Created a multi-colored brush using pantone colors

Hi, I am trying to create a multi-colored brush comprised of a single pantone color at different opacity settings, i.e. 100%, 75% and 25%. All of the multi-colored brushes I've seen have a variety of different colors, this is not what I need. Is this possible, or perhaps there are already brushes that will allow me to alter the color patterns. I would like to change colors and their respective opacity if possible.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mark

Mark,
As I (mis)understand it, you may create an object with the desired colours and transparencies and shape(s), and then turn it into an Artbrush, which will then be stretched to fit the path and adapted in width through the Stroke Weight, or proportionally adapted, depending on your settings.

  • Need Help Creating A Multi-Colored Background Image??

    I'm trying to create a random multi-colored 200 x 200 image that will be used for a tiled background.  The attached sample image will illustrated the random effect that I'm trying to acheive just using different colors though.  Say if I wanted to use (blue, gold, white and light blue), is there a tool or option in Photoshop that will let me select the multiple colors then automatically generate that random pattern or one similar to it???  Or , is this something that I will have to do on multiple layers using filters, etc. then merge them all together??
    Any help will be appreciated.

    I think I've come up with something pretty close enough using a combination of Filters (Clouds, Brush Strokes and Noise) once I selected a foreground/background color combination.

  • Can I create  a multi-selection list using a dynamic list of values?

    I'm reading section 19.7.3 from the dev guide - it explains how to create a selectOneListbox using a dynamic list of values. Is it possible to create a multi-select listbox from a dynamic list of values?
    What I would like to do - I have a read-only view object with a hard-coded query - I would like to display the results of the query in a dropdown list box, or dropdown list box with boolean checkboxes, to allow the user to select multiple items from the list. How can I accomplish this?
    thanks

    Hi JavaX,
    I don't know of any JSF components (at least not any ADF Faces components) that lets you do multiple selection in a drop-down. There is an af:selectManyListbox, but it does not render as a drop-down.

  • Create a multi-page website using DW CC responsive template

    I have a reponsive template set up for a new website. Is it possible to use that one template for various layout structures from page to page?
    More specifically, I would like to modify the editable regions on various pages so that one page has two columns, another page has three columns, and the last page has a single column. Is that possible using one template?
    I have used a single responsive template for other websites, however each of the pages had the same layout (two columns). There were no variations in the basic structure from page to page.

    I am going to have to explore nested templates.
    No, no, no, don't do that!!  Nested templates are a total nightmare to work with.
    One template should be all you need.  Simply decide how many columns you want on a given child page and adjust column widths with page specific embedded CSS code like this.
    Page 1
    <style>
    /**1-col child page**/
    #col1 {width: 100%}
    </style>
    Page 2
    <style>
    /**2-col child page**/
    #col1 {width: 50%}
    #col2 {width:50%}
    </style>
    Page 3
    <style>
    /**3-col child page**/
    #col1 {width: 33.3%}
    #col2 {width:33.3%}
    #col3 {width:33.3%}
    </style>
    Make sense?

  • Multi-Color Spry Menu Bar

    I want to create a multi-color spry menu bar by hand like the one on this page:
    http://projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm2/multicolor.htm
    Any tips?
    Thx.

    For those interested, I found a simple solution at Jim Cook's website, DWcourse.com:
    The best thing to do would be to create a new style class, say “oddball” and apply it to the odd link like this:
    <a href="#" class="oddball">Item 2</a>
    Then create a new style in your style sheet named ul.MenuBarHorizontal a.oddball:hover and apply your hover formatting there. At the same time you might as well avoid the inline style (it’s better to avoid them if you can) and create a new style, ul.MenuBarHorizontal a.oddball to handle the normal state of the odd menu item.
    You can read the entire thread here: http://dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/spry-menu-bars.php

  • Creating multi-colored brushes in PSE 8

    OK, I am having a really hard time finding information on this...maybe because it can't be done, who knows.  Maybe you all do, I hope!  I am very interested in using Photoshop brushes.  I have PSE 8 and I have a general understanding of brushes...I know how to upload, change color, transparency, etc.  What I don't know is how do I make a butterfly look like a multi-colored butterfly instead of a pink butterfly or a gray butterfly?  I am assuming I need to make several layers, but beyond that I'm lost.  I just can't seem to make it look right when I try to color in with different colors.  I hope all this makes sense and someone can help.
    Thanks in advance!

    She states it's also for PSE 7, but I would think that would be very similar to PSE 8, but I can't seem to make it work as I don't have the same set up she's describing.  If someone maybe could see what she's trying to explain and maybe figure out how to take her instructions and apply them to PSE 8.  Usually, I can follow instructions that aren't from PSE 8 anyway, but this one I am having trouble with.

    Thank you to everyone!
    That particular dialog is in Photoshop not Photoshop Elements so she must have mean't PS7 not PSE7. All she's doing is adding a color overlay layer style so you can replicate that by adding your solid color onto a layer over it (fill layer with color or use a solid fill adjustment layer) and using the butterfly as the base of a clipping mask (clipping group...same thing different name).
    Clipping mask tut:
    http://www.photokaboom.com/photography/learn/Photoshop_Elements/layers/layer_groups_clippi ng_masks/1_layer_groups_clipping_masks.htm
    This will give you a solid colored butterfly. Change the solid color blend mode to color just as she does with the layer style. (Softlight blend mode might also do the trick for you.)
    Another option that I think might produce better results would be to clip a gradient map adjustment layer to the butterfly...butterfly again base to the clipping mask...instead of a solid color. Gradient maps color according to the brightness value.
    You can pop in a blank layer between the butterfly and the gradient map and use paint (white or black at low opacity...color is unpredictable) to to push the color to the desired result. (Black will map to one side of the gradient and white to the other with shades of gray mapping between these brightness endpoints.)

    Do you mean photoshop elements 11 or photoshop cs4 (photoshop 11)?
    Anyway since you posted about photoshop elements 11 before.
    Select the Expert Mode

    How can one create a paint color generated from a photo using Kuler?

    The best way to remove a pattern is to use a Fast Fourier Transform.  There's a free plugin (as well as examples and instructions) here:
    http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6795661/4N6site/improc/fftplugin/examples.htm
    Using the plugin requires editing the individual colour channels, which PSE does not natively allow.  You'll need the reasonably-priced Elements+ addin:
    http://elementsplus.net/
    Here's a crop at 100% of the result I got:
    The pattern is much reduced.  With some experimenting, you can probably do a little better.

  • Not sure how to match color more closely...use Pantone?

    HI,
    I've done everything possible to get a certainly red color I want in my ID manuscript, from setting color profiles, snyching across applications, monitor calibration, soft-proofing etc.etc etc. What I see on my monitor with the publishers profiles is NOT what I'm getting on my printer (R1900). I guess that's to be expected.
    The publisher has it's own CMYK profile for their printer so i can't use theirs. There are so many different ways to configure printer management from letting ID manage color, using various Epson settings....all this stuff. Even if I get the color right on my printer, that doesn't mean it'll match the publishers, so why even try to get it right on my printer?
    Actually, my document may even print fine with the publishers. Not being able to have more reassurance of the publishers outcome leaves me queasy! But I guess I have to play my hand.
    So is the only way to know is wait for the hard copy? what about using Pantone? I don't know anything about that, but aren't they for spot colors, or at least I could find something closer that way. If there is a color I like, use those numbers rather than the ones I am.
    Ideas?

    Color management is an attempt to put into play .icc color profiles.  This starts in your application's color settings.  But, working with your print vendor is the best policy in preparing your files and getting what you want consistently.  The Epson R1900 is a photographic printer.  It is not an inkjet proofing device like an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 with a Colorburst RIP.  I sense that, because the R1900 is not backed up with a RIP, you'd benefit from "Let InDesign determine color".  However, the print driver is responsible for interpreting the information supplied from the application in an attempt to convert that info to an actual print.  The challenge for you and your applications, along with your hardware limitations, is to give you a reasonable "red" that you are looking for.  In short, you would benefit from assigning a Pantone Spot color for the specific Red you are looking for.  The only problem is getting that Red to print on your R1900.  And, the only way to get that to happen is using CMYK equivalents which you have been wrestling with.  In a RIP ( Raster Image Processor ) scenario, you would use the printer's profile in the Print setup dialogs.  Let's assume they are using "SWOP Coated v2 Sheetfed".  You would assign that profile in your application's Color Settings under CMYK Workspace.  Then, in your "Print" dialog, you'd set the same profile in the CMYK print space.  But, in a RIP scenario, you'd let the RIP determine color rather than the application.  That's the value of a RIP over a photographic printer where color matching is not a priority.  It sounds like you'd benefit using a Pantone Spot.  If you decided to use a Pantone Spot Red in your document, you would need the RIP and Proffer to produce an accurate color matched conversion in the Print process.  With your current setup you will get mixed results from your print vendor.  In any case, at a minimum, you should get a contract proof before you approve the project for press.  This will give you an opportunity to adjust the CMYK equivalents or finalize a decision to go Pantone Spot before the job is ultimately printed.  Now, again, a Postscipt Level 3 RIP matched up to a professional printer/proofer will convert your file's assigned Pantone "Red" Spot color and, in the case of the Epson Stylus Pro 3880, the printer will use it's 8 internal ink sets to produce a relatively close match to your Spot color.
    "I've done everything possible to get a certainly red color I want in my ID manuscript, from setting color profiles, snyching across applications, monitor calibration, soft-proofing etc.etc etc. What I see on my monitor with the publishers profiles is NOT what I'm getting on my printer (R1900). Yes.  Get a hardcopy proof instead of relying on the R1900.
    "The publisher has it's own CMYK profile for their printer so i can't use theirs. It would help, if you continue to do this type of work, to get a desktop proofer like the one I've mentioned in my post.  You want to "try" to get color matched output so that you are communicating what it is you want before getting to the printer, especially if you have an internal approval process you have to go through.
    "Actually, my document may even print fine with the publishers. Not being able to have more reassurance of the publishers outcome leaves me queasy! But I guess I have to play my hand."
    Not necessarily.  Get the proof.  You do not want 200,000 copies of your manuscript floating around out there with a rose pink instead of a flaming red.
    "So is the only way to know is wait for the hard copy? what about using Pantone? I don't know anything about that, but aren't they for spot colors, or at least I could find something closer that way. If there is a color I like, use those numbers rather than the ones I am."
    Yes.  A Pantone Spot color is actually a very smart decision.  And your InDesign document must be setup using that Spot color, not CMYK.  For instance, let's say you settle on Pantone 206C for the cover and Pantone 206U for the uncoated text pages ( if any ).  It's a simple 2-color job.  Black + Pantone 206.  If you want to print the file on your R1900, then you will convert a swatch using 0%C, 100%M, 30%Y, 3%K in a COPY of your Spot Color file.  Send the Pantone Spot Color file to the publisher and keep the COPY in your folder for reference if need be.
    This is my recommendation and I know it will work for you.  Should the publisher insist on using a CMYK color mix, let them do it and supply you with a hardcopy proof before it goes to press.  This is avery important no matter what you decide.  The proof is very important part of the entire process.

  • I want to print or export (PDF) a design with a indication of the used pantone colors without the separations so that our customer can see them (not CMYK)

    Before i used CS illustrator i was able to indicate the used pantone colors on a print or PDF with coreldraw.
    Can anyone tell me how to make such a print with CS6.
    My clients have to see the used Pantone colors in the design (not CMYK)

    Add your spot colors to your swatches panel (Window> Swatch Library> Color Books> Pantone+ Solid Coated>)
    In the fly-out menu on the swatches panel, select all unused swatches and delete. Also delete any unused swatch groups.
    File> Document set-up> make the bleed .5".
    Use the type tool to indicate the spot colors on the outside edge of the bleed area, make the type color match the indicated spot color.
    Save as PDF. This PDF printed with bleed will show the spot colors. Alternately, you could select "add crop marks and color bar" in the print settings, which should also indicate the spot colors.
    In InDesign you can add a Slug area to your page, where the spot colors would typically be added.

  • Multi color string

    Hi Forum,
    I would like to know that the following phenomenon is a "feature" or "bug".
    I select a part of string and set the color with property nodes. This works well, I can make a rainbow text. But when I modify the string (and update the terminal) then the whole string is recoloured automatically with the colour of first character.
    I'd like to create a display where the text is continuosly updated, scrolles and different part of the string is coloured/highlighted. If the above mentioned method is not efficient can one show me the right way?

    my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas on how to correct this?  This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.

    I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem.  It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about.  (there was a new iCloud release, hence...)  No ETA for a fix yet.  I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list.  I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve).  I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward.  They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset.  ;-)

  • How to create a "Custom Color" for highlighting? (Acrobat XI)

    How to create a "Custom Color" for highlighting? (Acrobat XI)
    The numbers in the RGB and other fields change as various numbers are changed.
    I wanted to create a pale orange:
    Hue               13      Red      255
    Saturation   240      Green  177
    Luminosity    86       Blue     140
    I'd selected one of the orange squares in the color grid, to display the general orange area of the slider.
    I moved the slider to select a pale orange, which generated the above numbers.   Since this wasn't directly available to save to a Custom Color, I tried to  edit the numbers.  Unfortunately, the other numbers changed, making it impossible to actually create a color.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Note:  I used Techsmith's Snagit to show screen shots in a Word document.
    When I attempted to browse and upload the file, the error message said "[The content type of this image is not allowed.]"
    OK...what images *are* allowed?

    Go into outline view. If you can see the outlines of the letterforms, you can't just change the text. If the letterforms are solid black, take the type tool, select the text and type yours.
    Anyway you can just select the letters, take the type tool and type new text.
    Working with the type tool is a basic. Please see the manual for details

  • SQL Server Reporting Services Multi Color selection

    Hi to All.
    iam trying to use this swicth condition in SSRS for multi color view. But its not getting can u suggest me
    =switch(Fields!AVGSALES.Value<2000 ,"red",Fields!AVGSALES.Value<5000, "blue", Fields!AVGSALES.Value>5000,"yellow"

    Hi pullela venu,
    Based on your description, your switch condition in SSRS don’t work ,right?
    I have tested on my local environment and it works fine, so your problem may due to the conditions of different colors, for example, you haven’t include the value of 2000 and 5000,If the AVGSALES value is 2000 or 5000, this expression will not work, and
    you can also check you have put the expression in the right place, Please check details below one by one to make sure you have done the right:
    1.  Did you want to specify three different colors for three different ranges of values like below?
    Fields!AVGSALES.Value<2000(red)
    Fields!AVGSALES.Value=<2000 and Fields!AVGSALES.Value<5000(blue)
    Fields!AVGSALES.Value>=5000(yellow)
    If the above ranges of value is correct you can modify the switch function in the expression as below:
    =switch(Fields!AVGSALES.Value=<2000 ,"red", Fields!AVGSALES.Value>2000 and Fields!AVGSALES.Value<5000,"blue",Fields!AVGSALES.Value>=5000,"yellow")
    2.  Select the textbox of “AVGSALES” in the properties window and select the expression of color to add the switch function above.
    If you still have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Regards
    Vicky Liu
