Create vertual package in SCCM 2012

I Need to create a virtual (App-v package) that I sequenced in sccm 2012. I remember in sccm 2007 there was an option (Create virtual package) I don't see that here whats the procedure for creating virtual package\application in sccm 2012
Thanks

I re-sequenced it Notepad++ and this time and this time I chose continue Configuring and launched Application and was able to add file association through the App, so when App was repushed file association was there for .vbs, .txt. etc...
I have been looking at some blogs and I fond that the sequencer has a Tab Shortcuts and FTA's I don't see that Tab on my sequencer and I'm running 5.0 sp1 any thoughts on that?
maybe ask in the dedicated App-V forum?

  • Create sysprepped VHD with SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
    I am very new to SCCM in general so please bare with me.
    I manage a SCVMM 2012 sp1 environment and I would like to use SCCM 2012 r2 to manage, update and publish new VHD's. However I am having trouble creating a sysprep'd VHD. The task sequence seems to complete without issue up to the shutdown command which is
    the last step in the sequence. I have pasted what I believe the issue is below. Any assistance would be great.

    The "shutdown -s -t 300" step (Created as default as part of an"Install
    an existing image package to a virtual hard disk" Task Sequence) will fail if it is executed directly after the "Prepare ConfigMgr Client for Capture" step. This is because
    the "Prepare ConfigMgr Client for Capture" step runs Sysprep, then reboots the computer into the Windows PE boot image associated with the task sequence. “Shutdown.exe”
    is not available in Windows PE environment (hence it is failing).
    I have been able to work around this by setting the “SMSTSPostAction”
    variable (use to execute a post task sequence task) to "Wpeutil shutdown" which initiates a system shutdown via Wpeutil after the Task Sequence is complete.
    It is important that the Task Sequence completes successfully as part of the VHD creation process to ensure a clean sysprep image is create otherwise this can
    cause errors when importing in to SCVMM. This is because SCVMM also uses the Task Sequence engine.
    Hope that helps.

  • Software Distribution & Patching Design Issues - Migration of Packages SCCM 2007 to Application or Conventional Packages in SCCM 2012

    Hi All
    I am starting in discussion to deep root on Software Distribution & Patching model in large environments from SCCM 2007 migrating to SCCM 2012.
    Below are certain assertions i am putting forward for your expert views or you may in a similar situation
    1- I have migrated the packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 as conventional methods, now i am deploying them [ not migrated the advertisements and collections ], so while deploying i am facing a peculiar situation that the deployment when created is of the
    name "<<Package name>>(program)". I am not able to rename the deployment for the conventional packages. is there a way out to that??
    2- Will the collection queries work the same in SCCM 2012 as was in SCCM 2007??
    3- In SCCM 2012 Primary site there is default role called Site System role in that there is tab for proxy settings. I have observed that if do not check the proxy tab there and punch in proxy IP and port then after some time in the WSUS server the update
    source and proxy server tab the proxy option gets unchecked and hence the sync in software update point status appears failed. Is that anyone else also has observed !!!!!

  • Create a query in SCCM 2012 R2 for NIC Driver Version

    Hello,
        Is there a way to create a query for the specific NIC driver versions with SCCM 2012 R2? For example I can do this and other descriptors for video i.e.,
    select SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName, SMS_R_System.HardwareID, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer, SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.DriverVersion, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.Description, SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.VideoProcessor
    from  SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER on SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model
    like "HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G2" and SMS_G_System_VIDEO_CONTROLLER.Description like "%intel%"
    Is there a script that will give the version for NICs?
    Thanks Bill

  • Updating an App-v 5 package in SCCM 2012, update not applying automatically

    Hello, just doing some testing of updating an App-v 5 package in SCCM. The application has been deployed and  run on a client pc. I've gone back and opened the package in the sequencer and made some changes and saved it as a new package.
    In SCCM I've updated the content and pointed it at the new package. That all looks fine. It's showing the new files in the content.
    The application deployment settings are set to required and set to install outside maintenance windows. The client has received the update, I can see it in the software center but it's not being applied automatically.
    I've waited over 12 hours so the client has also had its maintenance window but it still has not updated. I've also tried launching the application to see if that would bring in the update but still no joy.
    Just wondered what experience other people have had with this?

    Firstly, just because you mentioned saving as a new package, if you select that option it will create a brand new v0.0.0.1 package and users settings will not transfer to the new version, so just use save or save as in most cases.
    Have you tried logging the user off and on again? And if the app is published globally, rebooting?
    If the application is in use, then the update will be delayed until either of these events occur, depending on how it was published. Also, if the app has certain integration points such as shell extensions or browser plugins, these can create a lock on the
    package even though you don't have the application running. You can run a powershell command to stop the package and speed things up if you wish, although this runs the risk of terminating explorer.exe or iexplore.exe:
    Get-AppvClientPackage *name* | Stop-AppvClientPackage   (and add -global to the end if it was globally published)

  • Create Global Condition using SCCM 2012 SDK programmaticaly

    Could someone please help me in creating some simple Global Condition in SCCM 2012 with SDK.
    First, I thougth that it will be pretty easy just creating a SMS_GlobalCondition WMI objet instance, but then I found that there is no any information about rules in that object and it seems to be impossible to create just SMS_GlobalCondition instance. So
    there should be some another object containing information about rule or expression assigned to global condition.
    For now, I found that it seems to be possible to use DcmObjectWrapper, may be someone can give me a piece of advice on how that exactly can be done.
    Appreciate any help.

    Juke,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Actually for now I'm trying to do what you recommended.
    I found an
    article describing the way to retrieve all Global Conditions as a part of assigning them to an application. This part works for me, I'm just checking objects which they use and looking for properties I should specify, but I still was not able to successfully
    create Global Condition.
    Seems that I still miss some parameters.
    When I save wrapper object which is of type DcmObjectWrapper like
    ((IResultObject)wrapper).Put();
    after specifying necessary parameter I got an error:
    ConfigMgr Error Object:
    instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus
    Description = "Access denied when attempting to retreive configuration item.";
    ErrorCode = 1078266380;
    File = "e:\\nts_sccm_release\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\sspconfigurationitem.cpp";
    Line = 2130;
    ObjectInfo = "";
    Operation = "PutInstance";
    ParameterInfo = "";
    ProviderName = "ExtnProv";
    StatusCode = 2147749889;
    That would be great if someone could provide me with working example or give some advice on what parameters are required for that objects. Or maybe I'm using wrong way to do that in general.

  • Where are stored Driver Packages on SCCM 2012?

    When you create a driver package, you must select directory where manufacture drivers are stored. This directory has got *.inf, *.sys, *.exe, *.msi....etc...but SCCM only find *.inf
    The questions are:
    - Does SCCM put all these files on SCCM database or only *.inf files ?
    - What happend with dependencies with other files?

    Hi, When you say "distribute to your distribution points" does this have to be to ALL distribution points ?
    Im using Fallback for scource content, and i have noticed that there is no option to allow Driver Packages to be deployed from FallBack Source Localtions.
    So my question i suppose is.. do driver packs have to be placed on ALL distribution points even if you have a fallback source location. ?
    Cheers

  • Failed (bad environment) Deploying MSU Packages on SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi All,
    I am trying to deploy the following updates to a test collection of computers running Windows 8.1 Enterprise:
    Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64.msu
    Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu  (These are the Windows 8.1 Interface Updates, the first file is a pre-req of the second)
    I am doing this by way of a package which executes a simple batch file to silently install these updates, here is the batch file:
    Wusa.exe \\syscent\Distributions\Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64.msu /quiet /norestart
    Wusa.exe \\syscent\Distributions\Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu /quiet /norestart
    I have verified that the updates install if I run the batch file manually on a test machine.
    However when I attempt to deploy the package to a group of test machines I receive the follow error in SCCM:
    I have no OS restrictions on the package so I'm a bit confused about what's going here.  I am planning on deploying these (and some other updates) to about 900 computers in at the school I work at over the summer, and would really love to get this working
    through SCCM.
    Thanks for any help!
    -Andrew

    I don't know that installing a pkgmgr/msu update via UNC is supported (it's not documented), so why not try packaging the msu files instead?
    [change your commandline to be: wusa KBnumber.msu /quiet /norestart]
    I guess you aren't using Software Update Management (which could be doing this for you)?
    (or, are those KBs hotfixes not published to WSUS)?
    NB: executing installations in this way (running from remote UNC) is not the most efficient use of ConfigMgr...

  • Having issues deploying packages in sccm 2012.

    I am having trouble deploying packages to my environment. From what I can tell with the trouble shooting I have done so far. The run with admin rights is not passing through to the clients. If I use a standard software package .exe or .msi (like adobe, MS
    Office) the package or application installs fine. However if I use, powershell, vb, .bat, straight command line
    MsiExec.exe, They all fail to what seems like it’s not passing the admin right through because I get the UAC prompt and install fails. How do I get the admin rights to work with the other forms of installs so I can push them out silent like I do with .exe and
    .msi applications?
    Thanks

    So first, you can absolutely use Applications for more than just MSIs; for an example see:
    http://blog.configmgrftw.com/configmgr-2012-application-deployment-by-example-user-exe-deployment/
    For packages though, the setting is in the program and is on the environment tab in the Run Mode box. Packages merely define the source files, programs define what to do with those source files like the command-line and rights to use.

  • Creating powershell scripts using SCCM 2012 device properties

    I am trying to create a PowerShell script that will create a MAB object based on SCCM device properties. This MAB object is needed to reimage over our network.
    My goal is to create a task sequence that will utilize these properties and create the MAB object in our AD. This will be the first step in my Task Sequence. This will have to use the SCCM device MAC Addresses property information to populate a
    sAMAccount property in my AD object.
    Any suggestions on how to start this process?

    I am still working on actually getting the full process completed here. I have a script that completes the necessary task of creating an MAB object in our Active Directory. This works from a command line opened on the client machine. When I deploy the script
    in a Task Sequence it does not complete. Here is what I am deploying in my task sequence.
    %winDir%\System32\windowsPowershell\v1.0\powershell.exe -noprofile -command Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass LocalMachine -force
    %winDir%\System32\windowsPowershell\v1.0\powershell.exe -noexit -command import-module ActiveDirectory -force;MABCreation.ps1 -force;Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned LocalMachine -force
    This errors at the import step everytime. I have created a batch file and used the command line option in the task sequence. I have also tried to Disable 64 bit file redirection option on and off. Any further suggestions?

  • Create a Package in SCCM 2007 to use a robocopy bat file

    Hi
    I’m setting up a package for Robocopy that copy files from C drive of a target machines into a network share.
    This is the robocopy bat file i am using:
    ROBOCOPY "C:" "\\servername\Test" /tee /e /eta /copy:dt /r:01 /w:01 /log+:"\\servername\Test\testLog.txt"
    /if *.doc *.xls *.ppt *.pdf *.msg *.pst *.jpg *.zip *.txt
    t
    -I Set up a package with this batch file
    -Added a program to the package pointing to this batch file
     general program properties are:
     Run:Hidden
     After running:No actionrequired
     Environment:
     Run with administrative rights
     drive mode: Runs with UNC Nam
    -Advertised it to a collection
    But when after the advertisment  i get the following error and nothing gets copies:
    Script for Package:CHV02E94, Program: ITF Robocopy failed with exit code 16
    Any advice

    I tried to test the same thing using a local source to get the script to work first and once this is working I will change it back to network share. This way i can eliminate possibilities of having any issues with permission and local system account.
    Here is the batch file:
    ROBOCOPY "C:" "\\machinename\Test" /tee /e /eta /copy:dt /r:01 /w:01 /log+:"\\machinename\Test\testLog.txt" /if *.doc *.xls *.ppt *.pdf *.msg *.pst *.jpg *.zip *.txt
    Using local source is  giving me still some issues. It seems like the robocopy.exe is using a default location as source other than C:\ which I want to. This script should scan the entire local C drive and copy any files that have specific
    file format as above.
    Here is the Execmgr.log error: Execution is complete for program ITF Robocopy Local2. The exit code is 3, the execution status is FailureNonRetry
    The robocopy log shows this:

  • Migrating Clients from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 R2 via SCCM 2007 PACKAGE

    I can migrate sccm clients from sccm 2007 to sccm 2012 using sccm 2007 package with sccm 2012 client?
    Thanks!
    Atenciosamente Julio Araujo

    Thanks for help me Peter and Torsten but this documentation says:
    "You cannot upgrade Configuration Manager 2007 clients to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager by using this method.
    In this scenario, use automatic client upgrade, which automatically creates and deploys a package that contains the latest version of the client."
    I Need migrate clients from sccm 2007 to sccm 2012 r2 and
    I thought ofcreate a package in sccm 2007 with a sccm 2012 client.

  • Need instructions to create application in SCCM 2012 for Captivate 8

    I need instructions for creating an application in SCCM 2012 for the latest versino of Captivate.  I found instructions for the prior version but unsure if these apply.  The instructions state to create a package, not application.  Is it possible to create the application, and are there any special instructions I should know about?
    Thanks

    Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

  • App v package distribution issue to sccm 2012 DP

    Hi,
    We are migrating app-v 4.6 packages to sccm 2012 , after importing the packages when we update DP its not copying the dependent scripts inside the appv package to Dp and hence when application launches it fails to launch the vb script.
    the script is made to run when shortcut is launched, but no vb script is copied to DP , but I have all files intact in source folder iyt just copies .sprj,xml,osd.
    Please suggest how to make all the files in package abcd.001 to get copied in DP.
    Does App-v package distribution is different from normal package.
    Thanks
    Shuaib

    Open up the app in the sequencer, add the file to your scripts folder. If the script requires to be run elevated, you'll want to use the Deployment config file and use Global publishing....
    If you don't need elevation you can use the User Config and won't need to publish globally.

  • SCCM 2012 package deployment reboot behaviour

    Hi,
    When i deploy package from SCCM 2012 with default reboot behavior it forces reboot. I want to suppress the reboot and let user to postpone the reboot whenever they want with popup window as like available for SCCM patch deployment. Is there way to achieve
    this. Can someone please provide suggestion if already done it.
    Regards,
    Madhan

    Actually, default behavior does *not* force a reboot. To have ConfigMgr force a reboot, you must choose the option that says ConfigMgr forces a reboot. Thus, the command-line you've configured is forcing the reboot which means you need to adjust the command-line
    to suppress the reboot as that's outside of ConfigMgr's control.
