"Created By" Column is showing empty in SharePoint List

Hello All,
I have created a custom list and enabled the "Created By" and "Created" Column to be shown in the list.
All the users are able to see the "Created" Column populated, but the "Created By" column is blank, no value is populated to it.
But the Farm Administrator is able to see the values for "Created By" column in the List. I tried providing full control to the Users, provided all permissions, but still the users are unable to see this column populated. I have no clues what to
be done.
So I tried a workaround specified in the forum ie., by using a column with calculated value =[Me]. But this gives the login name and not the Proper name, which is not helpful for me. I just want a column which displays who created the item.
Please help me regarding this issue.
Thanks,
Shanky

Hi Alex,
Yes, I have checked them too.
1. This is happening with all lists, as I have modified the permission for the users to the lists only to :
Add Items
View Items
Open Items
View application Pages
View Pages
Open
This is to make sure that the users wont modify the list or delete it or its items.
2. This is happening with all the items in the list, not only for other people's items but also for current user's item as well.

  • Created By and Created Date fields not showing up on Custom List form webpart

    Hi,
I have added Custom Listform WebPart on "DispForm.aspx" of custom list. I need to display, out of box fields "Author" [Created By] and "Created" [Creation Date] on this custom list form webpart, I have added them on the webpart, following is the code behind of aspx page:
    <td width ="400px" valign= "top" class="ms-formbody">
    <xsl: value-of select = "@Author" disable-output-escaping = "yes"/>
    </td>
However these fields are not showing/populating data on the form ?? Any inputs ???
    Regards

    Hi,
I think that when you insert a custom list form web part you select “Item” content type, so custom list form is designed to display only the fields that are appropriate for that content type “Item”, but the item content type doesn’t contain the created and created by column, when you add the two columns, it will not find the field value. By default, the two columns will display at the foot of the list form using SharePoint:CreatedModifiedInfo.
    Hope it can help you.

  • Create a Lookup for ProjetServer field in SharePoint List item

    Hi,
I would like to display values in custom fields of MS Project Server 2010 in Ms SharePoint list 2010. The values ought to be displayed as lookup in a field of Listitem form. I would like to futher query and populate certain fields in New
Items form from Project Server based on the value in the lookup.
I am looking for guidance to implement this. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

    Abhijit,
You could do this by creating an External Column, connected to an External COntent Type from Project Server.
Andrew Lavinsky has several good blog posts on using ECTs in Project Server. Here is an example: http://azlav.wordpress.com/2011/04/05/creating-a-centralized-document-repository-with-external-content-types/

  • How to show data from sharepoint list in mm dd yyyy format using Server Object Model

    In SharePoint 2010
    List "Employee", Colum Name "JoinDate"
has stored data in  (01/31/2014 12.00 PM) mm\dd\yyyy hr:mm PM format.
How to display this data in mm\dd\yyyy only using C# on custom web part?

//Write the code to read your list item
    SPListItem item = list.Items[0];
//Get a DateTime object with the list column value
    DateTime date = Convert.ToDateTime(item["Date Column Name"]);
    String strDate = date.ToString("mm-dd-yyyy hh:mm tt");

  • Linked table in Access not displaying all SharePoint List columns

In Access 2007 I created a link to a list in SharePoint 2010.
Originally the modified by and created by columns were not visible in SharePoint.  They did not appear in the Access table.
I made the two lists visible in Sharepoint and refreshed the link.  However, the two columns did not appear in the Access table.  I created a new .accdb file and re-created a link to the list yet the two columns still do
    not appear in the table.
How do I get these two columns to appear in the Access table?
    Thanks,
    - Bruce

I figured it out by accident.  The fields are in the linked table ... they are just hidden!
I face the same Problem with Access 2013 and SharePoint-Online from Office 365. I added additional columns to the list in SharePoint, but they won't appear in the linked table in Access. Even when I make all columns visible, they are not listed.
Updating data for the other columns works like a charm.
    Any idea from anyone?

  • Creating an order form from a sharepoint list

Hello- I need to create an order form that shows my entire sharepoint list and allows the user to select the items he/she wants and put qty's next to them. Is this possible?
I see how to add the list into my form as a dropdown allowing me to select each on individually but i would like them all to be displayed.
    I am using infopath 2007.
    thanks - Casey

    Hello,
You first need to create custom list in sharepoint (if not created yet) and save data into it. Later you need to add a data connection in form to connect your list with infopath form.
Now you can bind the data with dropwdown or bind with repeating table to show all (just drag and drop the connection on form). later you can add one checkbox in repeating table so user can select the data whatever they want.
Refer this link to drag and drop data connection as repeating table:
    http://www.enjoysharepoint.com/Articles/Details/show-sharepoint-list-data-in-repeating-table-in-infopath-2010-377.aspx#.U3rnLSjcCHM
    Refer this for checkbox:
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2010/how-to-check-all-check-boxes-repeating-table-infopath-2010.htm
    Hope it could help

  • Outlook - The path specified for the file SharePoint Lists PST is not valid

Some users are connecting via Citrix XenApp to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and using Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0.7109.5000) SP2 MSO (14.0.7116.5000) - Microsoft Office Profressional Plus 2010 x86 version for their email.  Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    SP2 for email.
They are connected to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2 August 2013 CU, via a SharePoint Calender; they have View permissions to the SharePoint calendar using Classic Mode permissions (Not Claims).  No permissions have / are changing on this SharePoint
Calendar.  They connect to the SharePoint Calender to Outlook.
When they open up their Office Outlook client, they receive an error "Outlook Data File" "The path specified for the file \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint Lists.pst is not valid." OK
They select OK and they get a window popping up with the option to try to find the SharePoint list.  "Create/Open Outlook Data File" (File name: 'SharePoint Lists') Open Cancel.  They select Cancel.
They are returned to their Outlook client "email."
As an I.T. administrator and SharePoint Administrator, I had a remote session with them, using Bomgar software and I Go to File Menu, Account Settings, SharePoint Lists Tab but there is no list there so go to the Data Files tab and see SharePoint Lists listed.
Selecting it once, and clicking on Settings... button gives error message similar to the one above about PST not valid.
STRANGE in that, when you do that!  You can go to Home tab, Calendar (Ctrl+2), and see Other Calendars and now the SharePoint calendar that was supposed to be there before, but was just "empty!"  There was only the Other Calendars
option but it didn't have any "sub" calendar item.
A similar issue is when Other Calendars is listed, and has a sub calendar listed, a SharePoint connected calendar.  You click on it and get "Microsoft Outlook" "The set of folders cannot be opened. The path specified for the file c:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint
    Lists.pst is not valid."  OK
Click OK and go through the above steps to get the same result.  After going into Account Settings, Data Files, checking on the Settings... button, and receiving the error message, again mentioned above, and the prompt to Create/Open Outlook Data File,
thgen I can go back into Account Settings, Data Files, and double click on the SharePoint Lists and instead of an error, the Outlook Data File comes up, with Change Password... Compact Now, Comment, Name, Filename, Format (Outlook Data File) OK Cancel.
Can go back to the Calendar (Ctrl+2) and Other Calendars, and the SharePoint Calendar "Sub calendar" will appear and operate as normal!  All was done was go into the Account settings and "check" on the "error."
Tried to delete the SharePoint Lists and close out and add it and then go back in, and it "worked" for a few days.  I later turned on Logging and for over 24 hours it was on for the user.  The user was not on forever.
In the Outlook Logging folder, from the users profile, I found many *.log files, firstrun, OPMLog, ETL files, one of which is 6MB, and some prof_001_outlook....txt files.  I clickedo n the SharePoint Lists.pst.log file 1KB

They are using a CRM client 2011 (Server is CRM 2011 - on premise) as well as having other connected email accounts - managed accounts, like Accounting or HR, etc.
What can I look for / provide for you all to assist?  I am almost ready to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this as it has been happening for multiple users for multiple weeks.
When "I" go in, logged on as myself, I do NOT have this problem, however my account is not "old" in that I just logged onto the account domain\matthew.carter, where these users use their accounts day in and day out for weeks / months
    / (some years).
    Thank you!

Did you post this in the SharePoint Section? Did you find a resolution for this?
We are experiencing the same issue and have yet to find anything to resolve this issue.
    Regards, Daniel
I ended up scouring his old posts looking for the other thread, and he did open one in the SharePoint forum:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/3dded85b-73ee-47dc-9609-6ee65f329983/outlook-the-path-specified-for-the-file-sharepoint-lists-pst-is-not-valid?forum=sharepointadminprevious#3dded85b-73ee-47dc-9609-6ee65f329983
Unfortunately, what was marked as an "answer" by the moderators isn't really an answer at all to the problem. We are experiencing pretty much an identical issue with a calendar people are adding to Outlook 2010 from SharePoint 2010 within a XenApp
server (using roaming profiles). However, we have not had the issue occur outside of XenApp yet.

  • Web part refresh causes sticky headers to disappear in sharepoint list

I embedded a snippet called "sticky headers" that freezes the column titles of a long sharepoint list so that when you scroll down, the column titles remain visible. However, I noticed that the "sticky headers" disappear when the web

    Hi,
I believe one of two things are happening, either when the webpart is refreshing, it is a simple ajax call and not a pull page reload, or on the post back, for some reason the list is loading slow enough that your document onReady call is firing too quick.
My suggestion is that instead of triggering your sticky header on document onready, trap the scroll event instead. OnScroll, check to see if the list table exists, if it it does, use "offset" to determine if the table is off the page. If it is
then make sure that the sticky header code has fired to make the headers in fact sticky. As soon as the table is no longer "off the page" then your headers should be reverted to their previous state.
This should not require an entire re-write of code, rather a little code to track and trap scroll instead.

  • Created by column in sharepoint 2010

we have 5 different site list that uses the created by column to help us identify who created what. for some reasons one of the site list is showing system account in the created by column and not sure how it was changed to this?
all other list are showing the correct user who created each entry
    any ideas?

Have you migrated one of the lists via the content and structure feature from elsewhere within the site collection?
This may have led to the creation of these items under the system account.

  • Using Sharepoint List Columns to create a simple trend chart

    Hello,
I am trying to use a single sharepoint list fields with as my data to create a chart.
I have only two columns I want to create the chart with: The date and time picker
column where the user picked a date and time and it is formatted accordingly and the Item ID.
I just want show how many items were created in each month and year. For e.g if there were 3 items created in between Jan 1st- 31st, 2014 then I want it to show a count of 3 for the month of Jan.
I used the MonthName and string conversion for the X axis and it seems to be showing the month and year, but I cannot get the items that were created to show up for each month.
    Any guidance is welcome!
I would like to create a trend chart that shows how many

    Hi PinkPowerRanger,
Per my understanding that you have two fields in the table "Date and Time picker" which is Date/time type and another is "Item ID", you need to get the Month from the Date field to display in the X-axis and count(Item ID) related to each
month to display in the Y-Axis, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can do this by create two calculated fields to get the month and year values from the Date/Time field.
Details information below for your reference:
Right click the main dataset to select the "Add Calculated field", specify an name of the new calculated field and add the expression in the field source as below:
    Year:    =Year(Fields!Date.Value)
    Month:  =MonthName(Month(Fields!Date.Value))
Add the three field in the Chart as below and remember in the Value area you have got the Count(ItemID) but not SUM(ItemID):
Preview you will got the chart like below:
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • SharePoint - Created By Column

    Hey all,
I was wondering if 1: Is it currently possible (or at least planned) to allow manual filtering of what data you retrieve from SharePoint so you don't import the entire list?  and 2: I'm trying to retrieve the "created by" field from a SharePoint
list and ultimately filter a gallery based on how created a list item, is there a way to enable Siena to import that information?
    Thanks!

This is interesting. We're looking into this. I can reproduce what you are saying about the Created By and Modified columns. I'm able to export the list to Excel where the columns do display.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  • How to automatically update InfoPath Form fields(Design) when a new Column is created in SharePoint list?

    Hi All ,
We have a scenario to automatically update the Infopath form(List Form) fields(Field Name and Control) when ever a new Column is created in the SharePoint list. Is it possible to do this? any options or suggestions?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nandini

    Hi Nandini,
I am not very sure will this be going to help you. Ideally, it's not so easy to communicate with infopath using object model. But still you can give it a try using below link :
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/sharepoint/en-US/00125fdc-2115-47ea-8e8b-1ca9e5942f83/update-infopath-form-field-in-event-receiver
I think the above solution is trying to update the field. Addition to that you can try creating a field and control.
Let me know if it helps  !!

When I issue the psr command to check whether tuxedo servers are doing the request, for one of the server, after doing request done for some time, the Current Service shows empty.
Usually the CURRENT SERVICE column shows either "IDLE", if it is not doing work, or Service Name , if it is doing the work.
Prog Name Queue Name Grp Name ID RqDone Load Done Current Service
    xxxxxxxx 00104.00400 xxxxx 400 297552 14877600
What could be the reason behind this ?
    Your input is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are you seeing this consistently or just transiently? There is probably a window between when a server completes a service and when it shows as idle. If you are seeing this consistently and it is impacting your application (although I'm not sure how it would), I would suggest opening a support case with Oracle Customer Support.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got exception when we assign a task to created by column in sharepoint 2013 designer workflow.
To troubleshoot the issue, I recommend to capture the created by field value in a variable.
You can add a "Set variable workflow" action and get the value of this field. Then, add a "Log on workflow history" action and log the value of the variable and see if it is capturing the right value. And in the task action, put the variable
on the user field and do some tests.
In addition, you need to make sure the variable return field as "string" or "Email Address”.
Here is a similar thread for you to take a look at:
