reply. One of the link had another link to a good article about the use of repadmin :
So, I ran the command "repadmin /removinglingerobjects " on one of the problematic DCs ().
For clarity purpose, let's say I used the domain :
domain = main domain
subdomain = the domain whose DC are problematic (all of them).
AnotherSubDomain = Just another subdomain I used as a "reference" DC to cleanup the appropriate partition.
Command (the DSA guid is from a DC "clean" in another domain)
repadmin /removelingeringobjects adrec01.mysubdomain.domain.ca C4081E00-921A-480D-9FDE-C4C34F96E7AC dc=ANOTHERsubdomain,dc=domain,dc=ca /advisory_mode
I got the following message in the event viewer :
Active Directory Domain Services has completed the verification of lingering objects on the local domain controller in advisory mode. All objects on this domain controller have had their existence verified on the following source domain controller.

How should I interpret the message "number of objects examined and verified 0". Does it mean it just didn't find any object to compare ? (which would be odd IMHO) Or there is another problem ?

Cannot create a domain using VirtualBox with W2012 DataCenter guest OS

Hello there,
I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for days now and it has got me completely stumped. It's also brought my studying to a grinding halt, which is very frustrating. Any help would be very much appreciated!
I'm studying for MCSA and have built a home lab using VirtualBox. At one point, I had everything running smoothly with a Bridged setup in VirtualBox. I had a domain created with DNS on two W2012 servers. All good so far and it worked a treat!
I then hit a certain exercise in the study book that required creating a forest from scratch so I uninstalled all AD/DNS roles on all servers and tried to configure a forest but now I cannot get back to my prior good state. Every time I try and install/configure
AD DS, I get three errors in BPA results:
1. Enable computer and user accounts to be trusted for delegation
2. Access this computer from the network granted to the appropriate security principals
3. This forest should be correctly configured to synchronize time
Also, when I try to connect to AD Admin Centre, it states: Cannot connect to any domain. Trying to connect another W2012 server to the domain also fails spectacularly.
Having done some research, it seemed like the right network config is very important to successfully setting up a W2012 domain, so I followed this guide to the letter, using pfsense:

Still, no joy and exactly the same errors/issues. Any ideas?

From where are you trying to connect? It sounds like you are trying to connect to these across the network from another machine. In that case, it is a networking issue. Can the remote machine from which you are trying to connect ping the
DC by means of IP address (not DNS)?
corp.contoso.com implies that you created a forest root with the name contoso.com. You could have all sorts of machines in that root, because it is really just a domain. Then, after creating a domain called contoso.com, you created child domain
that was underneath contoso.com, and you called that domain corp.contoso.com. Now, if you had a system in the forest root that had the name corp, with the domain name attached to that, you would have a fully qualified domain name of corp.contoso.com.
That means that you would be unable to create a child domain called corp.contoso.com because that name was already taken.
It would be helpful to have the IP configuration of all machines involved - address, mask, g/w, DNS. Additionally, the machine name and the structure you are trying to create.

Importing multiple domains within one run profile - keep running import even if domain cannot be reached

All,
I am facing an issue and spent time on research and discussions with my colleagues. All feedback is more or less the one I was feared of. So - you are my last hope :)
Current setup:
-   Run profile “DI” on AD-MA contains 60 steps (screenshot attached)
-   Each step is related to a single domain within forest
-   Currently domains are decommissioned step-by-step, as all user are migrated to a single root-domain
-   We are not always informed that a domain was shut-down
==>    RESULT: In case that a domain could not be reached, either caused by a temporary issue or based on being decommissioned run profile is stopped immediately with error “no-start-connection” and all following steps are skipped. Means, in case
that in step 2 of the profile domain cannot be reached following 58 domains are not imported.
Question: I spend some time on checking for a solution on that, not yet successfully. Does anyone of you have an idea how to solve it? My idea, and I assume this is somehow possible, is to define error handling in FIM that enforces him to proceed with next
step within run profile instead of skipping all following steps.
Worst case work-around would be to defined a DI-run profile with a single step for each single domain – means 60 DI-run profiles :(
NOTE: As the schedule for the migration is not yet finally agreed I would assume a time frame in years - so it is not a short term issue.

beside the worst case reply i only have one idea.
You could check domain connection by script, an if domain is not available, manupilate the AgentConfig XML file with a script, that removes the run profile information from it.
After that you have to find a way to automate GUI work, i know there are some tools around but can't give a example, to initiate the update management agent function.
Im not quite sure that this will work, just a stupid idea ;)
Think the better way is to have seperate run profiles for each domain.

Lync 2010 server and UM role on different domains in different forests

I have a Lync 2010 environment running on domain A, with exchange 2010 UM also running in Domain A. We are in the process of migrating users and mailboxes from domain A to domain B. Once we reach our enterprise voice users with exchange UM enabled
we will need to install the exchange UM role on the exchange server in Domain B.
There is a 2-way trust relationship between domain A and domain B.
All the users from are running Lync on a PC located in Domain B, using Lync credentials from Domain A.
Are there any issues running Lync 2010 and Exchange UM from different domains in different forests? Is it as simple as creating a new UM DialPlan and UM IP Gateway to the domain A Lync FQDN?

Each UM forest must be configured to trust the forest in which Lync Server is deployed, and the forest in which Lync Server 2013 is deployed must be configured to trust each UM forest. If Exchange UM is installed in multiple forests, the Exchange
Server integration steps must be performed for each UM forest or you’ll have to specify the Lync Server domain.

Change domain trust for Forest trust

I have a forest A with 3 domains (1 (root),2,3) and i have a forest B with 2 domains (4 (root),5).
Presently, i have a domain trust between domain 2 and 5.
I need to change for a forest trust ? what is a best practice ?
1- Remove domain trust and create a forest trust?
2- Create a forest trust (waiting a few day) a remove a domain trust?
3- Create a forest trust and remove immediately a domain trust?

Which kind of domain trust have you created? Which kind of forest trust do you want to create?
A one-way forest trust allows all users in one forest to trust all domains in the other forest; a two-way forest trust forms a transitive trust relationship between
every domain in both forests.
Based on my understanding of forest trust, a forest trust is a transitive trust between a forest root domain and a second forest root domain. If you create a forest
trust between two root domains in forest A and forest B, it provides a one-way or two-way, transitive trust relationship between every domain in each forest.
In another word, all the domains in forest A and forest B would inherit the trust relationship from their root domains. Personally, you can just create a new forest trust and keep the existing domain trust.
In addition, please make sure that the forest function level is Windows Server 2003 or higher before you create a forest trust.

I established a trust, but i don't see child domain at ADMT installed on target domain DC. Source root domain is visible

You should not be needed to establish a trust as all domains within the same forest already trust each other - are you sure those domains belong to the same forest? You can find out using the following command:
nltest /DOMAIN_TRUSTS
If ADMT dosen't show a partiuclar domain in the dropdown list, you can/have to type the domain name manually.

I have a forest with many domains , and other forest with a domain. They include a trust set up and working . I would like to have only one forest, but it would need to move that single domain in additional forest, and would like to know if it is possible then

You're asking to move the domain itself? No, you can't move the domain. You can create a new domain in the forest you want to consolidate to, and then migrate users and groups to that forest. You'll have to migrate workstations and users and repoint
applications as well, if needed. And then, you're not really moving them, you are creating new ones and copying properties of those objects. You mentioned a forest trust but all the forest trust allows you to do is to assign/use permissions from one forest
in another. People speak of moving objects but like I said, for users and groups you're simply creating new ones with the same names, and copying properties over. Computers/servers are joined to the new domain, but it's a new computer account, not one that
gets moved over.
You'll need a migration tool to do this smoothly. As Malek mentioned ADMT, yes this is one tool that can do this. It's not necessarily the best or easiest tool, but it's free from Microsoft. There are also other third party tools such as Dell/Quest
Migration Manager for AD and BinaryTree also has similar tool (there are others out there too). Those two latter tools have the ability to add permissions (ACL entries) to new domain objects, based on the old ACLs from the source domain. This can be a huge
help for servers and workstations (allows the users to continue to use their same profile after their computer is migrated, and they are using their new user account. Otherwise Windows would just create a new profile when the user logged in with his/her new
domain account.
Depending on the size of the domain you want to move (how many objects), this could be a pretty big project. There's a lot going on in a migration, and based on your question, I'd recommend finding help with it if you can. There are a number of companies
and consultants who specialize in AD migrations, even some consultation for planning could help tremendously.

Create exchange domain certificate

upgrade exchange 2007 to exchange 2013, our new exchange 2013 is 2 mailbox server with DAG, and 2 CAS with NLB, I try to create exchange certificate with my domain CA, I can generate certificate request file ( .csr ) but whe I try to submit on Domain CA
server it not work
my exchange server is run windows server 2012 and CA server is windows 2008 r2, and domain functional and forest functional is 2003, please guide me how to complete these task, and when I got .cer file it need to import to all exchange server or not

Creating a frame within a iweb page

I would like to create a frame within one of my iweb pages so that I can maintain the navigation menu while incorporating expose photo slide (or any other external page to be displayed within my page).
Please correct me if I am wrong but I don't think this is possible using iweb and must edit the source code.
Does anyone know if there are any templates out there I could just copy and past to get this done? i am simply looking to create a frame pretty much taking up the entire center of the existing page while leaving the navigation menu in tacked. Do appreciate the help!

"Run Scripts" giving a problem to create portal domain

I am new to weblogic portal development. Was trying to create my basic sample portal in weblogic_portal_10.3.4 with the help of documentation. I am getting in running scripts when I was creating the domain. I have followed the below steps, please help me if you find any issue with my steps.
1. downloaded Weblogic_Portal_10.3.4 and installed in my windows 7 environment.
2. launched eclipse for weblogic portal.
3. opened portal prospective in eclipse.
4. right click on server tab and selected "Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.4)"
5. opened "Domain Configuration Wizard"
6. Selected "Create a new Weblogic domain" radio button.
7. in the next screen for "Generate a domain configured automatically to support the following products"
selected "Weblogic Portal 10.3.4" radio button
8. in the next screen given the domain_name
9. in the next screen provided the password/confirm-password for administrator user
10. in the next screen selected JRocket SDK and development_mode for my domain.
11. in the next screen just left all the default configuration for the datasources. ( non of the datasource is selected in their check boxes)
12. in the next screen just clicked on "Next" button and "OK" on my popup
13. in this screen "p13nDataSource" is selected on my left top window area, All 3 SQL Files are selected for loading database.
Clicked on *"Run Scripts"*

CFGFWK-60839: Database Load Failed!
Please help me if you find any problem with the steps that I am following to create my weblogic_portal_domain.
I was following the steps mentioned at : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252.pdf to create my domain to start portal development.

Those are the WLP 10.3.2 instructions. But, the 10.3.4 instructions in the tutorial (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1014619) are wrong, too.
In 10.3.4, with derby, Run Scripts doesn't work any longer; it should still work the other database (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.). Instead, for derby, just create the domain, accepting any warning dialogs about databases that come up. After that finishes, in the domain directory, run create_db.cmd (on windows) or create_db.sh (on *nix and Mac). It should create the derby database files in the domain, and include everything needed.
I'll send a note to get the docs updated.
